I DON"T recommend Sun Auto for any kind of break service, mainly for Toyota cars. They don't like if you go back with any issues they serviced. Here are the details... I went to Sun Auto almost year ago for multiple services like Break pads replacement, Transmission fluid flush, coolant flush and Oil change etc...when they were checking brake pads they said that Rotors are in bad shape and suggested replacements. When I gave my Toyota car for repair, I have specially asked them to use correct parts and give car to experienced mechanic. The reason I have asked is, they did put wrong parts on my friend's Toyota car, and he had to visit multiple times to get them fixed. I got my car back on that evening (just before closing their shop) and was driving to home when I applied brake I had to press the pedal almost to the floor, I suspect something wrong. I went back next day and asked them to check the problem...after waiting 2 hrs they said they have adjusted and I got my car back....still I see same problem.... Again I went next day and asked them still problem...then they told me that Master cylinder is problem and no issue with rotors are brake pads. So to make sure I had to take to another shop for evaluation and pay labor charges to check master cylinder. Master cylinder is fine. I went back and told Sun Auto that master cylinder is fine, then they contacted dealer and changed the entire set along with OEM brake calipers. Sun Auto said Calipers failed. When I asked about how come they fail all of sudden, they showed me their disclaimer on back of the bill/receipt that anything go wrong when they touch the brake pads. Basically they put wrong rotors on my car and that caused all other problems, it took time for them to realize, by the time calipers gone. Replaced calipers won't come with warranty as they replaced them for free. I didn't ask them to do that for free, they screwed-up something and they fixed it. Finally brakes start working after 1 week I see lots of break dust coming....then I went again....one of the front desk adviser said they put #1 parts...and they keep saying "lots of dust" "lots of dust" "lots of dust" several times....basically they don't like customer come back on issue, they keep ignoring me... Finally they agreed to change brake pads. The new brake pads works Ok but make noise whenever apply break, when I asked about this they said bearing are bad, that is causing noise... read more

Sun Auto Service was excellent! I had never been there before, and was running errands in the area. Their ratings and prices looked good, so I tried it out this Saturday, which is typically a day that I avoid to get auto care done on, due to the high volume. All of the staff was really friendly, they were quick and helpful, the inside was well cleaned and comfortable, the women's restroom smelled amazing for the business being completely cared for by men, and the mechanic made my squeaky door go away just for the kindness. I know my husband could've easily used WD40 to fix that extra issue, but had he yet? No... They were kind to even do that. I was impressed, and I'll be going back there again. Last time I went to a Hyundai dealership, they told me that my break pad are thin and need to be soon replaced. I took an appointment and went to Sun Auto service for a second opinion. They inspected my break and after about 30 minutes wait they told me I still have 80% left on all my break and they don't require replacement at this time. I should have done my homework when I got the quote - but I had a family emergency and needed the car to go out of town. When I walked in, there was a $115 "inspection fee". I misunderstood, thinking this would go toward the cost of the repair. Nope, that's just for them to look at the car. Ultimately, I had 6 ignition coils replaced. When I got home I looked up the cost of the ignition coils. They were readily available from nearby auto parts stores for less than $40. Sun Auto had charged me $83.98 per coil for a total of $503.88 for all six! I returned to the store and asked them why their markup was so high (this was in addition to the $115 that didn't count to the repair and a labor charge of $441). They really had no answer, just saying well it's common to have a high markup. So it's ok because everybody is doing it? They ended up giving me $200 back (refunding the bogus $115 and some of the cost of the coils). I totally understand that they would markup the parts, but I can't see marking them up over 100%. I had been looking for a shop I could trust and was hoping this would be it. I would definitely have been a repeat customer. read more

My car now has over 315,000 miles and is still running great and it is thanks to the excellent work this auto shop has provided to my little KIA Rio! if you have an older truck any need an alignment, i would look elsewhere. Not only do they not have experience performing them they were also very disrespectful when i asked some basic questions. i am mechanically inclined and if i don't need to have someone work on my car than ill perform the work myself. while they were starting to work on it one employee didn't apply the brakes before he performed a caster sweep. not only does this make the alignment inaccurate they tried to cover it up saying "our machine says not to apply the brakes," i asked too see that it says this and they wouldn't show any proof. then the come up and tell me that my truck needs shims to be properly aligned. mind you i have a 1997 Dodge Dakota. i know that my truck doesn't need them as all the adjustments are with the bolts on the top of my A-arms. at this time they just said that they wont do my alignment and all with an attitude, i then asked for the names of the employees that worked on my car and from then out was given the silent treatment to try and help this not hurt their name. After a call to their main office in Phoenix (they are the same company as Sun Devils Auto) i was told that no matter what questions i had that i should have been treated with respect. after that i was told that i can take my car back and have them perform the work on my truck ( i believe everyone deserves second chances). while i believe this time they had their senior tech work on my truck they still weren't able to complete the job properly due to the lift having a "leak" they then proceeded to try and perform the alignment anyways. i watched as they performed the caster sweep properly and i can see that the left side on my truck was aligned except the toe was out. the tech then proceeds to use pry bars to try and align the truck.....well it didn't work and on top of that he completely ruined the alignment on the right side that he didn't even need to touch in the beginning. by the time they were done the only thing they managed to do was make my alignment worse because my "engine" was sagging making it not possible to do the right side.......yea the one that was already good. not only does my truck still pull to the right and my wheel is off but now i have to use my truck till i find a shop that can PROPERLY perform the alignment i need. this shop needs to wake up get the PROPER TOOLS for the job and not wing it. this will be the first and LAST time my truck or any of my vehicles will go to sun devils auto. i am sorry for the long review but i feel the public needs to know the truth about how this shop tries to run their business. they try to sell you stuff you don't need and take as many short cuts as possible. they should be happy that i'm forced to give 1 star otherwise i would give them no stars. read more

I have taken our vehicles to Sun Auto in the past and dealt with a gentleman who is incredibly kind and I always thought they were fairly priced. My husband recently told me that the belt on my car needs to be replaced. I called Sun Auto and was told the repair was approximately $173.00. Within a week or so the belt broke and I had the tow truck take my car to Sun Auto. Once my car arrived they called me and said that the belt broke because a bearing in the alternator seized up, causing the belt to break. Jordan called me and said that the alternator would cost me $650 and that he would go ahead and just keep labor charges the same as the quote I received for the belt to save me some money. I was looking at over $800 to fix the alternator and the belt. My husband called the shop he prefers and it was a much different story. We paid $353.00 for alternator, belt and labor. We spent about half what we were quoted even after paying $75.00 to have it towed from Sun Auto. When the tow truck went to pick up my car, Jordan called and said they couldn't release my car because I owe them $84.00. My husband paid it and when I got in my car and found the receipt left in my car it stated that they charged the $84.00 to remove the belt. However, when I was stranded and my husband came to get me he looked to make sure it was in fact the belt. When we looked, he found the belt broken and pulled it from the bottom of the engine. So, not sure what belt they claimed to remove. Beware! I now wonder how much we've overpaid to them in the past. read more

i was in cedar park and started hearing a weird noise coming from under the car. i got scared and looked up the first place i could find. thank fully it was sun auto service. these guys are amazing. i headed to the store and started speaking with David upfront. he was able to calm me down and make me feel comfortable with the situation. he called up a guy from the back named Justin, who came out and test drove the vehicle. he heard the noise and pulled the car in the shop. turns out something got lodge under the car Justin pulled it out and now no more noise. best thing of all there was no charge since there was nothing wrong. i am so thank full for the help of this team. will defiantly be back. read more

Horrible service. I took my car here back in March to get my oil changed and breaks fixed. They told me I needed more work done on my car, 3 things needed to be replaced, which was going to cost me at least 2000. I was moving to Kansas in 2 days. They assured me that they would have this all done at the end of the day. End of the day came around to pick up my car, to only find out that now my car wouldn't start. They didn't know what they had done, but did apologize to me and told me it was their fault and they would fix. Still didn't know what they did though. Days go by, they finally found out they messed up my computer to my car. I had to move without my car. Once they finally fixed it, my friend had to drive me my car, to where I moved, out of state. To get my car and find out that now my radio and power outlet doesn't work, and also my electrical, automatic locking system to unlock and lock my car doesn't work. This is a wiring issue. My car also has trouble starting over because of this issue. I called Travis, the manager to tell him and he apologized and told me if I came to them they would fix everything free of charge. Knowing I moved. Although I should, but I do not trust them. Worst experience ever and I would never go to them again. I've never had issues with my car, up until they fucked my car up. I wouldn't even rate this place with 1 star. read more

Took my car there for the $18.95 oil change twice. The first time I walked away with a to-do list of $1500, of which I knew I needed new brake roters. 3 months later (after the brakes were replaced), I walked away with another completely different list of $1500 in 'needed' repairs, and an oil leak. I apologize to Sun Auto for my last review. I received an estimate from them and chose to get a second opinion from Henna Chevrolet. Henna gave me an opposite diagnosis. I questioned Sun Auto's diagnosis because of Henna. Bottom line I jumped the gun and originally gave Sun Auto a poor review. After the review was posted I was contacted by the Texas Supervisor for Sun Auto. He was very concerned and wanted to make sure I wasn't being scammed by one of his stores. I brought in the vehicle for an inspection, and he showed me step by step what the issue was. Sun Auto made a proper original diagnosis. Henna was wrong and completely bashed Sun Auto, as I did originally. I made a mistake for jumping the gun and I am here to make it right. Great customer service made this situation right. I have used Sun Auto for years and I will continue. They did not deserve the original review. I truly apologize to Sun Auto for the original review. You are truly a legit company. read more

Just went there recently for the first time and will be back when the time comes. Homer and Jordan, the employees at the service desk, were friendly and knowledgeable. I had to have various types of work done on my Toyota Highlander...oil change, air filter, transmission flush, coolant flush and rear brake pads replacement. The second I left the place after picking up my car, I could tell it was running much better and also my brakes. My husband and I did notice though after it was parked in the garage for a short while that there was a small amount of leakage on the floor. I called and Homer advised me to bring it in and assured me they would have a bay available for my vehicle. It turns out it was just residual oil that leaked due to not being all cleaned up after sealing the cap. It was an easy and quick fix. From the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the expertise of the employees doing the repairs, I was very pleased with their service. read more

Update 8/5/17 in response to Sun Auto's response to me ::: Thank you for the quick response & I can understand how you need to speak well of your company & employees. The thing is, almost the very first thing out of George's mouth was that *He'd rather not do business with us*.. And the end of the conversation was left at *He would call the other store manager to discuss our issues & that he didn't think it could possibly be the same problem as last time & would most likely NOT be covered under your warranty. So think about THIS from a consumer stand-point... I don't know ANYONE that would trust that the work would be done correctly or that there is any chance that even if the work SHOULD be covered under warranty; that Sun Auto would admit to the work being covered under warranty...... There is ALWAYS a way to put blame on another part causing the issue & therefore voiding the warranty. Also, George flat out told me that the TOWING WOULD NOT BE COVERED even if the necessary work was under warranty. This is not my first rodeo. I would like to give you 2 examples of shoddy workmanship :: #1 - After the work was done on the water pump, etc., we picked up the car, drove it home & once at home we realized the hood was not closed properly. Upon inspection we found that the hood latch assembly had the 2 top bolts broken & the 3rd bolt was backed out about an inch; therefore the entire latch assembly was loose causing the hood not to close properly. We fixed this ourselves...... THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD!!!! #2 - This is happening RIGHT NOW at the other shop - We were told that the Temperature Sensor Pigtail appeared to be worked on recently (by Sun Auto in late March). It was not put together correctly. They are saying that the plastic housing was broken off so that the 2 wires could be connected. They were connected but were not secured afterwards, causing the Temperature Sensor to be inaccurate. Before Thursday, 8/3/17, Sun Auto in Cedar Park was the ONLY SHOP to have worked on this car (other than transmission work that you don't do) since we purchased it about 2 years ago. TLDR - George, The MANAGER at Sun Auto REFUSED TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY!! This is the latest update on the 2007 Honda that we have had a nightmare of a time with at Sun Auto on Medical Pkwy, Cedar Park, TX. The car was overheating AGAIN. We took the car to another auto shop that had recently opened in our area. They did their diagnosis & told us that the car needed a new Water pump, thermometer unit thingy & a complete flush. I started thinking that didn't Sun Auto just do that work recently?? - So I called Sun Auto & spoke with Homer. Homer was very nice & looked up the information & told me that YES, the exact work that I mentioned was just done BY SUN AUTO on March 31, 2017. Just 4 months ago........ I thanked Homer & told him I need to speak with family & the auto shop where the car is currently & would call him back. After speaking with family & the other repair shop we decided to bite the bullet & go back to Sun Auto for them to do the WARRANTY work because otherwise it would be costing about $800 out of pocket. So I called Sun Auto back & Homer put me on with The Manager, George. George told me that he would RATHER NOT do business with us due to the BAD REVIEWS we gave them on social media!!!!!! - I told George that I would like to be almost anywhere else than speaking to him about THIS CAR AGAIN!!! He continued to say that he didn't want to do the work as he was concerned what would happen afterwards!! Of which I was in FULL AGREEMENT with him!! I asked George if he would allow the OTHER SHOP to do the work & have Sun Auto cover the cost. That didn't go over well & he flat out said NO. (Which was expected.) ...... Then I asked if there were OTHER SUN AUTO shops in the area... He said YES & then we started discussing taking the cat to their Georgetown location......... At which point I asked that they tow our car at NO CHARGE. He told me NO..... Then he went on to say that they would of course have to do THEIR OWN DIAGNOSTIC WORK & that HE DOUBTED that it was the same thing & IMPLIED that they would FIND SOMETHING ELSE WRONG WITH THE CAR & it PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE COVERED under their warranty!!!! He then said that he'd call over to the Georgetown local & warn (oooops! I mean ***discuss***) the situation with that store manager.. I am SHOCKED that a MANAGER of a large chain repair shop would treat ANYONE with this type of DISRESPECT!!!! At which point I told George to forget it. And continued to tell him that I WOULD RATHER PAY $800 THAN TO DO BUSINESS WITH SUN AUTO EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! read more

Be very cautious. My Ford Focus wouldn't start one morning. It was making rapid clicking sounds when I turned the ignition and all the gauges were popping around. I'm 55 and have seen this many times in my life and I expected it to be either a battery problem or a voltage regulator. I didn't have jumper cables so I had it towed to Sun Auto. They said the starter went out. I had never heard a bad starter sound like that but I went ahead and approved the work trusting them from a friend's recommendation. Got the car back and the next morning it was doing the exact same thing. The exact same symptom. This time I jumped it over and took it to another shop who tested the battery and said it was shot. Amazingly it was the factory battery in an 07 Focus. I don't believe for a second I needed to spend hundreds of dollars on a new starter. Never mind it had the same symptom, why didn't they catch the dead 6 year old factory battery? - that should have been a no-brainier. When I complained they stood by their assessment that it needed a starter and that it was just a coincidence that the battery went out the next day. They offered to let me buy a battery and take it home to install myself to save towing charges. I can't prove at this point that the starter was not defective, it's not here anymore to inspect. I'm just suggesting caution, get a second opinion if you can on any major, expensive repair. read more

Wow!!! Just wow! Typically, I love this place. Most of the staff is friendly and they have an AMAZING tech by the name of Gary that is flat out "Mensa" brilliant. There's an English bloke - Tim - that is a calm and effective communicator. Makes you want to sip a cup of tea and relax while they handle their business. This is my typical experience. It is not the experience I am embroiled in at this moment. The customer service I have received is typical car shop (atypical of Sun Auto) throw a kit full of parts at an issue rather than research to find a more cost effective solution. Strong arm tactics that aren't customer friendly. Leverage and bullying. You should spend your time and labor to find your own solution or watch the estimate skyrocket. My specific issue is a timing belt actuator on a 2009 Honda accord causing the car to lose time and not run. "Contentious" interaction after contentious interaction with the price wildly fluctuating is where I'm at. They want to throw an entire timing kit and actuator to the tune of 1100 (parts alone) rather than fix the single issue. The actuator. Honda knows what the issue is. They have already documented the failure, fix, part, and the labor estimate (half of what Im seeing now) in a TSB from 2011/12 or thereabouts. In all fairness were down to the actuator and several other accompanying parts. The price has skyrocketed yet again. If you want your oil changed or a straight forward repair... Use Sun Auto. If you need clarity and forthright treatment you may consider someone else. I trusted... Past tense this crew. I still trust most of them. There is one particular customer facing individual that I would recommend avoiding if at all possible. Unfortunate that one negative experience taints a while organization but that's where we are. Beware!!! If you don't know your issue to the part and labor detail, go to someone you truly trust to work for you and get it right the first time. read more

I would not recommend their service. If you have no choice but to go there then do you homework first. I went there for a possible brake job and battery charging issue for my civic. I had a flyer from them for free alignment, battery and charging system check and computer scan codes along with any service, and I specifically asked to use it to find any possible issues. They never did those checks (or at least did not tell me they did) but since I complained about battery issue they did that test but wanted to charge for it when they gave me a quote. I think that ad is just to attract honest customers and later hit them with a huge bill. Since those checks were offered free in first place I did not bother much. BUT, here is my bigger problem with them. For the brake job (new front brake pads, new front rotors, changing brake fluid (I doubt if this this needed. Recommended is for every 3 years but they said they wanted to change it) and labor) and a new battery they quoted $650. Fair. Along with this job their "recommendation" was to change struts and shocks, spark plugs (which I replaced 6k miles earlier), fuel injection service etc. These would easily run for more than $2K. And I know my car wouldn't need all of that. Upon asking more about how they make their recommendation, their answer surprised me. They would do general recommendation based on the age and miles of the vehicle and WITHOUT looking at the actual wear and tear of the part they are recommending to change. In my opinion, I can look at car's manual to find that out, they don't need to tell me. I understand almost all auto shops try to upsell but trying to rip off a customer is cruel. As for the job done, it is looking good so far and they have shuttle service which is a plus. Dishonesty is something I cannot stand and would rate them poor for that reason. read more

A couple of years ago I switched from driving a Buick to driving a Toyota. My previous mechanics don't work on foreign cars. A friend who drives Toyotas recommended Sun Auto. Since then I've tried Sun, another place, and the dealership. I've compared advice, service, workmanship and price. I really think Sun is my best value. I, unfortunately, had to have my entire transmission replaced on my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It had an issue skipping between 2nd & 3rd gear among other things & my extended warranty "conveniently" wouldn't cover the issue. Robert Allen took great care of me. He was honest with his experience with my extended warranty, he explained all the issues before working on my truck & was nice enough to work with me on financing this unexpected large expense. I live all the way down in South Austin & expressed how much I needed everything done in a timely manner & he had a transmission overnighted and had the work completed by the next afternoon. I read reviews from other patrons and I work with a lot of accounts in the area who's opinion I respect and Sun Auto and Robert have lived up to their end of the bargain. read more

First time customer and I can not recommend these guys more! They were polite, friendly and most importantly took the time to actually figure out what was wrong with my car and explain it in terms I would understand. I had no option but to bring my toddler with me and they busted out the crayons and paper for her, she had a blast! Made waiting that much easier for this momma. The shuttle brought me home and I am very pleased they had that service availible. Over all I am extremely pleased with the service provided as well as the customer service and atmosphere. My Ford Expedition Check engine light came on as I was driving home last night and the car acted like it was dying. I called Terry and he had me drop it off at 7:00am this morning. He then had an employee drive me 35 minutes to work so I would not have to miss a day of work. By 10:30 am Terry called me and gave me the diagnostic and price. We have taken our two older vehicles to Sun Automotive in Cedar Park for almost three years and each time it's always 5 star service from a simple oil change to major repairs. The best part is that it's never been sticker shock with the repair bills. For that reason both my husband and I recommend Sun to everyone. read more

I bring my 2006 Equinox to these guys for all the regular maintenance and non-maintenance repairs, I have always felt happy and satisfied with their services. I have never felt like I'm dealing with the classic stereotype that car mechanics get, and the prices are great as compared to other repair shops. Today I brought my husband's 2008 Volvo in for some repairs ( after the Volvo dealership wanted to charge me twice as much for the repairs) and am completely happy with their work on his car too, admittedly I was nervous because his car is a "special" car but they didn't miss a beat with it! We will continue to come here as long as we have cars that need service. read more

I had a great experience at Sun Auto! The guys made me feel very comfortable and also kept the lobby upbeat and lively! I felt that they were very trustworthy and went the extra mile when diagnosing my car. I am usually so nervous when taking my car to get work done but not since I found this place. As a female who knows nothing about cars, I am always afraid of being overcharged or charged for unnecessary work. Very disappointed in the advice I was given. Once diagnosed, I pulled up a couple of websites on my phone with prices for parts to get an idea of what to expect. When I showed the part to Bill, front desk, he told me that was just a small fan and not the whole part, A/C blower motor that I needed. Taking his word, I agreed to have the whole blower motor replaced at the higher cost quoted. I asked for the parts after installation and to my shock, it was the same part I had shown to him. I spoke to Todd, manager, who verified it was. I told him how I had been lead to believe that the part I found was the wrong one. They charged $315 for a part that runs $80 for the most expensive one I could find. I've been to other shops who were nice enough to tell me the part I needed so I could purchase and just have them install. Todd said they charge a higher rate to install if I brought the part in. It would have been way cheaper regardless. Although, I got $100 store credit, I have lost complete trust in them and will keep a close eye on their work when I redeem for an oil change.
