My parents and I have been longtime customers of Sun Auto -- first at the Blue Diamond location, and now at the Volunteer St location in Henderson. This is a longer review than usual, but one I believe is deserved. Sun Auto has treated my family incredibly well over the years. Former manager "Cameron" and his team at the Blue Diamond location serviced my parents' vehicles long before I became a customer myself. In 2017, my dad was diagnosed with liver cancer. I relocated from NYC to Las Vegas to help care for my aging parents, including taking over maintenance of my dad's cars. One of them was his 2001 BMW X5 -- a car that objectively had plenty of issues over the years, but one he absolutely loved and never wanted to part with. My parents traveled across many states in that car, so it carried a lifetime of memories. What I appreciated most about Cameron, Jimmy, and the team was their honesty and compassion. They understood how sentimental my dad was about that vehicle and never treated us like just another repair ticket. Rather than pushing unnecessary repairs or expensive parts, they consistently helped us make smart, practical decisions to keep the car running without overspending. They were patient, truthful, and always willing to help however they could. In 2020, my dad lost his battle with cancer, and that 2001 BMW outlived him. It's still runs today. My mom has always appreciated how much Sun Auto helped "save" the car. To most people it may have been just an old SUV, but to my parents it carried memories that mattered deeply. Cameron has since moved up in the company -- very well deserved. Jimmy later transferred to the Volunteer location in Henderson when it opened, and I followed even though it was farther from my parents' home. I've since relocated to LA, but I still bring our family cars to Jimmy whenever I'm back in town. The Volunteer shop has an excellent team, including Gavin at the front desk and the technicians in back whose names I don't know. Though I'm only in town every few months, they still treat me like family. Sun Auto has been consistently honest, dependable, and genuinely caring throughout the years. My husbands car had a tire blowout and he needed a repair shop for it to be towed to. He chose Sun Auto for their convenience to our home. While he was waiting for the tow - he called Sun Auto to let them know what was coming. Gavin let him know that they'd definitely be able to help and that since it was 5:30pm and they closed at 6pm - it would likely be completed Saturday. He also warned us that they were booked on appointments for Saturday just to let us know it might be done later in the day. When we got there after the tow, Gavin greeted us and explained the process to us. He was very friendly and kind and let us know they'd call in the morning with a plan. At 9am, my husband had received an alert that they wanted to complete all four tires. They quoted him a price that couldn't be beat. To ensure we didn't incorrectly read the estimate, he called them back and Jimmy answered. Jimmy answered all the questions we had and helped us understand the game plan. Jimmy stated they had the tires in stock and the car would be completed same day! Gavin called my husband a few hours later and stated his car was ready. Had a big service down involving the changing of all fluids and spark plugs too. Afterwards, an error code appeared. The manager, Jimmy, went above and beyond to help me solve the problem. In the end, they were not able to resolve the issue, but they did figure out the failed part. This took a lot of effort on their part. Wasted Time, Leaking Oil, and No Accountability I took my Mazda to Sun Auto for a simple oil change, and it turned into a mess that cost me 5 hours of my time, 2 separate trips, and they even suggested a third. First Visit (with Gavin): Gavin was the tech who worked on my vehicle. After a long wait, I finally got the car back. The next morning, I woke up to oil drips all over my driveway. Second Visit: I brought it back, spoke with Gavin again, and left the car for them to recheck. The following day, I woke up to new oil drips on the driveway. At that point, Gavin told me I'd need to bring the car back for a third visit. He also mentioned "Jimmy the manager," but Jimmy was never available to talk to me directly. Instead of wasting more time, I went to the Mazda dealership. They immediately identified the issue: Mazda requires a specific drain-plug piece/washer that Sun Auto hadn't used. The dealership installed the correct part, and the leak stopped immediately. When I asked about a refund, Gavin said it wasn't possible. Despite the repeated problems, the time I wasted, and the extra cost I had to pay Mazda to fix their mistake, Sun Auto refused to return my money. Meanwhile, my driveway now has permanent oil stains because of this. What should have been a simple oil change became hours of frustration, multiple failed visits, and out-of-pocket expenses. It's unacceptable that I couldn't even speak to the manager (Jimmy) and that accountability was avoided. Advice for customers, especially Mazda owners: make sure they have the correct OEM-specific parts before trusting them with your vehicle. read more

I had an appointment today on 11/20/25 @ 4pm. I was free at 2:30pm, so I called and asked if I could bring my car in earlier to get it serviced and the man told me I could bring it in early and they will take it in. I get there leave the keys and everything and an hour goes by so I call to ask about the status. And they tell me that my car hasn't even been pulled in yet. Why would you tell me to bring it in and that you guys weren't busy just to let it sit out there. My original appointment was at 4pm and was about 3:55pm when I checked on it. I could've waited and let them take it, but why am I gonna give my money to a place who just lied and wasted an hour of my time and tried to make me wait another hour totaling 2 hours. I understand I did make an appointment for 4pm, BUT I called in and got the go ahead from whomever answers the phone to allow me to come in and get the service done earlier.... This employee didn't state his name... it was probably JIMMY a guy who never shows his face.... and it's clear to why... he didn't want me coming in saying "so and so told me I could bring it in early" yea this is petty but I don't like my time being wasted. Sun Auto can't even change oil correctly, yet they tried to charge me $2,000 for a fake repair! After my oil change in February, a leak appeared. They "fixed" it by replacing the plug--but it leaked again. Another shop confirmed my oil pan was fine; the real problem was a cracked gasket on the plug. Sun Auto misled me and tried to make money off a problem that didn't exist. Avoid them at all costs. read more

Came in for an oil change and a low coolant notification. I have my check engine light on and one of my tires way low. The check engine light was on for some work they did they wanted me to pay for again. They never topped off the coolant and they didn't even add some air to my tire. Aggressive upsellers! Just found out why this Sun Auto on Volunteer has such a low rating at 3.7 stars. They will push for the $80 oil chqnge when all you really need is the $40 oil change. If you push back they'll just tell you to go somewhere else. So take their advice... go somewhere else. I suggest any automotive shop on Spring Mountain Rd. Brakes - April Sun Auto put new rear brakes on my Lexus. Said the front brakes were fine. The new brakes intermittently squealed. July I went back to Sun Auto to have the brakes checked. They told me my front brakes were causing the squealing and I needed new front brakes. I said the front brakes went bad in 3 months. Reply was yes and they gave me a written quote for them. I went to a different auto shop and they said my front brakes were fine. That generic brakes were put on my car but putting brakes for a Lexus would have been better. He showed me the two brakes so I could see the difference. He then sanded the generic brakes, inserted a wear sensor which was missing, and tweaked the brakes while showing and telling as he went along. All for no charge. I'd give a zero if I could. They let my car sit all day when their initial repair had to be returned because it didn't work. Then without even driving or checking it again they said it needed a cylinder overhaul. They way overcharged the first time and now are lying and delaying to try and get more money when their "repair" didn't work. I don't trust them and my car is being held hostage. Avoid at all cost unless it's something very simple like washer blades or tire refill or maybe oil change but not anything that requires a real tech. read more

Outstanding experiences at Sun Auto! I've been to this shop three times now, each time bringing them a different vehicle. I even trusted them with my beloved 2015 Ford Mustang. Everytime, I've been helped at the check-in desk by Kris, my appointment has been honored and the repair/service work has been performed in a complete and timely manner. More importantly, there's no desire to scam extra, unnecessary repair costs out of the customer. (I've been down that road with a Ford dealership in Henderson and it's nice to be able to have a trustworthy shop that I can lean on.) I highly recommend this service shop! read more

Took 2018 Ford F150 with 60k miles in November 2024 after the dealership said the transmission needed to be replaced. Sun Auto provided a reasonable quote for a rebuild that included a warranty so we decided to go that direction. We had non-stop issues after the transmission rebuild. By the time they were done with it, we had to tow the truck out of there. It would not run and was leaking fuel. From the time they got the truck in December until the time they finally gave up on it in June, we had the truck no more than 3 weeks total and 10 miles. The truck was in their possession the rest of that time. They constantly failed to communicate, failed to call us back when we tried to get updates, gave us erroneous information when we were able to get ahold of them, and ultimately, destroyed the truck. We went from having a truck with transmission issues to having a truck that couldn't even drive. Stay away!!! Or at least stay away from the one on Volunteer!!! read more

DO NOT GO THIS PLACE. It looks nice place but they tried to replace all the parts even though I don't need to. Even though you make an appointment, they'll make you wait over an hour. I need to change only one ignition coil, but they said I need to change all of them(6) and battery as well. They gave me a quote over a thousand. I went to Autozone and used a tester, and I replaced one ignition coil, and my car works well. I spent only $45. read more

We have used the service of another company since moving here four years ago, yet they are a 30-40 drive, depending on the time of day. I was simply looking for a reputable shop closer to our home. It was a simple oil and filter change. The phone call and setting of the appointment were seamless and polite. I was greeted politely. I was 5 minutes early and they received my car immediately. The environment was clean and they offered free internet and a TV to watch. Very clean for a shop. Only two negatives: I was quoted $67.00 for a synthetic oil change and filter. At checkout, I was given a price of $107. He told me it took two additional quarts of oil. I told him that when I called I told whoever I talked to the year, make, and model of my vehicle. They should have known how to quote the accurate price. He politely gave me the quote price, however, I can't imagine ever spending $110 bucks on oil and a filter. I'll do more homework on that. While sitting at my computer, I saw one of the guys pull my car out front to be picked up. He walked in with paperwork and the key and set it on the desk. There was no one else in line to be served. After 10-minutes (I was done) I walked up to the counter and motioned the employee over and said, "my car has been sitting out front for 10-minutes". He said he would get right on it - but again - there was no one else to serve. My experience was not bad and I may be giving them one star too many - but I like to support companies. I may give them another shot - but in the mean time I will certainly be searching for prices and coupons from other shops. read more

Took my 2009 Audi to Sun Auto Service on Volunteer in Henderson, NV for an oil change and free tire rotation. After 90 minutes of waiting in their lobby, the car was driven up front, I paid the bill and then verified the following: 1. Opened the hood and saw the old Penzoil screw-on oil filter with my felt pen marks on it was never changed. I had them rechange the oil and install a new oil filter. The Manager offered free oil changes in the future. 2. When I got home (1 mile away) I parked in the garage, looked underneath for any oil leaks in the floor and saw that the rubber fairing that's mounted below the engine was now dragging on the floor. I called them and they came, removed the fairing and had me return my car to their shop so they could reinstall it while the car was raised up. 3. I then verified that the tires had not been rotated. When I called and asked the manager about that, he told me that their policy was to not offer a free rotation if tread wear was wearing evenly. This manager called me on the phone three days later to ask me why I only gave them a 1-star review??? I will never return to any Sun Auto Service location. read more

Future customers beware! Before anything else, our family brought in several cars for repair to this shop in Volunteer Blvd and had good experience. So this time around, we have another vehicle for work and wanted a second opinion. Front guy said sure we'll take a look and they came up with a list of repairs the next day from what we intially mentioned before we dropped it off - that's fine. It was substantial enough that we can't just drop thousands of dollars of repair right away, so we just wanna take the car back and reevaluate. The problem is they weren't up front with fees. They told us to drop off the car and didn't mention any potential charges. When it was time to pick up, we had to cough up $200 for that second opinion without any initial notice. We never had these charged before when we brought our cars to repair, so this was a first time. To make it worse, seeing the reviews here for some other customers only mentioned $69 for a diagnostic so not only were we surprisingly charged but worse, upcharged. I have no problem with repairs and costs but this place definitely misguided us. Wish they can be more transparent next time, if there is a next time. read more

I took my car in yesterday because my car was low on oil and I needed to get it taken care of same day and my mechanic didn't have availability same day. They told me I needed to fix a few things and quoted me $1100! I texted my mechanic to get a second opinion and he quoted me half the price. I ended up getting an oil change and my filter replaced here and paid $200. They charged me $100 for the air filter, my mechanic quoted me $50 for the same filter. This place up charges and lies about services needed to try to scam customers. Read their other 1 star reviews they have done this to other people as well. I would not recommend this place.
