On our way from Cumming to Asheville, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. Hubby said it was the best vegan chili ever! My soup , lima bean and cauliflower puree, with salad, chopped veggies with apple, was also very good. $2 mini corn muffin unremarkable. Waffle was accompanied with chopped veggies. Very odd flavor profiles did not work for us. The fact that everything is made to order is remarkable but the "ameuter " kitchen staff organization resulted in a very slow service. Unsure of how many people have time to wait for those efforts during a work day. Fortunately, we weren't in a rush and enjoyed chatting with the staff and other patron. When my friend told me she wanted to come here for her birthday lunch I was a little surprised, especially since she's not vegetarian. But, she loves freshly made food, and this is what you'll find here. Honestly, unless you're just a bonafide meat lover, you really won't miss it since everything is just SO good! I tried the Greek salad, which had perfectly chopped cucumber, carrots, yellow squash, cherry tomatoes and olives, with spinach and fresh greens and vegetarian feta. A dollop of red pepper hummus was included with two seed crackers (made in house). The entire bowl was so pretty and fresh, and tasted fantastic with their house-made herb vinaigrette. We also split a bowl of the Thai butternut soup which had some nice spice to it. My friend ordered the special of the week, which was a Mediterranean platter that had more of the above veggies, a classic hummus, along with falafel and their own tzatziki sauce. She offered me a bite, and wow! The falafel is so good, and the sauce is light and fresh. Because it was her birthday, my friend was offered a free dessert. She decided on the spiced chocolate, which is two small bars served with fresh blueberries and cut up strawberries. Amazing! Service was so kind and though small, the dining room is clean and bright. This place is easy to miss as it looks like a converted house off of a busy multi lane road. The staff are very welcoming and the menu is approachable but unique. I had the cinco de mayo wild mushroom taco special. I believe she said it is also the Tuesday special. I also got a peanut butter cookie. The tacos were so darn good. Memorably good. It's more expensive than I expected for lunch but food in general is more expensive and I'd much rather support a great local restaurant than save a few bucks at a chain. I get why they need to have limited hours but dang just a fewwwww hours on a Saturday would lend me to many more visits. The food... amazing. I hate that this is the case, but I've never done a bad review before. I tried coming here twice. Granted, both times were busy. First time, whatever, we didn't get any service past water for over half an hour. Then your coworkers tell you they had very similar experiences, that it felt like they were looked over and left because the wealthier people talking about how often they come there are getting service first and immediately. But whatever, that's just an anecdote. Well, my wife and I tried again today. Got seated, given water. Waited for half an hour, figured maybe I'm just wrong? Maybe I'm supposed to go up and order? So I go to the counter. Before I even say a word, a blonde woman tells me they're going to take my order and I can go sit. I apologize, I'm embarrassed, clearly I was actually wrong. So I go sit. Another 20 minutes. Nothing. The two groups beside me have ordered and been served, one talking about how they come all the time. The message is clear now. So, that's Sun Belly for ya. I've tried the vegan bolognese, wonderfully spiced! The vegan burger over kale with a side mock chicken salad. This delicious variant was made with chickpea Paste (a staple throughout the menu), carrots, celery, mustard and herbs. And lastly a portobello over kale. Last week also tried some wonderful soups (2): their amazing corn chowder and a smooth and creamy thai butternut. The food was wonderful! As a vegetarian unopposed to dairy or gluten, their food was delicious without both! Couldn't taste the difference but I felt it! Delicious waffles and coffee without the waffles and coffee bloat! You could also tell how fresh the food was with the taste alone and seeing an employee personally get the herbs from their garden. The meals were all well plated. The waitress and whom I believe to be the owner were both very kind and allowed me to bring the cat me and my family were traveling with on their back deck. The food also came out very quickly. The atmosphere is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The interior is well decorated and the exterior is very serene. Wow. Love this place! The owners are unbelievably sweet and the food is outstanding. So happy we found this gem. Its easily the most thoughtfully prepared and flavorful food I've had in Greenville. It's definitely the most health conscious and a great option no matter your dietary restrictions. If you're vegan, vegetarian etc and you haven't tried this place you need to go ASAP. Started with the Summer Rolls and they were great. They let us sub them in place of a side salad which was dope. Salads cool but god i love fresh rolls. Also the peanut sauce was unreal. I seriously wanted to buy a bottle to add to all my meals at home. We had their take on Pho and it was super super good. Tons of flavor and so fresh We also had the beet burger and it was really tasty. The mock chicken salad was some of the best I've ever had. Definitely recommend that! They seem to change specials often which is great if you're a foodie and like to switch it up every time you go out. She also mentioned that a new seasonal menu was about to be released. The prices are around $12-$15 per entree which is a little higher than we usually go for lunch but its well worth it for the high quality of the food and the experience. So glad I believed the Yelp hype! I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Deborah and she turned lunch into a dining experience. She has a warm demeanor and is extremely knowledgable about the food they make. We asked for her recommendations and ended up trying the Summer Rolls with Thai peanut sauce, Autumn Cruciferous Salad, Kale Salad, Mock Chicken Salad w/ crackers, Butternut Squash Steak w/ Pesto, Wheatgrass Coffee, and nearly all the desserts! Everything was delicious. The summer rolls were nice and crisp and the peanut sauce was divine! The Cruciferous Salad and Kale Salad were both massaged with vinegars to make them easier to chew and digest. The Mock Chicken Salad is the most popular dish and was also my favorite. It's like a nice and creamy Chicken Salad but with garbanzo beans. The crackers are superb, they are made in-house from a variety of seeds and are also protein packed! The desserts is where Sun Belly really hits a home run. We loved the peanut butter cup, I believe they call it a Belly Rub? It was by far the best vegan peanut butter cup I've ever had and consider myself an expert at this point! We found a little GEM of a place called @thesunbellycafe and had a feast! The owners and chefs were fantastic and personable, coming to our table to get to know us. They even made sure to give our food an extra kick of spice! What's not to love?! Between the fresh summer rolls, cauliflower steak with tomato Sriracha sauce, AMAZING kale, butternut squash soup, quinoa burger, fresh vegan bolognese GF pasta, and the dessert sampler, I was in food heaven!
