While visiting Greenville today I searched for vegan restaurants. I choose Vegan House Shack Kitchen. I have never heard of them or visited them in the past. I registered for an online account. I ordered and paid for the food online even leaving a tip. Just a little over $60 all-in. Once I arrived it was closed. I called the restaurant and left a message, I stated my disappointment. A few minutes later I received a call from a lady which is the owner. She was over bearing, not professional and too worried about being right. It would seem that she's use to having her way. Humility will take you a long ways in life especially when dealing with the public. You have to always remember you serve the customer. Especially, when no disrespect is being given. She did offer a refund. After more lecturing I requested a refund. After the 2nd request as she was still talking she hung up on me. I drive an hour to The Herbal Farmercy of Greenville only 10-15 minutes away from this location. I went there to fill my order. Oh yes my money has been refunded. I will never visit this location again nor do I recognize it due to poor customer service skills.

The food here is incredible!! It was so hard to decide what to get but we loved all of it! The chicken sandwich, all the tacos, the wings, cake, peach dream juice was delicious. Prices were great too! Hope we can go back and try even more stuff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wasn't expecting it to be upstairs inside a church, but it was a really cool spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of parking and I loved the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The people were so nice and friendly. Service was exceptional (: Y'ALL GOTTA TRY IT!

My sister and I drove all the way from Charlotte to Greenville, and trust me, I'd do it again in a heartbeat just for this food. We had a little trouble finding it since it's attached to a church and the sign looks like a church announcement, but once we found it, everything was smooth sailing! My sister ordered the Nashville Hot Chick-un Sandwich, Vegan Be'fsteak Quesadilla with sautéed kale and sun-dried tomatoes, a blend of melted cheddar, and their signature house sauce. She also got the Loaded Beefless Real Potato Fries, and I went for the desserts--strawberry cake and apple pie (which came with ice cream, and though they initially forgot it, they quickly brought it out when I asked, no fuss at all). Both desserts were so good we knew we were in for a treat before the main dishes even came out. When the food arrived, we had to rush out to get to the cleaners before they closed, but once we finally tried the quesadilla, OH BABY! It was unbelievably flavorful. My sister, who's usually unimpressed by vegan restaurants, was completely speechless! The Loaded Fries, though delicious, were a little cold, so we called the restaurant and they happily agreed to remake them. When I went back to pick up the fries, I couldn't resist ordering more food -- another quesadilla and the 3 Mixed Tacos: Chick-un, Beefless, and Oyster Mushroom. Let me tell you, the Beefless and Oyster Mushroom tacos were out of this world! The Chick-un taco was good too, but my sister and I were fighting over who would finish the other two. Vegan House Shack has truly set a new standard for vegan food -- every bite was top-tier, and the customer service was amazing. If you're looking for incredible vegan cuisine, this is the place to be. I'm already planning my next trip!

This place is a must if you are looking for great vegan dishes. Everything was very good and service was excellent. Two things to note. There isn't a wait staff. You enter your order through a kiosk which is pretty simple. The staff behind the counter is helpful if you have questions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Secondly there are really steep stairs leading up to the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely return.

Really good food that we enjoyed thoroughly. Very interesting menu-fusion of many cuisines featuring many ingredients that found their way into places one would not expect. With happy results! I had the salmon moussaka. The salmon was delicious-slightly blackened. Great quality salmon. Paired nicely with the lovely tzatziki and accompanied by salad heavy with toasted garbanzos and mucho quinoa, 'cukes, endive-heavy greens and a spot on bright dressing. Sister had black bean burger on dressed bun that was accompanied by perfectly prepared steak fries with house made ketchup that had a slight heat to it. Really good as well. Kitchen staff nailed the preparation and everything came out perfectly. First meal out in Greenville (as we cook). I could not have been more pleased. Great value for the price. Certainly not inexpensive, but not outrageous. I will definitely be "stealing" this moussaka dish and presentation for my wife the minute I return home! Menu is in transition per our wait person, and one interesting dish was not available. And a croquette dish had been substituted the croquettes for a latke-like pancake (I presume)-not a croquette. Extremely friendly to the veg crowd! Seems like a great kitchen and well run restaurant. Highly recommended!

The atmosphere is very inviting... clean lines.... clean restaurant... terrific attentive service. We looked for a restaurant in the Greenville area that offered vegan and non vegan options. So this fit the bill. Richard said the veggie burger was a bit too soft for his liking. I say that in reference to a vegan burger we had in Berlin that was quite meaty in texture. I think using pea protein really makes a difference in texture... it is used more overseas than in the US. I had the zucchini and potato arepa. It was very tasty and quite filling!!!! A little too heavy for me for lunch... very hearty option. Our waitress was right there when we needed her, kept our water glasses filled, which is important to me because I drink a lot of water at meals. Our daughter had the Brussel sprouts, which she said were delicious. Serving sizes are good!!

The burgers were fresh and tasted very well. The sides we had were squash and Mac & cheese. Both were very good. They had an amazing sweet tea. Gotta try that! I liked the Almost Heaven burger which is a burger with bacon and egg. We definitely will try it again when passing through! I may try the chicken sandwich or wrap next time though, just to mix it up a little.

I booked a table on the patio as I read that the restaurant was super pet friendly. And it was perfect! Both were plentiful and absolutely delicious. The tzatziki was so yum I got more to dip my fries in (it came with chipotle ketchup that was also delicious.) The only downside was the parking. I started with a Straffe Hendrik Quad, which was chefs kiss. It was a yummy treat to start the meal off with and be transported into being in Belgium. Not pictured was the charcuterie board and Brie appetizers that were all split and devoured. What was documented was the roasted duck breast with potatoes and asparagus. The duck was roasted perfectly with the skin, crispy for the texture and seasoned divinely. Yall the potatoes were crispy on the outside, well fluffy like little clouds inside, and had a punch of flavor. The asparagus was rich with a butter and lemon note. If a plate could sing! It's in a basement that feels like a pleasant dungeon or a 1500's rogue tavern, you know, the kind in the movies where plots to overturn evil rulers are hatched. It is a unique vibe and after your meal, when emerging back onto the brightly lit street, it's akin to stepping out of a secret place and back into the light of day. The beer selection is impressive. This food is Belgian inspired. Hence the name being derived from a mix of Trappist Monks, trap doors, and a hidden underground enclave. Many of the beers have higher alcohol content, listed on the menu, be advised. The specialty is Moules Frites, mussels prepared in various broths and fries double fried in duck fat served with a flight of your choice of flavored mayonnaise such as wasabi, curry, truffle, sriracha, etc. Very good. Reservations are highly recommended. It was a busy Thursday at 6:30pm and the place was literally packed, even the bar. The two of us were seated in a large, dark, alcove booth fitting for six or perhaps even eight. We had a reservation, so the hostess said, "we may as well fill it" since it was that crowded. Being such, it was five minutes before we were noticed and placed our drink orders, another five before our water arrived and we ordered and about 30 minutes later to get our food. In between we were left to ourselves. The service was not negligent, but it was minimal and not really friendly either. It was a busy night, so we will have grace. But the mussels were delicious. We both had the Provincale, a rich, savory, Mediterranean sauce of tomatoes, garlic and white wine. Bourdain says "never order the mussels", in his Kitchen Confidential book, but here you are safe because they are very popular and the main feature. I've probably said this before and it is worth repeating, they need to up their crusty bread game. The broth is so good and the accompanying bread just doesn't lend itself to bringing the dish to another level, but it could were it better bread. This is a solid and must do restaurant experience when visiting Greenville. It arguably should be the "one" restaurant you must visit in town because of its unique ambiance and unique food & beverage.
