Yes was one of my worst experiences in airline travel. The tickets seemed reasonable when originally purchased but when I had to pay an over an additional $100. In baggage and other fees for a bottom rung flight accommodations it was a terrible decision but We did get free glasses of water, probably from the tap. There was no video display of any sort (period) or music. Will never use them again! Sorry for such a poor review as some of the attendants were nice (5 of 5 stars)! Sun Country Airlines is a f*#%* JOKE!! First off, $40 for carry-on (which was almost the ticket price itself, $25 extra for a checked bag), none of which was announced ahead of time when buying the ticket. No email with links for check-in sent prior to arriving, and it wasn't even an option in any of the self check-in kiosks, so instead everyone had to wait in line for an hour, something that could have taken no time at all. These are the SMALLEST seats I've ever sat in (see photo attached). I'm 5'7" & 120 lbs but could barely even fit in my seat. The plane made it in one piece and was surprised there wasn't an additional fee for that. Screw these super shady business practices. With all the additional fees tagged on at the very last minute, you're not saving yourself any money, and in fact are probably spending more. I'd rather pay a bit extra up front and support any other airline other than this joke of a company. Never again. read more

Bought their "best" seats for a return trip to PDX. We had nearly 3 feet of extra leg room and additional recline. We travel with small backpacks, so it is considered the one personal item allowed without incurring a fee. Buying the "best" seats gets you a complimentary alcoholic drink (normally $8 per drink). Seats could have maybe been an an inch wider, but hey, it is what it is. The upgrade only cost $25 additional per person, so it was worth it for comfort, and we were the first people off. read more

7/2019. We got routed to this airline from scheduling a trip with 'Expedia'. Only then we noted the awful reviews... At the time of our association with them they had no working website and no one would answer the phone line. You will pay for carry on baggage. We arrived early at the airport to a closed counter. When someone did arrive to open the counter they were rude and curt before we said one word. After boarding we waited on the tarmac near a hour from 'engine trouble'. On a near six hour flight they provided only drinks. No meals are available. Expect long lines at the counter. Take note, they open the counter three hours before a flight and close it 45 minutes 'before' the flight. Somehow they remain in business? read more

Horrible customer service. We were routed to this airline for a return trip to Portland from Las Vegas in January. The original flight was to depart at 11 am. After multiple delays, we flew out of Las Vegas after 6pm. Sun Country issued us vouchers for $200 apiece. These magical vouchers are used only to placate passengers. You must speak to a customer service representative in order to use the voucher. However, being able to speak to any representative of Sun Country Airline on the phone is nearly impossible. After multiple attempts and dropped calls, I was never able to reach anyone at Sun Country Airlines. We cancelled our trip altogether, and used those vouchers to start a fire at home. At least they resulted in some heat. Awful airline. Awful customer service. Never again. The Better Business Bureau is my next contact. read more

Absolutely the worst airline I've ever flown in my life. Ans I've flown some interesting airlines throughout my travels. The bagged fees were more than the tickets. I even had an email on hand stating our baggage fee was included. The girls at the counter did not seemed at all surprised that I was not happy with the overall experience. Given how how the airline industry is changing you would think that a budget airline would not charge more for bags than the actual cost of the flight. After waiting on hold for 1 hour and 5 minutes to change my DOB, because I couldn't change my personal information online (what airlines won't let you change your personal information online?), they wanted to charge me $15 to change my date of birth. No! Time is money, and you just wasted an hour of my time. I get this is an airlines that sells cheap tickets, and charges extra for luggage and seat assignment...I knew that going into it, but to charge to change a data entry error that one should be able to fix online? Although we had checked in and arrived before the scheduled time to close the gate, the gatekeeper wouldn't let us on and let the plane leave EARLY. When I somehow got in touch with a customer service representative (after having already bought a new $1000 pair of one-way tickets), she told me her system said that we were on the plane. And although the woman I spoke on the phone with was very pleasant, she had to direct me to an online "feedback" spot, because they have no one I can talk to about it. I have not heard back. DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINES!!! We had a round-trip flight from SFO to PDX to SFO. No issue at the departing flight, but when we returned, we tried to "check-in" online, and it didn't work!!! Feeling a little reluctant to do this but here I am. We were scheduled to leave for our annual trip to Wisconsin this Saturday June 22nd. We look forward to this trip every year and frankly, we are devastated that we have to cancel because our son is so sick at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital with an unknown condition, no real plans for discharge and we were blatantly told that Levi will not be well enough to fly by Saturday and if he was, his little immune systems has taken a real dagger and flying would be the worst thing to do to the poor kid. So, this morning my husband sat on the phone with Sun Country Airlines for an hour and twenty minutes before someone even answered the phone. After someone finally picked up, he informed them of our situation and that we would need to cancel our flight and hoping for credit so we can still go at some point when Levi is well again. The worker tried to work with him and was obviously distracted by working her numbers on some sort of loud calculator in the background. Understandable to a degree, but she had to refigure the numbers a handful of times to make sure they were "right" and leaving us in question. Once the numbers were figured out, she asked if he wanted to proceed with cancelling the flight. Mind you, we paid 1,000 dollars for our airfare. To cancel the flight, it costs $700 dollars. Chris reported to her that we don't have any other options at this point, we have to cancel. However, do you think Sun country could be sympathetic to the cards that life has recently dealt us and forgive us for these fees? The customer agent responsed "well, what's wrong with your son?" with an annoyed tone and obvious lack of compassion. While Chris was somewhat taken back by her asking in such a way, he gently explained what's been going on and what levi's current status is. She responded by requesting doctors names, contact info etc. Well lady, which doctor do you want? We've have about 50 or so. Chris said it was almost as if she was attempting to intimidate him from this request. "Do you want to proceed?" Chris again says yes and then she placed him on hold. About a minute later she said she spoke with the resource team and said "I'm sorry but the team denied your request. Do you want to proceed with canceling?" Again, a little taken back with the lack of compassion, Chris responded by saying "yes I have to." Our then $1000 dollar trip was reduced to a $280 voucher. When everything was finalized with the cancelation of the flight, Chris very calmly requested to speak with a supervisor or customer service, or someone where he could voice his frustrations with having to wait on the phone for an hour and 20 minutes to give Sun country airlines $700 because we are unable to travel due to our son's current illness. He did tell her that he is understanding of her role but his frustration is with sun country and having to deal with this while our son is in a children's hospital with no support or ability to meet us half way. She then responded "hold on, let me transfer you." And then she transferred him back to the main line where he was notified that the wait time was 60 minutes to speak to someone. Are you kidding me? We have been frequent customers of Sun country airlines as we always fly back to Minneapolis on this airline. Sun Country is a disgrace to airlines. Easily the worst or non-existent customer service I've ever heard. I'm writing this review over a month after missing my flight and writing in my complaint to Sun Country and still have yet to hear anything back from a representative. They are clearly a bottom of the barrel airlines looking to scrape whatever business they can as they have no loyalty to their customers. My wife and i as we prepared for a 5-month move to SE Asia were preparing to leave PDX to SFO to connect with our main flight overseas. Our originally scheduled flight at 5:25PM was delayed until 6:30PM so we made the necessary changes to our schedule. On our way through traffic and fighting through heavier security the flight was not further delayed but moved UP twice, from 6:30PM to 6:00PM and eventually to 5:50PM. We arrived at the gate at 5:54PM to realized we'd missed the flight completely with not a person to explain to us the mishap. Ultimately we ended up spending an unexpected $800 to make our flight our of SFO. In the end we were in the hole about $1000 to make it from Portland to San Francisco - Thanks, Sun Country. Consumers deserve to be cautioned of this airline as they did not do us justice and certainly did not prove to care about our business. Avoid the loss and pay a little more for a more reputable airline. read more

This is probably one of the worst customer service and check ins I've ever received. When I got on the plane they had double booked my seat and multiple others as well. The flight attendees were extremely rude to me as if it was my fault. Telling me I was lying about my seat and ready to kick me off the plane, even after showing them my ticket confirmation and seat number matched where I was sitting. I had never heard of Sun Country Airlines, but was directed to it by the app that I use to book flights. I paid the additional $86 in fees to carry on our bags and to insure seating and priority boarding. I wish that I had read the reviews. All the negative comments were accurate and replayed to perfection in my experience. However, one perspective was missing. During the flight, I got up from my middle of the plane seat to go to the bathroom located in front. I was told by Karen to use the one in back that was blocked by the food cart at the time. A gentleman got up, who was seated behind me and used the same bathroom that I had just been told that I could not use. As the plane began its descent, Karen walked by and told me to shove my protruding bag under the seat. The woman next to me had both of her bags in the space between the seat in front of her and her own. She was not addressed. I am not white. It would be a service to others to inform nonwhite would-be passengers that the treatment will be differentiated based on skin color and ethnicity. read more

They couldn't tell me what the issue was but they promised they could get me out the next day with no problems. So I took their BATE!! I showed up today, August 2nd, to find the same shit story! If I could give this less than one star, I would. I am a single mother that saved up for six months to take my son on our first vacation in ten years. I booked my flight on Sun Country to get us to ONE day of the vans warped tour (all I could afford). We checked in online and the instructions we were given: if you don't have any checked baggage (we didn't), just skip baggage counter and print your boarding passes at the kiosk. We got to the airport early and went to the kiosk. At the Portland airport, Sun Country is the ONLY airline NOT listed on the kiosk. So, we go to the baggage counter. "Oh, they just left". Call the customer service number "high call volume, please call back later. Click". Our flight departs without us. Cancel hotel. Screwed out of warped tour tickets. Vacation ruined, spirits broken. I flew a direct flight with them 8 days ago and the luggage that I checked never made it to my destination. I have emailed and followed all of your procedures and I still haven't heard any updates. The only people to talk to are sales people that tell you there is nothing they can do and to send an email and wait for a response. Well it's been 8 days and no updates. I'm a single mom with 2 autistic children and don't have the time or money to replace the items and medications that you lost.
