Delta Air Lines Flight DL 675 on September 12, 2024. Atlanta (ATL) to Portland (PDX). View from Seat 14B on a Boeing B737-900ER. No ESPN!
    Daniel B.

We had no issues flying Delta Air Lines between Portland International Airport (PDX) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). All flights were on time or earlier and the plane rides themselves were smooth and comfortable. This is a standard I've come to expect from Delta. Outbound, I flew on a Boeing 737-900ER. "ER" stands for extended range. On a Thursday, the plane departed the gate at Hartsfield at 11:13 AM ET (2 minutes early) and arrived at the gate in Portland at 1:02 PM PT (13 minutes early). It took 4 hours 49 minutes, gate to gate (flight time plus taxi time at both airports). Inbound, we flew on an Airbus A321neo. "neo" stands for new engine option. On a Sunday, the plane departed the gate in Portland at 11:49 AM PT (on time) and arrived at the gate at Hartsfield at 7:37 PM ET (on time). It took 4 hours 48 minutes, gate to gate. Roundtrip, the flights cost a total of $906.95 for Delta "Main Cabin." Outbound, I sat in Row 14. Inbound, Row 18. The main advantages of booking Main Cabin are: (1) you get to select your seat, (2) no change fees, and (3) you receive an eCredit if you have to cancel your flight. I booked 70 days in advance. In Portland, we took advantage of Delta Sky Club, which is located nearest Gate D7. At PDX, there's only one Delta Sky Club. It was good. You can read my review of it here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/delta-sky-club-portland Onboard, the food, drink, seatback screen and entertainment, "free" Wi-Fi, and customer service were all good. Again, this is a standard I've come to expect from Delta. Currently, I think Delta is the best among the big three US airlines. United is second and American is third, by clear margins. I really enjoy the live TV and free Wi-Fi (sometimes spotty, but mostly useable) on Delta flights. Something I learned within the past year is you can now SMS-text while in the air. Previously, I could only send messages via Google Chat, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp. Now, you can text via SMS (and RCS) after connecting to the in-flight Wi-Fi.

    Rejection of reimbursement

Honor Vouchers!!!! Don't give out Hotel Vouchers by your attendants and then later charge them for the room. Then reject my request for reimbursement. I have tried customer service several times. Only to be told to resubmit reimbursement request. I Have , over and over and rejection after rejection. Was it tactic to make your customers feel a false security when you cancel flights. Prevents having an angry client? Well I had told them oh well I'll nap at airport. " No , no I'm emailing you an electronic voucher for a free hotel".

I fly quite a bit and these days, since moving to the Atlanta area 2 years ago, I fly with delta. In general flying delta has been a good experience. Mostly on time, flights to everywhere, easy ap to use, nice airplanes, safe flights and so on. Have there been problems... sure there have been a few, but I'd say mostly... everything has been good. In the past I have flown on many other airlines... and I'd say Delta has them all beat for sure.

I am a big fan of Delta Airlines. In Portland, Delta shares Concourse D with Air Canada, Condor Frontier, Hawaiian, Icelandair, Spirit, Virgin America, and Volaris. The largest carrier at PDX is Alaska Air, but Delta does have several flights in/out of PDX....for example, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Detroit, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, New York, even Amsterdam. The gates are very neatly designed.

And people wonder why I always choose a window seat... sunset anyone?

While I've lived in Portland for the last 14 years, I'm originally from Atlanta. So whenever I fly back to Georgia to visit my family, I ALWAYS fly Delta. Why, you might ask? Let me give you a few reasons... First and foremost, ATL Hartsfield-Jackson Airport was my home base for more business trips and vacations than I could possibly count, and given that it's also the Delta hub, I have more experience flying with Delta than any other airline... period. But it's not about me simply filling my comfort level quota; I genuinely enjoy flying with Delta. Now I'll admit, it was certainly a lot MORE enjoyable back in the days when I was able to take advantage of all the extra perks that come along with having Platinum Medallion status, which I maintained with all my frequent business travel. But even with those days in the past, it's still an enjoyable experience nonetheless. ;) Secondly, Delta offers multiple non-stop flights between Portland and Atlanta every day. And given that I have to make that cross country jaunt a minimum of 2x each year, that is an invaluable benefit. Especially when you factor in the 3 hour time change on a roughly 5 hour direct flight. If you naively decide to go with another airline who's itinerary includes one (or more) layovers, you can go ahead and write off two entire days of your trip spent on nothing but travel. Not to mention the insane jet lag you'll be recovering from after.Trust me, I learned this lesson the hard way, and I didn't need to be taught twice. So Delta for the win on this one. Thirdly... what else can I say? They're Delta! Sure, they experience the same ups and downs (pun definitely intended) as any other airline. But they're still here, each and every day, and they always will be. They continue to show up regardless of what new challenge or obstacle life decides to throw at all of us. And in a world filled with so much uncertainty, I'm not sure about you, but I would gladly welcome a dose of reliability in my life. In conclusion... It appears that "Delta really does love to fly, and it shows!"* *If you weren't yet living, or didn't grow up in the 80's or the 90's, that last comment probably made zero sense whatsoever. But I bet if you go ask Siri, Alexa or Google, you'll be able to figure it out. ;)

I have SO much negative to wright. Yet I ill just touch on the fringes. 1. It took 11 hours to fly from Las Vegas to Portland OR. 2 My app stopped working. 3. While working, I stayed on hold for 97 minutes to get information about my next ticket. No one answered. 4 i arrived 3 hours early m, just to make sure I had a ticket. My app didn't recognize me, the kiosk didn't recognize me, then I stood in line with NO baggage to check for 56 minutes. No "Thank you", no"I am sorry" NOTHING. What the heck?

My first flight from Portland Oregon to Utah was great we left on time and it was a smooth ride. Now my flight from Utah was like an hour late and my seat wouldn't recline and I was supposed to be in a seat with more room 17C, the only good thing about that flight was the cookies.

Delta's new marketing term for "Delayed" :-)
    Jack G.

Excellent Delta experience today. The only issue was the 30 minute bag check line. Pleasant staff and timely departure.

It has gone through a massive renovation that changed it from just your average "airport", to a bright airy space that is actually a pleasure to go through. It's about 20 to 30 minutes from downtown, there is bus and light rail service to the airport, and it sits right on the Columbia river, which is the state line, giving it easy access from Washington state as well. It is definitely a big airport. If you are renting a car, you do not have to take any type of airport shuttle. There is an underground, climate, controlled tunnel, connecting the rental cars, and the main terminal. It is about a 10 minute walk, but they do have moving sidewalks, and you can also rent luggage carts at a reasonable price. There are also tunnels and pedestrian bridges connecting the short term and long-term parking lots to the main terminal. All the check-in's are in one centralized area. They have people to help you find which aisle your check-in is on. You just walk up to that aisle number, and check-in. Once you've checked in, you go through security, and it's on to your gate. You can walk between all of the Concourses without having to go through security again. Again, it is a big area, but in the concourses, they also have the moving sidewalks and luggage carts available. There is lots of shopping and food/drink outlets, with an emphasis on Portland/Oregon businesses. They even have entertainment inside the terminal. I loved this airport, and I hope I get the chance to fly through here again.

I hope to return to PDX either as a destination or layover and consider it an top tier airport.

First, credit where it's due: the ticket agent was great -- professional, patient, and actually tried to help. He took time to call and verify whether my bag could be checked and handled the situation appropriately. The gate agent, however, was the complete opposite. I cleared TSA with no issues and arrived at the gate while boarding was still in progress. I politely asked to gate-check my bag. Instead of assistance, I was met with hostility and accusations. I was questioned about whether TSA had "let me through with that bag," told I might need to be rebooked despite being checked in, and spoken to in a dismissive, condescending tone. When I mentioned I had a meeting to get to, I was cut off and told, "You need to be on time. It's not our fault you are late." When I explained I arrived at ticketing about 55 minutes prior, I was essentially called a liar. In the end, the bag was checked and I was allowed to board -- proving this never needed to escalate. To top it off, I was told the incident would be "documented on my account," as if I had done something wrong by following instructions and arriving at the gate during boarding. Unnecessary attitude, poor customer service, and zero accountability. I travel for work and will be choosing other airlines going forward.

I am not a very frequent flyer and this was my very first time flying UA! Did I have high expectations of how I would be treated? Not really. I mean, it's 2025 post-shutdown. I get it. Things are different and it (people) will never be as it once was. It's challenging to write a fair review because each day c/would be different from the next, depending on who's working where. I will focus on the flight crew as I was traveling from PDX to SFO, and also the staff at the check in when I entered the airport. But, this flight and entire experience sucked rocks. The staff at the front counter (upon entering the airport) were rude and so flat. Their affect was non-existent. I had ^no doubt about how much they hated their job and hated being there. I also hate being made to feel that I am a bother to them! But, I digress. Was flying to SFO and was notified that my connecting flight was ^boarding and we still hadn't deplaned! What the crap? I found a crew member and explained the situation I was in. The attendant could ^not care less. He made a lame attempt to "call someone" but then informed me to talk to the gate agent when we finally deplaned. I ran to the first employee I saw she was being hounded by tons of people. I was in a panic (rightfully so) and wasn't sure which way was up. I don't fly SFO if at all, but I knew that I was 15 minutes (walking) from where my flight was currently boarding. Two pilots were around and told me to "just go" and that I would be sure to make it. I ran so hard across the SFO airport as if my life depended on it. Because it did. If I missed that connection it would have been disastrous. As I was running for my life, I saw the "Club United" office area. I ran inside, fully knowing no one cares and no one would help me, especially since I was not (and never will be!) a club member. The first thing I said to the older ladies was, "I am not a member but I will join right now, will you please help me?" The one older lady began to help, and asked me for my confirmation number, but no soon as she began to do this, the other one yelled to me, "You're wasting time. Just get to your gate". Long story longer, I barely made it to my connecting flight. When I explained to that staff member what had happened to me, from the plane landing from PDX to SFO, and all the details post, he apologized and said, "Oh, that's not what's supposed to happen". NO REALLY. He should have offered me a perk or something for my grief and anxiety on how the UA staff treated me. Meh. Fly at your own risk with them. Probably will not ever fly with them again, #SorryNotSorry.

However, when everyone working at the gate has no clue what's going on and tells you that much, it's a little concerning.
