    Dinner is served!?!
    Deep S.

Very disappointing experience traveling to Europe with this airline. The initial booking was easy as we had a connecting domestic flight via Alaskan Airlines and then another one connecting to Lufthansa once we landed in Germany. 24 hours before our Condor flight I still did not receive anything via e-mail from for check in or a reminder that a flight is coming up. So I had to call in and wait on hold for a bit but the Condor rep told me that we can get our boarding pass at the Alaskan airlines counter the day of our flight, so we did. When it came time for our connecting flight at Portland airport everything went to hell in a hand basket. Issue #1: Instead of boarding by a range of seat numbers, they let all of economy class rush up there all at once. It was a free for all I tell you, good thing I had assigned seating!?! Issue #2: While in line to get onto Condor flight, they rejected about 60% of the boarding passes for all passengers because the boarding pass wasn't a blue condor one, it was a green one that was given to us at SFO airport as no instructions on whether we would need to go exchange it for a blue one once arriving in Portland Condor check-in desk. I mean all passengers were sitting in the Gate area for 1-2 hours while all these random announcements were being made but not once did they mention this very important point while we were all sitting there doing nothing. Hence our flight was delayed 30-40 mins trying to swap out everybody's boarding pass. Issue #3: While on board, the flight crew was super stingy. I asked for a cup of water with ice as I was dying of thrist, and he gave me 2 tiny cubes of ice in my water. I was like homeboy "Can I get a few more ice cubes", he replied with "Sorry we don't have much to give out". Nothing like warm water on a 10 hour flight. Issue #4: The plane landed and the jet way connector wasn't ready for our arrival. We had to get shuttled onto a bus in the pissing rain. Dragging luggage down a flight of wet stairs is not the business Also the two buses they provided were super cramped and some old guy kept rubbing up against my butt, I was like look here man "I don't swing the way"!?! I mean there were other things I can get into like poor leg room, mediocre seats, and poor entertainment system but hey that's what I get for booking in economy and not first class. But the 3 main issues I discussed would have happened to me regardless even if I booked Premium or First Class. Safe to say I won't be traveling with these guys again anytime soon!!!

The seat back ahead of me so close to my face my eyes were crossing.

I'm an able bodied looking person and after deplaning, I asked the Alaska gate agent for wheelchair assistance. She said she would call for someone. 20 minutes later, one guy come but there are two of us that need wheelchairs. The guy stops at me first, but then goes to the less looking tabled body person and takes them. After another 20-30 minutes, I ask the Alaska gate agent to call again. Meanwhile I see several people pushing empty wheelchairs. The gate agent refuses to call again, saying she did twice. I asked if I'm just supposed to wait hours and she shrugged her shoulders. I was left in a hard place. Not only is walking long distances painful for me - but adding weight by carrying my luggage makes it harder. After getting myself together, I start the walk. I went to Alaska customer service. On the way I see at least 3 people with wheelchairs sitting and talking. The lead that comes up was rude. She said "I'm sorry you made it all the way up here with no wheelchair." If I didn't mind being on a do not fly list, I would have spoken up for myself, but instead, I left. Shame on you PDX and Alaska!

They wouldn't give me fry carry on after they made me wait for another 4 hours. $79 for a carry on. What a rip. Honestly I'd rather pay more to another airline who would be more Considerate about my situation. This is the second time this kind of stuff has happened to me. My flights is from Las Vegas NV to Portland.

What sort of airline strands a solo female passenger and her newborn child in an airport for 20…read morehours, and does nothing to help rectify the situation? Spirit Airlines, that's who! Spirit screwed up not just my wife's flight from Portland to Salt Lake City (cancelled due to weather, they said...an excuse they frequently use, because it is un-challengeable), and tried to rebook her more than half a day later. We declined, and got her a one-way ticket on another airline that was flying out immediately. We kept the return portion of the trip, as we didn't want any more additional hassle at the time. Oh, woe to us! When it was time to return, my wife's first flight was delayed long enough that her connector in Vegas had already left for Portland. So what did Spirit do to rectify the situation? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. No hotel or food voucher, no support...nothing. They left her alone, with a 5-month old child, to wait it out in the airport for 20...TWENTY...hours, for the next available flight to Portland (which was not true, as a cursory scan of bookings showed one leaving in the early AM, but who am I to do their jobs for them, right?). 20 hours to figure out how to navigate sleep for herself and our son, plus finding baby formula and other absolute necessities. Hell, she had to scream at them to get our stroller and car seat from them, as well as finding her bag practically abandoned, as the airline tried to sort out what to do with the sudden influx of other passengers (and their luggage) that they had just stranded for an entire day, at best. In summary: Spirit Airlines failed to get my wife to her destination, and then abandoned her with an infant for 20 hours, making no effort to mitigate the circumstances they themselves brought into being with their negligence, indifference, incompetence, and gross mismanagement. This company is criminal, and should have their operating license revoked. I will be filing a report with the BBB, the FAA, and any other institution I can, to inflict whatever harm I can upon them. They deserve all of our collective scorn, and none, NONE, of our business, ever.

In the boarding line for the third time, standing in the rain on the tarmac, we were redirected back inside and the flight was cancelled. My wife, her mother, and I had the opportunity to take a direct roundtrip flight to/from Portland,…read moreOR from/to Los Angeles in May of 2026. It was the first time doing that for me, and it ended up being a good trip. Not proud of it, but have decided to chase status on Delta for the ability to fly Comfort whenever possible (those 3 extra inches of legroom makes a big difference, especially when the person in front reclines all the way), forsaking better deals on other airlines in some cases. Delta has made a lot of changes in the last couple of years, a big one being organizing its tickets into five main cabin classes: Main, Comfort, Premium Select, First, Delta One. Each one has a Classic or Extra sub-category, with the main difference being an Extra type ticket is fully refundable (whereas Classic will give a credit for future flight). The Main and Comfort class has a further sub-category: Basic. Basic (Main and Comfort) does not allow the selection of seats (often meaning one will sit in a middle seat, possibly away from your group), has a penalty for cancellation or change, and makes one ineligible for free upgrades. Furthermore, Main Basic also doesn't accrue loyalty rewards (miles nor MQDs), and most importantly for us, makes the ticketholder ineligible for Delta Sky Club access (even with an eligible card). I am Platinum this year, meaning that I can buy a Main Classic class for two people (including me) and then self upgrading to Comfort Classic for no additional cost. So when learning that Delta has 3 daily roundtrip flights (using one aircraft back and forth) between LAX and PDX, booked 2 separate reservations: one for two of us (including me) in Main Classic for $353. For the 3rd person, got a Main Basic for $273 ($80 per ticket difference). I figured I could sit in the back for a short flight, and was willing to take the risk of it being non-refundable. Because the flight in both directions were not full, the Main Basic seat ended up being a window (outbound) and an aisle (inbound), though one can't count on that. We flew back on a Saturday (least busy flying day of the week) so got upgraded to First Classic from Comfort Classic a couple days before the flight. Because the flight is under 2 hours, there was no meal service at all (including no premium snack cart, meaning not being able to use my AMEX snack benefit), though the First class flight attendant was very attentive, giving drinks (including alcoholic) as requested. Delta has a good video monitor system (though not Bluetooth enabled) at each seat, and changed to using YouTube music playlists, which I enjoyed on the short flight. The extra shoulder space is really useful, not having to worry so much about bumping into your seatmates space. Though I continue to be disappointed in the comfort of the seat itself...no lumbar support whatsoever. Delta is good (LAX and PDX airports at least) to have wheelchair assistance readily available, and we took full advantage for my mother-in-law.

Delta offers direct flights: 2 hours. What a didn't realize when I decided to fly Delta that I would have a spirit experience: where you don't get offered drinks more than water. First class was good service although the pillow was crumpled and dirty from what looked like the last person had stepped on it. The first class food actually looked and tasted good but both myself and friends got sick from food poisoning. The economy flight was terrible! It took over two hours just to get a drink of water. The flight attendants stood beside us after giving the guy next to us his ordered meal and 2 alcohol beverages, which does cost (nothing covered but water on an international flight) they stood there laughing and flirting with each other rather than tending to people so long, about 15+ minutes, that he finished everything he ordered before we even got water. Very inconsiderate and rude flight attendants! Also, forget storing bags under the seats as suggested because unless it's a small purse it's not fitting! The poor family in front of us with kids had to use the call button because they completely ignored that family and they waited 20+ minutes before anyone came. The toilets stopped flushing and there was no water in the bathrooms to wash your hands. I got home throwing up that first meal and felt terrible all night. Don't even get me started on how disorganized they are for boarding! It causes high stress for some as one woman snapped at us to get behind her in line when she was infact in the wrong line and when she was told that we were first class and she needed to move to the economy line she gave us a look of death. I don't know if that's just the way they roll in Iceland but I'll take Americans and Europeans any day over those attitudes!

And unfortunately it was a hot, hot mess at the Air Canada gates yesterday. Travel delays are totally normal and expected. I try not to freak out about it since it's beyond my span of control. It's also not as bad when the airline employees are transparent about the situation. However, when everyone working at the gate has no clue what's going on and tells you that much, it's a little concerning. As was the case yesterday with multiple delays as well as canceled flights, the attendant in uniform I spoke with told me straight up, "I don't know what's happening over here, ask him." (pointing to a man in a safety vest running interference with other customers). Ooookay. So that's how it's gonna be. Buckle up, Buttercup. It's going to be a bumpy ride! Even more concerning was the travelers whose flight was canceled not once, not twice, but three times over the span of 36 hours at PDX. They were telling their story to anyone who'd listen while we waited for our 2+ hour delay into Vancouver. At that point, they should've just rented a car and driven to Canada... it would've taken less time. Luckily I'm flying back to the States direct on United. No long layovers on the way home.
