DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO SUNCO!!!! My father had a transmission put in 1 YEAR AGO and reported issues with it several times. The mechanic continued to say nothing is wrong. Two weeks ago on a trip, the transmission goes out. What is SUNCO's response. Give me your keys and I will drive it myself and see what's wrong. The mechanic returns and says, "Nothing is wrong with this transmission! I never want to hear from you again." HE SAID THIS TO A CUSTOMER!!!! What the idiot did not know is we had the transmission checked and there are 5 error codes all pointing at the transmission. LEARN FORM US, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO SUNCO!!!! Took my 1998 Lexus in to Sunco after I was referred by Los Gatos Goodyear. Bob drove the car and confirmed, as had the Lexus mechanic, that it needed the Solenoid replaced. Because of the age of the car Bob recommended I get the part at Lexus directly as it may be hard to find. No problem. The difference? Lexus wanted $850 labor to do the repair. How much did Sunco charge me? $125. Not only that, the car was done in a reasonable amount of time. These guys have been in this business a long time and they know what they're doing. A year ago I had my transmission work on at sunco transmission.The owner Bob promise that the tranny will last a few year and the during warranty he will fix it if there any problem. I only put 10k mile after the car was fix and now the transmission is broken again. When I took my car in for him to look at he was very rude to me. He drove the car around the block and said, "there is nothing wrong with it." Then he said "what do I want him to do because the car drove fine." Don't let is fake smile and niceness fool you when he want to take your money. read more

Took my GMC Yukon because of a "check engine light" was on. They did the check engine light for free, and told me what the problem was. I had them fix it for only $150 which included a new 3/4 switch solenoid (the cause for the check engine light), and a full transmission fluid change (filter, gasket, fluid). The price was very reasonable, compared to some of the local gas stations, and the quality of work was great. read more

Great job, very reasonable price. My 2003 Mazda Protege5 auto trans died and I wasn't sure the car was even going to be worth what it would cost to fix. Got an estimate from a shop I have used before and had to just let it sit for a few weeks while I decided if it was worth it. Then, a good friend told me about and highly recommended SUNCO, so I went to see them for a quote. Needless to say, I had them do the job and for WAY less than the other quote. The Mazda transmission is working great now a couple of months later. Had one fluid leak show up a week or two after the work. Took it back and they took care of it while I waited for no charge. About a month after I had my work done, my son's Suburban transmission died. I told him to go to SUNCO and he had a great experience too. Bob deserves zero stars!! Do not take your car here, he will scam you - the will take your money and then give you a bullshit transmission and warranty he does not honor. He will give you the run arounds and then say "The car drives fine and there is nothing wrong with it" when obviously there's a problem. I had our code checked by several other places and all said it was the transmission, but Bob will read the code and tell us something entirely different (that it's not transmission) and then proceed to turn off the check engine light and shoo you away. Come to place if you like shady business, otherwise Bob deserves to be sued until his business goes broke. read more

The transmission died on my 89 Corvette, that I've owned since new. I asked my local garage for a recommendation and he said call Bob at Sunco, been using him for 20 years and never a problem. I took my car in, he rebuilt my transmission and delivered it to our home, 20 miles away as I was out of town, at no cost to me. Been driving it for a week, need to adjust the lock-up point but that is a minor fix that he'll do I'm sure. Very nice guy, he's been fixing transmissions for 40+ years, knows his stuff. read more

The transmission on my 87 yr old mother's 1998 Cougar went out. We priced new transmissions and rebuilt transmissions. They were really expensive. We couldn't even buy one for the price of a transmission. None to be had in California. We searched around for a Transmission company and were referred to Sunco. We called Bob and he quoted a price that was 1/2 of what the other companies were quoting. Long story short, we got a rebuilt transmission and the car runs as good as when it was new.
