I went to pick up the food, and it turned out my order was lost. The hostess apologized and gave me my money back for the order and promised that the food will be ready shortly. Woah.. best Chinese and maybe Asian in Martinez. Our first time trying takeout (during Covid) and we were delighted. The Mongolian beef was my favorite. Egg rolls were great (there is actually a place in Martinez with the worst egg rolls I've ever came across.. who would have thought someone could mess them up so badly). Kung Pao Chicken I enjoyed, my husband thought it was a bit on the sweeter side. The balance of vegetables, cashews and chicken was perfect. Chicken chow main was good..I would say average compared to how good the other items were. Sweet and Sour Chicken- delicious. FYI on the menu is Sweet and Pungent Chicken, this was described to me as sweet and spicy sauce. This will be our new go-to for Chinese. read more

Went tonight for the first time since ownership changed. Ordered my usual hot and sour soup and General chicken. All was very good and tasted as I remembered. Service was good and owner and server appeared to really want to make sure all was to my liking. The only negative I have was not on the food but on the Diet Coke I ordered. It tasted flat and watery. Not sure what that was about, but it's a minor issue. I hope people will give them a chance. I know it's not the same as the previous owners, especially when you've been going for a long time, but I think they are still trying to make a go of it. It would help I think to have the bar open. It would draw more people in. I will go again. read more

First time I've been here. It was close to closing time. I ordered take out. Simple dishes, fried rice and chow mein. For the $24 I paid, NOT WORTH IT. I guess I shouldve known better while asking questions on the phone about their menu. The shrimp fried rice (which is $9.50)(which I added bbq pork to for an extra $3) had only 5 pieces of shrimp in it, and tasted heavily of soy sauce. I couldn't eat it. The SHRIMP chow mein, also $9.50, was a disappointment as well. I gave 2 stars for my 2 plate order being ready on time, and the girl being sweet when I came in to pay. I recently came here for dinner on Saturday right when they opened at 4pm, it was our first time. The place is clean and employees are very attentive we sat down right away and we were a group of 7 (includes 3 kids). We ordered our plates and everything came out super hot! I love that Martinez has so many restsurants to choose from. This is a gem! First time here had a great experience. The combo chow fun dish is absolutely delishes especially if you like noodles veggies and a variety of meat. The sweet and sour shrimp is also a great choice. They were a great size and very fresh and delishes! The Wonton soup has to be my favorite wonton i have ever had! This place has a full bar which was a plus! Just started working in the city of Martinez around 4 months ago now . Everyone at my work was speaking about , " sunflower garden " . How their service is impeccable and food is to die for . So I decided to try it . Great choice only down side is I can't stop coming in . It has become my normal lunch routine to come here everyday ! This once bustling landmark restaurant with a cheerful and friendly staff and flavorful dishes was apparently sold and is now sadly taken an unfortunate turn for the worse where food quality and flavors are lacking and customer facing staff have poor language and interpersonal skills.. The plump home made potstickers are no longer available and were replaced by what appear to be frozen potstickers with a slight dry or cardboard texture. They were out of brown rice and the chicken dish I ordered lacked the usual flavors and pop. On a positive mote, the prawn dish was unchanged and it was quite good. I wish the new owners luck, but they will have to improve the quality and flavor of their dishes and reconsider how they staff their customer facing personnel and try to restore the charm of this once popular neighborhood restaurant. read more

My family loves the food here for dine in or takeout. The staff is always extremely friendly and efficient and the food is some of the best in Martinez. This restaurant has been in downtown Martinez for a very long time. They were having staffing issues recently so had to close for awhile but hoping they're back open for business at least for take out. It would be so sad if they had to close for good. They have the best honey walnut prawns and we never go without ordering at least one order of the pot stickers. read more

Came in today for lunch with my family. We love this Chinese food restaurant. It is our absolute favorite place to go. We make the drive here and whenever we are in the area we will go. We always order the same thing. We get cashew chicken, sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, and vegetables with brown sauce. We come during lunch so that includes sweet and sour or wonton soup, fried or steamed rice, and spring rolls. My favorite is the chow mein. It is so flavorful and the chicken is tender. Everything is very flavorful. The sweet and sour chicken is very crispy which I like and it's not soggy. The service is amazing. This is a family run business and they know who we are and remember us whenever we come in. Hint! There is a candy basket when leaving you can grab from! read more

This place has been sold. The previous owners had stayed for a month to teach the recipes. Nothing taste good. The potstickers were gooey and very little meat. General chicken was white meat and very dry, the sauce tasted burned.beef and broccoli was very dry, sauce tasted of smoke. We will miss Sandy and David. This place will not be open long. read more

For Take out only: My experience with this food was mixed: Their chicken lo mein was quite good, but the general tso's I ordered was soggy and the chicken was primarily gristle with very little actual meat. My husband got a beef dish (can't remember which one) which was lacking in sauce, flavor, and had a somewhat rubbery texture to it. Based on my order, I wouldn't make this a repeat place. read more
