My husband and I have been buying sunglasses from this sunglass hut for years, mostly because they have a large selection of glasses, from causal and sporty to luxury and high end. Although their staff is generally friendly and helpful, what prompted me to write a review was the excellent service that we received here at our last visit. My husband accidentally sat on his new sunglasses less than a week after we bought them so we brought them back to the store hoping to replace them, assuming that we'd be able to, at a cost. We explained the situation to Jeremiah and to our surprise, he replaced them with a new pair with no questions asked. No attitude. Nothing but a kind, helpful demeanor. Jeremiah made what couldn't been an unpleasant and awkward experience to very pleasant one, which I really appreciated. I never, ever buy expensive sunglasses. I just don't. Recently, I did.... I purchased new Chanel's (as an early Christmas gift) but by the New Year, I had dropped & scratched them so badly that looking through the lens made me think I had a giant cataract! I was so upset! I went back into Irvine Spectrum Sunglass Hut and told the manager what I had done. My spirits were low that he could actually do anything to help. He looked up my account (because of course, I had no reciept), saw I had bought my glasses there and was within 90 days .... He then went over the display and grabbed me a BRAND NEW PAIR! After cleaning them up for me, he simply handed them over. There was no hassle, no issues - just amazing customer service. How cool is that?!?! Worst customer service. It was my first time here and my brother purchased a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses he really wanted for $200. We were greeted when he was looking and trying on sunglasses there was employees standing around did not ask to see how we were doing. He had to go up to the counter to be helped. While he was paying I decided to try on sunglasses and had another employee follow me around without asking me anything. Once I tried the sunglasses she stated rudely I had to put them in a bin, so I stopped looking at sunglasses. The whole staff made me feel uncomfortable and their lack of customer service was shocking. They were greeting and helping other customers as soon as they walked in and telling them about the current sale items. I will not be returning to this location. read more

Very bad customer service the manager did a return for me and till now it's been 2 weeks I didn't receive the money it was like 400$ I called the store they told me to check with the bank I checked with the bank they said they did t receive any money back read more

My daughter purchased sunglasses from this location and when she later checked her bank account, found that they had charged her debit card twice! When she called to tell them of the error and ask that it be rectified, they were unapologetic and told her to call her bank! Absolutely poor customer service to have her take time to fix THEIR error! read more

I'm shocked that there is no zero star feature in this app, because if there was, this place would receive it. After going to sunglasses hut for almost 5 years, buying at least a dozen pair of glasses, they refused to replace my glasses that had a scratch in them. The women helping Me was very rude and sassy. So I had a pair of Raybans P. New Wayfarers? 2132 that I had for less than 90 days. On a business trip to AZ one lens fell out, while hanging in cleave of shirt, I lost it. I was bummed, I had another pair of wrap around Ray ban P. at home in CA. But in my baggage I did have some old Oakleys which I cleaned up and made do. I emailed SGH rep replied she sounded nice, sorry to hear of my plight. Said if were 90 days or less replace free, just bring into store. So I hadn't been to the South Coast Plaza SGH since last year, I think I just tried to buy a replacement Ray ban soft cloth. They only sold SGH ones which turned out to work good as are bigger, so can wrap around your entire glasses when you put them to bed in their case. So I knew the SGH was down the Sears corridor, but where was it? I had even called beforehand asking hours, girl was nice, but wish she would of reminded me they moved! After ask security guard who simply sent me to Macy's Home Store, SGH is tucked away in middle upstairs, Asian girl there well dressed but not too thrilled all I wanted was to exchange, after check on computer oh you didn't buy Macy's online? Geez Louise(not her name), SGH is across Bear street now, but also then 8PM closed! Looking all over for store in mall for like 40 minutes. Frustrated I skulked off, decided not to let it ruin my later nocturnal endeavors, then with fresh resolve come Sunday, I decided to hit the SGH Irvine spectrum, as I also had levis to exchange(reviewed also) So though I had receipt from online within 90 days, explained to Brenda a pretty Latina con songrisa linda, but she said had some scratches on frames. So I could only get the 1/2 price if within 12 months deal. I was hoping for flat out exchange, but oh well, bit the bullet and pulled out the pesos for new pair. I would be credited for damaged pair. So price was more than I paid online, but did get 1/2 off. Also the other dark haired Arabic cute girl Tiba with striking blue eyes fetched me the new pair smiling all the while. Yeah she was fetching alright. read more

I went 2 weeks ago to sunglass hut at south coast plaza and the salesman sold me a pair of Maui jim castle sunglasses and told me they would last for years that's why they were $299.99. I bought them and used them for driving only and carefully put them back into the case every night. Within 2 weeks the foldable side bar broke off the frame. Called the sunglass hut that I bought them from and they told me I had to send them back to Maui Jim for repair and refused to exchange them. Called Maui Jim and I have to pay a service charge and takes about a week and half to repair. This is my last pair of Maui Jims and Sunglass Hut purchase I will ever make with Sunglass Hut.......... read more

SERVICE Review Only - only one person working (assistant mgr) so sense of urgency was nonexistent. I tried to return sunglasses because of the fit and that I have an Asian nose so it's hard to find the right one and Jessica says "so what, you're never going to wear sunglasses again?!" The return process was NOT easy (she didn't know what she was doing) - she didn't resolve our issue (had to drive to another SUnglass Hut where they DID resolve the issue). I asked for the customer service # and she handed me a business card with the incorrect information. I'm really not one to ever complain, even complain about retail service but this service was unacceptable - especially coming from an assistant manager! Thank god the other Sunglass Hut associates (at another location) were better. Never purchasing something from this one in Irvine again (at least not with the assistant manager). read more

I bought two sunglasses for my child on the 19th. But the child did not like it, and it was time to return. I didn't even know if I had a problem with the sunglasses lens. When I went to return, the manager (Elias Haddad?) Said there was a problem with the sunglasses and he could not return it. I only showed the case to my child and I didn't open it. read more

Watch out for the store's assistant manager. Returning sunglasses can and will become quite an unfulfilling adventure, and you're guaranteed to lose 30 minutes of your life. If you're going to go to a Sunglasses Hut, make sure you go to the one at South Coast. read more

I had a great experience at this store. Very nice and friendly staff member, Shane helped me pick out a pair of polarized Coach sunglasses. He was very blunt with his opinions on the different glasses I tried on which I actually loved. He appeared to be pretty knowledgable and had a good sense of style. The price was very reasonable. Went in today to look for something similar to my broken sunglasses (that are no longer replaceable). The problem is, that I LOVE my sunglasses, so nothing stacked up. I do not know who this guy who worked at this location on Monday at 3:56 thinks he is... but when a paying customer asks you multiple times because the had a brown stain on it to check in the back to see if there are glasses that others haven't used you do not tell them that "it's fine" and that you'll clean them and then turn to that customer and ask if they have worked in retail! I actually have and i know that when a customer asks you to please check in the back you say yes and if you don't have it then you apologize tell them that you will clean them and make the sale. You do not come back and give a customer attitude for asking you to check! CHECK! All I asked was that you check. The glasses had makeup all over the tag and the side and when I pointed that out you say that your friend spilled coffee on it.... oh yes that's even better... you're sales person lost you a 160 dollar sale for trying to be a smart ass and not having a single clue what retail is. Maybe you thought that we were some dumb kids.... (I'm 23 years old) but we wanted to buy a pair of glasses and were already at the register ready to pay, we were extremely polite until asked whether or not I work in retail and have you waste our time tapping you leg against a door that you weren't even looking through to find a new pair. Your excuse that you only are given 1 pair is the dumbest thing I've ever heard... why would a SUNGLASSES STORE only have 1 pair of glasses?????? This kid needs to learn how retail works and not ask a paying customer whether or not they have worked. These guys are the best. Tom Rohy helped fixed my glasses with had some missing parts. He went out of his way on a busy day to make sure that my sunglasses were optimized. We were told at Lens Crafters that Sunglasses Hut was part of the same company and that we could go try sunglasses on and once we found the right frames we could order them back at Lens Crafters. Good selection of glasses and very clean store. They are lacking in customer service. I recently bought a pair of Ray Bans a week ago. I noticed one of the lenses was loose and decided to take it back. The first thing he told me was how I didn't take care of the glasses and advised me to take it to Lens Crafter and see if they can repair the glasses. I just bought these glasses less than a week ago. When I purchased the glasses I was told I can bring the glasses back within a year for any damage or manufacturers defect. I don't understand why they tell me one thing when I purchase the glasses and then another when I have an issue. After I made a stink and explained it ti them they hesitantly replaced my glasses. read more

I rang them within opening hours exactly 6 times. No answer. Annoying as I wanted to check their stock before I swung by (it's out of my way). Reluctantly, I stopped off anyway, taking a risk as they may not have the pair I want, and low 'n behold there's no customers in there. So why is nobody answering the phone? Simplest of customer service... I asked for a size 51 in the pair I want and the boy in there showed me a "larger equivalent" in a completely different style. Na mate, not what I asked for. I want the same pair in a larger frame. He said he didn't have any there. I asked him kindly to check what stores do to which the boy responded "South Coast have 2 pairs". Na mate, they don't. I bought this pair from them that's why I'm in Irvine exchanging. The boy, I say boy because the two boys in there could only be about 17, checked in the back for an iPad (I think to search more stores). As I waited I looked around at the various different areas that are selling the same brand as the one I want... Oh, the size, in the pair I have, there, on a shelf, in stock, right there, in the store. The simple exchange then took 10 minutes. Do yourself a favour & avoid. read more
