I really am sad I forgot to review this place when my girlfriend and I went in January for her quick Birthday trip to Tucson. We were heading home and wanted to stop somewhere local to grab a bite to eat. This review is going to be very honest and I don't want to offend anyone because my girlfriend and I are so grateful for the service at this place. Upon walking in we actually felt quite uncomfortable. A lot of staring and a table of elderly Caucasian's ( a husband) was upset we sat next to them. Smh what year is this? But we get it, a room full of older white folks and you have two brown lesbians walking in. Whatever. Upon looking around it seemed that we went on either a predominantly"white and elderly day" or this was just their normal crowed. We were confused, not from Tucson and unsure where is ok and where is not ok to dine in. A seat opened up away from the older folks that hated our presence so we asked the really nice waitress if we can move over, which she was happy to do for us on a Really busy Sunday. After we moved we kind of let the tension go and just wanted to enjoy a good meal. We ordered with the waitress which I'm sad I can't remember her name, she was so kind. They served us their yummy little donut puffs that were beyondddddd delicious! Goodness I wish I could have some now. They are a staple there and rightfully so. Anyways, after my partner and I ordered our food the manger guy or owner walked over to our table, greeted us, and welcomed us with such a smile that we felt ok after the rude diners made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We appreciated that so much and just ignored everyone else. Regardless of the fellow guests, the staff ther were phenomenal and truly made us comfortable to come back. I do not know what the deal is but every time we try to come here the waitresses are so rude to us. Tried again and the waitress said you cannot come in with a mask. So, we went back to our car to get our mask, went back in and she said it would be a 10 min. wait. Also said we had to wait outside. We turned around to go outside when 3 people came in without masks, and she sat them right away. What is up with that. So, we left. Never to Return..... read more

I really enjoyed having breakfast here. Loved all the flamingo and beach themed decor. Portions are HUGE! I was able to make 3 meals total out of breakfast! They do have a small area you can take your dog, but it's not very interesting. Bathrooms are clean. read more

I Must admit, I do not live in Tucson so was visiting for work. Had some coworkers take me here for lunch and I was less than impressed. Waitress could not have been less interested in assisting us. I had to ask for silverware after food was delivered. Everything is extra, changes to anything was discouraged. Waitress dumped food and left and NEVER CAME BACK. I had to walk to the counter to ask for a knife and was told "I don't know if we have any"???? Seriously? I then had to walk back to counter to get the check? Prices are high considering what you get and I would never step foot in this place again. They lost us all as customers and that was over 5 people. Love this place! I eat here every time I'm in Tucson. Large menu with tons of items. I haven't eaten a bad meal here ever. Good food, great atmosphere and the service is top notch. Recommend stopping by if you are ever in the area. read more

This place has mastered the balance between cheeseball decorations, homegrown feel and cosy comfort. Seriously, how many plastic flamingos and faded T-shirts can you staple to the wall? All that to suggest that, yes, the place is visually busy. But on this particular visit -- a first for me, my sister and niece -- we were quite pleased. First off, the parking lot: Located on the southwest corner of Campbell and Irvington, this place is in one of our all-popular strip malls. Oh joy. Didn't realize that when we looked it up on the map. But no matter. Many of our fine family-style diners are, indeed, located in strip malls. The lot was somewhat busy with people milling about and stepping randomly into parking lot traffic. Once inside, everything was off to a better start. The servers here are very friendly. Lots of warm, cordial good morning greetings and smiles. Very cool. We were promptly seated and given menus. Our server returned with water about two minutes later. Nice. Because I am growing less fond of too, too carb-heavy options, I went with an omelet with tomatoes, bacon and onion and a side of fruit and some grits to share with my sister. Now, this place looks total greasy-spoon style. I was even surprised that they offered a side of fruit (grapes, cantaloupe and the like), with the orders! It wasn't by special request that it came. Pretty awesome, I know! We were quite pleased. The food is not at all greasy. Not even a little bit. And not even with bacon included. Thank goodness. It's nothing like going into a food coma after eating at a diner, or anywhere for that matter. Honestly, that is the kind of food experience I dread. So, kudos to this place for having some good, reasonably price food for those of us who are a bit more health conscious. Not to mention the at-times-hilarious views. read more

Just ate breakfast here today. The food was great. I had chorizo and eggs and figured it would be so so. I was pleasantly surprised that it was so good. The chorizo was spicy, the way l like it. Most places they say it's authentic but if I have to add chili to it to get flavor, it's not. This place I didn't have to add anything. It was great. Definitely come back next week. Our server, Tamara, was a great server. Very friendly and informative. My wife and I loved her. Now we're thinking about going for dinner soon. read more

After reading on KVOA's Restaurant Report that Sunny Daze got an Outstanding Rating, I checked them out on Yelp and decided this was a "must visit" restaurant. What a happy decor inside and out! It's fun just being there. Love that coconut tree. Our server was wonderful and the menu selections were vast. My partner enjoyed the Daze Burrito.....it was huge, so you need be really hungry to order it. I got the French Toast and it was very good....they make it on thin-sliced bread. I wish they would use the thick-sliced bread and include fruit. But you can't have everything, right? I don't know how heart-healthy the cuisine stacks up, but all in all a delightful all-American diner. Oh, yes, they are famous for their Sunny Puffs. Don't forget to order some of them for dessert. She was very attentive to our party and another young man was constantly going around asking if we needed coffee refills. I couldn't have asked for better service especially compared to other chain breakfast restaurants. Our food: Erika's big breakfast (comes with French toast), skillet 1 potatoes with bacon and ham bits, skillet 2 spicy chorizo, Marty's breakfast (comes with 3 pancakes), and a side of 2 pancakes (not knowing that these pancakes are huge and extra fluffy). Everything was super yummy. Feedback for skillet 1 - bacon and ham bits should be bigger and more in amount. Feedback for skillet 2 - too greasy. Also, the staff didn't pass out little donuts today...maybe because they were so busy. That is one con, they were very busy. Delicious breakfast of Cajun sausage and hash browns. Comes with 3eggs. No gluten free toast but, you may substitute corn tortillas. Ordered eggs medium. They were exactly that. Love this diner. The portions are huge and it's a fun, casual place. The prices are low and it's a very friendly, fun place. They serve breakfast all day and also have regular meal options. Stopped by for a quick lunch before they closed on Monday and we were in and out before their 2:00 closing time. I had a cheese steak sub, which was delicious. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger, it was also top notch. I would definitely recommend Sunny Daze Cafe when in the area. This place was very weird... the menu was random, the decor was a lot of pink flamingoes... I feel like it's a restaurant that is geared towards a much older crowd who wants to pretend they're in a knock off Hawaii. Food was average, staff was nice. This used to be our "go to" Saturday place after shopping but it has definitely deteriorated. What used to be amusing retro artifacts just seem tired now. Our table had napkins stuffed under one leg to keep it from wobbling. The place could use some freshening up I counted at least 3 people in the kitchen and 4 in the serving area but they seemed to take forever to get our food. My favorite, the chili cheese burger was OK but lukewarm and the chili was cold. We also had to remind our waitress to get us straws and a spoon. What irritated me the most was the 3 handwritten signs moaning about "government handouts so people didn't have to work". If I wanted political drivel, I would have gone to a political rally. Keep you political views to yourself so you don't alienate 50% of your customers. We won't be going back anytime soon. read more

The staff was very nice and we used the Yelp check in to get a basket of the Sunny Puffs which were good (too much powered sugar for me though - like three layers) the kids liked them. This is a hidden gem in south Tucson, the food was good, inside decor was unique with the beach vibes and of course the flamingos. We went in for breakfast and you won't be disappointed here. Overall if you're in the south Tucson area and you're in the mood for some classic breakfast I definitely would recommend this place. read more
