What a great place! It's wonderful to find place like this exist in Tucson. When I check in on yelp it said I would be able to receive a free order of sunny puffs. I was surprised how good they were. Its donut like with powdered sugar. I had told the waitress it had reminded me of Malasadas from hawaii. It took me back to my childhood =) The food was good I had the chicken soft tacos that I ate every bit of, and still felt like I could have had more, but I know that portion was just right! Yelp is usually pretty good but sometimes you really strike it rich, and this place is that one time. Great food, fantastic service and good for adults or kids. The only bummer is that we live 750 miles away. We used Yelp driving across the US and it's been good, and this place is out gold nugget of the bunch. This was the first place we ate in Tucson. We found this place on Yelp and went immediately after landing at the airport. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. We felt like regulars even though it was our first time in Tucson. Food was delicious as well plus they have many many options. We liked it so well we wanted to go back before we left down. Our family gave 4 starts for the food. 3 stars for the service and decor. I like flamingos but to a point. The inside beach/flamingo theme looks way too old (and not vintage old either). This is definitely my choice to go for breakfast! We have frequented this cafe so much that Mark (the owner) now know us and actually sit with us. It's not very often that you get that kind of home town feel in a place that always seems to be busy every time we go there. It's great that owners make people feel welcome. Sunny Daze is a trip! The island decor includes plenty of tiki fringe and pink flamingos. The food is okay - fresh, not gourmet but they don't pretend to be gourmet. The kids LOVED the sunny puffs (free samples!), which have no nutritional value but are delicious. I had the crunchy chicken salad, which was huge, fresh, and delicious. I'll be adding this to the workday lunch rotation! read more

I know many restaurants right now are struggling due to the pandemic, however that is no excuse for this place to not clean their restroom. When I got in, water or pee was all over the floor along with hair in the sink. Definitely not somewhere you would want to wash your hands or go potty in during a pandemic. I also saw a roach in the bathroom next to the trash bin. I've came here before and had a pleasant time but I think they didn't memo this time around that we are in a pandemic. Oh well, food was decent. Beans looked a lil old. And customers service wasn't decent as well. I just feel like a bit more sanitation is needed. read more

Went with a large group of baseball players. We were accommodated very quickly. The server was organized and efficient. She took all of our orders, kept the tickets and orders straight and kept us in refills! The food was delicious! I ordered chicken tacos. The tacos were excellent and the beans we great. We had an order of chips and salsa, chips were fabulous and fresh, the hot salsa was great . The mild salsa that came with my tacos, not as good. My husband and I went to Sunny Daze for Mother's Day. We arrived at 8:30 and there were plenty of tables. We beat the rush, because within an hour or so the place was filled with a waiting line out the door. We were offered a "sunny bite" when we arrived, and instantly fell in love. I ordered a half order $3 to nosh on while I skimmed the menu along with coffee. I have to say, the coffee was pretty good and the servers are really good about topping you off. My coffee cup was never empty even with a full restaurant! The menu offered traditional and California style breakfast items. I ordered a side order of biscuit and gravy $1.76, and hubby ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with hash browns and toast $8.99. The biscuit was super yummy, but the gravy was lackluster, it just didn't have the spice that you expect sausage gravy to have. Hubby loved the eggs, toast, and hash browns. He wasn't a fan of the gravy or the steak, stated that it was too thin and tough. The restaurant itself is a kitschy mix of tropical theme with bamboo, palm trees, and flamingo's flamingo's flamingo's. As we were leaving they even gave me a little flamingo and a plastic rose! The service was attentive without being cloying, quick, and competent. The prices on everything was good and the quantities of food/$ was as good as I've ever seen in this town. All in all I'd go back to try some of the California inspired breakfasts and a FULL order of sunny bites. Don't miss this one, but get there early or be prepared to wait! Been doing a cholesterol free diet and on my last visit to SD I was stunned on what to order. The waitress suggested a whites only omelet with mushrooms, avocado, poblano chiles, onion and bell peppers. Also cheese free. I was very delighted to find this a great suggestion, it was delicious! We took our uncle a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon for the chicken fried steak we love so much. It was good as usual although the portion was smaller than what we're used to at sunny daze. It typically takes up the whole plate and so tender, possibly because the chef was fairly new. An overall good dining experience as always; we're used to the same waitress and her friendliness and experience. I wanted to like this place more. The first time I went, I got chicken fried steak it was ok, nothing special. Second time I went I got the chicken fried steal again. It was awful. Like beef jerky with breading a gravy. They also forgot to put one of my sides in the bag for my to go order, which is very annoying when you get back to the hotel room and realize it. I called them immediately and they asked me if I could come back and get it. UM NO. I should not have to go out of my way for their mistake. Then she told me next time I come in they would give me a third side free. It is not free. I already paid for it. Why do I have to make another purchase to get what I already paid for? Thankfully, the next day a real problem solver named Tamara handled the situation and came up with a suitable solution. read more

No reason not to get a 5 star rating. Food was delicious, unique, and served quickly. However I was here pretty much as soon as they opened so I didn't have any competition. And it was easter Sunday. The coffee was great and refills were swift. I had the Sunnys Huevos mostly because I like seeing how different places do that dish. It was a corn tortilla with chili on top and 3 eggs. Served w refried beans. I wish it wasn't so huge of a meal, I didn't finish it. But then again, I eat like a bird, so this type of food always ends up being too much. Atmosphere was calm and bright, I sat on the patio. Oh and I had my service animal with me, and I didn't get hassled or questioned about him at all. I even had his card just in case, but the servers were respectful and didn't try to pet him or feed him. All around a perfect experience for us. read more

Besides the rough exterior, this place is really cool. It's a mix of small town Cafe with a splash and punch of flamingos. The only weird thing was the outfits of the staff. Some had holes in their shirts. The food is really good. They're known for their sunny daze burrito which has green Chile, beef, beans and smothered with sauce and fries. I would get chili style as it gets soggy fast. Great chicken sandwiches!!!! You have to try! Great brunch and breakfast and lunch place.
