Cashier saw I wanted to pay but kept flipping through tickets and writing things. Picked up the paperwork and went to back counter and continued ignoring me. They have few things that are silly like not being able to bring your own cup of any drink in yet you can pour it into one of their cups and still drink it and if you share a plate with someone you have to pay extra but overall it's a great place to be and very clean layout. We stopped into Sunny Daze cafe for dinner after seeing good reviews, so my wife and I decided to try the chicken fried steak dinner EXCELLENT, service was excellent as well, our waitress was Desiree, what a wonderful and sweet young lady she explained that you can order breakfast or dinner she described both with everything that it comes with. She said since it was our 1st time that she would bring us some Sunny Puffs to try, nice fried bread coated in powder sugar. Great place to eat, clean and very friendly. The chicken fried steak is so thin, there's more breading then meat, biscuit, and gravy.. If you like your biscuit only half cooked and doughy, you'll love these! And if you only want two eggs, be prepared to pay $1.99 per egg. Haven forbid if you would like your ice tea in a to-go cup, make sure you have an extra .99 cents in your pocket! I just stopped here out of convenience (believe it or not) for breakfast one day. Good food, good prices, great service. The free sunny puffs (similar to beignets) when you check in on yelp were awesome. Terrible for you I'm sure, but delicious none the less. They also gave us one for free when we first sat down at the table. They also seem to have a lot of daily specials which is nice for regulars. Aside from the sunny puffs I don't think I would go out of my way to come back here, but I wouldn't hesitate if I'm back in the neighborhood! read more

It had three perfectly cooked eggs over seasoned taco meat layerd with ranchero sauce over corn tortillas. W.O.W. I absolutely cannot believe the amount of positive reviews on here. I went to Sunny Daze for a quick lunch today since I wanted to support a local business rather than the multiple fast-food establishments around the area and saw this place had good reviews. In short: Service was average leaning toward meh, food was NEVER AGAIN. I ordered the green chili turkey melt and their Sunny Puffs (house specialty) to-go since I only had 20 minutes to eat. Lo and behold, my order took 30 minutes because they screwed it up (how is that even possible?? it's a simple toasted sandwich). So I took my order, paid, and when I opened it again I was seriously disappointed. The sandwich looked toasted but was so soggy it literally fell apart in my hand. I don't know if they added cheese or not but there was this weird stuff that looked like mayo on the underside of the turkey and the chilis looked like they were just taken out of a can and smashed onto the top. The only edible part of that sandwich was the turkey. The side of fries was undercooked since they were very soft and didn't have any crunch or texture to them. I ate about half of them before giving up. They also threw in a bunch of condiments in the bag that were apparently open since they were very sticky. On the plus side the Sunny Puffs were pretty good when I ate them until they made me feel ill later. This is likely my fault though because instead of eating a filling, delicious turkey sandwich I ate 10 deep-fried dough balls covered in sugar for lunch. I'll give you that one Sunny Daze. The staff was just ok. The waitresses were generally apologetic about the situation and seemed to blame the kitchen for the slow service and screwed up order. At one point I saw waitresses and kitchen staff on either side of the little service window in some sort of bizarre standoff/argument which was interesting. Also for some reason the waitstaff looked rushed despite the fact the place was only half-full for a Wednesday brunch. Overall this was a seriously disappointing experience. Maybe their specialty is breakfast and I'm missing out or maybe something was seriously off today. In any case I will not be returning or recommending this place which is a shame because I was hoping it would be yet another Tucson restaurant jewel I could cross off my list. read more

We found Sunny Daze looking up online the best breakfast places in Tucson. It is a lovely cafe with friendly staff and good food. The only complaint I have is there should be a little plate on your table for when they come around with their lovely little pastries (like beignets) and they should bring them around a little more I haven't eaten here for other meals but I can recommend breakfast! read more

One of my favorite restaurants. The restaurant atmosphere is always very nice and it makes me feel at home. The food really tastes like home cooked food. It makes me feel that my Mom is in the kitchen cooking just for me. The waitresses are always very nice and take care of you really well. Many of the menu items are my favorites, but my absolute favorite and I highly recommend it, the chicken poblano pasta and my husband's favorite the poblano burger. The Oreo Shake is one of the biggest and best shakes in Tucson, sometimes I just stop in to get one it is always so delicious. They even have a military discount, but only for those in uniform.
