the parking lot of a restaurant

Our party had a large group and they were able to seat all of us. Super impressive. We did have some trouble getting the correct food orders once the food came out. Food was great for a small hidden gem!

Friendly service makes you feel like they knew you all your life cost affordable and meanu special for the day full range of choices on meanu boss is nice as nx pleasant!

Wow! what an unexpected surprise. They have the best biscuits and gravy I have ever tasted. The biscuit looked like it was made from scratch and the gravy was creamy with just the right amount of chunky sausage. I was expecting a small portion of French toast and 4 pieces of bacon. A huge amount of French toast and long crispy bacon was served - almost didn't finish it. The server was very friendly. This place is "the spot" for senior citizens, at least, it seemed we were the only millennials at that time; however, the atmosphere was relax and calm - people seem to know one another chatting about hip and knee replacements. This is a hidden treasure in Huachuca city....SO I will absolutely return for more biscuits & gravy and try other great stuff on their menu. I highly recommend this place for breakfast to all my fellow yelpers.

Cuban submarine and green chile cheeseburger with bacon. Drool.

Amazing!! We are staying in Benson and have eaten at this restaurant 4 times! Best diner ever! Seriously. Hand pressed green chile cheeseburger, twice! Fries and onion rings are perfect. Open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, just like i remember it from my childhood. Sooooo insanely good i had zero leftovers! And breakfast one day with biscuits and gravy, all home made. This is a place you would drive right by if you didn't know any better. But notice how the parking lot is always full! Definitely a locals place. We're going to miss this place when we leave. Yummy! Go there if you like great Americana food done really well. You're welcome

This place is an icon for Huachuca City. It's family owned and the food is fresh. It gets busy early because the breakfast is so good. I personally like the Biscuits and Gravy (B&G), but the burgers are good, too. (The restaurant stops serving B&G after 1pm) There are three big dining rooms with both tables and booths. This was my first time here since a driver damaged the front wall of the restaurant late last year. The walls are repainted and you can't tell that there was a gaping hole in the front. The prices have been raised a bit, but food here is still a great deal. My most recent visit here was yesterday, after a Thursday morning hike around the historic Fairbank town east of town. It was 91F when we walked into this place. I was in a party of five and I had been the only one who had been here before. All of my friends thought this was a great visit. Our server Kim was a riot. We were hungry and thirsty and gave us a pitcher of iced tea and water because we were dehydrated after our hike. This time I ordered a Mushroom Swiss Cheese Burger with crispy French fries and iced tea, which totaled $9.57. (I wanted to order a Patty Melt but didn't see it on the menu.) Another friend had a chicken quesadilla and the other three had breakfast. The pancakes are huge, by the way! Yes, the building is old and is in dire need of a remodel. It can get loud and warm inside when it's crowded with people. The place opened July 1, 1994 and probably hasn't been touched up since. The food, however, is wonderful and this place has a strong following. I'm one of the followers! I wish they had longer operating hours, though. They are only open 6am-2pm every day. They do cater and sometimes are open longer for special events.

Food is good, waiters nice/friendly, and fast service. They serve grits - hard to find in Cochise County in breakfast restaurants.

I get that you have to "stretch" popular items, but there comes a point where you either serve coffee or the coffee substitute. But that isn't even the biggest issue. We go in at 8 to 8:15 Sunday mornings. Have for a good long while and eat before the church rush comes in. But for the last 3 months we had to find somewhere else because more and more tables are marked RESERVED as if this were a Michelin restaurant and not a diner. You used to see one or two tables with a card on it. Last time we went in, there were six. Now in a small establishment where you seat yourself, this is a big turnoff! The ONE time we did find a table, we were there for well over an hour as we had to wait for our food from the kitchen and don't you know, no one ever came in and sat at those reserved tables. Not one! Now the wait staff is still very nice and friendly and they seem disappointed when we have to turn around and leave. But that's the only bright spot. Well, that and this has caused us to go searching for another local breakfast restaurant to become regulars at. Thankfully we have!

It was worth the wait, and our only regret is that we hadn't prioritized trying it sooner. Everything was magical, from the laid-back, hippie atmosphere of the street it resides on to the experience once inside the establishment. What makes this even more notable, and further enhances the experience, is the lack of similar dining establishments in deep southern Arizona. One can find fine dining in Tucson, over an hour away and far too far for a simple evening out. That's not to say there aren't decent or good restaurants in Cochise County. However, none excel in all aspects of an evening out experience, from greeting to service to the quality of the meal. We had a reservation and were seated immediately at the only table open in the restaurant. That is a plus for their table management. Within two minutes, our waiter appeared with water and bread. Expressing our joy at this proper start to the meal is impossible. In eight years of living in southern Arizona, we have often observed management and wait staff at other establishments taking five minutes or more to arrive at the table. That delay typically foreshadows a lack of basic service that follows. The bread basket featured freshly baked country bread, accompanied by a small plastic ramekin of butter. We would have enjoyed the butter served more elegantly, but that is a minor matter. The bread was excellent. We had heard that the restaurant's appetizers are a highlight and decided to try three: a fresh bacon, apple, arugula, and beet salad, Mussels Meuniere (which were specials), and Arancini. The salad was beautifully composed with just the right amount of dressing to highlight the flavors of the ingredients. The Arancini may have been the best I have ever had. Perfectly fried balls of tender risotto set in a delicious tomato sauce were an unexpected treat. The mussels, unfortunately, were the low point of the meal. Overcooked and rubbery mussels in a tepid sauce that lacked depth and flavor were a major disappointment. Still, that was the only disappointment of the evening and didn't detract from the rest of the meal. We chose two specials for our main course. My wife selected the Salmon topped with a deconstructed Clams Casino. I opted for chicken cutlets topped with eggplant and a dollop of pesto, served in a rich Roman mushroom tomato sauce. The Salmon was incredible. Perfectly cooked and nestled on a plate expertly nappeed with a sublime sauce, it alone excited the palate. But when topped with a well-made clam casino mixture, the dish became an epicurean delight. The chicken was masterfully prepared and was highlighted by the silky-textured eggplant that topped it. The Roman mushroom tomato sauce was well made, my only minor comment being that a different choice of mushrooms might have taken the dish to another level. That said, I would order it again, and probably will if it's on the menu when we return. The dessert selection had me wishing for a larger stomach. Every item on the menu and the specials board looked enticing. We settled on a Basque Cheese cake with blackberries and bananas. We could not have asked for a finer way to end the evening. Perfectly cooked, silky cheesecake in a subtle white sauce and topped with dollops of fresh whipped cream provided just the right amount of sweet and tart to end the meal.
