Great food and customer service! I am absolutely in love with this place. It made us feel like we were at home with family enjoying a great meal. Definitely try this place. Stopped by for a cup of coffee. Ended up with a wonderful cup of pour-over Ethiopian coffee that was freshly roasted this morning. Kyle and Bob were just closing up but weren't at all in any rush and we had a nice conversation while the coffee was making its way through the filter. I'm definitely heading back here for more coffee and to try out the rest of their menu, which looks terrific. It's just a few blocks off the beaten path on my way to work in the morning. Went for lunch on a Saturday. Tried the Tuscan Chicken sandwich and Cobb Salad. The Cobb Salad was nothing special. Ranch dressing not very flavorful. The Tuscan Chicken sandwich on the other hand was delicious. Came out nice and hot. The aioli sauce is what makes it. We also tried each flavor of their mini bite-sized cookies. My boyfriend and I love this place. We don't often have mornings off together, but when we do, this is the spot we head to. The owners are beyond friendly, the decor is so cheerful, the Works breakfast panini is always so delicious, and all of the coffee drinks I've tried have been flavorful, well-made, and not so hot that I have to wait 20 minutes to take the first sip. We were looking for a quick breakfast bite on our way to the safari park and this place does not disappoint! Incredibly kind staff, super tasty food (we had the bacon egg sandwich), and good coffee. I wish I lived closer so I could frequent this place! If I did I might consider doing to go only because there is limited seating but if you get a chance to snag a table do it because it's a fantastic little atmosphere, like dining in a friend's kitchen. My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way back to OC and were blown away. The panini's are amazing!!! I had the pesto chicken pesto and he had an avo, egg, and cheese. We were greeted when we walked in and looked at the menu which was simple and easy to choose something right away. Me and my husband both ordered "the works" and the flavor was great. We finally tried this place for breakfast today. I have been trying to get my husband to try it but it doesn't look like much from the street. It is cute and homey when get inside. The proprietors are very friendly and the service is great. The food though, most importantly, is delicious. The breakfast sandwhich is half a sandwich and a small cup of fruit. It's a big half though and the portion size was perfect. Not too much but most definitely enough. The ingredients were fresh and the flavor was perfect. I really wanted to love this place. The employees were wonderful! The place is super cute and quaint- although VERY limited seating. I am also a big advocate for promoting and supporting small businesses. I just didn't get the "wow-factor" from the food. We had ordered a panini and it just seemed like maybe everything oozed out of the panini during the "press" process which left us with two pieces of bread with not much of anything in between. The rice with the panini was tasty- although our party would have much rather had the option of hot and salty french fries. Maybe i'll just try a salad next time? read more

This place is delicious! I work right across the street and it's so nice having something convenient and GOOD! I've had two different panini's and have enjoyed them both! I love that they're made with real chicken and not deli style meat. Their Arnold Palmers are fresh and not too sweet. Had some time to kill before I got back on the road so I went to this little diner. When I walked in I was greeted by the owners with a welcoming smile. I ordered the WORKS and a cup of coffee. Sunny Side Kitchen is a great new local breakfast/lunch spot. I had tried their food before at a local brewery, where they happened to be serving food (beer and paninis=awesome) They recently opened a store front and it's just as amazing. The two owners Bob and Kate are so warm and personable. They make a range of soups, salads, ready to make paninis. I'm a huge fan of their Tuscan Chicken Panini and their tomato bisque soup. We had planned on going to Suzy Q's diner at first, but found out the place was closed. Because really, I didn't want to go eat at iHops, not that there is much wrong with the place, but why not try local businesses? I don't live in Escondido, but I come here on the weekends to visit the bf. It's a quaint little side street shop, with the parking in the back of the buildings. What's wonderful about them is that they sell gluten-free paninis and cookies. I suppose I should iterate that I don't have celiac disease, but I have allergies all over the place. It's scary to actually go out to eat, because we never know what the full list of ingrediants is. My list of allergies is long and so tiring, but I am allergic to wheat -- I eat gluten-free because most ingredients in gluten-free use rice flour or tapioca flour. Least to say, nothing bad happened to me after finishing the meal, which is all-in-all a total thumbs up. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with smiles. The shop had an open kitchen, and staff to the left, and small tables to the right. It had an American homey feel to it. The guests themselves were of an older audience with white and grey hair. I did not see very many younger people my age at all, which is a shame. To start off, we ordered drinks -- I felt tired, so I thought cold brew coffee might be apt. I am not normally a coffee person, but they serve craft coffee, so I thought I might expand my taste palette because truly, I am a tea connoisseur. I think the coffee was wasted on me because after awhile, I had to put in sugar... but I know it's probably better than Starbucks or other chain stores. I ordered a gluten free panini with Avacado, Egg, & Cheese. My bf really loved The Works, and regretted not ordering two. Both included a small thing of fruit on the side. We were also given complimentary cookies, cute and bite-sized. The staff was definitely very friendly, and probably enjoyed working there. An overall very lovely experience. read more
