Not a cheap place to eat since a 1/2 sandwich is $7 and change. Small uncomfortable seating inside but they have outside seating that the sun will hit even with umbrellas at the time we were there. Went there for breakfast to try it out since they had so many great Yelps. After putting our order in, waited 25 minutes before walking up and asking how much longer it might be. And was basically told sir, they're baked with a some attitude to her voice. Picked up on this while we waited because people coming in to get their pre-called in to go orders were waiting 15 minutes or so to get their order to go. They have tall glass water bottles so you can poor your own waters. The bottle we happened to grab after opening it, had a crumb on the inside at the top of the bottle and inside of the white cap was a little blackish dirty so that was a turn off. After 30 minutes it finally was served to us. Everything is baked including the egg (which it states on the menu). Since not scrambled, you have an egg white sandwich with a little yolk flavored spot. I ordered the award winning The Works. To me, one word, bland. Had there been no avocado, it would have been completely dry. My wife got the egg & bacon. Baked bread, baked egg & baked bacon. It was baked hard as a rock and no flavor other than the butter grilled into the hard bread. The side of fruit is tiny, it's a little ketchup plastic to go condiment container. So happy I found the gem on our way up to Harrah's from downtown. Stopped in with my fam (4 of us), parked across the street and walked in (very un-assuming from the outside). We were a little worried about seating, but there was some tables inside (like 4-5) and some out front, but also a bunch in the back which was a bit shaded, even on a hot August morning. Great menu option, even for vegetarians. My sister and I split 1 full + 1 half avo+egg+cheese, which was the perfect amount of food. And then we all checked in on yelp for our very yummy lemonades. My sister and I decided to stop by and try this spot after we saw Yelp's ratings and the Escondido Eats Facebook page citing SunnySide Kitchen as a must stop shop! We tried "The Works" panini and it was amazing. I also ordered an iced Hazelnut Latte and my sister got the Fall (apple floral) tea and both were made fresh and tasted delicious. I loved that they offer an array of dipping sauces including pesto sauce and a tomato aioli, ranch (etc). They made mine with oat milk but there is an almond milk option, too, for people who need non-dairy. I had the strawberry chicken salad and it was perfect. The dressing was well balanced and tangy. Others in my party got the Tuesday Salad and the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich. Everybody loved their food. My son said the strawberry lemonade was the best he's ever tasted. I love this quaint little cafe that makes food just like you get at home. The Works Breakfast Sandwich is a definite try!!!! The herb bread is amazing!!!! And it's big enough to share but if you're like me I take the other half home for later. It's awesome for lunch also with homemade soups, salads and other great sandwiches. They also make various coffees and teas. I love their espresso pour overs! So Italian!!! The inside is small but they have outdoor seating and your furry friends are welcome. Check this place out. I am so lucky I am a hop, skip and jump away from this amazingly mom and pop restaurant. The food is so fresh, and delicious. I had the grilled cheese panini and strawberry lemonade. The sandwich has that nice crispy exterior and a gooey cheesy inside (exactly how I love my grilled cheese). The strawberry lemonade is hand made, literally I watched him muddle the fruit and not too sweet. Well balanced between sweet and sour. Yummmm. The service is great and consistently friendly. The ambiance is so sweet. It's a cozy little place with seating inside and outside. There are 3-4 four-person tables outside under the shade and umbrellas so it was perfect for the warm October weather. My brother in law is in town and we wanted a quick bite. We went to Sunny Side and it didn't disappoint. I had the avocado, egg and cheese sandwich with a Perrier. The sandwich has a Parmesan crust, tons of avocado and the bread was perfectly toasted. I appreciated that you can order it in the half or whole size. The half portion was perfect to fill me up, but not feel weighed down for the rest of the day. He had The Works with a mocha latte. Judging by how quickly he finished and how little he was talking, I think he liked it. Bob at the register was very kind and the ladies in the kitchen checked in with us after our meal to see how it was. Seating is limited (only about five small tables inside and about four outside) but well worth the wait! In short- Will be back to support this local business. I really need to start remembering to take photos. This place was so delightful! The food is fresh and clean and tasty. My wife got the chicken Tuscan salad and her words were, "this is crave-able, like eating out of someone's kitchen." I got the quinoa salad, and I ordered the half and was more than enough! A cute little meet up spot for breakfast/coffee in Escondido. I asked the worker for recommendations on something that's 'different' and he ended up recommending the Good Day Sunshine. I would definitely recommend coming here and trying anything on their menu. Just a side street over from Grand Street downtown there is a large public parking center across the street. It's a very tiny, unassuming shop with outdoor seating and a couple small tables inside. You can order from your table with a QR code (but not more than 10 items) 9r at the counter. Hands down THE best Arnold Palmer I've ever had. About $150 for 7 people so maybe a touch pricey for some but the food is high quality and it all tasted great. The owners are there working and the staff is super friendly. Caprese panini-goat cheese, fresh tomatoes, pesto and the most delicious bread ever. Also said his sandwich was the best sandwich. I had a chicken artichoke panini, which is seasonal, but I let the owner know he can have it all year around and we would come gobble it up, gladly. My husband opted for the breakfast sandwich, called The Works, and it was also incredibly tasty. We didn't speak while eating, that's how great our food was. We also saw they had baked goods, so we went for the dozen mini cookies, and as someone who thinks she makes killer cookies...I'm sad to admit that these might be better than mine. I can admit defeat! So the place itself is pretty small, but cozy. They have some indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside and it was fun looking into the kitchen and watching everyone cook! I'm always amazed that Broken Yolk gets the business it does with excellent breakfast places like Sunnyside Kitchen in existence. Family run, banter between generations is free of charge. Family staffed, and definitely complete with a family feel. Service is like you stepped onto the back porch of the most welcoming neighbor and they called you in for something they just "whipped up". The food is exemplary, I won't go over all the praise they have garnered except to say it is all well deserved. The Knick knacks are on point, not going overboard, giving it a good lived in feel but not so much you feel like they raided an out of business Applebees. My only complaint is that they have not branched out yet and expanded south so that they are closer to me. Definitely put this on your restaurant list. I can't wait to come back for lunch. read more

One full sandwich was $19 and if it was the best sandwich ever that's okay, but it wasn't. It seemed put together in a rush (even though it took 20 minutes to actually get the food) and the inside of the sandwich was still cold. They're sandwiches are super fresh and hand crafted, they are friendly and fast, even within the small walls and during a big lunch rush!! My fave is the tuna melt and mushroom barley soup. Arrived here and there was a small line, about 3 people ahead of us. Not too bad. They offer seats inside the dining area, outside of the place, and also have a few seats towards the back of the restaurant. You have to walk through the kitchen to access the back area. Ordered their house lemonade (just a normal lemonade; nothing special there) Ordered half sandwich of Pesto chicken, and half sandwich of "The works" The toast they used tasted great. It had some Tuscan herbs on it. Overall, it was a quiet and warm breakfast place. I would recommend coming here when you need a grab-n-go, or simply need a small breakfast.
