    Chicken bowl
    Vasily K.

This has got to be some of the worst food locally. I needed a bite in a pinch and got the closest thing to me which was regrettably this spot. I got the small chicken bowl which came out to about 12 bucks. It was maybe one entire chicken thigh served at room temp with a ton of rice and piping hot veggies. The rice was unseasoned and the veggies were swimming in grease. I threw out the entire thing because it was inedible. Prices may be higher but you can't just serve garbage like this. Two stars because I was definitely not hungry after getting my meal.

    Bento box with tempura
    Steve ..

Have driven by a few times and finally went in to grab some lunch. Interior was very dingy and smelled like cleaning supplies so we opted Togo. Ordered the bento box with tempura and the teriyaki chicken with gyozas. The teriyaki chicken was good, tempura was very good except the zucchini which was cut to thick making it hard in the middle. The gyozas were just some cheap frozen gyozas as well as the egg roll, fried up and overcooked! The rice was good as well as the little salad you receive. The service here super fast, makes ya wonder....... Will definetly not be returning here!

Miso soup, some "california roll" plate of teriyaki and yakisoba

Could have always been better, no one knew what unagi sauce was, miso soup was mad flavored with soy sauce and the food was subpar, salad dressing for salad was ranch...are you ioking??? I would not go back there again. Would rather go to Happy teriyaki or just not even have sushi or any Japanese food for that matter, and definitely never Trappers. I'd pay$ but drive thru teriyaki shops, are definitely not the way to go. All posers

    "Tempura" shrimp? Not a chance
    Julie R.

AWFUL! So disappointing! Should not be able to call their food Japanese. Potatoes are not a tempura vegi! 'Tempura' shrimp was thickly coated, not tempura battered, with raw dough on the inside and extremely over cooked and chewy shrimp. Gyoza were not gyoza, rather deep fried pre-fab potstickers. Same for egg roll and cream cheese won tons. Won tons are supposed to be light and flaky, not thick and hard and still doughy on the inside. Katsu sauce was a gravy. Meat was super thin and dry. Fried rice was horrid. A big gloop of one of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten. Dark brown with frozen peas, carrots and corn and mushy. Only edible food was the side salad, which they don't provide dressing for.

I currently work here so I'll remain honest! If you're into fried food and also have an appetite for two people, this is your go to Asian restaurant! It's been a family owned business for 23 years so they must be doing it right for sure! Also, for those of you folk who have been relying on the online menu that hasn't been updated for a few years... HERE IS THE UPDATED VERSION!! **They've discontinued their sushi as of April 1st, 2017**

    Menu as of 11/2018

They've had a 'help wanted' sign out front for quite some time so I'm not surprised but the drive through is now offically closed. We still head in frequently for our fried rice and teriyaki fix but wanted to update to include they've moved over to UberEats and online ordering (link in pics) probably to compensate for short staffing.

Definitely worth a try! I ordered the karaage chicken bowl. There was a lot of chicken pieces and a heavy serving of "egg fried rice" underneath. Very filling, and very delicious. The chicken is fried, and it comes with green onion which breaks up the creamy richness from the egg and fried chicken flavors. It was so much food, I had leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. The entrees come with miso soup before the meal arrives at your table, so we were happy with the fried chicken skin appetizer and miso soup starter, then to finish it off with our entrees. Everything tasted good, hot and fresh. The staff were friendly, fast, and attentive. It's located in a shopping strip next to a gas station. It's a great spot for a hearty, quick bite to eat.

The broth was rich. The pork decent. The udon noodles much better than the alternative (which were not prepared properly - and thus difficult to chew). The service was really the main issue we encountered. When you walk into a space with the aesthetic of Yoko Yoko, you expect to be treated to excellent table service. Instead you are left with a code on your table to scan - all ordering done through an app (with few modification options). When you need staff assistance, you are left to wander around the restaurant and try to hail someone. It doesn't make for a great impression (and it certainly doesn't match the ambiance). Overall, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. But the service definitely needs to change to make it a "go-to" spot for us.

Well it was not, probably my fault but I thought they might take pity on me for my ignorance... lol I called right away to check on one order that was to be very specific, and was honest in explaining I may have done it incorrectly online, but needed to correct the order before pick up, the kind hostess put me on hold and came back to let me know that they had already started cooking it and there was nothing they could do, they would just throw it out, but I could order a new order as if I was going to try doing that again online. We ordered 5 meals, so it wasn't like we were trying to get a freebie by any means. So since I was still in need of the specific meal, I braved the online ordering again, with the hopes I did it correctly. Very surprised and taken a back by the lack of "Good Customer" service, especially from a longtime local establishment.

HI LIFE is an exception, and will be a go-to going forward. The Poke sho-ka-do box is a great option for open minded first-timers.
