The server was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He spent the time explaining the different saké options and answering our food related questions. The sushi was rolled exquisitely and was extremely fresh. The restaurant is closed in the middle of the day, so either come for lunch or come for dinner. They have a large amount of gluten-free rolls, all of which are clearly labeled on the menu. read more

Hubby and I went on a Friday night and were seated right away. Modern inside with a good amount of seating. My husband ordered sushi rolls which I forgot to get pictures of. I ordered the spicy seafood ramen and it was delicious! A good variety of seafood and the broth was perfect spicy. I would order it again. We also tried coconut and a match sake. Tilapia is a mild, freshwater fish that's often considered less flavorful and less fatty, which makes it less ideal for raw preparations. It's not a bad place by any means, food was decent with minimal complaints, my family prefers the sushi at another place in silverdale more. Pricing seemed a little higher than what we felt it was worth, however in all fairness, we did get our food to go; I won't discount that the food may be better when eating in as opposed to getting it to go. I will still give it another chance before finalizing my thoughts on it, however as of now it wouldn't be my first choice but more likely still in my top 3-4 in silverdale read more

I have delivered for dozens of restaurants around town and this one is the worst. If you drive for Doordash or Uber Eats, they will make you wait up to an hour for your order as they keep telling you "soon". They make you stand or sit on a hardwood bench while you wait, they only update you every 10-20 minutes if you're lucky, and if they don't like you asking how much longer it will be, they'll give you a bad review. I do not get paid by the hour, yet these absolute scumbags who do are ruining my livelihood due to their own sheer incompetence. Absolute trash these people are, especially the worthless manager who was working at the time. And looks like the owner is a lowlife POS, too. I'll be back when this place goes out of business to laugh at you incompetent losers. read more

There was 3 issues when i went there. 1) I asked the server if the chicken katsu donburi is basically a Oyakodon and they ensured me that it was. What came out was egg whites layered on top of the chicken katsu (no yolk and was not cooked together) this was disappointing and i would've preferred something else. The server didnt know where was the yolk. 2) Then i ordered a second Kirin bottle and it tasted gross. Only after drinking half did I realize that it was expired for six months! They offered to replace it with another but it already too late. 3) I bit into tempura pieces and one of them was broccoli. The texture threw me off and it was white inside. It turned out it was uncooked batter hidden in between the leaves. read more

Deeeeelicious! First time trying jo:a tonight, my mom is a huge fan so we stopped in right at 5pm on a Tuesday. It was already relatively busy, but we were seated quickly and food was very prompt! We had the "Giant" roll, bento box with chicken katsu, chicken teriyaki, and shrimp/veggie tempura, takoyaki (my favorite), and tempura Brie with jam (SO good but filling, recommend getting it for a group of 3 as we got full fast)! For the record, Jo:a's is OPEN. We had lunch there today FEB 1, 2023. We've been coming here for years. I love the fish quality and normally our go-to is salmon nigiri, the giant roll, miso salmon collar, fried oysters. I recommend all of those! Today, we tried some of their new specials! The Spicy Mania roll is my new favorite. Perfect texture and flavor between the spicy tuna, scallops, jalapeno, and habanera. And it's beautiful. Volcano Roll, the spicy crab on top is amazing. Highly highly recommend! The jalapeno poppers were really fun and surprising, lots of flavor and I love the sauces on it! The sushi here is fantastic quality, and I recommend trying out their new menu items! read more

My son chose Jo:a for his 8th birthday meal since he loves sushi. We got the takoyaki, spicy edamame and tempura chips for apps. The takoyaki went too fast for a pic. They were SO good. Exactly how you get them in Tokyo. The edamame was my 4yo's fave. Everyone LOVED the food and you get a lot. There were leftovers. The guy who used to do their soups, which my family loved, moved to a separate place, right next door, but as far as I can tell, food's still pretty good - although I really only go here for sushi. We order take out (because of COVID) and it was our first time trying jo:a. The staff was nice, the rolls were a good size, and actually quite affordable! It was so cool that they labeled the box for us to know which roll was which! However, I wish they would let customers know they do this because I have a shellfish allergy but my husband does not. This time he did not order anything with shellfish, but if he had, I wooodnt not have been able to eat it due to being in the same box. But many many kudos on the default of reducing plastic waste! I came here to fix my ramen cravings but apparently they don't serve ramen anymore so I settled for Udon--so be warned. I came in around 6:15p (dinner time), pretty busy. Anyway, I ordered Udon and there's barely any broth in it. I asked for extra broth and the waitress came back with miso soup. She told me they're out of broth. Wait. What? It's dinner time. How are you out of broth? I got the shoyu chicken udon, nothing to really write home about. Also, the spicy tuna nacho, don't get it. Pretty bland. Nothing special. Look at my pics. I haven't tried other items on their menu so I am only writing about my first time experience here but I am unimpressed. Maybe I'll return for other items just to be fair. We really enjoyed this restaurant. We were seated immediately and quickly greeted by our waiter. We ordered some edamame that was loaded with garlic and a touch of spice. The menu was a bit confusing on the seasoning, still very good. We also ordered the lollipop chicken wings. They were sweet and spicy regular old wings not lollipops, not sure why the name. The two rolls we had were excellent. The X File was a little spicy, creamy and the pop of tobiko was perfect. We also had the Kappa Sashimi roll that was wrapped with cucumber, no rice. It was our favorite. The platter of sashimi was cold and had an excellent selection of White tuna, salmon, tuna, yellowtail and albacore. The final touch was the amazing spicy tuna hand roll. Perfect amount of sesame oil, spice and a lot of tuna wrapped with crisp seaweed. We will be back and I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Wonderful fresh sushi! We live in the Seattle area so I feel very cautious when trying sushi places outside of King County. We were thoroughly impressed with not only the food but also the service of our waitress Kassandra. She was the perfect balance of personable and professional. The sushi had great balances of everything. We were especially impressed by the veggie roll "jo:a garden" we don't typically order veggie rolls but we were so happy we ordered this one! The pomegranate sauce was a great compliment. We also ordered the crazy, yummy yummy, and salmon sashimi. The garlic edemame was a delicious starter. I wrote a review for jo:a awhile Back and I thought I'd update it. As I said before for, in town it's a pretty decent spot for ramen and sushi. Every time I go there I always order Ramen and it's been consistent. But tonight I was quite disappointed. it came out cold, Like who eats ramen cold ??? The broth was off and the flavor was not on point. Usually it's consistent but tonight idk what it is but i was not impressed. I still like going to Jo:a for the sushi and appetizers. I've struggled finding a good sushi place out here locally, and honestly this place beats most in every aspect. I ordered the spicy maniac because I am a spicy food connoisseur, and I was struggling (which is a good thing). The waitress might've been the best I've ever had, she was attentive and kind. TLDR: The inferior service at this establishment outweighs the above average food. I've been here 6 times, four of them were quite good, the other 2 we had terrible terrible service. I know, "if it was so bad why did you go back?" The food was good, and the bad visits were interspersed between the great ones. The first bad visit, 2 of our party were served their entrees very quickly, while the other 2 entrees for our party took an additional 1 hour for their simple bento boxes to come out. The waitress admitted to forgetting the order, twice. The final straw for us was this evening. We came in at around 5, it was busy, as expected for Saturday at 5. We asked how long and were told 25 minute wait. That was acceptable, no one was concerned over the wait time. We sat and waited, and at the 45 minute mark after 3 tables of similar number were seated who had arrived 15 minutes later than us we asked what was happening. Apparently there was a plan; and we were to be seated at a 4 top and a 2 top pushed together. After the one hour mark of waiting and the table we had been told would be ours was given to a group that walked in, we threw in the towel and won't ever come back. I did the math. We have historically spent over $3000 here, tipping 20% and that's just as a family, doesn't count the times the parents came solo. This money will now go to Trappers, or Peters Kitchen next door whose service are superior in every way, and product are comparable quality. read more

Update: We've gone back a good 5 times now and freaking love it. The service has been great and the food even better. By far our favorite sushi spot! We went in last night for the first time and had a pretty good experience. One that left us all saying that we will be back, which is always a good sign. On a Friday night at 6, we had a 30 minute wait. Not bad. We ended up getting sat at the bar and while we were at first a little bummed, that quickly went away when we realized our seats meant we got to watch the sushi watching magic. The service was decent. Our water glasses would sit empty for just a couple minutes, but she would always swing by and refill. It wasn't knock your socks off service, but it was good enough that we weren't feeling frustrated. Now, the freaking food. They have a massive list of sushi roll options and with the great prices, choose a few. I got the teriyaki chicken roll, shrimp tempura roll and the fried California roll. The fried California roll is hands down my favorite sushi I've ever had. It was so good. The teriyaki was good, but could have used a little more flavor and the tempura is good everywhere. My friend got the deluxe sushi plate and she enjoyed it. I don't eat anything raw so I just admired her beautiful plate. The house salad was good as well. We tried the ginger dressing and the sesame dressing and all agreed that ginger is the way to go. Now, the show stopper. You have to ask for the dessert menus because they will bring you the check before you even get the chance to order it. But get the tempura Oreos! They are amazing. Big mound of ice cream and 8 Oreos on the plate for $8. For salad, three rolls and the Oreos my check came out to $30. The only thing I didn't love, was the row of tables closest to the door is so close that the people waiting for tables are literally so close behind them that they could read their menus with them. I would wait longer to not be seated at one of those tables, but I'm also a fan of personal space so that might be a 'me' thing Like I said up top. We will be back! read more

Uhhh sometime the reviews could be a bit overwhelmed. In Kitsap County, there aren't a lot of Japanese restaurants that are authentic. This place is seen to be decent until I saw their price on the menu. It's a bit overpriced. My friend got their "Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box" which cost $ 23, I mean what is your chicken made of... organic or something. I mean usually I don't care much about the price or whatever but for a bento box like that its a little over what I usually paid for. I was very craving for some curry that day, so I got their "Chicken Katsu Curry Udon." It was actually really good, but once again the price for that is a little bit overpriced. It cost $18. The bowl looks large but the size of the food is little. One small piece chicken thigh... but its alright I was hungry and craving for what I want. I haven't tried their sushi roll or sashimi yet so I don't know. The service there are friendly, fast, and attentive. That is a big plus for this restaurant, it was busy when I went there that day. They did a great job asking us that there should be a table ready soon. Overall, this restaurant is good, but just their price on some item should change a little. Because I travel extensively on business, eating meals in a restaurant just aren't very special too me. It really becomes a task to post a review. Last night was different. I've been a little under the weather this last week, and finally feeling better, it was the wife's suggestion to try something different for dinner. At her suggestion we went to Jo:a Japanese Restaurant last night...humm, almost standing room only because it was so busy. We brought my wife's mother (94-years old) with us. After only a short wait, we were seated. Very nice decor, warm atmosphere...I counted 8 cooks working in the kitchen...that's a surprise. There was food continuously being delivered to all the tables. Anyway, after being seated we ordered drinks, the ladies knew what they wanted for dinner, so I was the holdup needing to digest all the menu items before I could decide... Grandma ordered the chicken yakasoba, the wife ordered chicken teriyaki...I ordered two items, the Ninja sushi dish, and the spicy beef ramen. First to arrive at our table was the ladies miso soup...then followed by their entree. Shortly, the ninja sushi arrived, then the spicy beef ramen soup. I think that the ladies enjoyed their dinner, I was too busy savoring my sushi and soup. They were fantastic. The ninja sushi included, about 8 individual pieces, with shrimp tempura, crab,, unagi, yellowtail, and salmon. This was remarkable. The spicy beef ramen had a good mix of thin ramen noodles and ground beef, with a very tasty broth with scallions. Excellent. I don't know for sure, but by all indications, and observing the wait staff gravitate towards one single lady...she looks to be the one in charge...this might be a family owned small business...we enjoyed ourselves, I think you will too. After 8 years and a lot of traveling, this place is still my favorite Japanese restaurant in the country.

I guess coming from Reno and used to all the AYCE Sushi Places, it's hard to pay a la carte. Lunch gets kind of pricey. Service was good, food was good. They are not just Sushi, but a full Japanese Restaurant. My daughter in law had a Bento Box for just $10 that she throughly enjoyed. I went for some Nigiri and a roll ... pieces of fish were quite large and the roll was big too, and not just filled with rice. They did have a bar, but since it was cold out (yes cold in the state of WA before noon in August!) we had hot green tea. If in a mood for sushi, I'd definitely come back. Been awhile since I went to this place, but I recently came here for a friend's birthday dinner and their food was still as delicious as ever. We started off with coconut prawns and spicy tuna nachos as appetizers, and my friends and I LOVED the spicy tuna nachos. I would honestly come back just to get that starter. The wonton chips were thin, perfectly crispy and flaky, and it just went so well with the chunky spicy tuna - definitely would recommend. As for the rolls, my friends and I really like their specialty rolls. My friends ordered their go-to's, the Ninja roll, and I got my favorites, the Mango Paradise and Yummy Yummy. I'm completely obsessed with their Mango Paradise roll. The mango flavors compliment the roll so nicely, making it delicately tangy and sweet! If you still have some room for dessert I would definitely recommend getting their Banana Tempura Sunday. My absolute fav.
