I'm super conflicted about this review because while the food is good the service from the waitress Terry is SO BAD. Although there were many tables open she would not seat me until my friend came so I was left to wait and awkwardly nurse my baby on the little bench by the front door. A different woman who also works there came up and offered coffee and a pleasant greeting only to be rudely and unnecessarily interrupted by Terry. Once my friend arrived and we were seated Terry disappeared without asking what my friend would like to drink. When she abruptly came back she took our order without asking either of us how we would like our eggs cooked. (They came sunny side up although I prefer hard) She never offered to refill my coffee or if we needed anything but was quick to slam the bill down 10 minutes into the meal and angrily come back every 3 minutes to see if our payment was ready. Then when we did put our cards out she snapped them up and took off without asking how we would like it split it... Keep in mind, the restaurant was very slow with maybe 4 occupied tables. When walking back to our table Terry was trying so hard to make a disgusted face at us that she wasn't watching where she was walking and crashed into a chair knocking it over. Wtf?! I took my friend who just moved to Denver here because the food is so great and I thought it would be so fun but now I am just angry and embarrassed. I tried Sunny's for the first time today and loved it. I got their special scramble (egg, cheese, bacon, chorizo, green chili, sour cream, and avocado); delish! There was so much food that I was able to bring home half of the scramble and potatoes to my husband. I also really loved their chai tea. I kind of want to live here. My wife and I went for Sunday brunch, and it was all I'd hoped it would be. The menu is bursting with delicious options, and the portions are ample. Plus, my wife has celiac and there were plenty of gluten-free options, and they went out of their way to prep her food in a way to reduce cross-contamination. We split the Good Night, which is aptly named since I wanted to take a nap after taking down this scrumptiousness, and the special that was some sort of chorizo scramble -- I got the pork green chili on the side, and I dunked pretty much everything in it because it was so good. 10 stars! I am so freaking giddy that Sunny's is within walking distance from my mom's house that I am like a kid on Christmas morning. My mom and I decided to do a breakfast date on Saturday and walked over to Sunny's for the first time. How do you spell addicted, dear Yelpers? Well I am currently spelling it S-U-N-N-Y-S. We were greeted promptly and our waiter directed us through the menu. I got the Rhody which is delectable pieces of pork belly topped with perfectly cooked eggs stacked on top of apples and Johnny cakes (corn cakes). All of this is topped with homemade Hollandaise (I know that is spelled incorrectly, but I am too excited to look up how to spell it. Don't judge). Went on a Saturday around noon. The place was packed but since it was just 2 of us we were seated within 15 min. I liked the fact that they had coffee available at the front while you wait (you end up being charged $2 at the end of your meal). Our waitress was very friendly and explained all of the options they offer (veggie and gluten free options). The food was really good but we waited a very long time for the food to come. The one thing I have struggled to find in Denver has been a go-to spot for my favorite meal, breakfast. There have been a few I thought might do it but each one comes up short in some way. Sunny's has been on my list for several months and I finally had a chance to check out after New Years. This place immediately had striking similarities to my favorite spot in Long Beach, CA from the location, the neighborhood, the interior, the surrounding businesses, etc. It was sort of eery but almost meant to be. Ok, enough of that! LOL. In all seriousness, it was very similar to the place I used to love out west but the only question remained after I scoped it out is how would the food compare. As we sat there waiting for our food, we watched people get served all around us and every dish looked amazing. I felt that I probably could have ordered half the menu (at least!). Finally, our dishes came out and both lived up to the expectations. I went with the Pigs in the Blanket (still confused on the name). It was definitely a take on the Vietnamese vermicelli dishes you'd find at a Pho place. This was unconventional but I just had to... and it was great. My girlfriend went with Mangia, which was equally delicious but in a completely different way. I definitely want to come back to try some of the other interesting dishes on the menu while hoping that the quality meets our already high expectations again. SO good! My fiancé and I are visiting and want to only eat at local places. This place is really good breakfast food, way better than IHOP. My fiancé got the Delish (a version of eggs benedict) and I got the 2by2. Their pancakes are massive but delicious! Everything tasted extremely fresh, probably never frozen. Visited this spot last Saturday with my husband while on vacation. Our Airbnb host recommend it and told me about the benedicts. Since that's one of my favorite breakfast items we had to try it and we were glad we did. We were seated quickly out front and didn't wait long for water and orange juice. It is my husband's and my tradition now to go to Sunny's every Sunday after church. We usually get there around 9am before the big rush. There can be a wait; but it's not long, and it's worth it. If you like coffee like my husband, you can grab a mug and fill up while waiting (they'll include it on your bill at the end). As for food, we stick to what we know and love (but I'm sure everything else is delicious too). I love the Mangia or the blueberry pancakes. The hubby can't get enough of the PB&J bowl. So far EVERYTHING has been beyond amazing. Here are my reviews for what I have tried so far: Delish Sunny - Such a unique and genius concoction. You get two small pancakes topped w a sausage patty, egg, hollandaise, and syrup with a side of potatoes. It is sooo delicious. Such a great mix of sweet and salty. Acai bowl - perfect for a hot day. My boyfriend ALWAYS gets this. You get Acai Berry sorbet topped w granola, almonds, fruits and toasted coconut. It's sooo refreshing. Fruits are so fresh and the toasted coconut is such a treat. Bomber - bacon with cauliflower, onions, cherry peppers topped with cheddar cheese and eggs with an awesome sauce on the side. I feel like this one doesn't get enough attention. The bacon is fantastic - that along w some real fresh veggies plus that sauce has such a unique and delicious flavor. Homemade hash - legit stuff. I love that it's not too salty. Big portions and really good. Good Night sandwich - This one is not my favorite but it's still very good. It's their homemade chorizo with eggs, avocado, tomatoes and Boursin cheese between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Yeah, you're definitely ready to say good night after that. Haha. It's delicious but too hearty for me. Grilled cheese sunny - I was really craving for a grilled cheese one day and decided to boldly order this one. It's a grilled cheese topped w eggs, tomatoes, arugula and hollandaise. Like I said, bold move. I'm telling you though, this one works. It just somehow all together works. Pigs in a blanket - probably my favorite of all the dishes. It's like an Asian rice noodle bowl w their delicious Asian spiced pork belly, cucumber carrot salad, cilantro, a sriracha sauce on the side that you can mix in with this lovely concoction and lettuce leaves on the side where you can place the good stuff and chomp away. There are no words. All the flavors just work so good together. They also have groovy coffee. They have a coconut syrup that you can add to their lattes that which makes quite a treat. Sunny's known for their classic benedicts with sunny-side up eggs instead of poached eggs. So, my boyfriend and I decided to order two different types of benedicts: (1) Rhody (2) Delish. Rhody comes with delicate white corn Johnny cakes, pork belly, spiced apples, smoked salt, sunny side-up, and creamy hollandaise. I wasn't a fan of the Johnny cakes and would prefer the benedict on an English muffin but overall, everything together seemed quite tasty. There was nothing too extraordinary but it was pretty good. On the other hand, Delish is very well known and our waitress recommended it to us; however, it was very typical. Besides the fact that it is unique to use a pancake instead of an English muffin for a benedict, it was typical in the sense that everything together tasted like a typical breakfast. From pancakes to American cheese to Sausage to sunny-side up eggs, every components of the benedicts seemed very typical but just placed on top of each other with a hollandaise on the top to call it a benedict. (Tip: the maple syrup drizzled on the benedict made the dish too sweet, so I would recommend asking for the syrup on the side) In addition, both benedicts are served with potatoes, which were really good. My boyfriend is not a lover of potatoes but even he admitted that it was good. TIPS: I heard the Grilled Cheese and "Good Night" is amazing! (but I haven't tried it so I can't say that in fact is true) Overall, Sunny's was good but I've had better brunch. If I lived close to this location, I might come often for a quick breakfast if I am too lazy to cook; however, for a 35 minute drive from my house, personally, it is not worth the drive and time to go to this restaurant and eat brunch when I have a favorite spot 15 minutes away. Wow! My first experience at this place and im already excited to return. 3 different servers routinely check on my son and I, and I love that. Our waitress seemed to know the menu like the back of her hand and was very helpful in giving us recommendations, as well as a brief history of the restaurant and it's owner. It was nice to see the owner of the place cooking our food in that clean little kitchen. (Yes it's an open kitchen) The food was delish and plentiful, and the coffee good. I highly recommend the Heuvos rancheros. It was a work of art. Almost felt bad for digging in. I am new to this neighborhood and we go out for breakfast on Saturday's quite often. I thought the Universal was gonna take a while to be one up'd but this place has easily done that with it's food, neighborhood feel, and service. I eat at Sunny's so frequently that half the front of housers know me by name. They are warm, friendly people, who seem to have a good time working there. I really love this place, so I'm writing a detailed review. I'm no culinary expert; just what people mean when they use the word "foodie." Without question Sunny's is my go-to neighborhood bruncherie. I first tried it on a whim, and I've enjoyed every meal I've eaten there (probably 30-ish times by now). My favorite regular menu items are the Mangia, the Bomber, and the Encore. But, I almost always order one of the daily special scrambles. The chef/owner's creative whims haven't disappointed me yet. He pairs breakfast staples (scrambled eggs, house-recipe seasoned potatoes, and toast) with whichever vegetables, cheese, sauce, or herbs strike his fancy on a given weekend. Usually they feature both a vegetarian and an omnivore's scramble, or occasionally waffle specials that are the devil. They house make both strawberry jam and orange marmalade (this is my favorite thing on the menu), as well as cheeses, sauces, and sausage. The place is tiny (seats 40 max inside, I'd guess), cutely minimalist but cozy, with dog-friendly sidewalk seating in nice weather, and my idea of a good-find hole-in-the-wall eatery. The food is fresh, tasty, and priced comparably with the chain breakfast places around (e.g. Village Inn, so Sunny's is a much better meal at the same price). It's in a good location in the middle of Sunnyside, and the food comes out fairly quickly, presented as it well it tastes. It's true what other reviewers have said; Sunny's is getting pretty popular and doesn't take reservations, so if you go during prime brunching hours on weekends you'll wait a while before being seated. (Not the hour-upon-hour wait for weekend brunch at Snooze, for example, but definitely up to an hour.) There is only street parking (unmetered), but I've never had to park more than a block away even when they were at their busiest. Even when they're packed I've never waited more than ten-ish minutes from ordering until my meal was served because they don't seat a new party until a few minutes before the kitchen is ready to start cooking for them. read more

This is a nice casual spot to grab breakfast if you're in the area. We've come here a couple times and have enjoyed it. We usually like to come here after a hard workout since it's more of a casual joint. We also enjoy sitting on the patio and taking our dog, if he's being well behaved! The service is always friendly. Sometimes, I wonder if I write too many five star reviews. But sunny's was so damn good, so I don't even care. It isn't my fault they're awesome and I want to put everything on their menu in my mouth immediately. Plus, I was only in Denver a couple weeks, and this was one of the few repeats I allowed because the first time, it was so exactly what I wanted. The first time, my friend and I split the breakfast sandwich--the one made with grilled cheese sammiches on either end. It had eggs, bacon, avocado, and we were hooked. It was the perfect size for us to split, in addition to the massive amounts of coffee we drank. Because the coffee is AMAZING. Also, the home fries it came with were incredible.
