I wish someone had told me this before I went: They will refuse to do an exam on your cat, but they'll still charge you for an exam. Just paid $350 to have no exam done but for my cat do be drugged and stressed out for days. They will only examine your cat if your cat is 100% docile or pumped full of potentially fatal sedatives. If your cat so much as flinches or growls (which any cat-owner knows is normal at a vet!), they will refuse to do an exam. They claim it's because they don't want to stress out your cat, but let's be real. Five minutes of being burritoed is way less stressful for most kitties than having drugs in their system for days, especially if they've got kidney problems and/or are elderly like my fur-baby. Save your time and money, don't go here. Make sure to call vets ahead of time to see what their procedures are. I would have done that if I'd thought such a nonsensical thing were even a possibility (which it never has been with any other vet). read more

The Sunnyvale Cat Clinic is truly a feline-centric practice. It is located in a completely separate building from the main Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic (which also accepts dogs.) The Cat Clinic is quiet and the very knowledgeable staff calm. Appointments always run on time and the waiting area is rarely crowded, adding to the positive visit experience. In addition, the staff is amazing at dealing with skittish cats. Dr. Hanney and Dr. Hermansen are feline specialists with extensive feline training and practice. Both have done a tremendous job helping us with some challenging cases over the years. Prices at the Cat Clinic might be a bit higher than at some other veterinary practices, but to us the expertise and calm environment are worth it. We wouldn't take our cats anywhere else. read more

I previously came to this clinic with my late German Shepherd. He was not good with going the vets as the previous vet that I took him to traumatized him and he became very aggressive with any vet after. The medical team here were very understanding and handled him with care and made exceptions where they could so he could be more comfortable in my truck. They also helped by giving him medication to help relax him when he had to go to the vet. They by far handled him the best. I now have another dog and tried going to another vet because going back to the clinic was hard after loosing my GS. But the care at the other clinic doesn't even come close so I have come back as I want the best for my new puppy. read more

Been coming here for a few years now and definitely happy with this clinic. Most recently took my little man in for a check up because I think he got in a fight with an outside cat while we were on vacation. They weren't able to see him until a day after we initially called but understandable as we called late on a Sunday night. The main vet/Dr was super thorough with explaining everything and had answered eveey question I had. We have also brought other cats here and have been very happy with the service. I've been taking my cat here for several years and have had nothing but great experiences. Karen and the rest of the front desk are efficient in getting appointments scheduled and answering any questions that I have (and sometimes I have a lot). The staff are always quick to respond and take impressively meticulous notes. Shout out to Shawna and Dr. Hanney (and I'm sure many others behind the scenes) for their help during some kitty health scares earlier this year. They helped with my cat, and also helped calm my fear and anxiety. That was a tough time, and I appreciate their skill and empathy, and ability to accommodate some urgent last minute appointments. Poor kitty has needed a lot of care in the past couple of years, and I am so glad we've found Sunnyvale Cat Clinic. We take our beloved cat to Sunnyvale Vet because they truly care about keeping pets happy and healthy. Our Siamese cat was a neighborhood stray -- his former owners never caring that he was in the unsafe streets. The vets here helped us with diet changes and some badly needed dental care. The cat was moody, not super cuddly, and would growl at times. After having several teeth removed, our cat was like a different pet. I've been a client for 4 years, since my dog was just a puppy. Each time I came I had a new vet tech, never really met the doctor. I felt like no one really knew Indie, my pup, just someone new everytime. This most recent visit, I wanted to attention to her eyes that were very red and she had been fighting allergies for about a week. I wanted to make an in person appointment so Indie and I visited this most recent Friday. The dog clinic was closed upon arrival at 8:30am. No email notification was recieved that they'd be closed. I called the main line and the cat clinic responded. I let them know I was outside the dog clinic with my pup & needed some help. They told me I could walk over to the cat clinic for assistance. I walk over from the dog clinic and as soon as I open the door to the cat clinic, without a greeting, the receptionist shouts out "no dogs allowed." I explained she told me I could walk over. Immediately another vet walks over and says "no dogs allowed & we're not taking new patients." I responded with "I'm not a new patient, I've been with you for 4 years." She hesitantly made an appointment for me, but I really didn't appreciate the introduction. I shortly then wrote out an email that asked if I could collect my dog's records as I'd be changing vets. They weren't at all curious why the relocation - simply provided me with what I needed and that was it. It feels like there's no genuine concern to get to know the client or your fur baby. read more

I was fooled into doing blood tests our newly adopted dog didn't need - he'd had them all per the data sent to the clinic from precious vet. I was being "sold" many other tests , all of which had been done. IPlease don't take your pet here, you will be scammed and no one will care for your pet. I had to pay out of pocket 2000$ because of that. Once I asked you to do an appeal with insurance, you emailed us our pets paperwork and told us that you discontinue the care. So your clinic acted very destructively in this situation by discontinuing care when asked to help with insurance appeals. You put our poor cat through unnecessary anesthesia for ultrasound procedure and then even suggested biopsy. All our cat had was food poisoning. Your clinic is more focused on money making, than true love and compassion for pets. I would never recommend your clinic to anyone. It was a huge mistake to be a client of your clinic. read more

My rabbit passed away in their care during a spay procedure. There was no way in telling how my baby would react to the anesthesia but unfortunately it took her life. I chose this location because of their reviews and figured okay this must be a great place. I waited 3 months to get an appointment with a vet that "specialized" in rabbits. I dropped her off at 8:30am and was told she'd be ready for pick up after 3pm. I got a call around 10:30AM letting me know that she had stopped breathing and if I wanted them to continue to do CPR on her. I was upset they paused to call me to get permission even after the fact of me signing a contract that allowed for CPR. They called me back at 11:05am informing me she had passed away and that there was nothing they could do. I felt so upset, depressed, and stressed out. It's been 3 weeks since her passing. One of the assistants informed me she had a spunky attitude and was grunting and giving attitude before she was put under. If they would've called me to inform me she was acting this was, I would've told them to not proceed with the spay because when she acts that was she's extremely upset and stressed out. I wish they would've called me so that I could've told them not to do it :( I will never ever bring any animal here again. The saddest and worst part of it all was holding her deceased body and hearing the assistant on the line speaking to another patient about their guinea pig had trouble breathing after a procedure they've done and I just kept thinking there goes another dead animal under their care. Wow! Let me just say, the staff at Sunnyvale truly put me and my cat's nerves at ease (yes, I'm a protective mom to my baby). I recently moved to the area so I needed to quickly find a new vet, since Elizabeth was due for vaccinations. I'm so glad Sunnyvale was the first vet I went to! You can tell the staff really loves their furry clients. (and human ones, too) Scheduling an appointment was so easy and they even requested my cat's paperwork from the previous vet for me - I didn't have to do anything but show up! They also have an extremely convenient app and texting system so you can easily view your pet's info and/or contact the office. As soon as I arrived, the kind vet tech kindly allowed Elizabeth to take her time, as she was extremely nervous to get out of the car. I loved that she called my cat by her name and wanted her to feel really comfortable. With all the COVID-19 restrictions, it was definitely hard to not be able to comfort my cat, but the amazing staff called frequently to update me on the progress. Plus, it made me feel much better knowing I wasn't at risk for the virus from inside my car. The vet actually called me herself and discussed everything with me. She recommended some preventative medications, explaining that they had a pharmacy (super convenient) but I was also free to use another pharmacy if I wanted. This confirmed for me that the vets at Sunnyvale truly want my cat to be healthy, and not extra money in their pockets like many others. A few hours after coming home, I realized I had forgotten to ask about something relating to my cat's health. I called and the vet herself immediately called me back and kindly answered all of the questions I had. For those of you who own rats, you know that it is so difficult even finding a vet who will see them, let alone one who is experienced with treating them. After calling about 15 other places in the area, I found Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic who was able to see her that same weekend. Dr. Larkin is absolutely fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about her, from recommending a three part treatment plan for Tiny, to consistently answering follow-up questions over email and checking in. Separately another one of my rats developed pyometra which is often times deadly and requires an emergency spay. Unfortunately they weren't able to perform the surgery as it's more complex/ didn't have availability until the following week, however Dr. Larkin and the team actually called other clinics in the area and were able to find a place who could operate that same day. It's been a couple days since the operation and she even called me to see how Diamond was doing. For those looking for a good rat vet - look no further! Dr. Larkin's compassion for animals (even the tiniest ones!) really shines through and I'm glad to have found this clinic! read more

We have been taking our dog to this clinic for a little over a year and every time we take her we wait an extra 30+ mins before and/or after a scheduled appointment. This is the biggest issue I have with this clinic. They don't seem to value the customers or dogs time. This is a consistent issue not just one time, every single time we have had an appointment. The pricing seem a bit higher then normal as well so if you are looking for a new vet be prepared for a larger bill then normal. They seem very under staffed, I expect clear wait times for both pick up and drop off. If you are not able to provide that information to your customers you are understaffed. This is unacceptable. We've been bringing our two dogs here for the past two years and always trust that they will get best care. It's a bit of a drive from where we live, but we much prefer the care that we get from Sunnyvale Vet! Our dogs have seen Dr. Coyle and Dr. Sherman and both doctors have always spent a generous amount of time talking to us about our options for treatment + diagnosis and after care. They answer all of our questions with patience and thoroughness. They're very deliberate about their care and have a kind, gentle approach that puts pet owners at ease. (We recently had an abnormal renal panel at a different vet clinic and they immediately told us our dog had kidney disease. We took our dog back to Dr. Sherman and she took the time to explain everything without jumping to a diagnosis. After some monitoring, it turns out it was an acute kidney infection. But that other vet clinic made it seem like our dog was actively dying!) Currently, they're working through COVID-19 precautions and doing curbside service, so there's some wait time when you arrive and when they discharge. We appreciate that they're making the extra effort to keep the public and themselves safe, so the wait is not a big deal to us but be prepared to hang out for a bit! The vets and the staff are all so nice and respond to email or phone questions if we have something we're not sure about. BEWARE if you use the address online, it is incorrect! And apparently that is your fault! We really wanted to love this place. We took our bunny in a year ago and they saved her life. She kept getting ear mites, and we could not figure out a solution elsewhere. They prescribed Revolution, which improved the bunnys health 100%. Happy healthy bunny. Fast forward a year later, and it's time for another years worth of Revolution. I buy through Chewy and the order is rejected by the vet, because an exam is due. Sure no problem. In the meantime, we buy one dose from them until the exam can be scheduled. After we give the medication to the bunny, we notice it is the wrong one! We call in and they confirm that it will not harm the animal. Appointment day comes, and we google Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic and drive there using GPS. Not many vets are in our area so we drive from South San Jose. Appt is at 9:30 and GPS says 9:33 arrival. We call in to let them know and they acknowledge it. We pull up and notice it doesn't look right. We keep searching online and find out that there is some discrepancy and the address online is WRONG! We call in again and let them know it directed us to the wrong location, and they make note. They call us back 2 minutes later and tell us we need to reschedule! Or, we can do an urgent care drop off, which would cost us much much more. Not necessary for a simple exam. She told us that we had been there before, so we should know where it is! We couldn't believe it. Like we were lying. This irritated my wife, and the receptionist Abby started arguing with her. She tells us we are not welcome there now. At this point we are pulling up, and go inside. They are very confrontational and we let them know they are being very rude and unprofessional. Abby tells us that we are too! We tell them the issue with GPS and they don't even want to hear it or see what the issue is so they can fix it. We understand we are late, but there was literally NO ONE in the lobby or in the lot. The exam could have been done in the time we were talking. We ask to talk to the vet. Abby tells us to wait outside. No, we will wait inside. The vet comes out and we explain what happened, and how grateful we are for them saving her life a year ago. She hears us out, but we could tell she was on the defensive, and taking Abby's side of things. We tell her that we didn't even want the exam, we just needed the medicine that was saving our bunny's life. They agree to give us ONE more dose of Revolution with the promise that we reschedule another exam. We leave super stressed out.. Weekend passes and the office manager calls us Monday morning. He wants to hear our side of it. After a conversation, he then tell us that we are no longer welcome there! That they want a safe environment for their employees after the "altercation" with the staff! I'm totally astounded. How did we become the bad guys here?? The vets are awesome, but the front staff, Natalie, and Abby have been rude more than once. My wife and I are very easy going people, and service has to be REALLY bad in order to get us upset. In the end, they couldn't get over their pride, and put the customer first, understanding the issues on THEIR side. In the end it's not about us, it's about the ANIMALS!! Just care for the animal. I've been attending this veterinary clinic for a few months now, and only until now has my service been disappointing. I have a lizard who has been sick for months and my main doctor has been amazing. Unfortunately, she's been out so I completely understand. In the meantime, they gave me other services to contact, and they were not the best. At one point, when my pet's health got so bad, they offered to put her down with a vet who didn't even specialize in reptiles. I spoke with a cat veterinarian. If I had taken this advice, my lizard would not be alive today. Why were they so eager to put her down without consulting someone else? I'm glad I went to another far away to get some help. Fast forward to me having the ability to meet with an amazing doctor, Doctor Singh. He was visiting and replacing my doctor who was out. I had a meeting scheduled with him this coming week. They left a message on my phone saying that they had to cancel it, that he had been replaced, and that there are now zero veterinarians that work with lizards. They also didn't know when that would change. Of course, they apologized, but gave me no other options. They told me if I wanted to continue with Dr. Singh, I'd have to go to his main office, which is very far from my home. No referals, no help trying to get it scheduled with this other office. I was given a good luck and that's it, I was just dropped. It doesn't feel like they actually cared for my pet at all. I would not recommend coming here. especially if you own any reptiles (not like they have anyone who would be able to see you anyways). read more

Pro: They are doing their best. Con: They are doing their best. Whew, where to even start with this one. Sweet staff, but very disorganized (think: Bless their hearts). Every time you interact with someone its like you are starting over from scratch and no one talks to each other. Perhaps we had such a hard time due to their strict COVID policies, as I'm sure its really hard for a vet to understand a pet owner's needs from the phone in the parking lot. Our top priority for our 17 year old cat is to keep her happy for whatever remaining time she has. Sadly, seems like this message was never received. We brought her in for a check of thyroid so that we could continue getting refills of meds, and for eyedrops/meds for itchy eyes. Somehow the vet talked us into checking for worms so that we could also buy her flea medicine b/c a flea jumped onto one of them during the visit (supposedly from my cat - who I hold, cuddle and am around 24 hours every day and this has never happened to me...?). During that first visit they 'couldn't get the blood' b/c she was too upset (probably by the two HUGE dogs that went in right after her...?), so there's another visit. Also she had "A LOT of plaque" build up (never heard about that again so I guess it got better...?). If you are like me and choosing this vet b/c of the cat clinic, think again. They rarely use the cat clinic. 2 of the 3 visits we had were at the normal clinic. We had to beg to get into the cat clinic for the second visit so that we could make sure they would be able to get the blood (all this so that we can continue a medication we know the cat needs). We also had to beg to allow one of us to accompany her to help keep her calm for the blood draw. In general, it always felt like, we say "jump", you say "how high?" The final straw was the eye drops. After checking her eyes at the first visit, they allowed one refill of the eye drops but then insisted that they needed to re-check (also had the audacity to again suggest fleas, perhaps forgetting we already did the stool sample so you could test for worms and prescribe flea meds that she didn't need?). Again, we are looking to keep this cat comfortable for whatever precious time we have left. Policies are policies but when it comes at the expense of my pet that is where I have to draw the line. read more

I'm happy for those that love this clinic. But to be honest, I haven't really had the best feeling for them. They keep pushing for one of my dogs to get vaccines that are optional, and I've told them I don't want them for my dog. But when I asked for a quote to get a teeth cleaning, they added the vaccines that I specifically said I don't want. It left me feeling like all they cared about was $$ rather than listening to the owner about the dogs' needs. SECONDLY, when I took in my senior dog (different dog) for an emergency because he was desecrating red liquid, they said they didn't know what was wrong, gave him some antibiotic shots and sent us home with probiotics, which he didn't eat because he was in so much pain. They also didn't rule out intestinal blockage, which could have been the cause of his death two days later. Their diagnosis didn't add up, but I trusted them, and lost a good pal as a result. (I understand he was old, but doesn't take away from the lack of thorough care) I do not plan on taking my younger dog here anymore. Hope you have a better experience, but I did not. read more

I called twice to ask about costs and appointments and the people who answered the phone were quick and efficient, getting me in within 30 minutes and quoting the prices. Unfortunately, our beloved friendly stray cat had to be put to sleep. The office accommodated my neighbors and me as we said goodbye to our buddy. They explained the process and gave us as much time as we wanted. They made sure he wasn't in pain at the very end. The doctors are ok. For the price I would expect good service. I don't mind paying more as long as me and my dog are treated right. Christine/christline (she wouldn't give me her name again) has been so rude to me multiple times. Every time I call for an appointment or questions she is very rude. There has been times she has hung up on me. I even had the manager reach out to me saying he was sorry and she was new so it was a learning experience for her. But I have called agin multiple times since then and she has not improved one bit. Again I don't mind paying higher rates but please treat me right. And it also makes me nervous about leaving my dog for her needs there. read more

My family first started taking Frankie here to get treated for a burn he suffered from at a vet hospital in New York and he stayed here for almost a month in their care. I've been coming here for a while now and they treat my Frankie so well. He does has a little bit of separation anxiety (something I'm working on with him), but he does well in there care. Oswald had to have his tail amputated here. We found them through MedVet, which was our second emergency room visit for this ordeal after a horrible experience with Alta View (NEVER take your pet to Alta View). His surgery was reasonably priced and they were able to perform it immediately. We weren't nickel and dimed for anything, including having to have a bandage reapplied and the stitches removed weeks later. Overall trustworthy and we'll be continuing care for both dogs even though they definitely aren't the closest option for us, it's worth the extra little bit of drive. read more

Our Cairn Terrier enriched our lives for nearly 16 years, but finally had to be put down last September. This clinic took exceptional care of him for most of that time. The staff were always courteous, professional, helpful, respectful, and effective. The vets were all exceptional, knowledgeable, and easy to relate to as well. We were always kept well-informed and every option was explored in making sure our dog was given the best chance to live the best quality of life for as long as possible. This loss still hurts, but we take comfort in knowing that he lived a quality life, felt well-loved and appreciated as part of our family, and had the best of medicare care through this clinic. read more

I've taken my two mini aussie puppies here for all their new puppy visits and I have to say, the whole staff is incredible! Natalie especially took great care and made me feel comfortable handing my 5 lb babies over and checking me in and out.
