    Happy cat
    Lisa D.

We take our beloved cat to Sunnyvale Vet because they truly care about keeping pets happy and healthy. Our Siamese cat was a neighborhood stray -- his former owners never caring that he was in the unsafe streets. The vets here helped us with diet changes and some badly needed dental care. The cat was moody, not super cuddly, and would growl at times. After having several teeth removed, our cat was like a different pet. He started snuggling, stopped growling, and has become a sweet boy. Thank you for bringing our cat's real personality out and for keeping his care a priority. It makes a huge difference!!

Wow as a reptile owner (bearded dragon) im gonna be coming here for now on, not to throw shade but this clinic is WAYYYY better than Wildwood and Oakridge. I felt like I could trust my beardie with them here. I loved that i was able to come in the room with my beardie and was very pleased on how they treated her. The DR was gentle and nice and great and treated her with respect and care. The process was smooth and i truly felt like she knew what she was talking about. Very happy with my visit!

Wow! Let me just say, the staff at Sunnyvale truly put me and my cat's nerves at ease (yes, I'm a protective mom to my baby). I recently moved to the area so I needed to quickly find a new vet, since Elizabeth was due for vaccinations. I'm so glad Sunnyvale was the first vet I went to! You can tell the staff really loves their furry clients. (and human ones, too) Scheduling an appointment was so easy and they even requested my cat's paperwork from the previous vet for me - I didn't have to do anything but show up! They also have an extremely convenient app and texting system so you can easily view your pet's info and/or contact the office. As soon as I arrived, the kind vet tech kindly allowed Elizabeth to take her time, as she was extremely nervous to get out of the car. I loved that she called my cat by her name and wanted her to feel really comfortable. With all the COVID-19 restrictions, it was definitely hard to not be able to comfort my cat, but the amazing staff called frequently to update me on the progress. Plus, it made me feel much better knowing I wasn't at risk for the virus from inside my car. The vet actually called me herself and discussed everything with me. She recommended some preventative medications, explaining that they had a pharmacy (super convenient) but I was also free to use another pharmacy if I wanted. This confirmed for me that the vets at Sunnyvale truly want my cat to be healthy, and not extra money in their pockets like many others. A few hours after coming home, I realized I had forgotten to ask about something relating to my cat's health. I called and the vet herself immediately called me back and kindly answered all of the questions I had. Lots of the staff mentioned how beautiful Elizabeth is - so my only complaint is that my cat left the vet thinking she was prettier than me! Thank you Sunnyvale Staff! Happy Holidays.

Be kind to your providers, they want the best for you and your pets also!

All of the staff at the cat clinic are very patient and kind with the cats and their humans. They understand each owner's situations/circumstances and take their time to be thorough with each patient. Continuously provides excellent care with clear and upfront estimates over the last 10 years.

Ask the Community - Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic

What is dental cleaning price for dog that is almost 9 years old and dog that is 16 months?

To help you answer your question, I just took my dog who weighs 54 lbs to get a cleaning and was surprised at the price as in Texas the cost is ($150) with anesthesia a fraction of the price I paid here ($754).

We are planning on adopting a puppy. The breeder requires us to have the puppy be seen within 48 hours. With covid, are you seeing new patients? What are the costs?

Hello, We are still accepting new patients! Please give us a call to discuss availability and…

How much does it typically cost to spay/neuter a rabbit?

How much does it cost to treat cat's nail curl down problem? One nail of my cat grows back into her paw.

Hello! Please call us to schedule an exam ($85). Thank you

    Are there walk-ins?

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we are not allowing clients in the building. Please give us a call to schedule an appointment 408-736-8296.

I've had my dog since he was 8 weeks old, and all of his care had been handled here for years. My first major concern happened during his neuter procedure. The staff emphasized that we needed to arrive exactly at 8 AM, so I gave my dog a bath beforehand since I knew he wouldn't be able to bathe after surgery. My dog is hypoallergenic and has hair rather than fur, so he takes a long time to dry. He was still slightly damp when we arrived because I didn't have enough time to fully blow-dry him before the appointment. Hours went by without any communication from the clinic, so I finally called to check on him. That's when they informed me they hadn't even started the procedure because they were waiting for him to dry off in the kennel. I was extremely upset that nobody thought to call and tell me my dog's surgery had been delayed for hours over something so minor. After the surgery, I followed all post-op instructions, but weeks later the stitches still had not dissolved and my dog was becoming irritated. Because my trust had already been shaken, I ended up going to another vet for a second opinion and to have the stitches removed. Despite all of this, I decided to give the clinic another chance. My dog had his first dental cleaning and extraction here when he was around 3, and now at age 7 he needs another cleaning. This time, however, they suddenly said that because of his underbite they could no longer handle his "anatomical challenges" and referred me to a specialist in Aptos that charges nearly double and is completely out of the way. What doesn't make sense to me is that they successfully cleaned his teeth before, but now they're saying they can't do it again. After more than six years of bringing my dog here with no major medical issues, it's incredibly disappointing to now feel like they no longer want to service him. Overall, the customer service has been poor. Communication is lacking, emergencies don't seem to be prioritized appropriately over routine appointments, and my experiences here have left me very disappointed and frustrated.

When Bruno passed away it was at the clinic (it was his time, he was in pain). They gave us the space we needed with him to say goodbye and made a difficult situation no more difficult than it needed to be. I want to talk a little about their prescription policies, after reading a review about frustration that ELC asks to speak to you directly instead of just sending prescriptions to other places, or wanting to make an appointment before renewing certain prescriptions. It's literally relevant to the phone call I had with them today! My cat Guava has had urine crystals in the past and was put on prescription food, since then he's had no issues. I called in to renew the prescription since Chewy bounced it back to me as expired. They asked me to bring him in to do a check up and urinalysis before renewing the prescription. Honestly, because he's been doing so well, I didn't even think to do that. At first I was like "aw man but he's fine! He's doing so well!" But I thought about it: this really speaks to the level of care they have for our animals. Sometimes we think everything's fine and we only find out it's not fine when it's *super* not fine. It's been a couple years since he was last checked out. If you don't know about cat urine crystals, they can lead to blockages which are fatal. I really appreciate that they want to make sure he's okay. I let them know I needed a week or two to figure out finances for the appointment and they said they could still send my boyfriend home with Guava's prescription food from their office in the meantime. And the lady on the phone was extremely kind and non-judgmental, which meant a lot. They've been nothing but fair to us, kind, and loving to my animals. When Guava had to be checked in for several days back when he had his crystals, they let me come into the back and sit with him while he was recovering, sticking my fingers through the bars to pet his head and give him what comfort I could. So yeah, I get the prescription thing can be inconvenient, but they care, and that matters more to me than anything.

Finding a good vet that is at a privately owned hospital has been a challenge and after reading their website and hearing good things from a couple of colleagues, I drove over an hour each way for appointments with each of my dogs. Despite this, they completely ignored one side of his nose during treatment and committed multiple acts of severe professional negligence. 1. Failure to Follow Agreed Treatment Plan: I paid for and consulted on an aggressive, complete nose removal. The consulting veterinarian explicitly stated that the surgery "would be a waste" unless the entire nose was removed because leaving any cancer behind would cause it to return aggressively. Instead, a general practice surgeon--whom I was never permitted to speak with--made a unilateral mid-surgery decision to perform a minimal "scrape," leaving 2/3 of the tumor and visible cancerous bulbs intact. 2. Complete Violation of Informed Consent: If the surgeon did not feel capable or comfortable performing the agreed-upon nose removal once my cat was sedated, they had a strict medical and ethical obligation to call me from the operating room. By failing to contact me, they denied me my legal right to decline a substandard procedure, wake my cat up, and immediately transfer him to a qualified veterinary oncologist or specialist who could perform the surgery correctly. 3. Total Lack of Post-Operative Communication: When I picked up my cat after major surgery, the clinic provided absolutely zero communication or discharge instructions. I had to discover via text message that they failed to complete the agreed-upon service. They then falsely claimed the cancer was only on one side, directly contradicting their own previous diagnosis and what was clearly visible. Because of their failure to remove the tumor as promised, the cancer returned with extreme aggression. I had to euthanize my cat because this clinic robbed him of his only opportunity to receive a proper, complete surgery from a qualified professional. I have the full text message logs, emails, and images confirming this timeline. A formal complaint regarding this professional negligence and failure to obtain informed consent is being filed directly with the State Veterinary Board. Do not trust them with your animal's life. Response to owner : There is a fundamental difference between a "medically complex" adjustment and a complete change in surgical scope without owner consent. The explicit, documented purpose of Tom Tom's consultation was a complete nose removal. I was explicitly told by your staff that a partial removal or "minimal scrape" would not be effective given the aggressive nature of his cancer. Yet, while he was sedated, Dr. Eileen made the unilateral decision to pivot to a minimal scrape, leaving active cancerous bulbs behind, without ever calling me to get my informed consent. By failing to call me from the operating room, you denied me my legal right as a client to decline a sub-standard procedure. Had I been contacted, I would have immediately instructed the clinic to wake him up so I could transfer him to a qualified veterinary oncologist or specialist who was capable of performing the agreed-upon surgery. Furthermore, your clinic attempted to retain 100% of the funds for a complete nose removal until I forced accountability through a series of extensive emails. Your own text message records confirm that the surgeon only focused on one side of the nose, directly contradicting the agreed-upon treatment plan. This is a clear issue of professional negligence and a failure to obtain informed consent, not a misunderstanding of "expectations." I will not be having further private discussions with management to help cover up this clinic's lack of informed consent. The time for discussion was when Tom Tom was on the operating table. All further correspondence from me will be handled directly through the formal complaint I am filing with the State Veterinary Board.

From the moment Dr. Ang first met with us, he exhibited wonderful listening skills. He valued my comments and made me feel heard. It was a dangerous urgent situation, and he gave it the prompt attention it deserved. My cat had to be hospitalized, and I could not have had a better vet to help me through those difficult days. Dr. Ang was so unbelievably kind and helpful to both myself and my cat. I've had pets my entire life, and I've never been more impressed by a vet. I was very worried about my cat, and Dr. Ang kept me updated and generously answered every question I had. It has taken months for me to write this review, because my cat had to be put down about 10 days after this emergency situation. However, thanks to Dr. Ang's help and advice, my cat got to spend over a week with me at home, before he developed another medical issue that again threatened his life. My cat was put down at almost 18 years of age, with the assistance of Dr. Ang. He made a terrible situation much better than it otherwise would have been for us. This my most difficult time with a pet, and I'm so blessed to have had Dr. Ang through the journey. I can't possibly thank him enough for how much he went above and beyond for my cat, and for me. Dr. Ang is a wonderful person, and anyone is lucky to have him care for their pet. I am also happy with MedVet Mountain View. I've brought my cat there many times, and the fact that I drove from Santa Clara to Mountain View many times specifically to go to this office is evidence of how comfortable I felt bringing my pet there--rather than vets' offices much closer to me geographically. I am happy with the staff and experiences overall at MedVet Mountain View. But, Dr. Zachary Ang is a vet that restored my faith in humanity, and he deserves particular credit for going far beyond the call of duty for myself and my beloved cat.

I strongly would not recommend MedVet Mountain View based on my experience with my dog's care…read more My dog underwent bilateral anal sacculectomy at MedVet Mountain View on 5/5/26 for recurrent anal gland problems on her right side. According to her medical records, her rectum was "entered" during the surgery, and I was not informed that this had occurred at the time. She subsequently developed a wound complication and a recto-cutaneous fistula, requiring another surgery for debridement and repair. In other words, leaking feces into the pelvic cavity and formed an abscess and leaked it out through a small hole formed in her skin. The complications continued. After the second surgery, her anus was surgically repositioned toward the right side of her body. Despite this, she continued to experience recurrent problems in the area, including inflammation, drainage, and repeated abscess-like infections now on her left side where she didn't have any previous infections or issues. After multiple procedures and several surgical consults with no answers and continued problems, I ultimately had to take my dog to Colorado State University's veterinary hospital for a third surgery and specialty evaluation. During that surgery, pieces of anal gland tissue were found remaining on the previously healthy side, along with an infection involving E. coli that had become trapped in the area. My dog has now been through three surgeries, prolonged medication, repeated veterinary visits, and an extremely difficult recovery. She has experienced significant discomfort, and this has been emotionally and financially devastating. I understand that complications can occur with any surgery. My concern is the overall course of events: the rectum being entered during the original surgery without me being informed, the subsequent recto-cutaneous fistula and wound complications, the second surgery that resulted in her anus being repositioned, continued recurrent infections, and then the discovery during her third surgery of retained gland tissue and trapped E. coli infection. I ultimately had to travel out of state to obtain specialty care for my dog after complications from the original surgery. I am sharing my experience so other pet owners can make an informed decision and ask very detailed questions about the procedure, potential complications, how complications will be communicated, and what follow-up care will be provided if something goes wrong.
