We were with Dr Cameron for 35 years (long before she opened her own practice), and while she absolutely deserves to have a wonderful retirement, she is dearly missed. If she were still there this would be a 5 star review. That said, I was disappointed with the new ownership. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My first visit with Dr G was my last. I meant it when I told the front office I would never see him again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He has terrible bedside manner, spoke to me like I was clueless (I spent 15 years in vet med), and was only interested in pushing unnecessary bloodwork for a pet that wasn't even there rather than the pets I did bring in (he barely examined them as it was). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dr Saggi I liked enough, but ultimately decided to move onto a practice that I didn't have questions about.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were just too many red flags. I want to preface this by saying my review is for after Dr. Cameron left. My dog had been seeing Dr. Cameron for his entire life before she retired in July 2025. I thought she was a stellar vet with tons of experience and I really struggled to find a vet that lived up to my high expectations because of Dr. Cameron. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, if I could, I would absolutely give 0 stars to the receptionist named Sarah. This woman had such an apathetic, nasty attitude.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had to take my dog in because he kept constantly urinating (related to his cancer). [[HIGHLIGHT]]She told me to not allow my dog pee so that they could get a urine sample from him. Well, how exactly do you tell a dog not to pee?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He ended up peeing outside because they were taking so long, and when the vet techs couldn't get a urine sample from him, Sarah gave me such a nasty "i told you so" look, as if it was my fault that my dog urinared outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If an old dog with bladder cancer needs to pee, he's going to pee! Hopefully Sarah has moved on and found a better job to fit her poor people/animal skills. I only had a couple experiences with Dr. Saggi. He was just wrong about SO many things in regards to diagnosing my dog. I took my dog in for an emergency with Dr. Saggi because Dr. Cameron was completely booked. First of all, he told me my dog was COMPLETELY blind. My dog was NOT blind! I had two other vets confirm to me that my dog had vision (and fairly good vision for his old age). When I told Dr. Saggi that my dog is able to navigate the inside of my house and outside perfectly fine, he said my dog probably memorized the layout. How is it possible my dog memorized the entire layout of my house and backyard?! Does that even seem likely? I almost laughed when he said this. Second of all, Dr. Saggi said my dog's prostate felt fine and normal. That was incorrect, my dog's prostate was enlarged and causing him issues (confirmed by Dr. Cameron). Third of all, Dr. Saggi told me my dog had active kidney injury caused by long-term use of Rimadyl, which he determined from my dog's high Cystatin B value in his urine. I asked three other vets (Dr. Cameron, an ER vet, and a vet oncologist) about this Cystatin B value that Dr. Saggi kept referring to, and they all told me that it's not a useful value that vets use to diagnose anything. They did not agree with his diagnosis. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will say that I really do appreciate Dr. Saggi fitting my dog in very last-minute when he was having an emergency.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will also add that it is possible that Dr. Saggi was so off because that was his first time meeting my dog. In a weird way, this appointment helped me to determine what was not wrong with my dog? I think that Dr. Saggi might be fine if your dog is healthy and young. But in my case, my dog was very old and ended up having cancer, so I really needed a more experienced and capable vet to handle my dog. read more

Took dog in for potential infection because could not get soon appointment to our regular vet. Told them all we want to know is if he had an infection. All they wanted to do were a bunch of tests totaling almost $700, at the same time telling us to go there instead of our current Vet. My wife ended up paying the $100 fee for visit (i.e. nothing). This review is long overdue. My cat recently died so I can finally write this review. I brought a young, sweet, and friendly stray cat to this place for spaying 13 years ago. Soon after the cat became very sick and the doctor here said we should put her down. I took the cat to Sage. The doctor performed surgery and found that her right ureter was tied with a fallopian tube. The right kidney had to be removed because of this. Sage notified this hospital of the conclusion. The owner, Dr. Cameron, called me and said Dr. Liu (an Asian like me) performed the surgery. That was a lie. The spay certificate shows Dr. Diane Ammon. She said she could share half of the surgery cost because there might be something wrong with the cat so they were not fully responsible. The tone of the phone call was very cold. I took the cat to this hospital again for the post-surgery checkup and got nothing but a bad attitude. This stray became my first and the closest cat. She went on to live more years but the last few with kidney issues. I am grateful that she brought so much joy to our family. None of this happiness will happen if we put her down as suggested by the doctor here. I can't stop thinking about how many more years we could have if she had two kidneys. I have since worked with rescue groups and talked to other vets. It is not as common as this hospital claimed to mistakenly tie the ureter during spay. People make mistakes. I understand. But to me, this place has no compassion or commitment. read more

I am having a difficult time writing this review. Most of the time here I have a positive experience. Kate Cameron is a caring vet who obviously loves the animals that she sees. I have no complaints about the care my pets have received from Dr. Cameron. My problem is with the staff and some misunderstandings. My children all live in different households but we put our pets under one account name. Recently , a new pup came in for an exam and Cameron was critical that we had a new puppy. He lives in a household of two pets. Our Cameron account has five pets. There might be more if the ones who have passed aren't marked as deceased. They don't all live together. I called the office to separate households and was told it can't be done. So now it will always look like we are animal hoarders!!!! Another vet was pushing our pet to be neutered. He will be but is a show dog and unless we give him false testicles ( yes, there is such a thing) he can't show without his boy parts. I agree this is silly; however, showing is a hobby and we have to abide by AKC rules. Be a shame to pay an entry fee and be sent home because his boy parts were missing. The vet was really pushy and I am wondering if she worked on commission. I felt like I was dealing with a car salesman. Often the technician who greets us in the parking lot and takes the dog inside gets the information we provide wrong! It leads to explaining the problem again to the vet. I appreciate the dedicated parking though. That is nice! Once a staff member had my daughter panicked because she put her pup down on the sidewalk. He was too heavy to hold! It was either drop him or place him gently on the sidewalk. I know the receptionist was worried about parvo but my daughter didn't want his bones to break if she dropped him. The receptionist had her in a panic afterwards thinking she gave her dog parvo; she didn't. The techs too freely offer medical advice. I wish they would leave that to those who have a veterinarian degree. They worked hard for that degree and I pay for their advice not the receptionist's opinion. Overall, usually things go well but I wish I only spoke to the Dr. Cameron and she didn't think I am an animal hoarder. read more

We have had so many vets over the last 30+ years, and I must admit Cameron Vet Hospital is now my favorite veterinary office. The staff is friendly, efficient and the place is spotless clean. You would expect you smell some pet odor walking into the vet office but not here. Dr Cameron is the best vet I have interfaced, she is knowledgeable and provide such detailed information and makes sure you understand the situation you are facing and plan of action. She doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get you done and out of the office, she spent 20minutes after the office was closed with me to explain in detail what my previous vet didn't!! We still have ways to go to get my dog where we know what is going on but I believe now we are in great hands. She terminated our relationship after I argued with her about my cat needing a refill for her hypothyroidism and insisted I come in for a second appointment when I had just brought her in. I cannot afford the money and time required to bring my cat into back to back appointments. She should have done a thorough job the first time. After that she terminated our relationship and did not send any refills to my pharmacy as promised causing my poor old cat to suffer while we were left without a vet. They are just unable to keep the appointment time. It's been the second time that I have visited and have had to wait for over 30mins to be seen inspire of having an appointed preschedule and being on time. No one comes and tells you that is it is going to take longer, they just expect you to wait indefinitely till the doctor shows up. I would at-least expect a checkin if the doctor is still not going to see you after making you wait - no one shows up they just keep you waiting. if you make an appointment just block off a couple of hours as they will never see you on time. read more

This review is for Dr. Hinsley. She's a new doctor at the practice and I'm incredibly impressed with her. She quickly and efficiently diagnosed/treated an eye problem my dog had. My pup also has a skin condition that I haven't been able to solve in seven years of trying various diets and medications. She recommended I see a dermatologist, which no vet has EVER recommended. I didn't even know that was a thing. Immediately, the dermatologist (Dermatology for Animals) was able to identify an underlying condition my dog had that is expected to go away after the treatments recommended. I appreciate her so much for that recommendation because, again, no vet has ever done this before and it seems to be the exact thing my pup needed. I am so impressed with Dr Cameron and her demeanor, knowledge and heart. She's a wonderful Dr to entrust your precious one to. I appreciate that she truly talked to me, that she was gentle with my squirming, hurting cocker spaniel. My dog howls if you touch her paws. Dr Cameron worked with her, got out the stickers and kept as calm as possible. They didn't have to sedate her to work with her paws. She took the time to explain things about my dog's health, how to try and avoid the same thing happening again AND her bill was reasonable. I tend to always have a zoo at my house (I need to learn how to tell my son NO sometimes:) so there's been plenty of experience with veterinary sticker shock. This is by far the most reasonable place I've been to AND I trust them. Aces all the way around! read more

When we first moved to the area, I tried a couple of different vets. Nothing clicked, in fact one vet I got into a major fight with! Just because someone is a vet - it does not mean they like animals. I tried Dr Cameron as she was close and her office looked clean and we've been going back since. The first thing I noticed about this office is that is is clean and bright. There are plenty of things to check out while waiting. I particularly enjoy the photos! We've had good experiences with Dr. Mike ,who moved out of state :( and Dr. Cameron. I love the fact the Dr Cameron and Dr Mike always take the time to visit with my dog or cats before beginning the exam. This is also true with the vet techs who also take the time to "visit" the patient. This is not wham bam - now pay up. This could be why they do tend to run late on appointments. When it was time to assist our ailing 14 year old Aussie across the bridge, my husband, myself and our Aussie were treated with such compassion and understanding. We were invoiced at a later time and a handwritten not was sent expressing their sympathy. The downside is this practice is not inexpensive however I trust them. read more

We were fortunate to be able to become clients here with Dr Cameron. We bring our two companion bunnies here and they receive excellent care. Dr Cameron is extremely caring, knowledgeable, and always has the best interest in the well being of your animals. One of our bunnies was extremely sick, so she referred us to a specialist. The first specialist was also very good, and found through a blood test that she was severely anemic. But did not know what was causing severe anemia (8 percent red blood cell count) in our bunny. They asked if we wanted to put her down that day, which shocked us and we refused. We cared for her another week, but she got to a point where she would no longer use the litter and refused to chew. Could not even force feed her as she didn't swallow anything. We decided to sadly put her down, however, Dr Cameron did one last exam and our rabbit still had a lot of fight in her. So Dr Cameron called a few other specialists, one which said she had seen similar rare cases before. We took our bun to this second specialist and she confirmed our bunny had a twisted liver causing the anemia. They performed surgery and was able to save the bunnie's life. We are extremely grateful for Dr Cameron's care, kindness, and connections. read more

Dr Cameron is fantastic! She's compassionate to both pet AND owner, and her prices are very reasonable compared to other vets. She gets straight to the point and doesn't mess around with unnecessary tests that cost an arm and a leg. I was very satisfied with her expertise, and in the future will request only her for my dog. However, I'd caution everyone away from Dr. Schmidt. You can't walk out of there without having spent $500, most of which seems so unnecessary, and she can come across as condescending. I've been holding off on writing my review, but since my cat had to be rushed to the emergency pet hospital a few weeks after a check up at Cameron Veterinary Hospital, I wanted to warn potential customers of this clinic to beware! I specifically requested an appointment with Dr. Cameron, since it seems like she specializes in cats based on reviews from other Yelpers. My cat has a strange issue where he dribbles a few drops of pee on the floor after using the litter box. My cousin is in vet school and was concerned he might have issues with his bladder or urinary tract, and encourged me to bring him to a vet. We made an appointment at Cameron after getting quotes from a few vet places in the Sunnyvale area (Cameron was the most expensive by $5 but we figured this meant better service due to a higher reputation). Dr. Cameron was about 15 minutes late to the appointment, and our poor cat was nervously pacing the examination room with meowing cat and barking dog noises emanating from the other rooms. She proceeded to examine our cat, and said she didn't see anything of concern except that he was on the heavier side and should lose weight (we already had him on diet food and diet portions). She also recommended a few tests that we could do to see if he had any internal issues- a urinalysis, a blood test, and/or an x-ray. We asked what the costs would be for each procedure, and the urinalysis was the cheapest option at about $50-$60 I think, the blood test would have been close to $125 (I think), and the x-ray I can't remember, but was also pricey. We opted for the urinalysis since it seemed comprehensive, and was also the cheapest, but Dr. Cameron seemed to want us to have more procedures done and we had to be firm about just the urinalysis. She called us on a Saturday to go over the results, and was very thorough, which I appreciated. She said the test was normal, and she hadn't seen this type of spotting problem before, and we should keep him on a diet to ensure he loses weight. Fast forward to a few weeks later. He was trying to use the litter box but without success. We noticed he would go in there but it would be dry after he exited, and decided to Google the symptoms. They recommended he be rushed to the vet since they could die within 24 hours if they are unable to pee. We decided to take him to Adobe Pet Hospital since it happened on a Sunday and they are open 24/7. The vet there noticed that he pee'd a little in the carrier and examined the towel we have in there, and found crystals present in his pee. They had to flush the crystals out, put in a catheter, and monitor him overnight (amongst other things), which ended up costing $1500. The vet there also noticed that his prepuce (skin around his male anatomy) was much thicker than the normal cat, and was the reason he could not urinate normally and caused the crystal formation. According to the vet, this problem was ongoing, and we were lucky the crystals didn't cause a blockage until now. She suggested a procedure to elminate the extra prepuce skin, which should solve his urination issue, and also lower the risk of the crystals re-forming. This cost another $1000. I was horrified that despite an urinalysis at Cameron Veterinary Hospital, they did not detect any abnormalities or crystals in his system. Also, Dr. Cameron did not suggest the procedure to help resolve his issue, and instead tried to upsell us on other costly "tests". Needless to say, I will not be back to Cameron Veterinary Hospital, and encourage potential customers to do their research before coming here, as it may cost them a trip to the emergency pet hospital/$1500! read more

Dr. Cameron may be great, but Dr. Liu isn't! I went to this vet practice when I relocated to the South Bay based upon reviews I found here. When I took my newly adopted cat in we were seen by Dr. Liu. She was still eating something when she came in and did not seem particularly interested in my cat's condition. She said his rectal bleeding was probably worms (despite the fact he was already dewormed) and that if that didn't stop the bleeding I should try putting him on a food with lamb or venison. I asked her which food he should try, and she shrugged her shoulders and said Petco or Petsmart should have something. Big help, Doc. A year later after deworming again and trying a different food, I switched vets. DAY 1, VISIT 1, the new vet says my cat has colitis. So basically he's been suffering unnecessarily for a year because Dr. Liu couldn't be bothered to consider something beyond worms. If you are reading this review and are anything like me, you love your animals more than life itself. My dogs are my family and when I take them to the vet I want to make sure they are in good hands. My family and I have been truly blessed by God to have found Dr. Carla Johnson. Dr. Johnson has saved two of my dogs lives! My dog lucky had bloat and went through a horrible, expensive surgery. So many doctors were unsure about whether or not he would make it. His medications were all wrong and his heart was not beating right. I specifically remember one vet saying "oh his name is lucky...most dogs named lucky aren't so lucky!" Our family was devasted and then we took lucky to Dr. Johnson :). Dr. Johnson knew exactly what to do and switched his medication to get his heart rythme back to normal. Lucky is happy and healthy now thanks to Dr. Johnson!! Dr. Johnson also saved my dog Sunny. My dog sunny has cushings disease and if it was not for Dr. Johnson Sunny may not be alive. Dr. Johnson is very smart and knows her practice to the fullest. She is very honest and has a good bedside manner. You can tell she loves animals and to me that is key when looking for a vet. She has even cried with me. I love Dr. Johnson and Cameron Vet. It's by far one of the best clinics I have ever gone too! The people are so nice and caring! You just get a good vibe when you walk in :). Overall, if you are looking for a vet who truly has passion for they do go and see Dr. Johnson. You will not regret it! read more

I've been bringing my pets here for 7 years now and, like many other Yelpers, I've tried new Vet's as I've moved away from the Sunnyvale area, but none of them knows our animals or treats us as well as Cameron. What spurred this sudden need for a 5-star post was the amazing treatment they gave my pup (a 6 year old German Shepherd... okay she's not really a pup) a couple weeks back. She had been having stomach issues that we weren't too sure about, but the reason I brought her in was a torn dew claw that she managed to give herself. It was bad... ripped the claw all the way through and well below the quick. I'll spare you the details. I called at 11am and they were able to schedule us in at 3pm the SAME DAY! When we got in there, they took a quick look at her, broke everything down for me, got her fixed up and wrapped up and sent me home with a treatment for the stomach problems. Overall, we were in and out in about 45 minutes. I don't care how far away from Sunnyvale I move, I'll definitely be bringing my pup here any time she needs a vet! read more

I've been an avid fan of Dr. Cameron since I was a young girl and she saved the life of my first great dane (at the time she was at another vet clinic). Upon returning to the area after an 8 year hiatus, I immediately sought her out to take care of my pets again and found that she had opened her own hospital. My current dog eventually needed to get a knee repaired, and one of my cats has a chronic condition, so I have spent a lot of time in this vet office, so I think I have a pretty good idea of what they are all about! Cameron Vet Hospital is top-notch. The front desk staff is ridiculously friendly. Joanne, Debbie, Pixie: they are all great. They know who I am whenever I call to make an appointment for one of my three pets, and that just makes me feel nice. The vet techs are always friendly and competent. They always spend time talking with me and visiting with my pets. While I would like to think that all of my boys are just way special, I think it's more along the lines of they really love animals and the work they do (and that my boys are special). Dr. Cameron is probably the best vet I have found in all of my wanderings. She is great at diagnosing and explaining ailments and conditions, and calming me down when I have been concerned for my pets. She is very knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner-what more could want in a vet?! Dr. McClannahan is wonderful as well. Both friendly and knowledgeable. There have been a number of times where I just needed some quick information and he was happy to discuss things with me over the phone rather than having me come in for an appointment. I once was in the neighborhood on other errands and had my dog with me, and wanted to know if I needed to bring him in for an appointment due to something going on with him. He checked Kohl out right there, told me everything was okay, and didn't even charge me for it. I am not suggesting that you try to get free advice/help from these wonderful people instead of paying for their services. I just want to point out that they really go the extra mile for their clients, and that is what sets them apart, as far as I am concerned. I moved from Sunnyvale to Willow Glen, and have not even considered getting a new vet. I will happily travel 20 minutes to see the great folks at Cameron Vet Hospital! read more

We've been taking our beagles to Cameron Vet Hospital for about 3 years now. The lobby is wonderful- clean, modern, and inviting. There are pictures all over the place of people's pets, cute decorations, and books. The pet scale is right next to the front door and the weight is displayed on the wall, so you can walk right in and weigh your pet yourself. We've had experiences with Dr. Cameron and several of the other doctors. They are all very knowledgable, gentle, friendly, and informative. There seem to be a lot of technicians who go through there because we have never seen the same one twice. My only complaint is that we have gone in for a specific problem that one of our beagles has had for a while now. Every time we go in, even if we see the same doctor, we have to explain the history all over again. I think we've explained her history about 5 times now. My first experience at Cameron Veterinary clinic was informative, caring, and over all great, my second was informative, extremly thorough and very understanding to mine and my puppy's needs. Dr. Cameron and her staff have gone ABOVE AND BEYOND what I have ever expected from a veterinarian.. My third visit was A tech appointment to vaccinate both my puppies. This was a quick, easy, deatiled and once again Great :) Over 4th of July weekend, on that saturday. At about 11pm my male puppy was looking very sick. I took him in to the emergency hospital that is recommended by Cameron Veterinary clinic. This place was just as awesome and understanding. They explained my puppy was going to be ok and showed me a few techniques to help him with his issue. The fee/charge was me felt was completely reasonable, especially for an E.R exam. The staff and doctor told me what signs to look for ig I needed to bring him back...assured me he would be ok and after the visit they faxed Dr. Camerons clinic the notes and called me a few days later to check on my little guy. Our family has been going to Cameron Vet for the last 10 years with two dogs and a cat over that period. Dr Kate Cameron is amazing and my dog loves her. She is patient, gentle and conservative on jumping to meds until after a full test and exam.She performed an ear surgey on my dog and he recovered without a hitch. She also provided an excellent referral for a root canal doc in San Calos. Her approach is calm and she explains the concern in easy terms to understand. Her staff is top notch and always willing to answer a question or get back to you. Sometimes I have a wait a bit in the front office, but they are worth it. I love this place. Dr. Schmidt rocks!! She always takes time to ensure that I understand what's happening every step of the way and goes over the procedures she's doing. Every time I've brought my puggy to Cameron Vet, I leave feeling relieved and well-cared for. Everyone is really friendly and helpful at the front, the vet techs are chatty, friendly, and warm. There's another vet I've had the misfortune of taking my dog to in Campbell, and every time we're there, my lil puggy sits and shakes. She HATES going there; as soon as we pull into the parking lot, she's upset. At the Cameron Vet she's always happy and excited. Even if we're there when she's not feeling well, she's never shaking or scared. EVERY SINGLE ONE of the people who work there do their part to ensure both me and my pet are comfortable and "okay". I would recommend this vet to anyone. You never feel like they're doing anything extraneous or superfluous just to get your moola, you always know what they're doing and they talk you through everything, and the staff is awesome to boot. this is the place to come! read more

I have been bringing my cats here for over a year. Gratefully just routine maintenance. Dr Schmidt is wonderful. She take a moment to check-in with you and your pet. How she remembered me after over a year was remarkable. I don't feel rushed. While my cats are never thrilled going to the vet, they did fine. Dr. Schmidt mentioned there are things we can try if the cats get anxious coming in. Thanks. The front staff is friendly even during a rush. The place has a calm vibe.
