Our waitress was friendly and upbeat. The prices were very reasonable for a summer travel destination. I got a fresh squeezed glass of orange juice and the red, white and blue french toast. Fresh Squeezed OJ: The orange juice tasted delicious, but was on the smaller side for a $5 glass (no refills on the fresh squeezed OJ). It was also warm, so I put a few ice cubes from my water glass into it - much better. Red, White & Blue French Toast: My french toast was cooked perfectly to an appropriate crispiness. I hate soggy french toast. And all the strawberries, bananas, and blueberries covering it were fresh and made me feel a little less guilty about my indulgent breakfast. An Ocean City staple! We came here during Memorial Day Weekend and I didn't expect to be seated so quickly!! The staff are so kind. The recent restaurant upgrades are also tasteful as well. Okay. the food. SERIOUSLY DELICIOUS. I'm VERY picky about my breakfast potatoes but these are some of my favorite - so crispy and delicious. My go to is the Chunky Monkey French Toast - fresh sliced bananas, chocolate chips & crushed granola. SO MUCH FOOD you'll have enough for at least 2 meals. My friend recently got the carnitas breakfast burrito which she enjoyed but again A LOT so you will get more than one meal out of it. In my opinion it's super affordable as well. I rarely eat alone, but today was an exception. I was in OCNJ and ready for breakfast. I thought about just grabbing a Starbucks or Wawa breakfast, but I'm so glad I remembered a cafe I had gone to before. My breakfast was just what i was craving. We sat outside and there was a strange order coming from inside the restaurant or the floor which smells like a weird body order or food and dirty grease that is never washed off the black concrete floor. It needs a good power wash. I loved the menu and concept of a home cooked meal in honor of nana but I don't think nana would have used pre-shredded cheese from a bag. The menu had a great variety of options but we were extremely disappointed with the food quality. I ordered the huevos ranchero and was expecting to poke my yoke over the home fries but it was served on the side and over well done. There was insufficient cheese was sprinkled on and I could barely taste it. There was too much green tomatillo sauce. There was a hair in my friends 4x2 and the home fries were not good. She thinks the potatoes were bad too. I typically house my home fries but unfortunately did not finish my food here. On top of that for 4 kids and 4 adults the check was $125 without tip. read more

So good, great service. Arrived early on a Friday in July and had no problem getting seated. Returned on Saturday and still just as friendly and delicious. We tried breakfast tacos and huevos rancheros one day, then the 4x2 and the Tex Mex omelette the second day. Their coffee was great. The fresh squeezed OJ would have been great without ice (we didn't ask for ice, it just came that way...) Only complaint was my toast wasn't buttered and there wasn't any on the table-a little odd but I wasn't devastated. My family has been going to Sunrise Cafe for years while vacationing down at OCNJ. By far, this year was the worst experience to date. We came the morning of Night in Venice and we were given a 30 minute wait time for a party of 5. After an hour, we were finally seated with sorties about limited staff and excessive heat which backed up the kitchen. We were seated and after 45 mins, we finally received our food. My breakfast was an omelet that was barely warm and potatoes that were undercooked. I was given no butter for my bread and once I got my server's attention, she totally blew me off with no butter and a "here is the check". Save your time, your money and your patience. Our waitress made frequent check ups on us, stirred up small conversations, and was also willing to give her recommendations regarding some of the menu options. The options on the menu include all your basic go-to breakfast and lunch options, all at incredibly reasonable prices if not cheaper than what you would find at a lot of places these days. Ordered the Red, White and Blue Short Stack Pancake. They had a nice homemade touch to them and were a good portion for the price and all the toppings included with it. There was the option to have whip cream but I opted out as I'm not too much of a sweet tooth person in the morning. Definitely come by and check it out when you can. Especially during the off-season when the city isn't packed to an insane level and all you got are the local folks. Had a wonderful and memorable experience and will certainly be returning. It appears if the sun has yet to rise and the "cook" in the back is still working in the dark I started off with the fresh squeezed orange juice, a $5 small collins glass full of warm juice. Taste good, but not worth $5 The cream of wheat was anything but creamy, it was filled with hard nuggets of unmixed or burnt mix, as large as grapes. The BLT bagel with Avocado had no avocado. Had to send back to the kitchen. The tomato slices were paper thin, like you would get at a deli on a hoagie. The avocado on round 2 was about 2 days away from being ripe and there was only 2 small slices on each sandwich half. The bacon was WAY overcooked and you can just imagine it sitting under the heat lamp for the last 2 hours. Oh, and its served with a mini-bag of lays plain potato chips, not some handcut gourmet chips you'd expect. At the very least, buy generic kettle-cooked chips and place them on my plate, but only your local walk up pizza counter can get away with mini foil packs on your plate. The first omelette was burnt and not edible...and only fitting the toast came just as burnt. The second omelette was almost undercooked, but only because the tomatoes we ordered in it were not precooked and all their juices made the omelette soggy (and probably unable to burn). Service is still slow and unattentive, when there's a problem (and there always is here). Towards the end of our meal, our one guest said "oh my God, I can't take it anymore, the flies in here won't stop landing on me, I have to leave". She stood outside in the heat while we waited for the check (being accosted by flies ourself). I've given this 6 tries over 2 years. Normally I wouldnt give so many chances, but shore breakfast places have a monopoly and when your faced with an hour wait somewhere else, you talk yourself into forgetting your last experience and trying it again...NEVER AGAIN! I'd rather go hungry than suffer through another meal here! read more

This is only about customer service. We stopped by today for breakfast. The counter was empty, there were at least three 4-top tables and one 2-top available inside. There were also open tables in the enclosed outdoor area. When we walked in, I asked if we could sit at the counter and was told that there was an additional 2-top waiting and that we would have to wait 25-30 minutes. I dug into the French toast which was doughy and tasteless, I tried the eggs which were rubbery and also tasteless, the sausage was burnt to a crisp, the bacon was edible however. My brother got the cinnamon pancakes and I got the donut French toast and it LITERALLY tasted like I was eating out of a garbage can.
