Very consistent. I go for breakfast and it is always good. Fast service, and a friendly staff. Reasonably priced as well.

Worst breakfast I have ever eaten. Do not get breakfast in the morning unless you want cold dry turkey sausage and mealy dry nasty grits that are cooked up in bulk and served after they have sat a long while. The owner on duty was rude, uncaring and brought out even more dry leathery sausage when I asked for fresh sausage that was just thrown back on to make it warmer( same old cooked ahead leathery sausage) I was only able to eat the eggs and my husband ate the toast. However I was Charged for grits I could not swallow and first double charged for all 3 along with my husband's meal until I noticed I was overcharged!! . When I was asked if things were good and I said no, he never apologized or even acted like he cared at all. All about the buck!! Even the regular sausage and my husband's bacon were like leather!! If you want fresh breakfast come later in the day when they can cook it fresh to order. So disappointed and he doesn't realize he's losing more money by not handling this well in the lack of future orders than he ever gained in charging me for what I couldn't eat!! No problem!! This is your greasy spoon diner that serves a Greek twist on some of the meals, but basically American food. This new location is right down the street from my parents home. Not that the old location was far, it was a few miles down Albemarle Road. But, that location closed and is now something else. This location is in a new building. Plenty of parking. A separate entrance for to-go orders. This is a new, shiny, clean place. They do have a low mat carpeting in the dining area, which I think is kind of odd, but whatever. I don't have to clean it. When my parents and I went for dinner on my first night in town, I got the pot roast with potatoes, gravy, green beans and rice with gravy. All of it probably came out of a can, but you go for the small town atmosphere. On my last morning, we went for breakfast. I got the liver mush, scrambled eggs, grits and toast. I have a thing for liver mush and I have not seen it sold anywhere other than in North Carolina ever. My parents love coming here as it is inexpensive and has basic meals. I am so glad they got this new location as I was pretty upset my last trip to town when they were between locations. read more

The new restaurant is beautiful! It's huge, clean, fresh, and busy! The place is decorated nicely and everyone seems happy to be in the their new building. There seems to always be a line when you come, so be prepared to wait. The staff is friendly, but can get pretty backed up with the huge crowds, so maybe not as attentive as they would hope to be. The food is the same for me, it's not my favorite. And not to say there's anything particularly wrong with it, it is just average for me. I ordered poached eggs with my breakfast, which were for sure not poached. They looked poached, but were completely done inside. I didn't really mention it because they were so busy at the time. I would maybe come back, because my mother loves the place, but probably not on my own, and definitely not somewhere I crave. read more

The food: the chopped steak was mushy which was disgusting. The fried squash were leftovers from a previous day. They were cold and stale tasting. The corn muffin was rubbery, dry and seemed to be leftover. The salad was fine. The service was poor. The waitress had an attitude when we asked for refills or for the receipt to be corrected because she tried to charge for items we did not order. Overall, it was a pretty terrible meal and experience. This place used to be good but after this visit I do not recommend. read more

This used to be a great place to eat - we would eat or pick up food from here several times a week. Last few times were awful - they used clorox to clean the bathroom and did not wipe it up - destroyed a brand new black shirt as well as my daughter's softball shirt which cannot be replaced. I called about it - the manager did not seem to care. The last few times we have picked up food - the orders were wrong. Just tried one more time to pick up food - the order was wrong again, had it corrected and it was still wrong. There is a hair in my salad. Called the manager and was told if not happy with the service to find another restaurant. This is not how you treat a customer. We will not be getting food from there again. Also calling the health department about the bathroom and the hair in my salad. This restaurant has really gone down hill, very sad and very disappointed. read more

Just "ok" diner food. I wasn't sure what the hype was all about so we went to check it out this weekend. The hot cakes were nothing special, they were a little hard (IHOP might have better pancakes, and I'm not a big fan of them either). The omelet was ok, I tried the gyro omelet. My husband got egg whites with cheese and that was probably the best looking and tasting thing that we got at our table. Hash browns were a little cold, and biscuits were cold and hard...I didn't bother to finish mine. So nothing special, just another diner spot with "ok" food. But there are some other breakfast spots in the Charlotte area we would consider before coming again and waiting 30 minutes on this one. At least we tried it out. read more

I've been a fan of Sunrise even before they moved to their new location. Food was consistently good Fast. Great waitresses. Friendly. On my last visit we hosted the YMCA elderly to a lunch. We asked for separate checks. Everyone wanted to pay for their own. While there was a little confusion at the register, one of the waitresses who was just standing there copped an attitude. The seniors were taking too long. She called them "Stupid", ignorant old people". I turned to the hostess and she just looked away and ignored both my and me. That was my last time we ate there: my wife, the "old people", and me. Sad. read more

The atmosphere is good and spacious, but the food is terrible. I ordered a burger and fries. The bread was of poor quality, it fell apart while I was eating it. The patty was flavorless. I cannot NOT recommend this restaurant enough. On a good day their food is meh at best and the staff is always super slow but today was just the crown jewel of reasons why not to go there. We had been sitting for a considerable length of time without being acknowledged by anyone so my mother went up to the register to see if someone would be with us soon. On her way back to our table a waitress grabbed her shoulder which I can't begin to fathom why you would do to someone whom A. You're not even in a conversation with and you don't know. B. In a freaking pandemic!!! But I digress. Anywho she turned around and told her to get her hand off her which she shouldn't even have had to say. So the waitress starts straight up screaming so we at my table and several others all over the restaurant turned to see what the issue was "I'm not even supposed to be here! I'm not your waitress!" Ok, bye!!! Nobody spoke to you, you inserted yourself into this scenario. So we decided to stay in spite of the obviously stellar start to the experience. And the waitress who so clearly "wasn't even supposed to be there" was carrying on very loud conversations with other patrons and wait staff alike all around our table about "that nasty lady who started yelling at me" so my mother attempted to say she did not in fact scream at her but she chose to start screaming across the restaurant as soon as my mother started speaking to her. Yes, literally SCREAMING across the restaurant. Super professional, I know. Anyway save yourself the trouble of attempting to dine here lest you have the nerve to not want people you dont know grabbing you, and then spend the next hour or two hearing her and her friend/coworker both yelling about "that nasty lady" the rest of the time. read more

Great food, I've been here a few times and it's been amazing. If your in the mood for a classic American breakfast then this is the place for you. I recommend the biscuits and gravy, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and cinnamon rolls. Only down fall is the menu isn't online for to-go orders, but they say it will be on the website soon. Great food...everything I've eaten here (breakfast, lunch, dinner) has been great. I enjoy eating here but the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. Until today, the previous 3 visits I sat for the longest time with an empty tea glass or coffee cup, multiple waitstaff walk by your empty glass and unless you are their table, nobody just offers a refill unless you ask. Today I had the BEST service I've yet to have at this restaurant, her name was Bri and I didn't sit with an empty glass at all, that made me happy. Funny thing to note: today is Bri's birthday and HER 1ST DAY AS A WAITRESS. Great job Bri, you are off to a wonderful start. Review update: 5 stars, one of my favorite places to eat. I purchased breakfast to go two weeks ago live the food and freshest often. Half way thru my meal there was a long hair in my food. I was upset but things happen. Took my chance again but this time told the manager my experience and wanted to be assured this would happen again. She gave many excuses but did honor my request to " check" prior to boxing it up. ( I think) When I get there to pick up she apologied again but I noticed NO ONE in the kitchen wore hairnets just hair pulled back in ponytail. I asked her why this was so and she indicated that it was "not required via the state" and that they follow the policies that are "required" I explain to her that this is probably a part of the issue and should be reconsidered because of the hair in my food prior. I'm from NY and every establishment I've worked in the staff was always required to wear a hairnet in addition to keeping it up at the very least. She seemed to be a little taken back by my request but again you're serving food to customers and obviously your hair is getting in their food! Its sad that we've reach the era that simply doing the right thing to assure customer safety and satisfaction is debatable‍ What's the harm with wearing a hairnet ? Especially , if you allow employees with long puffy ponytails to cook customers food simply ... because it's not "required" by the health department..really this is what we're doing now? I think this restaurant would be ideal for my grandparents! The food is basic and not too fancy. My husband used to go here a few years back, and I have yet to visit here so he took me for lunch. It was a slow lunch hour. Not many people dining in. Our waiter was nice. We were greeted when we walked in. The place was pretty neat and tidy. The food came out quick. They do a little bit of everything here. So there is something for everyone. The sodas were flat. Had to change to water. I had a hamburger well done. That was nice. The fries were not crispy, more soggy than anything else. My husband had a dinner plate with some greens and potatoes. He said his meal was a little bland. I have been eating a Sunrise for many years, iI don't know what is going on there., but service was awful , first i notice that the blacks was sitting at the back of the restaurant and was told that all the seat was open would not be available for 45 to and hour. As i observed after waiting 20 + mins for the waitress to take our order, i notice the white customers was seating in the session that said was supposedly unavailable. the food was awful and my fish as nothing but crust and cooked very hard, my daughter food was just as bad her hot dog was filled with burnt chilli, her fingers was old and covered with sauce.it was very disgusting . i am so confused on what was going on there today 7/13/22 read more

Worst experience ever.We spent over 100 dollars on food and served ourselves. We came in as a party of 9 and was waited by Amanda. The whole time Amanda had an attitude was disrespectful to my whole family. We waited patiently over 20 mins for just drinks and to place and order. When she finally came and started serving food she questioned one of my family members about what they ordered. When he responded and asked her to not talk to him that way she threw our food down without serving us and said she doesn't have to serve us. Walked away leaving our food on a server tray. I immediately went to the manager John to report what happened and the most he offered was to pass out our food. We had to serve out on food. When we asked for an owner we were told he wasn't there. I was here for a family celebration. Parking was open and easy. The hostess was nice and friendly. She even knew where my party was. The waitress was attentive and speedy. She had very good accuracy especially since we had a large group which contained both adults and children. The food arrived hot and fresh. It was also exactly what we ordered. Everyone who had a salad said it was great, including the children. The menu was extensive just the way a good diner should be. The prices were excellent. I order fried chicken livers, squash and turnip greens. My only negative is the food was not seasoned well. When fried items come out of the fryer they need a hit of salt or whatever house seasoning you want to use. This clearly did not happen. It will not stop me from returning. Like I said previously the food was hot, fresh and priced right. An employee actually be "smart enough" to know there doors weren't open until 8 o'clock. MEANWHILE this is my first time picking up from This location before 8am & there is no visible sign on the doors, nor did the employee who took my order over the phone MENTION THAT at all. When I got to work is when I realized my food was incorrect nor edible. Only thing I could eat was the eggs and toast. Even their hash browns had plastic on them for melting through the container. I called them to explain this and they had me on hold for 20 minutes, in the middle of me explaining myself to the manager when I finally got ahold of him he hung up in my face. I called back they answered and hung up. And when I called back again he began RANTING on the phone told me to bring the food back, YET IM AT WORK THEY CLOSE AT 3pm he says to bring the food back tomorrow and I LAUGHED because why are you being sarcastic right now and I just spent my money for nothing ... never supporting again I threw all the burnt stuff out so yes I will bring back YOUR BURNT CONTAINERS FOR A NEW FRESH MEAL. read more

Absolutely failed!!!! The food was bland as if it was dump from a can to out plates. We had a party of six and I taste everybody's food and we all agreed this place is wayyy overhyped. My husband never received other parts of his meal (eggs, home fries or toast) waiter seemed so forgetful and overwhelmed; starting arguing with another waitress over tip money(the two waitresses looked like twins) the baked chicken was so bland and drenched with some nasty thick gravy. Turnip greens were cold. The whole meal was a disaster I sent my food back. The waitress never came back to apologize just kept glancing over to see if we left a tip. Manager seemed exhausted from all the complaints coming from different tables. Overheard another customer stated that her food was equivalent to jail food. We will never return. read more
