I was very skeptical trying out this restaurant, but boy I was pleasantly surprised. I got the corn beef hash combo with scrambled eggs and French toast. The French toast was so delicious, and the corn beef hash... wow so good. My husband got an omelette with the hash browns and he enjoyed it as well. Brother in law got the Carolina skillet and loved it too. Definitely our breakfast place if I'm too lazy to make it. Worth the money and the wait. read more

Have eaten in restaurant and take out often prior to the pandemic. Haven't been since the end of the pandemic. Recently a friend brought a filet of flounder sandwich to me that was delicious; looked great, tasted better. That sandwich was beautifully fried golden brown, well dressed (lettuce, tomato, pickle), full of flavor and presented with fries, etc. This week I decided to treat myself and order through take out, looking forward to another bite of that great sandwich ... NOT!!! When I got back home and opened the box ... sheer disappointment!! Apparently someone confused perch with flounder. The palm-sized fish was fried and folded inside a bun ... that's it. No lettuce, tomato, pickle ... nothing. Oh, small cups of tartar sauce and cole slaw and fries on the side. It was the bland sandwich that was so disappointing. As a senior I wanted to "treat" myself .. won't happen here again. No I did not take it back ... four mile drive back and forth; so I dressed the sandwich myself. I gave this restaurant 3 stars because in the past the food was very good, tonight though, the Flounder was exceptionally fishy tasting so much so that I couldn't even eat it. I understand that sometimes things happen but when I was still charged for the meal, coupled with the snippy attitude of the cashier when I told her about it, she had asked if everything was ok and I wasn't going to lie, I had to remove a star. If you visit this restaurant, stay away from the fish. read more

I've had nothing but great breakfasts in the four months we've been here in Charlotte... Food is presented well over medium eggs always cooked to perfection hashbrowns done exactly right and the toast is not just warm bread... :-) Only thing better are the servers! read more

Waited 45mins and still no dinner. After 30 mins we finally said something and they said they were rushing the order and would give us free banana pudding. The service was amazing. The waiters speak to you as if they have known you for years the true definition of making everyone feel like family. The food was delicious and made exactly how I love my eggs and fritries on es with buttery crispy edge pancakes per my request. Our first time in with a party of 9. The hostess was great since we had a couple stragglers and they only seat full parties. Server was nice and efficient. Wonderful breakfast! Very traditional, nothing fancy, diner like food (bacon, eggs, grits, toast, etc.) but sometimes that's all your looking for in a breakfast. The prices are very reasonable and the food sizes are fairly large. Have been here twice already and will definitely be coming back. read more

My wife and I came here for lunch. I had the Beef Tips and a salad. The lettuce on the salad was brown and the beef tips were so tough as to be inedible. My wife had the same and faced the same issue, however, her salad was better. I won't be back for lunch. read more

LOVED LOVED LOVED this restaurant. Outstanding cleanliness and sanitation score! Big robust menu with tons of options. Lots of comfort food. Great service. I had the grilled chicken served over rice. For my sides, I had the fried okra and the turnip greens. I was a bad boy and had the banana pudding too. It was so yummy. For those of you who read my reviews, you know how important a good quality glass of iced tea is to me. Well, not only did they bring a glass of iced tea, they brought an extra carafe of it too. I thought this was brilliant. It saved the server multiple trips to the table and I had the extra iced tea there for me when I was ready for it. I liked the diverse crowd in this restaurant. The only down side was the distance from my house and I have never seen so many rough drivers as those on Albemarle Road. I definitely recommend this restaurant without any hesitation. This was our first visit to the Sunrise Restaurant and we were a bit underwhelmed with the experience. I drink unsweet tea and was surprised that it was not at all fresh. The taste was very off, almost like it was made with a concentrate instead of brewed. I ordered a reuben sandwich. It was very nicely grilled and the corned beef was nice and tender. The only problem was the almost complete lack of sauerkraut...only a few strands for the entire sandwich. Very disappointing. When we checked out I told the cashier we were disappointed and she brought John the manager over. I told him that the tea was horrible and said it tasted as if it was made from a concentrate. He emphatically stated that the tea was fresh-brewed...maybe the sweet tea was, but the unsweet was really bad. He really was arguing with me and gave the impression that my criticism was not valid. He seemed exasperated with me when I mentioned the sandwich and was dismissive. He said he would make an adjustment on my bill, but only took the tea off the total. All-in-all, not a great first impression. If you can't get the little things right how can we trust you are taking care of the big things. Even though it is about 5 miles away up Central Ave., the Landmark Restaurant has better food with much better service. read more

I came here because we have one back home in GA. It was ok but for some reason didn't have the same vibe for me as the ones back home. I had the western omelette and it was ok but my friend had the fried fish and potatoes with grits. He didn't seem to really like his meal too much. The service is the worst. I have been there 3 times (once for breakfast and twice for supper). For breakfast I had to get my own coffee refills and never saw a server after she placed our order on the table. At supper, the first time they gave our order to someone else (according to them) and tonight they lost our ticket and we had to reorder. Both experiences lasted well over 90 minutes. I tried to give them multiple chances before I write a review like this. Management don't care and don't want to here about the service. The night we were there two other couples walked out because of the bad service. Add the fact that our food was cold when it got to the table and I hope you understand the review. They are only about a mile from me, but I will never go there again. Terrible experience. read more

We went in today for breakfast for the 2nd time in a month. The same thing happened to us this time....waited for a table while there are plenty available. Then are seated and wait 10 minutes without anyone coming over and asking what we want to drink or eat. A couple who came in 10 minutes after us is seated and immediately asked what they want to drink. We got up and left and will never go back. read more

It was our first time going to this place. We were visiting friends from Charlotte & all i have to say is yum & wow! We waited about 20 ish minutes to be sat (given we went on a Sunday morning about 11) & got our food quick. They have a breakfast special after 11 am and it's only $5 something - it was 2 eggs, a meat (bacon or sausage), toast or biscuit, and potatoes (home fries or hash browns, etc). Coffee was only 1.90. Everything was relatively priced and i can't say enough good things about our server - Sydney. She was attentive and always asking if we were OK. I highly recommend this place & will be going back. read more

Food was blah; gyro pita w/fries (showmars is better) calabash shrimp 'special ' ... meh, chicken slouvaki needed more spice.. Water taste funny too, we ordered ice tea. I must say I am impressed with Babe that worked at the to-go order room. She was remembering names of the guests that were coming in. She was super busy but remained professional and courteous the entire time. That is what customer service is. And it helps that the food is delicious at Sunrise Restaurant!!! read more

The food was ok and the service was ok. Don't know if I'd go back. The fruit was clearly from a can. Pancakes and eggs were good. The skillet was the best thing on the menu. Corn beef hash was terrible. Was kids friendly. Overall just not impressed but not bad. read more

I love the menu choices and the food is usually good but I won't go for a late dinner again. The waitress came back twice to get a substitute order for items they had run out of, the baked potato was obviously not fresh, serving size portions seemed to be smaller than typical, the green peppers and onions usually in one of the dishes were missing, and most of the food was luke-warm. I may as well go ahead and suggest that the waitress should follow the 6-ft distance advice when seating customers and not seat people back to back when most of the tables are empty. Our waitress was nice and gave us a free serving of banana pudding. read more

We decided to try this restaurant out for breakfast. At 7:30 am there was only a couple in front of us (we had a party of 5). The host was standing at the door and ignored all of us. The restaurant was empty even though it has been open for an hour or so. (I understand why later). After standing there for 10 minutes we all finally get seated. He seats the couple at a table and proceeds to seat us RIGHT NEXT to them at another small table...in an empty restaurant. I ask if we could perhaps sit at a larger booth towards the other end of the restaurant. He shoves the menus and silverware in my hands and tells me to go sit wherever I want! What? Rude! We sat ourselves and waited 10 minutes for the waitress to come take our drink order then waited another 20 minutes just to get our oj and water. I think she had to go to the orchard to pick the oranges and then came back and freshly squeezed them for our drink. Otherwise I can't think of why it would take that long just to get drinks. She finally took our food order and left. 25 minutes later we're still waiting for our food with empty drinks by now. We were getting pretty frustrated by this time because once again the restaurant was EMPTY. I threw down a $10 to cover the orange juice considering that's all we had so far after sitting there for almost an hour when the waitress comes back to the table to tell us that our food was almost ready. I guess she had to coerce the chickens to lay enough eggs for our meal idk. When she finally did bring out the food 10 minutes later all the orders were wrong. Everyone got scrambled eggs, burnt bacon, hard biscuits that my daughter actually chipped her tooth on and hash browns. To top it off she didn't apologize AND THE FOOD WAS COLD!!! This was the first AND last time we will ever eat here. read more

Was an okay place when they were located in the old Godfather's Pizza on Albemarle Road. Now further out and in a new building. Website does not have their menu listed for some strange reason. Walked in the to-go entrance to get a printed menu only to peek inside the kitchen area where the rude to-go woman was running her hands all up through someone's salad. She had just handled money. I got the menu and said no thank you, we will not be ordering anything after seeing that. Yuck! read more

My wife, daughter, granddaughter and I visited on November 4th at 9am for breakfast. What an awful layout, the kitchen is across the entrance so all food is carried past the entrance walkway to the dining area. We got seated and waited over 8 minutes for any wait staff to even acknowledge us. We ordered drinks and food to hopefully save time, it took over 25 minutes to get our cold food.. (butter did not even melt on my waffles and the blueberries where frozen). As the waitress was about to walk away we had to ask for utensils so we could eat. When we were almost done eating my daughters rye bread showed up (semi-warm). You may ask why we did not return the cold food.. well no one came back to ask how it was going and if we needed anything. In the end we had extra items added to our bill I had to have taken off. I give customer service a 0 and food quality also a 0. first impressions people.. your not the only place in town and now on our list of "don't waste your time" PS I only put one star on this because it would not let me post if I did not. read more
