I would urge anyone to not buy a car from this dealership. My husband did a trade in on his 2014 infinity to a 2022 Ford Escape. When he came home from the dealership I saw that the car was dirty, the floor of the car needed a vacuum, immediate red flag. I asked my husband why the car was dirty and he responded that they were really busy and he didn't mind cleaning it himself. I thought for an over $20,000 car this should have rolled off the lot cleaned and detailed. Days later my husband got a call that they needed further income verification, which I found odd because papers were signed and he had already driven off the lot. 3 days after this my husband took the car back to the dealership because the check engine light had been on. While on the lot they informed him that they made a mistake on his employment , they thought he was a Walmart employee, which he is, but works for Spark Drive and the dealership said the bank doesn't approve when the car is being used for deliveries etc. which is odd because at the time he signed he was approved based on his credit and income. After driving the new car for a week they had my husband return the new car and he was given his old car. During all of this I was working and was not part of the process of him buying this car however when it was time for the down payment I called and I provided the $500 down payment with my card, no problem. I have not heard of a dealership doing this before, our previous neighbors owned a car dealership and I have bought 3 cars myself. Since I was working during all of this I called the dealership myself and spoke to who my husband had been dealing with, the manager, (Kenny). It was very evident that the dealership did not cover their bases at the time of purchase. Kenny (the manager) explained how the bank doesn't approve when the car is being used for deliveries etc. which again makes no sense if your income is there. He continued to say he'd be happy to sell us a car based on my income if I wanted to be a co-signer. I informed Kenny (manager) that something wasn't right, between bringing home the car that was dirty, the calls back later for further verification, and then informing my husband that the bank no longer will finance due to the error they made on his employment, all this AFTER signing and driving off the lot, not to mention they already pocketed $500 off us, we will not be returning to this lot. I bought a 2011 BMW 328i x-drive 3 years ago from Sunset, beautiful car. a week after I purchase it, it started shifting hard. I took it back a week later and asked Eddie if he could take a look at it cause he told me his dad was a BMW guy and he knew quite a bit about them. He asked to take it on a test drive and of course I said, please do. When he came back he told me it "shifted like a dream" but, if I had any concerns to just "drive it in sport mode" the other salesmen kinda laughted and said that would get me a ticket. i laughed too but said ok and was relieved it wasn't messed up. Through out the years it kept getting worse and I could no longer even drive it in sport mode without jerking. The whole time I had been getting it serviced across the street at their mechanic shop cause I got a discount due to buying it at Sunset. I also purchased a warranty (good thing I did) because in October I took it in for a routine oil change and was told the power steering pump bracket was broken, the oil pan leaks, the val cover gasket leaks, and the AC pump has failed. (I get it its a Beemer it leaks) for 2 years I occasionally have put in coolant and power steering fluid. And have watched the oil cause it did leak/ burn oil. Nobody has said anything this whole time. when taking it in to S7 Automotive (I'll be writing another review for them, they have had my car for 5 months) this was what was wrong with it: (reading off the invoice) HVAC Condenser R&R, AC recover/charge, valve cover gasket, flex disk drive shaft, oil pan gasket, F lower control arms, power steering pump R&R, TRANSMISSION R&R!!!!, Radiator, Radiator hose, Axel nut and expansion tank hose. It took every bit of my warranty plus $711.88. I took the car in October 30th, got it back February 25th had to take it back in due to the heater now not working (they say it the thermostat and currentLu still have my car) but want me to pay for that too. I would love to take the car back to them but don't want another car from them. this is the second vehicle we have bought from them and I thought up until this point they are awesome and have recommended to many people. Since I questioned the transmission from the beginning I am very upset that I was lied to and made to feel dumb. I paid way too much for the car but at least I had the warrant. I should have checked Yelp before purchasing. Bought a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi, good price, but less than a month into owning, check engine light is on, goes off, comes on, runs rough. I contact Sunset Auto saying I want my money back, they send it to the shop S7 auto, and they claim no error messages. I take it back, and more error messages pop up in January less than 2 months after buying. They say they'll swap out a vehicle. That is NOT what they meant. They proceed to only offer me half of what I paid and to upsell me to a more expensive car, financing of 10% and I would owe them 12K! Claimed everyone was new in the last two months so they don't know anything about the sale of the car to me, until I demand their business manager. He claims he will try to send the car to Ford to get it fixed. I do not have any hope after my exchange with them over the "swap" that this will be resolved. read more

Firestone got me in and did a diagnostic. The diagnostic revealed that a sensor was out and both catalytics needed to be replaced. When I finally reached Sunset Auto and explained to them what was going on, they were dismissive and incredulous. They had me to bring the car into their mechanic who agreed to do another diagnostic and make the repairs. Dad bought a car here. Was just browsing yelp and saw the low star rating and was really surprised, because they were nothing but helpful to us. Sure they maybe talked too long about anime and the paperwork took a long time, but their service was fantastic. Dad got a used chevy bolt. It seems to work just fine. It does smell like wet dog, but used is used, and that's hardly the worse thing that can be wrong with a car. We even got free shot glasses out of it (and a bonsai). And I might add that at no point at all did it feel like the guy was trying to haggle or harass us. That's normally the worst thing about car dealerships, and the guy was nothing but chill. Weird experience. Saw a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix on their website for $8k with 36k miles. The price was right, car looked nice, so I texted the phone number on the ad inquiring about the car. First weird thing, the person you text, Shelley, isn't located at the Tacoma branch of this dealer, but at the branch in Puyallup. Also, texting was my first mistake, because Shelley harassed me for several days until I politely told her to shut up. Anyway, I texted the number, and Shelley says this car is still available. So I went down to the location in Tacoma, and met with Joe the manager at that site. He lets me know the car is currently being purchased by someone in Utah, this person has already paid to have the car inspected by a local mechanic, has arranged and paid for shipping of the vehicle to Utah, and is finalizing paperwork with his bank. Ok, cool, no problem! All I wanted to do was look at it, but if it's already spoken for, no harm no foul! I left. Next day, get a text from Shelley saying the car is still available. I called Joe to confirm, and no, the car is still spoken for, shipper has been paid for, car will be going to Utah in no time. Cool, again, no problem! Following day, another text from Shelley asking if I went and looked at the car. I tell her that Joe says the car is sold, so I didn't even bother going and checking it out. Then she drops the bombshell... She offers to sell me the car if I put down a deposit. REALLY? You are going to sell a car out from under someone in another state? Someone who already paid to have the vehicle inspected by a third-party mechanic, someone who has already scheduled and PAID for a shipper to Utah?! Someone who no doubt has been working on this deal for several days...but if I go down and put money down TODAY the car can be mine?! Keep in mind, I haven't even LOOKED at the car, I haven't even seen it in person, nor driven it. I have no knowledge of this car beyond your pretty pictures on your website. Totally unscrupulous business practices. Even if I decided I wanted to be shady and go and put a deposit down, where is my guarantee that they wont sell the car out from under me?! I can only imagine them saying, "Oh, well, yes you had a deposit, but someone came in after you and put a BIGGER deposit down, so now the car is theirs!" Bought a car here, the day of the engine light comes on- Thanks Dylan! Offered me a hefty service package. After declining multiple times, it somehow still ended up on my final sellers agreement. I sat down with my bank teller and right of the bat. He told me licensing should NEVER be 500$. He told me they completely overvalued the car and were ripping me off. For an Infiniti G35 with their service package and licensing, I was approaching 20k. After I told them to take the service package off again, and to lower the licensing fee, I got it lowered to around 14k. After I got back, eddy pushed the service package on me to the point where it was uncomfortable. I can't imagine what type of business they are when you don't ask questions. Not only that- 5 minutes after I get the car, my service light comes on. I just called today, and the shop they work with is getting me in. If they are going to try and make me pay I'm lawyering up. My daughter bought a 2003 Saturn Vue from here on payments and completed the contract. She the upgraded to a 2014 Ford Focus and traded in the Vue and is under a finance plan for the Focus. One week after buying the car the transmission started shuddering and they sent her to there mechanic across the street. $250 they said it was fixed... Transmission started shuddering again. I contacted Ford and there was a recall for the shuddering transmission but it was expired. She talked to the salesboy and he said he'd get it taken care of a few times. I was interested in a 2006 Pontiac GTO specifically and he said they had one coming in and would let me know when it came.. He called and said it was in, a black 2006 GTO... I went and looked at it and it was a 2004 with LS1 motor not the LS 2 which has more hip. Also told me it was a original owner car. Another lie. During this whole process he ended up with a set of my daughters keys that he said he left at his house.. Wft does he my daughters keys at his home. He hit on her and friend requested her on Facebook. Last week after he realized I wasn't buying a car, he blocked my daughter on Facebook and will not answer her calls. He even asked her what kind of car she bought??? She said a Ford Focus and he laughed and said that's why, you bought a Ford So now my 22 year old daughter that's worked her ass off during Covid as a essential worker is paying for a car that the transmission is going out... The dealership said the fix would cost her $2500. This is bullshit. You need to Give her a good working car and wipe the remaining balance.. ATTN ALL MILITARY and others. This was my first time going into a car dealership. I'm not an expert at haggling/ buying cars by any means but their blatant disregard for fair market price was absurd. I went in to see a vehicle knowing it was overpriced but was hoping to make a deal with them. The fair market value set by KBB was $8,300 and they were asking for $10,000. Then the salesmen I was working with said that he would check the blue book value himself so he proceeded to go into the managers office even though there was a computer right in front of us and a phone in my hand so that was a bit sketchy. Then he comes back with a sheet of paper claiming it was from KBB (If you look at it it's clearly not) that shows the "base value" of the car at $7,920 with "optional equipment" underneath the base value all valued in ranges from $53 to over $400. Some included heated seats, power seats, navigation, leather seats, myford touch, and keyless start. None of these features were on the car when I saw it on the lot just minutes before. I started the car with a key, no navigation, definitely no leather seats, adjusted the seat manually with the lever underneath the front of the seat, etc. I calculated all of the "optional equipment" that this sheet of paper said was included in the car and the value cane out to about $1200. So me trying to be a fair person I subtracted that from the listing price which came out to $8800 and decided I'd offer $8500(which is still above fair market value). Again the salesmen retreated to his managers office quite disgruntled. After about 10 minutes he returned saying there was no way they could make a deal with me on this car because the price they have it listed at is less than what they payed for it so they'd already be losing money. Before I left I asked for the paper he had originally showed me and again he went to his managers office and returns with a new paper with all of the things fore-mentioned deleted from the document(Picture included). Obviously I don't know what they payed for it but I find it troubling that they're still going to try to screw someone else over on the price of a vehicle because they did not do their research when they bought it. Moral of the story is if you want to spend more on a vehicle than what it is worth this is the place for you! I feel like I learned a lot from my first dealership experience so I thank them for that. But I highly recommend avoiding this dealership and will definitely be turning everyone I know away. Only gave one star because NO stars isn't an option. Highly dissatisfied and disappointed with this place. I would NEVER recommend anyone to go here and buy a car. I purchased a car that had to get an oil change the second week of driving it even though the sticker it had on the windshield said it just had an oil change. My key fob battery was low and the "spare key fob" they had given me was not even a working key nor the correct key to my car. Part of the deal was that they would give me an extra key and they did but gave me some random Jeep key probably to get me out the door. When I test drove the car the car had a new car scent . And when I was given the keys to take my car home I open the door and my car Reeked of CIGARETTES . Still about a month of now having the car it smells so bad of cigarettes because the stench was left on my cloth seats. But what I am most disappointed with is the fact that they gave me some random key to my car as a spare. I called the dealership to let them know about it and they told me to come in and they would get me the correct key or fix the problem. I get there and they have me wait in the car send out one of their new salesman to look at the spare key I was given. The new salesman leaves with the key and comes out to tell me his manager told him "that there is nothing he can do and that i will have to go to jeep to order a new key" part of the deal with me buying a car was having the spare key. Very disappointed and wish I never chose this place to buy my car. read more

I feel as though I was taken advantage of here. As a first time used car buyer, I would expect some information from the dealership about what the mechanic found when they inspected the car. I wasn't expecting $5000 in repairs that needed to be done to the car after I was told the mechanic inspected it and there weren't any issues. I did buy the car "as is" with no warranty which I understood and I acknowledged that the car had been inspected by the dealer's mechanic so of course I believed them, but what did he check? I expected that an in depth mechanic inspection would yield blown head gaskets, clutch issues, vacuum leaks, etc but I was not given this information. In the future, I would highly suggest that this dealership be honest with the customer about what they are buying since I, unfortunately, did not have the luxury of having a great first car experience. Now I will be saving up for the next few months while my car sits so I can pay for the maintenance on top of paying the dealership the amount of money an STI would have cost if it didn't have any problems. read more

I called in to inquire about a car and was told to do an application online on a computer. I only have an iPad and my cell at the moment so they offered to do it over the phone. The kid was new and was asking for help. One of the questions was who do you work for and the phone number. I work in a call center and there's not a number except the 800-number so I asked if they needed like an exact # to a supervisor or manager. The guy in the background was snarky and said if "she doesn't want to give it I can just look it up." Yeah it's a 1800-company name number, I'm pretty sure I know it but thanks for being an a**hole. I was told I'd get a call within 30 minutes. 50 minutes go by and I call back. I was told I would receive a call the following morning as it was a Sunday so they can check with banks. Monday after 5, no call. I call them and they said there was nothing they could do. Fast forward a week or two later. I get my mail and have over 5 pieces of mail from banks. I checked Credit Karma and there are SIX hard inquiries from dealing with them. SIX. WTF! Sketchy, won't call you back, and ran my credit waaaaay more than necessary. Cool. read more
