I just had a 'sirloin' in this place that was so artificial I was able to cut it with my fork. The 'blood' left behind (my MR) was purple. Educate yourself on artificial beef. It's real. Unbelievable! We had dinner tonight at the Sunset Grill with our next door neighbor. We live literally steps away from the grill and have been coming here on a regular basis for the past ten years. Tonight our neighbor ordered a Cape Codder. She was aware that it was not made with cranberry juice, but when she tasted it, she absolutely could not drink it. She exchanged it for a lemon drop, and was charged for BOTH drinks. Why? According to the bartender/manager, Joe, it was "Because she was served what she ordered. It was not the fault of the bartender because the drink was made poorly." Whatever happened to the customer is always right? For eight dollars, this restaurant is losing three regular customers? None of us will EVER return. read more

Sunset Grill is my favorite restaurant in Las Cruces. I always enjoy my experiences there. I like to take my wife there for dinner because it is like a little quick getaway to a more cosmopolitan place. The food and the service are usually spot on. We can eat in a relaxed pace. It is pricier to eat here but value isn't determined solely by price but what you get or the experience you receive for the price. It is always money well spent. We particularly love the fish we get at the Grill. We talked to our server who explained that fish is flown in weekly with ever-changing special offerings. I had a white salmon prepared here prevoiusly that was just perfect. Their bone-in rib eye is top notch also. I believe it is a must try place if you have out of town guests. My latest experience was the day after Thanksgiving when I took my family there for breakfast. We got a late start that day and arrived as they were preparing for lunch. Our server presented us with lunch menus but I inquired about breakfast. She went to the kitchen and they graciously agreed to make us breakfast. The server was simply wonderful and the food was great. My daughter, sometimes a picky eater, declared the French toast the best she ever had. We appreciated their flexibilty. Sunset Grill is absolutely the best restaurant in Las Cruces! The appetizers are to die for and the entrees are superb. The quality of beef and fish they serve is also top quality. I've been to this restaurant at least 10 times and never been disappointed. The menu itself will also put a smile on your face, but I wont spoil that surprise. read more

Well, tonight was my wedding anniversary and my husband and I decided to eat here. First of all, they changed the menu which I didn't find it very interesting for Sunset Grill. I ordered the special- Hawaiian Ono (fish). The waitress could not tell us anything about the kind of fish it was. I trusted the restaurant, knowing that they order fresh-flown in calamari every couple of days. The fish was a very firm-tough fish that was very bland. The veggies were good and then the basmati was cooked correctly, but no seasoning on it. I will never order this meal again!!! It was $25. They need to train their wait staff better. The hostess wore flip flops! The hostess put on a new table cloth and it was upside down with the white label showing on the black tablecloth. If they want to charge the high prices, they need to train their workers much better! And bring their A game to tastier food. I was very disappointed!!!! read more

I may never go anyplace else for breakfast again! Their breakfast skillets are delicious and the green chile was fresh and flavorful! Hatch chile or maybe from local farmer? Lots of food for a very reasonable price and great coffee too. Sit in their solarium and enjoy the great views! I'll be back for breakfast again soon. read more

I like this restaurant!! We have gone for breakfast and for dinner and the food and services is always good. It is a little pricey for Las Cruces but it is a nice night out and a change from the normal restaurants around here. read more

We ate here on a Friday night 2/10/2012 and had a great experience. The manager, Ivan helped us and stopped by our table a couple of times throughout our meal to make sure everything was good. I had the pork chop, my wife had some crab dish and our friends who happened to be there had the steak. The food was excellent and we will go back. The place was packed when we went with mostly an older crowd. The prices were a bit on the high end but well worth it. read more

My husband and I had an excellent meal there. We ordered the Chillean Sea Bass and the food was excellent. I would definently go there again. The atmosphere was nice and it has a great view overlooking the golf coarse. We also ordered the scallops as an appetizer and it was delicous. The presentation was good and we had good service! Someone recommended this restaurant and it is just down the street from my house. First went for breakfast had eggs benedict and the hollandaise was perfect! It was a cloudy cold morn and we sat by the fireplace very cozy. So we came back for New Years Eve Dinner It was really good food and was excellent sevice for such a busy night! Tonight I attended a business dinner with an out of town client, there were 8 of us and could not have been more disappointed. First we are told they were out of several menu items due to a party taking place, it was not until our client spoke with management that we were able to order appetizers. Three of us orders steaks, and 2 of had to send them back 3 times before we could eat them. My boss ordered the pork chop and it was not even cooked! The only reason I am giving even one star is due to most of the drinks being made correctly, and for the appetizers we had being ok. I use to recommend this place to others, but that won't happen any longer and I sure won't be back. read more

I eat out often (a little too often sometimes) and Sunset Grill is definitely a restaurant I recommend to people. The food is great, especially the burgers and chicken fried steak,the d rinks are delicious, and the employees are always nice to me. I go to eat during breakfast and lunch mostly. Their prices are a little higher for some things, but I feel they also give you more food and better quality food than most restaurants that charge what they charge. I also appreciate that I feel totally comfortable taking my 11 month old there and nobody makes me feel unwelcome even though it's a nicer restaurant. Recently, my girlfriends and I have started to have a little girl's night out on Wednesdays for their Martini specials and the bartender was awesome! He made my friend a great martini with her favorite liquor. Pretty sure that's her favorite drink now, and nobody makes it like the bartender from that night! read more

We had dinner there a few weeks ago and was pretty disappointed. The food was so-so, (ravioli had to have been frozen and were dry and sort of tough). My steak, while I asked for medium, was rare in the center but looked okay on the outside. We ordered a desert with a scoop of ice cream. What was delivered was a scoop of ice crystals. No one who scooped the ice cream could have missed the fact that the cream had long ago turned to ice. The server took it back and brought out what she thought was "vanilla bean" ice cream; which seemed odd, why would you have two different vanilla ice creams? Unfortunately, the vanilla bean ice cream also had ice crystals in it. We gave up! We were there on a weekend evening and there were only about 4 tables that were occupied, a telling sign. Sunset Grill is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Las Cruces. Since I live in the northeastern part of Las Cruces--close to I-70 and Roadrunner Parkway--it's convenient for my family and me. I love the food Sunset Grill offers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; I even like getting take-out meals from there. When I ordered take-out a few weeks ago, the person on the phone asked how soon I could get there because he didn't want my food getting cold--it's the little touches like that which make Sunset Grill a favorite of mine. Within my family, we enjoy many dishes...for breakfast, we like the Breakfast Burrito, Huevos Rancheros, and the Pancake Combo. For lunch, we have enjoyed the Ruben, Baja Tacos, Enchiladas, and Black & Bleu Chicken Salad. Their french fries are incredibly tasty and fresh. At dinner, I think Sunset Grill has some of the most elegant, delicious meals I've ever tasted (and I travel extensively)--topping the list is the Pan Seared Marinated Chilean Sea Bass... my brother-in-law's favorite: Tender Beef Tips with Mushrooms. We have always been very satisfied with the wine selection as well. Their servers are knowledgeable about the ingredients or will find out; the kitchen is willing to accommodate special requests--very important to my family because of gluten-free, dairy free dietary issues. I hosted a bridal shower at Sunset Grill and they went above and beyond!! I planned the entire thing over the phone months before since I live out of town, but Simon was so great that I felt he had it under control the whole time. He was always available to talk and even went the extra mile to order white tablecloths to match the happiness of the occasion. He has a great personality and is definitely perfect for this place. The food was FANTASTIC and it came out fast! Surprised me because there were about 15 of us. Our server, Michelle, didn't seem fazed by the big party and kept our drinks filled and the plates coming. She was so friendly and you can tell she loves helping people. The room was the perfect size and we loved looking out over the golf course. If I ever have to host another function in Las Cruces, Sunset Grill will be it! Thank you Sunset Grill for helping me fulfill my maid of honor duties. The bride loved it! read more
