At first this seemed like your classic diner with typical diner food and typical diner atmosphere. They were headed for a solid two or three star review because the food was decent (I had a munion burger which is a burger with onions and mushrooms and curly fries) and the service was so-so. Then the check arrived and we noticed some discrepancies. It went something like this: Me: (curly fries 3.50, hey wait a minute) excuse me, miss, I thought fries with a hamburger were 2.25. Waitress x: well what you said was a burger and curly fries, you have to say 'deluxe' if you want the fries for 2.25 with the burger. You also get lettuce and tomato if you say 'deluxe'. Me: (my friend also got a burger and fries and is being overcharged) that seems a little sneaky, can't you change it? Obviously we wanted a burger with fries and that's what we both meant. Why is it a 1.25 more just because we didn't say it the right way? Waitress: I can't just CHANGE it. You can talk to my manager in a few minutes if you want. You would have gotten less fries if you had ordered it the other way (the plates of fries were VERY tiny). So if you decide to stop in for the mediocre food please read the bill carefully before leaving or make sure you use the proper vernacular when ordering. read more

I might be wrong, but the order delivered to me was not what I expected at all. From the reviews I've read, I anticipated quality comfort food. However, I received just the opposite. The Union rings were soggy and dripping with oil, the corn beef hash looked like it came from a can, and the burger tasted like cafeteria food. Sunset Park Diner & Donuts, or just "Donuts" to me and my friends, is a go-to restaurant for a quick weekend breakfast. Like Jake L. said, this place used to be a bit harsher, but has cleaned up in recent times, for better or worse. It certainly feels a lot cleaner, but the 'art' and other decor leaves a little to be desired. Still, I'm not usually dining at Donuts for the atmosphere. I'm there for a good start to a weekend day; eggs, potatoes, coffee, and OJ for two dollars and some change. It's cheap but totally sufficient. And if you're up for it, they serve a mean milkshake, as any diner should. read more

Have only had the donuts here and can say that once I discovered them there was no going back. Bowties glazed in awesomeness is heavy on the calories, but a delicious piece of heaven. Word of advice, eat them the day of because they aren't nearly as good if stored for a day. Yums! read more

I have not had one thing from this diner that I didn't like! My boyfriend absolutely loves it too especially their chicken wings. I love that their menu is so extensive. Had a turkey burger delivered and was very pleasant surprised. My order arrived quickly and was packaged with the lettuce, tomato and pickle in a baggy so the bread doesn't get soggy. The patty was juicy, well seasoned and crafted from ground turkey not one of those frozen pre formed patties. I often go here just because of the atmosphere. It's the closest diner experience near my home! I love eating here and if you do come here, get the onion rings and beef brisket! I went here a few times and my experience was neutral. The last time I went though, we didn't say "deluxe" when ordering fries and ended up being charged five dollars for a side of fries. Forget about the old saying "the customer is always right". I have never been anywhere that the waiter/waitress hasn't said "oh let me put in your order like this, that way you save x dollars". I didn't eat here except for a couple time before the renovation and had not awesome experiences, but since renovation (of the restaurant and their menu and food) we go like every other day for something. This place has curly fries, sweet potatoe fries, a good breakfast sandwich and the utmost legit chicken souvlaki I've had yet. And burgers- its like $10 for a giant burger and fries- The waitstaff know us and are always super friendly.... I fell in love with this place last weekend when we took a stroll for a quick and simple dinner. "Francisco" was our server and in one word....adorable (HE is what I really fell in love with about the place!). What a wonderful personality he has to deal with the public. I had the chicken Souvlaki that was served with a Greek side salad and fries. The souvlaki was really good but the dressing for was, whhooooaaaaahh!! SOOOO garlicky!! NOT a complaint - *I* love garlic - it's the people around me who have to deal with it for the next 3 days :-/ If i could have found room for one, I would have gotten one of their delicious looking shakes! Menu prices are very reasonable but beware! They are a CASH-ONLY establishment (and the *only* reason they're not getting 5 stars) so hit an ATM first. I did not visit the restroom so I cannot comment on its cleanliness but the rest of the place was quite clean! I lived close to this diner and it's just what you need. I ordered delivery a couple of times using seamless or just by calling them to order. I didn't have one single bad order and had he chance to have dinner there before and it was amazing. Prices are reasonable and service speed is very good. I tried sandwiches, pasta, steak, salads and even the drinks. All the items are cooked really nice and it taste amazing every time. Passing through this neighborhood I decided to stop for a bite. Oh was I wrong...I should have just kept going by. The prices seemed cheap and you know what they say, you get what you pay for. I ordered breakfast and it was horrible. The eggs runny, corn beef hash (not), tasted like over processed bologna and home fries undercooked. I came here for a late breakfast with my friend. We both had french toast and bacon. The french toast is a bright yellow color. I have no idea how that happened, since neither eggs nor butter (nor any other food product I know of) is that color. It tasted fine, but I'm a little scared to know what sorts of chemical products I consumed. The bacon is delicious. Crispy and thin perfection.
