Sunset Park by far is my favorite park in Las Vegas... There's still many parks I've yet to explore but by far Sunset is my go to park. It's one of the biggest park with the most activities I've seen. Theres sports like basketball, tennis, baseball, jogging, volleyball, etc. There's a pond of water here, lots of ducks and family/friends activities to do like BBQing surrounding the pond. Dog park for dogs to play with each other. Overall my go to park to take my two dogs out or when i go jogging. read more

Frisbee golf, tennis courts, and a lake full of ducks and geese, oh my! This park is much larger than it appears when you're driving by. I've been here for tennis tournaments and 5Ks, and had drastically different experiences. Majority of visitors seem to be picnicking and birthday-partying families and friends, the pavilions and grills are available for reservation- though I don't know how you go about doing that. Plenty of parking and shaded areas, trails are clean and trash is regularly emptied. Unfortunately, the lake itself is disgusting with tons of trash that has blown in. The bathrooms are a crapshoot- the ones by the tennis courts are in relatively good condition, but the closer to the lake you get, the worse the bathrooms are. I'm talking no stall doors, no soap, and no toilet paper. Come prepared if you plan to spend a day out here. read more

Clark County Taxpayers' at work. As I write this review, Sunset Park is in a state of transition. Clark County has recently tripled the developed area of the park. It is a transition turning Sunset Park into the Central Park of Southeast Vegas. There are miles of newly paved trails with information signs. These trails travel through an attractive landscape that is fitting for a moderate walk. On April 15, I walked 6 miles on the trails. Aesthetic improvements are taking place throughout the park. New landscaping adorns the northeast portion. Attractive street lamps have been put up along the park drive in the northeast section. In the south center of the park an overlook was recently built. It affords views of the park and distant mountains. The view looking south and southwest gives the illusion that sprawl is relatively nonexistent south of the park. Sunset Park is a place to bring your dog. On the trails I passed several people walking their dogs. Sunset Park features a highly rated dog park. As I write this Sunset Park is a labyrinth of construction fences in the central to north central part of the park. The lake is only accessable on the southeast shore. As I found out, it is a long walk from the north parking lot. (Hopefully they are making drastic improvements to the lake). The parking lots from Eastern are in a state of disrepair. Sunset Park is in a state of transition. Clark County taxpayers' dollars are making Sunset Park a transition for the better. read more

This has become our go to park. The up keep of the park alone sets it apart. They switch the runs up on a monthly basis to allow grass to grow and all dogs a chance to play in a particular area. It's stinky at times and there are bad dog parents every so often but it's not as bad as some parks. There's a nice shaded area with cement picnic tables for the humans to relax and socialize. Water fountain for the dogs, if your dog is fond of puddles, watch out...this place gets muddy and wet with all of the water run off. Many of the humans bring balls to play with and buckets for water for everyone to use. There are poo bag stations as well as pooper scoopers to help with cleaning up after your furry one. This park is fun it even has a pond with ducks oh yeah I have pictures :) Its huge space is so cool because you can fly a kite or run around with your children. I use to come here often on my lunch break. Then it hit me yelp from this location. I so didn't know I would find it but yelp their it was. And its peaceful and relaxing. I like to take bread to feed the ducks they always seem hungry. I play brave until they all walk in my direction then I run away :) Its a dog park and can even be a romantic walk to walk your husband. The playground here is huge!!! And a cool "log city" theme. It's created by Landscape Structures so you know it's a cool playground. Love the duo swing, logs warped into tunnels and such and just the feel of the playground. During the summer they operate a beautiful water pad area. My kids could probably play here for hours. This park is huge! My daughter was recently suspended from school and I brought her here to pick up trash. I wanted her to give back the community after making some bad decisions. I was surprised how much trash occupies this great park. This park has everything, softball fields, trails, a nice pond with ducks, dog park, volleyball courts and a nice water park for the kids. I suggest you stop by, clean up after yourselves and enjoy the ducks. There is a homeless problem here. I am not sure why they like this park so much but I always see them by the softball fields on Eastern/Warm Springs close to the bus stop and bathrooms. I also see them by the softball fields close to Eastern and Sunset. Sunset park is also home of events like Pet-a-palooza which is a great annual event to support the local animal community. read more

I've really come to love this park. It is a very large park and there are a lot of events that go on. People though..geez. Do not pick up their trash after parties and events. I volunteer here every once in a while to pick up trash and they are a lot of local people including some homeless people that keep the park clean. There is a lot of beautiful wildlife including large geese and ducks. People, bread is bad for them! There is no nutritional value in bread, so pick up some seed or something healthy for them before feeding the ducks. You can fish here and it is a very calming, relaxing area to do it, especially very early in the morning. They do have park police in the park, but never really see them around. So, not exactly sure what they do there other than park their cars there. There has been a lot of crime at the park including a murder and some shootings that just happened. Just be careful. It can happen anywhere, but just be careful. There is a splash pad and a ton of nice playgrounds to pick from for the kiddos. Plan on getting to the park early for a spot to relax near the splash pad during the summer. Also, some of the areas for picnics can be reserved, otherwise it is first come first serve. Overall beautiful park, lets just keep it clean and safe so we all can enjoy it. read more

It's summer time I've been trying to enjoy the various parks Vegas has to offer. I love Sunset Park though I haven't enjoyed the newer sections of the park yet. They're still renovating the place off and on so some parts are closed or look messy. But from what I remember what the park was and what the plans are I love it. It will get a 5 once everything is open. I'm glad they're finally utilizing the area between the main park and the park on warmspring. I use to run on the unmarked paths just because I wanted to explore some but I felt like I was trespassing. At least now there are trails, maps, shaded structures, and a little more planning and organization going on. The other night I didn't notice any lights that were on around the running paths or even along the back roads of the park so please watch look out when running and driving. I remember there being these obsticles along the paths so maybe they're still there. I also remember the large duck pond having a stinky smell to it. Again from a few years back. They still have bunch of sand vollyball courts towards Sunset and 1 along Eastern towards the Warmspring. They still have the fresbie course, tennis court, kids playgrounds, baseball fields. And a filty basketball court which does the job with a lot of hoops but you will get dirty bring a towel or something to whip yourself down from all the dirt. They have a duck pond with I've seen people fish out of. Lots of area for grilling, hanging out, enjoying some air and sun outside. read more

Nice park. It's really big which I like. Parking is never hard to find. The lake area smells though. Not that I expect it not to, it's a lake after all. They have a large variety of kid play areas. Nice walking trails. There are lots of fire ant hills though so be careful where you walk. No one cleans after their dogs but that's a problem at every park. My kids and I like it here. We feed the ducks. There are bunnies, you can see around sunset. Lots of places to run and people watch since it's always a very busy park. There is a security/police station attached to the park which makes you feel safe. Overall, it's a nice park. Love coming here during the weekend when traffic on eastern and sunset isn't so heavy. read more

I am so sad to write this review, as a Las Vegas native who was raised at this park I have seen this place just be trashed more and more!! It is so heart breaking. The park is beautiful, really it is, tons of grass, beautiful trees, the sun sets and rises perfectly on the pond, there are plenty of athletic fields and courts as well as play grounds and pic nic tables. For such a big and beautiful park that has such high traffic, i have to ask where is the park security? Park rangers? Anything??? People come to this park for the beauty and leave it completely trashed. The pond is complete scum (literally) and there are cigarette buds in every crack of the sidewalk. Food debris including chicken bones lingers at every picnic table less than a foot away from the trash can. Homeless are sleeping on the benches, or even camping out in their tents and hiding in the bushes! One Saturday I couldn't even walk around the pond without being harassed... in fact I was harassed twice before I made it back to my car. Parties popping off at every table with music and balloons and large crowds but no one there to monitor the park, no security to make sure there wasn't alcohol or a fight didn't break out... nothing. I had to depend on a good samaritan to step forward or to use my pepper spray. Today I took my 9 month old son to feed the ducks and the pond is filthy. The ducks aren't even in the water it's has so much scum. Cans are literally resting on top of the surface without movement. And it smelled horrific! I've watched this place go from being beautiful to being disgusting, but not even just ugly disgusting, it has become unsafe! and it breaks my heart!! I hope the city will hire the appropriate people to manage and maintain this park and preserve its beauty!! read more

I mainly like going to this park so I can walk a couple of laps around the pond, but I really hate the fact that people do not clean up after themselves and just leave their garbage lying around on the picnic tables. Seriously, it only takes a minute to throw things away...don't be lazy and don't expect someone to clean up your junk right away. Renaissance Fair takes place here every October and I attended that last year. The pond is also building up with trash and junk. It's not good for the geese and ducks swimming around in it. Sometimes, I see geese and ducks with fishing lines stuck to their legs because people who fish do not seem to care about safety. There's homeless people hanging around the park as well, but I've never had a problem with them. Mind you it can get a little sketchy here at night. read more

Ducks, bunnies, dogs, trails, a lake, nature, mountain views and sunsets... This park is pretty awesome for many reasons and I've become a regular visitor even coming all the way from Summerlin. It's worth the drive... I enjoy feeding the ducks, birds and all their friends along the lake and I typically end up making a few rounds around it. You'll see people fishing and walking their dogs here as well. You can also relax or eat something at one of the many picnic tables. Next I move over to the walking trails and feed the bunnies and I love watching them along with all the birds who live there as well. There are nearly 4 miles of trails here! This park is open daily from 6am-11pm and has over 214 acres to explore. This is not a park it's a lifestyle. This place has so many land that it contains a pond, a running trail, beach volleyball area, basketball court, baseball/softball fields and so much more. A good place to bring your kids to explore and drain their energy while here. I've played basketball on the courts which is nice because there is a lot of courts but the playing files could use some renovation. Fishing at the pond is cool, just bring the right bait and avoid the ducks and birds that might swarm you. I remember coming here to play Pokémon go when it first came out. Sunset Park Just as beautiful as ever! Very well kept and manicured park. Sunset park offers; An amazing lake for fishing, small boating and picnicking with many areas to sit and barbecue. The park offers an amazing trail for walking, running, exercising, walking the dog or walking with the family and yes bird watching.. located within the park are areas for outdoor basketball, several lots for sand based volleyball, soccer and baseball/softball fields. This park Pretty much offers it all! I love this park! It has so much and even though this park gets a bad rep from being in this old neighborhood there is a old school feel from it that makes it so much more enjoyable. I mainly hang out at the volleyball courts (as if you couldn't tell by my pictures). There are 7 Volleyball courts and for the most part the sand is pretty awesome. The people that occupy the courts are usually pretty cool, you will get some snobs every now and then or people that just wan to play by themselves but for the most part if you let people know your level and they are a match they will scrimmage with you. The nets are pretty good and they are adjustable. One of the restrooms is south of the volleyball courts by the playground. I recommend parking in the parking lot to the west of the courts. Aside from the Volleyball courts this park has a little pond with ducks and geese. (The geese are assholes from what I can remember) I believe you can fish there during certain parts of the year. The frisbee golf course has people around it a lot of the time, and the dog park as well. You will see the pokemon go people doing their thing and some people selling girl scout cookies. All together this park is a badass place to hang out to play sports or just park and chill. read more

My dog and I love to go for walks in this beautiful park, the small lake with the ducks and other water fowl is very serene. The walking paths are wide, my only suggestion is that the pork is missing water fountains so that I can provide water for my dog if we spend an extended length of time there. It's sad that I have to give this park a 2. I've lived here in Vegas for over 40 years. There's a time when I would have given this park a 5 but those days are long gone. Now days the park has become a hangout for vagrants. In times past you could take a walk around the park and enjoy it's beauty. Now you have to keep an eye out so your not mugged or hassled by the riff raff that hangs out there.. The beautiful pond in the middle is now a smelly dump. There's always dead fish and trash floating around in it. It is a large park so there's plenty of room for the yearly renaissance fair and other events of that nature. When things like this are going on and there's a security presence are about the only times I'd visit the park anymore. read more

Sunset Park is huge ! I like that is has multiple play grounds situated around the park. The playgrounds are clean and well shaded. There is also a splash pad, to help the kiddos cool off. There are areas around the park where you can bbq and have a picnic. It is near many fast food restaurants, groceries, and dollar stores. These allow you to conveniently buy items needed for a picnic in the park. There is a lot of shade throughout so if your working out or biking there is some relief for you. Enjoy ! read more

Parking lot was super dirty, food wrappers, dirty diapers, just trash everywhere. Several birthday parties, get together BBQ's were happening, kids running around with out masks. The pond smelled really bad and the water level was down a lot. I can't see how people were fishing in that nasty smelly water. Suggestions having someone picking up trash around the park sanitizing tables/ bathrooms possibly? Adding a sanitization machine by the play yard like how there are doggy bags to pick up poop why not add something like that for kids to play but also keep sanitized. read more

Sunset Park Dog Park is such a great park to bring my dog to when we travel to Las Vegas. They have two huge areas (one dedicated to large dogs and one dedicated to small dogs) plus an extra one they put into rotation when the one of them are being cleaned. There are not many places to necessarily walk your dog especially when staying on the strip, so we load Zeus up in the car and drive ~10 minutes to this lovely park. There's plenty of parking and we've never not been able to find a spot. When it is dark, there are lights that come on. We'll keep coming back when we're in the area. 2016 Review #60 read more

I frequent Sunset Park for PokemonGo events and walks and have always had a pleasant experience until today. On the Southeast side of the park near the restrooms, a homeless man assaulted my partner and I for taking photos of a passing roadrunner. The man approached us from one of the small camps claiming that we took pictures of him and swung at my partner while we were explaining why we had our phones out. We backed off but the man followed us and continued to verbally threaten us. We left the park for our safely and hope that he didn't confront anyone else as there were others walking nearby. It's a bummer that we can't enjoy a walk in the park and admire the local wildlife without being endangered. read more

We were looking for somewhere to kill time during the day before our redeye flight back home. Not wanting to spend too much money. No last minute gambling in The Vegas for us. What to do? Search for a park and here you go! This was a pleasant place to pass some time. There were lots of areas to walk and watch the birds. There were people of all ages here. Families and children playing on the playground and running around. Young couples taking a stroll. The park was massive and we only walked a portion of it. Yes the restrooms were not Ritz Carlton quality. In fact, I don't remember there being hand soap. Always handy to have baby wipes on vacation! For a public restroom, can't expect much. If I lived in the area, I would picnic in this park for a low key activity. read more

I love the park I've fished there for years in the big lake I ate the trout and they were really good they stock once a week in the spring. Whenever I come to Las Vegas on birding trips, I always visit Sunset Park. It's easily the best urban birding park in Las Vegas. It's been 3 or 4 years since I had visited the park. It has, essentially, been taken over by the homeless. They were crowded around the bathrooms (good luck feeling safe if you need to go). Tents were set up in areas that used to be good for birds. Trash is everywhere. This is a sad situation for Las Vegas residents. There were still lots of runners and dog walkers using the park, but I did not see any families using or getting ready to use the park. Not sure what the solution is. Obviously, this is a problem throughout the United States. read more

It's really a nice and well kept park. Very large and a lot of different areas. You can feed ducks in a pretty big pond or watch the remote boat races, walk in the rustic part for adventure in the natural habitat, host parties with covered area and grills or come to one of the many community events. Great for a nice walk or bring the kids to play in one of the many areas for them. Lots of local sporting events to watch too. Very enjoyable. read more

Here's What you need to do. Go to the Dollar Store across the street from the park. Buy a loaf of bread, or multiple if your heart desires. Go across the street to the park. Find the pond area and be prepared to be swarmed by hundreds of intimidating, yet friendly geese, ducks, pigeons, other types of mystery birds. Feed them and have fun! This is the best place to feed the ducks ever! If you"re on a date, if you have kids, or if you simply like ducks and sunshine! Great great park! read more

Amazing dog park. I take my frenchie here multiple days a week, and it's such a great experience. The park is clean, well maintained, and lots of friendly dogs. As for the cleanliness, there's always poop bags stocked, the trash never smells, and the areas are clean and trash free. (Although some people throw their cigarette butts on the ground in the dog runs, which is extremely upsetting.) I usually take Louis in the morning and there are always a bunch of really friendly dogs and owners. I took him in the evening once and it seems like there are a few more light run ins with unfriendly dogs. Nothing major though. The park is separated into 35lbs and under small dog area and a large dog area. It seems like they cycle through areas. One is closed for maintenance and then two are open. So sometimes your area may switch. There's always lots of little containers of water spread around everywhere so if your dog is possessive, there really won't be much of a problem! Definitely give this place a shot. It's pretty central and there are always dogs there, no matter the time of day or week. read more

This park is awesome! I frequent this park for about an hour at a time, a couple times a week, and I love it here. Aside from the occasional weirdo, most folks are friendly. The weekends bring lots of activity to all areas of the park. They have recently renovated a large area, I have not been to that part yet, but plan to go very soon. I hear it looks great. The desert trail portion of the park is always a favorite of mine, along with many other outdoor enthusiasts. Runners, walkers and cyclists happily share the trail with bunnies and nowadays, bumblebees. I have seen tiny snakes and hummingbirds while on the trail. Everything and everybody will leave you alone if you are into a solitary outing. If you are in the mood to greet passersby, almost everyone will oblige. Some runners are in a zone, so don't take it personally if you get ignored. The park is open from dawn till dusk and the desert trail gets pretty busy when the sun comes up. Most dogs are on leashes. I have seen assorted characters arise from the bushes in the center, so it might be wise for ladies to pair up with a partner before heading into the more remote areas. Beautiful park located on the SE side of town, next to the airport. Not only you get a nice view of planes landing at the McCarren International Airport (if anything, almost a better and closer view than the viewing spot on sunset XD), but there's a super wide variety of stuff to do at this park. 8 Tennis Courts, 8 full basketball courts (or 16 half courts), 8 baseball fields, 7 sand volleyball courts, frisbee golf, and the only park in the city to have a HUGE lake where people can picnic, bbq, fish, play on the kiddie playground, etc etc etc. On a nice weathered day, its a wonderful place to be to hang out or even be on your book/kindle and enjoy the weather and scenery of the lake ! Tons of parking EVERYWHERE. AND i believe theres a few walking/biking trails located east and south of the park. Love it ! On Warm Springs near corner of Eastern this dog part area is not off of Sunset. Very large parking lot, plenty of shade and table areas for fur parents and plenty of running water and large buckets to keep the babies well watered. I love this park and so do my fur babies! I go about 2+ times a week and the particular time/days that I go there...it's the exact same small group of people. I think it's super cute and we all talk to each other and the people that frequent here with me are super duper nice. I go to the 35 pound and under side because that fits my babies description and it's super large. So large that yesterday when I was there I could not even see one of my explorer boys! They have PLENTY of doggie bag dispensers and scoops/dustpans etc so there is NO excuse not to clean up after your dog. Even though there is not a close doggie park (other than the CJ Park dump :( ) near Rainbow/215 area...I still make the trip to Sunset for my boys every week because they love it. This park makes a wonderful meetup spot. Breed specific meetups are frewuently held at this park on the weekends. read more

I love this dog park! Everyone is really friendly and respectful of the rules. The park offers 3 different sections for small, medium, and mixed dogs. I recommend going on weekends so your pup can socialize with a lot of dogs. Mon-Wed the park is usually empty until late afternoon! Tip: Bring a dog bowl to fill up at the water fountain. read more
