It's been year's since we've come here but we do like the home feel of the facility and it's near the great-grandparents house for a quick bite to eat.

Sunset is the quintessential town cafe. Locals and visitors love the down-home food, and the staff is always friendly. Hubby always gets the double cheeseburger, and I'm stuck on the chicken salad sandwich on gluten-free bread, with a side salad. It's hard to leave something that totally works. Although I never can eat them, because of gluten intolerance, they are known for their pies, so you may want to indulge for dessert.

Sunset is going downhill . Got a to go plate, portions were small. Potatoes were brown? Paid over 11 bucks for this?

Ordered a "Mikes Chicken Strip Salad with Raspberry vinaigrette. Clean, crisp, and fresh, this salad was excellent! Good service. We will be back! Thank you for making our lunch a good one!

Clean restaurant, nice and friendly service. Breakfast is the best. If you have time to try the turkey dinner, it's very good.

Bad news here. Ordered meatloaf and received a big piece of raw meat on the side of it.

We were not real hungry so ordered from the appetizer menu. Tomato bisque, smoked trout dip with crackers, Roasted beet salad and a glass of sangria. The tomato basil bisque was absolute "must try" good. The smoked trout was much to salty, maybe just my taste buds. The roasted beet salad was also good with fresh greens and an interesting assortment of almonds. But the beets were not roasted. Fresh beets are full of sugar and when halved or quartered then roasted, the sugar caramelizes and gives a unique flavor to the beets. These beets had no special flavor, they were from a can and quartered. Now the really bad, especially as they are a winery. I like sangria, it's a refreshing cool summer drink, composed of fresh fruit (apples, pears, plums, grapes and a healthy portion of citrus) and wine that is left to marinate. I watched the bartender add some 1/4inch pieces of green apples to a glass, fill with ice cubes and add wine. That is not sangria, that is watered down wine with an apple garnish. I will say that the food at other tables really looked good.

When it was our turn to order the lady behind the counter wasn't very pleasant. But I took into consideration that maybe she was having a bad day or had had a sour customer earlier. So I started to joke with her and then she smiled and laughed. We have been back lots of times and she always greets us with a smile and is very pleasant. We're buddies! I believe that first impressions should be taken with a grain of salt, we all have bad days. If a server is having a bad day give them a break and be nice. They'll appreciate it. Their sandwiches are always good and the restaurant is clean and well stocked.

She then started taking everything out of the bowl, huffing and talking crap about me in Spanish--very rude. I only asked if this could be done because it was done on my first salad without having to ask....now it seemed like the most inconvenient thing for her to do....we also heard her talking crap about other customers as they walked in while she was eating in the back... i was unable to get her name because she wasn't wearing a name tag, but I can say I will not be returning to this subway again...which is sad because we enjoy eating here

You walk in, grab a tray, and you've got options. You can go through the hot bar and get served right there, pay, and be on your way... or order off the menu, sit down, and they'll bring the food to you. Very simple and efficient. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating, and there's also outdoor seating if you want it. Parking is easy too, which is a big plus, especially compared to the chaos you'll run into closer to Helen. Food wise, I always judge breakfast spots by the chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit... and this one held up. The chicken was tender, the biscuit was soft and fresh, and overall it was a solid start. The surprise for me was the hashbrown casserole. It came out good, but once I added a little salt, the flavor really popped. Definitely worth getting. The pancakes were also done right... nice crispy edges with a soft, fluffy inside. That's exactly how pancakes should be. Menu wise, they've got everything you'd expect from a Southern breakfast spot... biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, pancakes, omelets, and even lunch style items like burgers and plate meals if you come later. They also have a Coca-Cola fountain, which is always a win. Service was friendly, especially for early morning, and the whole place just has that comfortable, old-school home cooking feel. There is also a drive thru if you don't feel like leaving your car. Overall, this is a great spot if you want a good breakfast without the crowds. Simple, tasty, and easy.
