Booked a month in-advanced for my first reef snorkeling trip for our group. But then I got called just a day before from Sunset Watersport saying the 9:00am trip is cancelled and will need to put us on the 1:00pm trip. I asked why and their reply was that they wasn't sure if they would be ready for it a month ago (Then why the heck would they take reservation?) I was upset due to the parasailing trip I have booked for the afternoon(with Fury Watersport) needed to be re-scheduled. (And i am glad that i was able to re-schedule my parasailing to the morning with Fury). That was't the end of the story. Sunset watersport called me again at the same day just 15 minutes before the scheduled meeting time, and once again tell me the trip will be canceled due to captain's order (whatever that means) and there is nothing they can do. I was really really really DISAPOINTED. They ruined my plan once again, not knowing if I would be able to get on another snorkeling trip that day since we will be leaving keywest the next morning. So i rushed back to Fury watersport, where I had my morning parasailing with, they were helpful and able to put me on their trip immediately at 1:00pm and also gave me a 10% off discount knowing how i got screwed by sunset watersport. Pleas don't bother to book with Sunset watersport. They don't care about our plans and do not fullfill there end of their promises. Worst EXPERIENCE EVER!!! read more

My girlfriend and I were staying at the Sheraton Inn and Suites and decided to check out the beach across from our hotel. Our front Desk told us that the chairs at the beach are $15 so we went fully planning on paying this price. When we arrived at the Beach the person that came over to us, His name was Hunter, told us it was $40 total. Even though that was more than we expected because that's not what we were told at the hotel we decided we would still pay and enjoy the day at the Beach. Right after us there was a group of people that the person told would be $10 a person. This confused us and so we asked him about the discrepancy. He then told us it was $15 a person plus tax. I'm no math major but I can do simple math and that would mean the tax is over 30% which sales tax in Key West is actually 7.5%. There was also another couple that arrived and they told them it was $16 a person which would make sense if it's $15 plus tax. I can't help but to wonder if they fact that we were the only couple of color as to why our price was higher. I am not the type of person to throw out the racism card lightly, but I also can't seem to deduce why else we would be charged so much more for our chairs than everyone else. If this is the reason I can't say I'm surprised but I'm EXTREMELY disappointed that this would be the case, as I came here with my girlfriend for a relaxing stress free vacation and I spend just as much money as anyone else to do so. These guys are awesome and absolutely love what they do. I was in a group of 10 girls doing the Jet Ski Tours at 2pm. We all decided to ride as double to save some $$. What the last review mention is true, they go FAST and i wouldn't recommend a first time driver for this. My friend was the driver and it was her first time and get extremely nervous. Mike was attentive and saw she was struggling and recommended that I ride with him while my friend got more comfortable driving. To tell you the truth, I was pretty thankful my friend was having a difficult time and I was able to be with someone who was experience. And of course, I would rather be holding onto him than my friend . He was friendly and made sure I was comfortable. He let me know if the water was going to get more bumpy. I had a blast getting to know him and enjoy an extremely fast ride all of the girls I was with were jealous. Needless to say, this place is great and great staff. Only reason for the 4 stars for a few reasons: parking situation was strange (it's valet only but yet we parked our own car and still had to pay $5) and I wish there was more instructions for how to operate the jet ski before actually taking off. read more

We had a really bad experience with these guys. Starting from their customoer service to their boat captain they were pretty rude, except for the photographer who is a nice guy. We already had four groups for 1 hour parasailing slot and they added one more group before borading. I am fine with businesses making more money but that resulted in a rushed parasailing experience for everyone. They say that every group gets 10-12 minutes of parasailing time but we ended up with much less time of parasailing. I would not recommend parasailing with them. Look for some place less crowded or less greedy. read more

Visiting key west for the first time and wanted to try something new. Found sunset water sports and booked a tour for the jet skies. Jesse was our tour guide and from the very beginning was super chill and personable. Asking us where we were from, telling us about his life, making us feel like long time friends. While on the tour Jesse was great. He made a point to check in with the group to make sure we were all doing ok. He gave us information about the ocean and life in and around the island. This was my first experience on a jet ski and it definitely makes me want to keep riding. I highly recommend them, especially if Jesse is your tour guide. read more

Had a ball on a 20 odd mile tour around Key West on Waverunner with Jake and Matt. They gave us instruction, watched out for the newbies, and gave us several chances to stop and jump in the water. They also pointed out a nurse shark and a ray. I left my cell phone behind at the desk, because they said it would probably bounce around too much. They were right. But I wish this tour would do one thing. On another tour I took, the guide took our pictures with his own phone while the tour went slowly under a bridge. Then the guide would text or email the photos. Parking is at the Parrot Key Resort, and cost $5. You could park at Walgreens and walk over. read more

A group of us drove down here from Miami to enjoy some water activities and the hotel we were staying at informed us that Sunset Watersports was the best in town. We made our reservations for the "Do it All with Parasailing" and it included a hot lunch with drinks of our choice. Their a couple reason why they didn't receive a full 5 stars from me. The day before arriving I just wanted to make sure where we had to meet them and what time it'll be. The lady that answered the phone was so rude and was talking to me as if I was stupid. Another thing was you legit have to pay for everything I would think that if I'm paying $139 it would include the jet skii test that you have to take before riding the jet skii. You even have to pay $45 for pictures they take of you when you are parasailing. Overall it was a good experience and the staff was super friendly and knew their shit. Next time I'm in Key West I would definitely come to them for water activities! read more

Went on the jetski tour with nikko and company and it was a blast had alot of fun. They try and line you up fastest to slowest so that you can ride at whatever speed you want which is really great. Well... We signed up for an all-day beach pass, which included parasailing, at Smathers Beach. We were on the first parasailing group out on 6/4/15. While the boat and equipment were top-notch, the crew left something to be desired. One used the "N-word" almost immediately once we were on the shuttle boat, and the other made an inappropriate race-based joke -- all in the first 5 mins... The actual parasailing experience was safe and generally fine. We also spent time doing the other watersports activities -- sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding... All of those services, and the folks running those services were great. Matty (Maddie (sp?) was friendly and had great tips and suggestions. The guy that gave us a hobie cat lesson was great as well -- and very helpful when we had an unplanned encounter with a sea urchin... If it weren't for the racist comments of the parasailing trip, the rating would have been much high (4 or 5 stars), but those sorts of comments are wholly unacceptable. read more

OMG. Selfish, selfish selfish. My friend found this snorkeling trip, not sure how, but it was about $43 a person for a sunset snorkeling to 2 locations + watching the sunset with sodas and beer. It sounded good to us. The two staff was the boat driver and some young, annoying girl. There was a whiteboard on the boat that just said we should tip them 20% of our ticket. Nothing about safety, welcoming, or a good time. We saw them before we met them. Once aboard, the FIRST THING THEY TOLD US (and I am not kidding) is that we should tip them at the end, which, depending on the ticket price, should be about $10 a person, but we could do the math. Why the hell would I consider tipping you if this is the first thing out of your mouth? I don't feel this was a situation that called for tipping, but since everything these days seems to require it, my friend and I considered it. (It would have been nice to be forewarned, as we didn't exactly plan to carry cash with us as we went a mile out into the ocean to snorkel). They did absolutely nothing to deserve a tip, let alone carry on a decent job just to be worthy of our payment. The guy driving the boat told us about emergency procedures and hand signals (as required by law, I'm sure) and the girl just rambled on annoyingly about how she moved to Key West for her boyfriend. That was absolutely it, they did nothing else, not even interacting us or acting like they cared about how our time would be. I got incredibly seasick and threw up during the first snorkel and had to sit out the second location and half the sunset. Totally not their fault, of course, but they didn't care at all. As I climbed onto the boat after they watched my puke off the step ladder, they told me where to put my flippers and ignored me the rest of the trip. Cool! And as we docked, they reminded us we should tip and the girl even held the tip jar in her hand as we deboarded and watched what people put in. So trashy and rude!! I'm so angry they even had the gall to ask for a tip, and then so blatantly and like 5 different times. They don't care about snorkeling or how much fun you do (or don't) have, they're just trying to squeeze extra cash out of you. If you like this sort of thing, then this is your place! read more

While on our vacation in Key West we (Group of 6) signed up with Sunset Watersports for their All Day fun trip which included an evening Sunset Dinner cruise. We split the Dinner Cruise to another night since this would have been too much 'fun' for one day. The all day adventure had some good and bad parts. We had a lot of fun on the Jetskis, although the 'go as many times as you want' is a pipe dream because there was too many people all fighting to get their turn. Went Parasailing. which was my wife I's first time and it was a blast. Photographer onboard does a hard sell for you to buy his photos because apparently he isn't paid and only makes money on those... We caved in and bought the CD's since there was 6 of us, and we got him down to $10/person (originally $40/per) and if you don't I suspect your time on the parasail would be less enjoyable.... Snorkeling and other activities was a joke because they didn't have enough life jackets for everyone (not even close) and they wouldn't let you go into the water (even if you are a great swimmer) without one. So it was a battle to try and get lifejackets and everyone was hording them when they did so nobody else could use them. The area they take you to is a sunken ship, although it's in about 6 feet of water, and by the time we were able to go, the ship was above the water (tide went out) so we could see it from the boat. We were Parasailing when they started lunch on the boat, so when we got back there was limited pickings.... Dinner and sunset Cruise a couple days later was good. Free drinks and we got plenty of food because we learned from the previous trip to get in line early. Sunset was awesome (is anywhere in Key West) and the Music and party atmosphere was fun. Another bad element (other than not enough life jackets) is that you will be hounded several times to tip, tip, tip. Don't get me wrong, I tip well when I've had extra special treatment, but being constantly hounded to give money makes you feel like you are at a carnival and street vendors are constantly hounding you for money. read more

We took the jet ski tour from the N. Roosevelt location. I've been on jet skis a few times before so I'm certainly a bit of a novice but have some experience. A few others in our tour group were clearly people who had never ridden them before. The people running this location were in a word, rude. Guess it comes with doing the same thing over and over day in and day out, but they treated you as a necessary evil and certainly don't make you feel comfortable or wanted. You get a roughly three minute safety lesson on the operation of the jet ski, if it was even that long. And the advice that the faster you go, the easier it is to handle. Okay, everybody in the pool. The water was very choppy on the Atlantic side, and that's true it WAS that day, so they kept us to the gulf side of the island only. Our guide was a good guy, but basically the guides on these tours go flat out full throttle at all times. Problem is that people who have never ridden before or who are unaccustomed to the balancing and steering of these things in choppy water take a while to sort it out. To say that it was a bit of a harrowing experience at times in the early going was absolutely an understatement. I felt VERY badly for a woman with us who had her son on the back of the ski, and a few others who had never been on one before. Riding solo on those things is much easier but adusting to a passenger - going 40 miles per hour over waves and wakes - and having someone holding on to you while you're trying to hold on to the jet ski takes some getting used to. The guide goes out so far ahead of everyone that if something WAS to happen to one of the people at the back of the pack, he wouldn't know anyways. This tour ABSOLUTELY needs to have a second guide following up the crowd, to ensure everyone's safety. I'm shocked at how nonchalant they were about these types of issues. It took a full two minutes at some points for everyone to catch up to the group. Also, overheard at the dock was that "we don't bring anyone back". So if you get out there and someone has a hysterical panic attack they're out there for 90 minutes. Again, not good customer service - and a second guide could at least maybe help someone who was really in distress. Anyways, the tour was fine, I love riding the skis, and when the water was calmer in spots it was a ton of fun to go flat out as fast as you could. I would do it again but I'm not going to lie, Fury will be getting my business in the future. I'm not Key West rookie and I'm not going to be treated like a pain in the rear tourist by anyone, not when I'm spending hundreds of dollars there. read more

Our trip to Key West last week was amazing, and Sunset Watersports had much to do with this. We utilized their services for both a jetski tour around the island and also a parasailing trip. Their staff in both cases were always informative, friendly and helpful. The jetski tour was great and everyone from our group thoroughly enjoyed it. You get to see all views of the island and make a few stops along the way. Over the course of the 90 minute trip we stopped out at a beautiful sandbar, had an encounter with a huge starfish [sheer coincidence the starfish was there of course] and by the end of our time the other members of my group were all echoing the same sentiment that they'd do the tour all over again in a heartbeat. On the last full day of our trip I finally fulfilled my bucket list item of parasailing and made a reservation for their 10am run. My boyfriend has a fear of heights and didn't want to go with me, but for a small $10 riders fee he was still able to join in for the ride out on the boat. The two crew members [one of which was the son of the owner] were wonderful and made the trip an enjoyable experience for everyone. We were able to see a lot of the island and surrounding area which personally I enjoyed more than just staying in one spot for the entire time. We chose this company because my boyfriend, who has been frequenting Key West since 2002 has done all of the watersports companies and this one stands out to him as the best. So when he was looking to book the "do it all water sports excursion", Sunset was the way to go! We booked our trip at the Smather's Beach location - the salesman, Kenny was cute and quirky a typical Conch mentality!! The day of the trip - check in was easy, the staff was super friendly and it was well organized. We had an awesome time on the boat, we really enjoyed the amt. of jetskiing we were able to get in!! The lunch was nice - from the trip starting at 10 and ending at 4, you really need a break!! Those orchestrating the water sports were all about safety, which we appreciated. They all took the time to get to know us and have fun with us as well. The entire time we were really impressed by the professionalism. The last hour is fun because it is complimentary wine and beer and it is a great way to unwind. As a bonus there are two photographers on board the entire time. In the beginning of the trip, we were to pick a team name(we went with the Mojitos!) and at the end you can purchase a disk of photos of your "Team" activities. There are about 120 pics on our disk and they are hysterical. They literally get great shots of you doing really funny things like going down the slide, banana boat, riding a kayak, jet ski, parasailing, etc etc etc. The disk is $40.00 and is worth it!!! We also enjoyed the sunset cruise that was included with our package. Great music and amazing views!! Make sure you don't miss this experience during your stay!! read more

We did the parasailing tour and it was amazing. We were lucky enough to be the only group who booked the 10:00 am tour, so the lovely crew let us stay in the air for a longer period of time. The captains were extremely nice, funny, and very good at their job. They let us dip our toes into the ocean and took amazing pictures of the whole experience. We had a great view of the islands. Dinner Cruise.. I have to say, wanting to go to a dinner cruise and night excursion at the same time, not what's expected... We patiently waited in the hot sun to board at 6:15pm and it was to set sail at 6:30 pm; not enough time to sit and get acclimated. While waiting in the hot sun, there were mists of rain, so made it even more unpleasant being sticky and wet. Finally, we were able to board, barely getting a place to seat ourselves, instructed to go on the top deck. As soon as I stepped in my shoes immediately got wet. This was not caused by the mist. It was dry enough to at least attempt to clean, but nothing was prepped or done. The wet floors could have been brushed off. It was like everyone got in late or something... Soon as the ship took off; hot, wet and sweaty on the top deck there was someone who literally would walk up to people and tell them dinner was ready whenever they wanted to eat. It was buffet style so understood, but very strange as the boat had a very overly loudspeaker system throughout the ship whenever they needed to announce something. We went to the first level of the ship, where dinner was served. It was enclosed... Immediately, I knew I was in for a very uncomfortable experience. AC was not working so it was even more hot and sweaty at the lower level then it was at the top. Thankfully, we had one of the servers who decided the smartest thing would to do was the open doors and both sides so the air flow through. About two minutes later, one of the crew members came in and closed them all. Two of the four units we not working. So, trying to think with an optimistic perspective, I walked towards the buffet setup with aluminum serving trays. Mind you, the food was supposed to be authentic Cuban Buffet. Sadly, the rice was undercooked, the chicken initially wasn't sure what it was and the black beans came from cans, and it seemed the plantains were previously frozen since one of them were still cold in center. By the way, the lower level never got cooler... So after a sweaty hot experience at the lower level buffet everyone was at the top deck. It was cooler and smarter to be there, though with the drinks included in the package, everyone was happily toasted. Entertained by a single acoustic player, the music arrangement was good at times and sometimes the singing off-key, which hearing the entertainers voice, it just seemed like he needed a little more practice because he had a nice voice and good tunes. Overall, if you're looking for a nighttime basic dinner full-on party ship with unlimited drinks and entertainment, but less concerned about food quality and comfort, this is where you want to be. On a separate point. The ship has a lot of potential. I think people need to get there earlier, prep, practice and make sure everything works and people are seated comfortably before setting sail. Needless to say I'm sure a handful of people had a good time and I'm very happy for them. Personally, this is my review and I hope the captain and staff do not take this personal as people were friendly. It just needs some polishing, pride and real authentic Cuban food. read more

This review is for the dinner cruise- 2 hours long. Plan on standing up the entire time because there is only seating for about 20 people on upper deck, the rest stood up the entire trip except when eating at the galley. The eating area was a bit warm. The crew was pretty young but gave excellent service. They were very helpful and fill your drinks when eating at galley. Food was good, mash potatoes, rice, black beans, sweet glaze chicken, fry fish, that look like fish batter sticks, pull pork-was delicious, pasta salad, bread and mix vegetables. Entertainment is a one man band. He was good but I couldn't get passed all of us standing up. If your looking for a formal dinner cruise, this is not it. The free drinks were ok. Only 2 choices of beer on draft. They also had well drinks and couple cocktails. I gave them 3 stars because the galley was warm and the limited seating, seemed like more people stood up than sat down for the trip. Not recommended for people with disabilities, especially when the boat is in motion. With $10 coupon, we paid $59 per person. read more

We went on a snorkeling cruise 7/13 afternoon and the most amazing time! The skipper and crew really made the experience special! Skipper put up the sails on the way out! What a treat! Very organized and you felt very safe as the crew kept a vigilant eye on the snorkelers. Exciting trip back with rain storm, then sunshine and a special appearance of dolphins. Sadly it sounds as though your experience depends greatly on your crew. We had nothing but good experiences! All of the crew we encountered seemed friendly, and the crew members we had for our excursions were great. We did the 2 stop snorkel trip first. Kai was super friendly and helpful. It was really choppy when we went out and many, including myself, got sick. He was very kind and attentive to everyone, from us seasick folk to the people having fun in the water. He was great with first timers and made you feel completely capable. We saw lots of fish, a huge barracuda, and dolphins. Despite getting sick, I still had a great time and would go again on a day the water isn't so rough. We went on a jetski tour which was amazing and totally worth the price. It was a blast. Highlight of our trip!! We also rented paddle boards and kayaks one day. Made for a great afternoon. I think the really important thing before going on any of these adventures is to know yourself. The people complaining here seem to be the same type who were at the back of the pack and maybe not so adventurous as others in the group. Took the 28 mile jet ski tour. My young step daughter had never been on one. Conner was the lead man and he was extremely knowledgeable and patient. After Conner was confident that she was ready...off we all went. It didn't take long and she was driving Wave runner like a pro at speeds of over 50mph. 2 negatives...wear glasses to protect your eyes from the stinging saltwater and wind...also, the sea was choppy from 15 to 20 mph winds that made for a rough ride on parts of our trip.
