After church service on Easter Sunday the family wanted Chinese for dinner. We looked around and decided on this place. We called 10 to 15 minutes beforehand and when we arrived everything was ready. Cashier was nice and we got our food within a minute. When we finally got to eat we didn't expect much except for some overly salty and spicy pad Thai and orange chicken. We were very surprised as we ordered a spice level of 1 and it was the Perfect amount of spice and tanginess. The pad Thai was deeply rich in flavor and was absolutely delicious. The kids loved it. We ordered the basil shrimp fried rice which was just as flavorful. We think we could've handled a spice level of 2. This was the first time we have completely devoured Asian takeout in one sitting. This is my go-to whenever I'm craving Chinese food. My husband always gets the Szechuan chicken and he says it's consistently good, and I've tried a couple different dishes from here and they've all been good as well. I only discovered this place during the pandemic so I don't know what their portions are like when you dine in, but for delivery they pack their containers very generously so we always have leftovers for the next day, which is great! Apparently I am on a quest to find the best Chinese food in Suwanee.. The woman who took my order (in person) was very professional and helpful. The restaurant, and it's very outdated tacky decor, had three people dining in. There was a male waiter who seemed to be very attentive. Back to the decor, I didn't like anything in the restaurant including the mirrored wall. Made everything uncomfortable. The huge tv was a nice bonus. I ordered sesame chicken with wonton soup. The chicken was a little squishy probably because it took me ten minutes to get home (will not fault Sunshine for this), I usually don't do fried rice, but it was pretty tasteful. We have been getting take-out from Sunshine for several years. We probably average one visit every 3 - 4 months. They have some booths and tables, but it is not a really big space, so we always opt for take-out. Sunshine offers standard American-ized Chinese dishes, plus (in the last couple of years) a few Thai dishes also. Of the area Chinese places we have tried, Sunshine is one of the better ones. I don't think their Thai dishes measure up to local places that are just straight Thai restaurants, but neither are Sunshine's Thai dishes bad. If you want fairly typical Chinese dishes and aren't going for anything too exotic, this is a good choice. I am struggling a bit with the rating, and if there was a 3.5 I'd go with that. I do not recall ever having a bad experience with Sunshine, though. read more

I ate here three times in the past month and all experiences were different with the food. But it is good overall and I will continue to go back. Just know your first experience might be off. We love the Thai dishes here and the Sunshine salad is always good. I came here with kids the last time and the kids meals were liked by the little ones. It is a great place for families. The owners are very accommodating. Last time I was here though my husband ordered the masaman chicken dish and did not like it at all. He is now hesitant on returning but the meal before was one of his all time favorites. It is small, casual, and fresh. Try this restaurant if you are in the area. Had chinese and Thai dishes. The Chinese dishes had great flavors. The dishes came out piping hot! We had both the coconut soup and hot n sour. The hot n sour was one the best I've had in a while. Coconut was ok, a little too brothy for me, however the flavor was great. We had Kung Poa Chicken which was just as expected, nice and nutty with a perfect spice. I ordered delivery from Sunshine 2 nights ago for the first time and it was literally the best Chinese food I've had in a really long time. I ordered simple and had chicken fried rice, General Tso's chicken(spicy) and added some plain lo mein for $2 extra. The portions were huge and the chicken wasn't flooded with unwanted water chestnuts or those mini corn on the cobs. 90% Chicken and 100% deliciousness and mouth watering! However, Delivery took about 2.5 hours, but I believe that was Grub Hubs fault. Next time I'll try ordering from the restaurant itself instead of online. This is a small 'hole in the wall' type of restaurant that I typically would not have stopped at, because I'm a firm believer in 1 style restaurants. What this means is that a restaurant should MASTER one cuisine...not try to do multiple types of cuisines. This is a 'Chinese & Thai' restaurant, which looks more like a Chinese takeout restaurant, however I drive by this location so often, and I decided to give it a whirl. Since I'm not a real fan of 'take out Chinese food', I went for the Thai option. Whenever I eat Thai food, I order 2 dishes. "Drunken noodles", also known as pad kee Mao. In addition, I order a vegetable Spring roll. The look: The restaurant had a unique set up. It did look like a typical takeout food restaurant, however they did have some seats around. A few booths, and a larger table in the middle. What I really liked was that you can see the chefs cooking the food, as they were shown behind a glass window. The decor was bland, but nevertheless, it was a better than expected look for me. The prices: The price for the drunken noodle dish was pretty on par with similar restaurants of the same meal. It was $9.95 for the dish (I took it to go), and $2.95 for 2 vegetable spring rolls. The Food: The meal came in a very small 'to-go' box, however it was very well packed in. While most other restaurants provide you with one of those typical 'black Tupperware with the white tops', with it barely touching the top, this was a lesser version of that but it was well packed into it that it seemed like that they were trying to get every square centimeter of space in it. The drunken noodles is usually a spicy food, however after my last experience of eating this dish, I decided not to opt in for additional hot sauce. The dish held its own and had a good kick of spice. It was not overpowering of any flavors. Had some great fresh basil in it, and even had a surprise ingredient (ginger). The scallions were fresh and not withered, and the chicken was very moist and fresh tasting. (Not all the same size, looked like real chicken). The noodles were cooked perfect and there wasn't an overabundance of oil (as this dish usually has). The vegetable spring rolls were good, however they were overly fried. (Probably premade, fried, then when needed, they would re-fry them as a need to reheat them). They were dripping of oil, so I had to dampen them out before eating them Overall, I think this is my new favorite Thai restaurant, even though I would take it out only. My next test there would be to see how they make their Pad Thai. As I've learned...never judge a name by their skillset. Even though they state that they are "Chinese and Thai", and all the workers there were Chinese. They certainly made the Thai food very well. Kudos to them read more

This is our favorite, close to home, comfort food Chinese. We pick up or have delivered and they are awesome. The soups, fried rice, and lo mein are norms for our family. Their egg foo young, sesame chicken, and other assorted dishes are too much to name. For a small community restaurant their menu items and prices are just right. It is a little after five so we are the first patrons in the restaurant. Now usually ambiance is an issue but this time it was not because I am making it all about the food The restaurant is very small, so if you like intimacy, you will enjoy eating here. The table was clean and the seating comfortable . Now on to the food. My husband ordered Pad Thai and I ordered chicken and veggies in a white sauce. I was totally pleased with my meal because everything was well prepared and perfectly seasoned, (veggies not overcooked, nice and crisp). I don't usually eat white rice and didn't even notice it until my husband pointed it out half way through the meal. It was a very generous serving and I gladly shared it with my husband. It was actually very nice and added balance to the dish. My husband's dish was good, but not spicy enough for him. The manager, Johnny was nice enough to come over and introduce himself and explain the various levels of "heat" that can be requested. So next time he will be able to order with the appropriate level of spice. Our fortune cookie was the perfect ending to our meal. It was light, crisp and delicious. Yes, the water is good. Since we only drink water, it matters to us, we have to be able to drink the water. It was clean, clear, cold and refreshing. Finally, service was just as good as the meal, very attentive. My wife and I visited the restaurant for the first time yesterday and we both wholeheartedly agree that it will be the very last time we have anything to do with that place. The food tasted awful (rubbery chicken out of a can), vegetables completely raw (not even partially sautéed), and the fried rice was super starchy and sticky. I've been past this place numerous times and finally decided to check it out. Sunshine Chinese is located in a strip mall at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial and Suwanee Dam road . The place is not very big but is kept clean. As usual I'm visiting for lunch and trying dishes from their lunch menu. Items are served with your choice of fried rice , spring roll or chicken wing ,and soup . I decided to order the house special fried rice with wonton soup and spring roll . The dish overall was what i expected nothing super special but a bit on the greasy side for fried rice. I'm giving this place 4 stars because it does the basics well. My boyfriend and I were in area this past weekend around lunchtime and after discovering to my dismay that our favorite Chinese place was closed for lunch, we decided to try Sunshine Chinese just down the road. Sunshine Chinese Restaurant is your typical American-Chinese place in Suwanee. It occupies a little storefront in a strip mall along with nail salons, a pub, Waffle House, etc. and is just as typically virtually unnoticeable from the outside. Inside the little space are a variety of booths and tables, and they have the lunch special menu (a mix of Thai and Chinese dishes) as well as regular dinner-sized entrees. My boyfriend and I both had lunch specials which come with a cup of soup, an egg roll and fried rice. I got the spicy chicken and mixed veggies with wonton soup, he had the Mongolian beef with egg drop soup. And each of these lunch deals is only $6 - it's a crazy good deal. The soups both came out steaming hot with a bowl of those crispy noodles to drop in to them. They were fine. And the main dishes came out not long after the soup. For a lunch portion - this was certainly plenty - two scoops of fried rice, little egg roll and a generous helping of each of our entrees. My chicken and veggies had sauteed chicken with broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, peppers and onions in a brown, mildly spicy sauce. My boyfriend's Mongolian beef had the beef, scallions, rice noodles and plenty of sweet sauce to mix in to the rice. We both finished off our dishes, but just barely and the fortune cookie that came with the bill was just the right finish to lunch. While this wasn't the best Chinese I've ever had (and I still have my previous favorites), Sunshine Chinese was definitely good in a pinch, and all the extra goodies that come with lunch orders definitely make up for many shortcomings. read more
