Yes, the fact that they record their conversations is red flag #1. When after they installed my gutter system, my backyard faucet didn't work. I watered my garden the night before. I thought their guys may have broke my faucet but luckily the water was just turned off in a different spot and I had to bring over a guy to help me troubleshoot the problem since Tamir at Sunshine completely denied any responsibility and was so unfriendly. Even when she called to collect my money, I told her that the guys didn't turn my water back on after shutting it off (no big deal), she STILL continued to deny they even did that. Also, the workers used a blower (instead of manually removing the shards of metal and nails, some 3 inches long) to clean up their work after the install. I have since found 4-5 nails on the ground. I met the project manager in-person and explained the custom gutter I was asking for. I showed him an example and gave him a drawing. He said they could do it. Great! Then Sunshine strung me along for a month during the rainy season, took my deposit, and then ... they said they cannot make the gutter! This came after I explained in person and sent 4 emails with photos and drawings setting out my request for a custom gutter. This was a very bad customer experience and I recommend not using Sunshine. If you can't make a custom gutter just say that at the beginning! Sunshine Gutters is the best company for installing or fixing gutters. The estimates are free. I have had Sunshine install gutters in the past and they work great. Today Fred came by from Sunshine because there was water dripping from one of my old gutters that came with the house. I figured they would replace the gutter. However, Fred figured out that the gutter was working fine, and the water was sneaking under the flashing on the edge of the roof, and that I needed a roofer to fix it with more tar and gravel. Not as promised! The $715 "professional" gutter cleaning involved two guys standing on our roof running our garden hose for 15 minutes -- and nothing else. This is despite my specific request for someone to come out and measure/assess the system for gutter guards or replacement gutters. (It takes about 20 minutes of hard rain to back up the system, so we need improvements.) The sales person on the phone promised that would happen, and assured me the cleaning would be worth it because it's so much more than homeowners can do themselves. Totally untrue. When I complained that we never got any information about gutter guards or other work, and said that $715 was too high for 15 minutes of work, they jump right to sending you to collections. I would not recommend this company. It was easy to get an invoice from them and really difficult to get information about the work that was done. The company sent their team out to clean the gutters without setting the date or time with me. This happened 2 times. Then when I called and asked them to share a report with me about the test that was done on the gutters, I didn't hear back from them until about a month later when they wanted to get paid. Then I spoke with a manager who didn't think that this was a problem and said that they do not provide a report when there is no problems with the gutter. WHAT? Then she also didn't think it was an issue that the team came to my property without my permission. All in all, not a good experience. There are so many other places to choose. Front office Carol was quite responsive and estimator came out within a couple of days. But I didn't get their written estimate until 10 days later and it was also over70% more than what he thought it would cost. He tried to nickel and dime me and padded the estimate by including every nuts and bolts at inflated costs to justify the higher number. Also required a deposit before work and I saw some reviews that said after paying the deposit, the reviewers had difficult time scheduling the work. Sunshine Gutters came to do a yearly cleaning of my gutters on a mid size, 2 story duplex, and detached garage. It was my first time employing them. I will not use them again. I was told that the cleaning would take 2 hours. They were gone in 30 minutes before I had time to get to the property. I am not sure what they did in such a short amount of time, but I got charged $335 for the visit which seems extremely high to me, based on my experience with other gutter cleaners in previous years. read more

(I have a wide roof overhang; the downspouts need to angle in quite a ways before going vertical.) We've had Sunshine Gutters come out for routine cleaning twice (a year apart), and everything was always great. It was easy to make a convenient appointment, and the technicians who came out to do the actual work were terrific. On the second visit (just a couple months ago), one of the guys even identified some problems we'd been having which they could fix, eliminating a water drainage issue we'd been experiencing for quite a while and which had been puzzling us. I really appreciated his expertise and advice, and I felt that the fixes he recommended would actually help to prevent property damage that could have lowered the value of our house. If I'd written this review at that point, based on those first two experiences, I would definitely have given the company 5 stars. Unfortunately, when I was recently trying to make an appointment to have the recommended repairs done, I experienced repeated problems dealing with the front office, such that I felt that my schedule and convenience were not respected. Twice, the woman making the appointments simply assigned me appointments with no regard to the requests I'd made for convenient days. My husband and I both ended up quite angry. When the workers arrived, we once again really liked their work, but the office woman had left a bad taste in my mouth. Since our previous experiences were so positive, I'm not giving a rating based only on our recent frustrations. I'm not sure, however, that we will choose to deal with their appointment-making process again, regardless of how good the work itself is. Note: The day after my initial (much worse) review was posted to Yelp!, the owner of Sunshine Gutters phoned me and tried very hard for about half an hour to convince me to give them a better review. First the good news. I got the fancy new gutter shields that are supposed to mean you never have to clean the gutters again. So far so good on that! The large redwood trees around the house mean one literally should clean the gutters before each rainfall (not that I did, but the previous owners did). I'm pleased with how the new shields have performed in the recent rains. Also on the positive, the owner was very prompt and responsive on the several issues I had. He was out here quickly and made sure the issues were resolved. So know that you can have confidence in that if you hire Sunshine. Okay, so why only 3 stars? Because the workers themselves were sloppy. They took down the old gutters and carried them off--the big pieces, that is. For weeks after the job, I was still finding and picking up small sharp metal shards, nails, and other items strewn around the area. I've hired many workers for different construction projects, but never encountered any who left such a mess. Also, they jammed the gutter up against a roof tile so the tile was sticking out at an angle. Again, just sloppy. Fortunately the tile didn't break. As I mentioned, they did come back to fix that and one or two other things. But with so many 5 star reviews, I would expect a more perfect job. The supervisor could have taken a look to see the job had been completed correctly, rather than waiting for me to send photos from my phone the next day showing the issues. read more

I'm giving Sunshine Gutters my coveted five stars because I can't think of single negative thing about the entire gutter cleaning experience. Based on Yelp reviews (I called another place that was highly recommended by Yelpers, but they never called me back even after I talked to the guy and left my name and phone number), I called Sunshine Gutters and after I gave them my address, they asked me for the square footage of my house and looked at the house on Google Maps and Earth. They immediately provided me with a contract by e-mail (the contract said they carry workers compensation insurance for their employees) and I gave them the go-ahead. They gave me what I thought was a fair price (I've used another gutter cleaning service for many years, but they were too busy for the next month) and came over that very afternoon. They cleaned out my gutters and cleaned up after themselves. I paid with a check in the mail with a Yelp coupon. It was that simple. read more

$650 to change the bottom ends of 4 downspouts and seal 2 small gutter corner seam leaks??!! REALLY!!?? I got quotes of $900 to completely replace all gutters and downspouts with new. You be the judge of how outrageous that is. Also spent time trying to point out other gutter issues (not real issues mind you) and clearly wanted to sell me on gutter cleaning service too. Hey Sunshine, not every bid can be a home run. Mix in some singles here and there and that may lead to home runs in the future. Response to your Comment below for clarity: My "steel" downspout work was NOT due to a poor installation as you state. I had drainage work done after those downspouts were installed and the bottom angles were ripped apart to fit into the drainpipes. Remember?? THAT'S why I called you (I couldn't remember the name of the company I used before or I would have called them too) so surprised you are using the 'poor installation' and 'get what you pay for' defenses here -- Convenient though. It shouldn't take a professional more than 2 hours to do this work and I don't know anybody that makes $325 /hr. Maybe a hedge fund manager? Oh yeah, you would need about a 6' piece of standard steel downspout and some sealant, screws, and rivets so there's that... Alternatively, you could have quoted me for 4 steel pre-fab 1.5" offsets (which I ended up buying all for $65 retail) that simply need to be riveted or screwed on. Another suggestion... If you are sealing a specific seam, simply clean the area around that seam not the entire gutter. This will save you a lot of time you can pass on as savings to the customer that simply wants the seam sealed NOT the gutters completely cleaned. I'm no expert though but makes sense to me. Nice to see you are quickly responding here but would have been nicer to at least attempt to explain your bid when you called and get the feedback from me then. As for the up-sell comment I made above, fine, but that's not my big issue just simply an annoyance when I'm trying to get a bid for specific work and compounded when the bid comes back totally ridiculous and a complete waste of my time which I needed to make special arrangements to be there for. read more

During the last rainstorm, a large amount of water was over flowing from my gutters over the garage. I've never used a gutter cleaning service, so I went to the yellow pages....found Sunshine Gutters and proceeded to Yelp. It was then that I noticed all the great reviews. I scheduled an appointment last Monday to have gutters cleaned even though I would be at work. Several nights later I noticed that the gutters were not addressed and the following morning I called Erin who stated that there was a scheduling error. The company sent out a worker right away to correct the error. Delfino arrived and immediately went to work explaining what maintenance he was going to perform. He continued to work diligently for what seemed like hours on all the gutters. He also refused refreshment and a break. This is one hard working employee with a huge amount of knowledge of the trade. In wrapping up, during the walk around, Delfino notified me that the main culprit for the over flowing drain was a bat mitten birdie clogging the downspout. My wife and I had hit that up the roof a few years back :-( In closing, Sunshine Gutters provided an awesome service with very knowledge employees. Delfino....you're the best at what you do! After 25 years being in my house, I decided to give it a checkup. One of the problems I discovered was my gutter system--It's showing signs of old age with rusted spots. After researching on the web and talking to my friends, I went to Angie List and ServiceMagic to look for a vendor to replace my galvanized gutter with an aluminum system. After a few bids coming in and reviewing each vendor's credential and customer's feedback, I decided to go with Sunshine Gutters--not for the least expensive bid but for the value I received for my money. My experience with the price, the front office, the workers and the project leader was all positive. I can't think of one thing that would take away one star from my rating. I don't remember the office person name, but she was knowledgeable about gutters and was pleasant to talk to. Nir was the project leader and my main contact. He was very prompt replying to my initial inquiry and very responsive and flexible to my questions/requests during the project. The crew was very professional. They came with all the right workers and equipment--including a roofer, special ladders, an aluminum gutter machine. They took down the old gutters (I could see all the rust and was glad that I made the decision to replace the entire system). They hauled it away and replaced it with a beautify aluminum system. (BTW, with the high roof, one bid required a separate roofer which I did not want to deal with and rejected it immediately). Nir came by to my house to measure and gave the estimate. He also stopped by during installation to make sure I was happy. His crew was high quality. They did a good job and left with no mess after giving me a walk through. We had the first big rain fall of the year with 4" of water. Nir sent me an e-Mail to check in. I was happy to tell him that the gutter did its job. My moms property was in need of some gutters I called Sunshine Gutters because they were 4 plus stars, they did a great job with the gutters but the part that made me upset was they charged me an extra 500 dollars for dry rot work that they were going to complete and they are not a roofing company, they did not explain about the dry rot information well enough for me to understand and it just looks like they put two pieces of wood together for five hundred dollars, when I called to ask about the extra charge for the dry rot work the young man stated that he was going out of the country and they would get back with me once they got back I never received a call, after they completed the job they did not walk the property with me to show me the work that was completed, I also found one more dry rot problem very disappointed. After reading your response I put you down to 1 star after the work was completed your workers did not want to show me the work because when they did rot work they had someone come with two pieces of wood just put them up in about 5 minutes for an extra 500 dollars are you kidding me, I was going to recommend you to a neigbor but she came by and showed her what you charged an extra 500 dollars for and I got her someone else who did and excellent job. All the information that you are giving me now should have been given to me on the day the work was completed my neighbor let me know how long it took your worker to put up the two boards your responses are falling upon deaf ears, your company is very unprofessional and I will spread the information by word of mouth throughout the whole neigborhood give it a rest. I did notify you by phone you even called the guy that worked on the home we were on a 3 way call and something happened to one of his family members and you guys said you would call back once he returned I never received a call back so with that my review shows how unprofessional the job was so I will not be responding to any more of what you think happened since you were not there, but I hope this review makes customers aware of your of your business practices and and they stay away. At first I was nervous; I had a rather sever leak that affected 4 rooms of my house and it took a while for Sunshine to call me back and then even longer to get on their schedule. But when they arrived my worries were completely assuaged. They were fast and good and - get this - CHEERFUL. They totally knew what they were talking about and communicated with me with every move they made. They finished my job in under two days and on budget. Incompetent. The facts: HERE IS WHAT I WROTE TO THEM - "I am very dissatisfied with the service. You will recall that Sunshine Gutters cleaned and inspected my gutters and "made sure all downspouts were flowing properly" on 12/22/14. During the next rainstorm on 2/8/14 (just over a month later), the same gutter overflowed again. Now I am being billed for the same work again and told that two downspouts were clogged? Understand that this is the first issue I've had with the gutters in the 2 years I've lived here. Something doesn't square. Beyond the double work, I'm also dissatisfied with the quality of the work. Apparently, the technician must have swept off the roof itself. I came home to a bathroom filled with dirt and roofing debris that came in through an open skylight. There is also dirt and roofing debris on our deck and the perimeter of the house. I'm into the cleanup for an hour this morning and that was just the bathroom. Finally, the technician suggested that two other downspouts are leaking and need to be replaced. Not sure how this was missed in December. Am I missing something?" HERE IS THEIR REPLY - "I have spoken to the lead technician who was at your house yesterday. The 2 downspouts that we unclogged are the same 2 downspouts that are cracked. They are located front left of house. Your current downspouts are 2" round and because of the size of the downspouts it is very easy for them to get clogged in a short period of time. For installation of 2(50 feet) pre-painted 30 white 2x3 aluminum downspouts the price will be $700. Normally the price would be $820, but we took off $120 since debris went into your bathroom through the open skylight. When we were there on 12/22/14 cleaning the gutters we had mentioned in the invoice that 1(20 foot) downspout needed to be replaced. We replaced that downspout for you on 1/23/15. And when we cleaned the gutters yesterday 2/23/15 we recommend to replace another 2 more downspouts. read more

A little over one year after the installation and the gutters have performed very well. They relocated a few of the downspouts during the process which was a definite improvement over the original layout. The gutter guard along the back portion of the house has also done its job.
