My friend and I were staying in downtown San Diego, heading back home and just wanting a simple diner breakfast that wasn't going to cost an arm and a leg. I searched the area on our route and that's how we landed here. Nothing fancy, we got a parking spot right in front. We sat on the patio. Yazmin was out server. She was very nice and attentive. We ordered a Coffee, Bacon Cheese Omelette with a side of Pancakes and an Egg and Bacon plate with a side of Hash Browns. The coffee kept flowing by Yazmin and then again it should at $4.55 a small cup. The food arrived hot. The omelette was not a traditional style but my friend said it tasted good along with the pancakes. My eggs were good but I will tell you the bacon was AMAZING! Hash browns could of used some flavor. This place is GREAT! The parking situation is tight, but there is plenty of street parking - You just have to step around the homeless folks. The food was REALLY good. We all got something different. One person got poached eggs with their meal. The server commented that the eggs looked hard, so asked my friend to check. They were and the server had them replaced immediately! If you're looking for a home style breakfast this is your place. The food is delicious but it just doesn't feel quite right paying so much for such a basic breakfast. We ordered corned hash, a 5 piece order of silver dollar pancakes, 2 regular coffees and sausage and eggs. The total was 51 dollars (not including taxes). The food was really good. That's why I rated it so high. $4.75 for a regular coffee is criminal though. Parking is shared with a church so get ready to park somewhere within a block. A friend recommended this restaurant so we decided to try it and are glad we did. We got there as soon as they opened, 7 AM. Our server was very friendly and sweet. Hubs and I both ordered the Sunshine Omelette. Our Son ordered Sausage & Scrambled Eggs. You have a choice of 3 Pancakes, Toast or Hash Browns. Hubs got the Hash Browns, Son & I got Pancakes. We all had coffee. We didn't have to wait long to get our food. I'm sure it helped that we were the first ones there. Everything was so delicious! Omelettes are big, fluffy and flavorful. The prices are a bit expensive, especially given what they're serving (mostly pancakes or baked omelets). The food itself is alright, sometimes leaning towards too salty or too sour - which is an odd taste for an omelet, honestly. I don't think I would come back again. Definitely loses a star for food only being alright and another star for the price being on the more expensive side. They offer a check-in on Yelp incentive to get free hot chocolate or coffee. The servers were very friendly and were patient with us, which is a plus. They also hang drawings on the wall which gives the place a very homey vibe. However, you don't come to a restaurant for specifically either of these things, so I can't say those are incentives enough to bring the review back up. read more

Came here on the weekend since they open early (0700) that's what got this place it's second star. Third star was for there nice spin on their omelets. Side of bacon came out room Temp and most likely from yesterday. Prices are not too bad for the food, but close to $5 for a cup of joe seems a tad steep. We're the only people there from start to finish and really didn't get the best service considering it was just us. Decent size space and parking seems okay. When you check in with Yelp, you can get free hot chocolate or coffee! Hidden gem? Maybe!! They are obviously known for their pancakes, hence their name. Their batter is homemade as well as their syrup. It's little watery than store bough syrup but it was still great. Pancakes were good and fluffy enough. They also advertised highly on their baked omelettes which takes 20-30 mins to bake maybe longer when it's busy. We've got the vegetables omelettes and baked or no baked, it tasted the same. Okay folks, before I review the great restaurant. I want to let you know something. This restaurant preferred that you pay with cash rather than credit card. Yes, they do take all cards, but this is to lower the higher fees set to smaller businesses Now on to the review. This was my first time here. Wow was I happy I did come. I was referred by a family member. I had the sunshine omelette. Now just to let you know. They bake their omelettes. So they do take about 15 min or so to make. This omelette has a nice soft, yet crisp outside to it. Very fluffy inside, and filled with sausage and ham. I recommend the peppers jack cheese. The Eggs Benedict, the eggs were cooked perfectly. The sauce was fresh. The Gluten Free Waffle, they were fluffy goodness. The blueberries were extra charge, at $2.50. That is a little pricey, but worth it. Adding the whipped cream, whipped butter, and blueberry syrup. Made it even better. Corn Beef Hash, was pretty good. I would like more meat and less potatoes. But that because I don't really eat potatoes. Hash Browns, was nice and crispy. You will need to add your own salt and pepper. They come pretty bland. Coffee, was made fresh and hot. What you all been waiting for, SERVICE. The service here is outstanding. They are fast and attentive. Your water and coffee is always topped off. Any question, is answered by your server, or a fellow server. They keep the place clean and friendly. I would come back 100%. I recommend coming very early, or 12pm. This is such a cozy little spot for a hearty American breakfast. There are lots of sweet older folk and you can instantly feel a diner vibe (which I love). I saw on yelp that you can combine the bacon and pecan waffles so I did and it was a great combination of sweet and savory! Excellent food and service with very little if any wait time for a table. The downside is that it's not a fancy place- the ambiance is that of, well, a pancake house. My husband had the pumpkin spice pancakes. He was torn between that and the baked pear pancakes. But learning that the pumpkin version was seasonal, he chose that one and loved them. I ordered the three egg breakfast with sausage and a side of blueberry pancakes. Very much enjoyed those. Since the server learned that it was our first time here she brought us a sample of the crêpes. One Nutella and one strawberry. They were outstanding and perhaps my favorite of what I tried.
