Really wonderful diner. It's family owned and you'll get the best service here. The waitress kept my coffee always full. And it's a busy place but lots of seating. Got the banana pancakes and thought they were huge and fluffy. Came out quickly. Not much for parking so just be prepared to circle for awhile.

Added the sign because if we would've know we would've brought cash... it makes sense! Awesome food and the service was the kind I like, attentive, cordial, homey and welcoming... we went around 11 am today, forgot to take the servers name (we sat "outside") and they left us wanting to come back for sure!

Mimosa flight...sorry I already started on it lol

I have to make a quick update bc it's been a while. The corned beef hash omelette is still phenomenal. Best pancakes around. The OJ is fresh squeezed. You get actual real maple syrup. All with super friendly service in a cozy grandmas dining room kind of vibe. Oh also mimosas and Bloody Mary's.

Sunshine Pancake House located in La Mesa. I only noticed street parking for this venue. Large restaurant that would have no problem hosting large parties. Clean establishment and good customer service. We ordered: Corn beef hash and eggs - delish, large enough for two people or one hungry person Berry waffle - waffle was cooked to perfection! Definitely recommend ordering. Orange juice - tasted freshly squeezed but wasn't very sweet Hot cocoa - delish, it did not taste watered down at all. If in the area, definitely give this location a try for delicious breakfast brunch choices!

This is a great local breakfast spot. When you go inside, it feels like you walked into someone's house rather than a restaurant. The food was good and tastes home made. The service was alright, no complaints.

Huge portions. We come back for the orange juice and whipped cream. Service is always pleasant. Solid breakfast place.

Great breakfast! The buttermilk pancakes are a great texture and flavor. The eggs cooked well to order. The green chili omelet was ok, but wouldn't order it again. Wasn't a fan (not enough addins and unsure aboit the baked omelet). Loved the Crispy bacon. Even the strawberry jam for the toast was very tasty. Saw a Dutch pancake - next time for sure!

I've driven past this place a zillion times, and finally made my way in to try it out for breakfast. The orange juice was great-very fresh! I ordered the strawberry crepes and they were good. Not the best I've ever had, but they were good. My dad ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and said they were pretty good too. The service was just okay.

Charming with tasty food - clearly a fun staple in the neighborhood for years, and hopefully more years to come. I love pancakes and relish just how many different varieties they have. Really enjoyed the chocolate chip pancakes today! And very much appreciate the bottomless hot chocolate, a personal favorite of mine anywhere.

Service was pretty good, coffee was tasty, but the food was insanely overpriced and very mid. I still can't believe they're charging $17 for a single waffle with some strawberries with no meat side. Every other restaurant I have ever been to for breakfast would include a side of bacon or sausage with a waffle. And the sausage scramble with ground sausage was really bizarre. Zoom in on that picture. Were the eggs powdered? Why are they little pellets like the ground sausage? It tasted ok but looked really unappetizing, like the whole thing was curdled. We won't be back.

    Checking this place out.

The food was great! They offered a lot of food for a reasonable price. Great service, food and atmosphere. Highly recommend.

I think it would've been better with hot honey and syrup on the side? - Again these pancakes are THICK and flavor was "meh" so you prolly won't even finish them all and you might need to ask for extra syrup (like myself) I honestly think the chicken and French toast would've been a better option and I might ask for that accommodation next time if I order the same thing (I prolly won't, I like to try new tings hehe). Overall pretty restaurant with great natural Lighting but it still needs to prove itself in the flavor department.

This particular location is a stylish, full-service restaurant. And, overall, the restaurant prices itself on its modern take on breakfast, brunch and dinner. Some of their go to items are Eggs in Purgatory, the Smoked Salmon Toast, the Stuffed French Toast and their mimosas, which change regularly (and you can get the bottomless mimosas for $25). I am a super fan of their potatoes, Eggs Benedict options and gently cooked eggs. The ambiance is cozy and cool, and even though it gets very busy, it doesn't feel crammed or overwhelming. I appreciate the attentiveness and thoughtfulness of the team here. They appear to have planned comfort over everything, because even the tables are crammed next to one another too close that you can hear your neighbor breathing. Plus, the space is bright and open with a clean and modern feel. I love that the large windows let in plenty of natural light and, when it is cooler out, a lovely breeze. Given the food, ambiance and service, it really is a perfect spot for brunch. Other food options include (and are sometimes on rotation): roasted salmon, duck tacos, short ribs, burgers and wood-fired pizzas. They also serve wine, beer and craft cocktails. They also have lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options.

We were seated outside, 5mins later I was trying to ask for a table change from 1 corner to the other due to the sun. I went to get back in line at the host stand, but the family before me asked for the corner table& I feel like because we were there first, my issue should've been addressed 1st, esp when the mother of the family was making faces and making a big deal. I mentioned to the host another table left in the same area, she said she'll clear it, problem solved. Just off to a horrible 1st impression on a little issue, and that was just at the face of the initial interaction. *The host did come over and apologize about whatever feelings she thought I had still though* I had the chilaquiles, it was good, it just wasn't AMAZING. I swear I read on the menu it said fresh tortilla strips.. unless I read that on another menu. Everything else seemed like basic breakfast/lunch. It was something new to try& we tried it.

I definitely want to get it again in the future. The burrito was so good as well. I was not too fond of the agave syrup drizzle as I don't like mixing sweet and savory, but if that's your thing, go for it! Eventually I only had room for the filling, so that was nice and savory. The cafe de olla was delicious as well. I REALLY commend this restaurant for not using AI graphics. The signs and menu looked like they were designed by a real designer. Great job! My only complaint was that the table next to us had an iPad kid with loud volume. I feel that restaurants should impose policies of not letting personal devices be so loud as to not bother other patrons.

The host was very nice and personable so we didn't mind waiting at all. The decor/ambiance was nice throughout. Sadly we got seated at one of the bar height tables on the patio that had EXTREMELY uncomfortable tall metal chairs that had an unusual tilt to the seats leaning down towards the back (all 3 people in our party were super uncomfortable and left with horrible back back and numb legs). So just a tip, make sure you request to sit at a normal height table, they seemed fine in comparison as far as we observed. On a positive note, our waitress was very friendly and attentive, unfortunately we were not able to change tables when we asked but we understood because they were so busy. We were determined to make the best of it though because we were all really looking forward to the food and drinks after reading so many good reviews. We all ordered different specialty drinks which were fine, a little to syrupy and overly sweet for our taste but I could see how some might like that, the presentation was seriously lacking compared to the photos on their website though, again we just chalked this up to them being busy so no big deal, just a bummer because we wanted to cute tasty drinks for our ladies night out. The biggest bummer though was the food... We ordered everything our waitress recommended, so perhaps the kitchen was just having an off night because they were so busy.. It did take well over an hour to get served after ordering, but we are troopers and wouldn't have minded waiting so long if the chairs hadn't been so uncomfortable. But we were seriously disappointed with every dish, everything was "fine and edible" but lacked any real flavor. These are the dishes we had: Appetizer - Tabla de Antojitos (presentation was okay) platter included: Chicken barbacoa empanadas (very bland) Sweet potato, caramelized onion & chipotle taquitos (flavorless and used regular potato not sweet potato) Mini queso fundido (was literally just cheese and beans with no chorizo or seasoning at all) Bacon wrapped jalapenos (these were okay, just nothing special) Entrees - Enchiladas Marisco Suiza - Presentation was good, it was a pretty dish thanks to the sauce and looked promising, but unfortunately the food was very bland, seriously lacking in the flavor department. Birria de la Abuela - Presentation was lacking it looked like someone just threw the food on the plate, and it was edible but not good. Crispy Carnitas - This we all agreed was the most edible thing we got. Presentation was lacking, but the beans and carnitas had good flavor and was cooked just right. It still wasn't "great", but it was better than everything else we had ordered. Overall we were pleased with the staff we encountered during our visit all very friendly, but very disappointed in the food. We left in agreement that we could've spent a fraction of the cost at just about any of our local friendly taco shops for the same or similar dishes and had much better tasting food.
