Super Burrito is THE place to get a huge delicious burrito here in Reno. The drive thru is very quick and efficient, and they always pack you with all the right amounts of utensils and napkins. The salsa verde is seriously legit! It has a bit of a kick to it, but I could seriously drink it straight from the cups if given the opportunity. They don't charge you if you ask for extra sides of the salsa either. The chicken super burrito is a classic, but I just discovered the... Get ready for it... Chile Relleno burrito. It's a cheesy packed chile pepper stuffed inside a tortilla with cheese topped with ranchero sauce. I may need to get a gym membership after discovering this burrito because I have had an unhealthy obsession with it since my discovery. Dammit Reno Yelp Reviewers! We use Yelp all the time in new places and generally it pays off. That was not the case in Reno (except for Bibo Coffee). I was in the mood for some good (not expecting great) Mexican food in Reno and decided to try Super Burrito based on the Yelp reviews. I ordered a chicken super burrito and it was almost as bad as Taco Bell. What the hell?! The tortilla wasn't anything special, they didn't put anything in mine - super skimpy, some of the chicken was inedible, it was utterly tasteless and the salsa bar was as bland as the burrito. There is nothing super about this place and don't go here. Don't believe the hype and don't go to Reno either because it is a horrible place. It could be a great place with Lake Tahoe just over the mountains, but the casinos and the trashy people they attract make it less than desirable. read more

No doubt, SB can't compete with some of its more gourmet peers - but it's not a gourmet restaurant. It's fast food. And insofar as its ranked competitively with other contenders in its weight class, it doesn't pull punches - especially if you know your way around the menu. The food doesn't have to be greasy or unhealthy. E.g., I get the egg white special: it's cheap and comes with a bunch of avocado. Think of that: "comes with..." The classier - notice the comparative not cardinal form - dudes (Chipotle et al) save their avo for royalty; SB serves it to us plebes on the DL. Granted, the restaurant isn't notably clean or savvy - but you know that going in. You shouldn't be shocked to discover they haven't taken design tips from Campo in downtown. I've never been to this place but I've eaten a lot of their food because our company orders from here. I had the pastor burrito and the chicken tostada just recently. We've also had a larger catering with chicken and carne asada with all the fixings. If I had to describe the food, the food would just be ok. Right off I need to admit that my current favorite Mexican food place in Reno is Baja Fresh, which is admittedly is not true Mexican food. Actually tasted like it had been boiled in water. There was some cheese and beans and a tiny bit of green, which I am asumming was the guac, but again, no taste. So I loaded up with salsa and pico de gallo. Their salsas do seem to be homemade and the reds were Ok, but Ay Caramba, there was no cilantro in the pico de gallo! This is just wrong. Instead there were bits of pepper and I think...zucchini? Very strange and not appetizing. I had a taco too, again disappointing. All you need to do to make me happy with a taco is to put some decent meat in it, but this taco was filled with some dismal pork. No, it wasn't disgusting or anything, it was just, *sigh* bland. On the bright side, the service was fast and friendly and the interior was colorful and clean, with some nice artwork. No outside tables, but from a couple of the inside ones there was a great view of one of those amazing Reno sunsets. I'm currently visiting a friend in Reno and she said something about me mentioning wanting Mexican. For 4.75 the Super Burrito is fairly sizable ... but I already knew what was up when the only choices of meat were "beef, chicken and pork." Sure sign that the burrito is going to barely be above microwave quality and that held true here. Bland lowest-quality refried beans and rice, some guac and cheese, something that could have possibly been pork, I'll have to take their word for it. They have tacos, tostadas and dinner plates, but with the same limited selection and probably the same cheapo ingredients ... I feel like I've seen all I need to see here. Salsa is great but sometimes too watery. Fish wraps are very good but not real stuffed. Still cruchy with the right white sauce and salsa fresca. Rice is flavorful though chicken broth might be added?. Nachos decent good micro shredded cheese blend, but they do put in microwave. They have pickled carrots. Large menu for a taco type shop. I asked the manager on duty what changed about their nacho cheese since it didn't always seem like orange dish water. She became very defensive and became sarcastic about not meeting my expectations. Being the Queen of the drive - thru we went through this past Sunday....... There was only 1 car in front of us, so our wait time was quick and painless. The lady at the window was nice and friendly. I really love their easy to read, easy to understand, simple menu. Its just really plain - basically it has the short list for burritos - short list for tacos - then a short list of other items as well as drinks. For some reason the simplicity of it really appealed to me. I love having choices but not being bombarded by a 20X20 foot menu!! So I ordered SUPER nachos, a SOPE and a large Coke. My friend ordered a SUPER chicken burrito......... He said his burrito was of course HUGE and filling - but that the chicken didnt have any flavor - it was just plain cooked and stuffed in the burrito, and that there was very little cheese. So if you like lots of gooey cheese request extra! My Super Nachos -$7.00 - was enough to easily feed 3-4 people - no kidding. It was loaded with every kind of topping you can imagine - the only downfall to this is I was unable to eat it and nachos - just cannot be saved for leftovers - unless you like soggy chips! I was really impressed with the BIG chunks of steak, the good guacamole, and refried beans were great. This was my first time trying a sope - it was good but I'm not used to the thick flour shell its made on - it kind of seemed like a thick flour waffle, with taco filling on top. It was good though, I'd defiantly eat another one! $18.00 for 2 people isn't bad for the amount of food. But unless your REALLY hungry or plan to share - the SUPER NACHOS are way too much for one person! The only downfall I can report is the LARGE soda cup is not cup holder friendly, and the "homemade" hot sauce they gave us was way to runny and not very good. I went on a Friday around 1 pm, thinking I'd miss the lunch rush, but when I got there, the drive-in line was really long and if I had gotten into it, I would've been blocking the road, so I went inside to order my burrito to go. I stuck with the classic super burrito with shredded beef, wet. This is a ton of food and comes with a bag of tortilla chips. I got a small container of both the hot and mild salsas. The online menu is misleading - it says you can get asada on your burrito but that's not one of the options on the menu inside. Also, when you make it wet, you should get an option of ranchero or enchilada sauce and then it gets topped with cheese and sour cream. However, the sauce on mine was more of a REALLY mild, really light colored, and really thick enchilada sauce (and I wasn't asked if I wanted enchilada or ranchero). I don't really feel like it added anything to the burrito except that it made it wet... I tried to spice up my burrito (since it was kind of bland even with the sauce) by using the hot salsa, but that doesn't pack a lot of punch. I was really disappointed in the mild salsa which has no heat at all. I think I've ruined myself by eating way to much really spicy food because anything mildly spicy is now really bland to me. There's really nothing wrong with the burritos, all the ingredients were there and equally dispersed throughout the tortilla. It's quick and decently priced. But, I'm still on the search for an AMAZING burrito in Reno/Sparks. In the mean time, Super Burrito will do (I'll just remember to add hot sauce next time). read more

Awful, just Awful. First, we only received part of our order which can happen but we were at the drive thru at an open window. I called to her MANY times with no response. Then my son blew the horn several times with no response. Then he got out of the car and walked up to the open window and called to her. Finally, she came over. Should be re-named Slighlty Below Average Burrito. I was hoping for more from this place. No carne asada, carnitas or other of the most tasty meats. The refried beans in my burrito made me think of Taco Bell. The pico de gallo was greyish but tasty, and the spicy carrots were mushy. I also saw a syringe on the sidewalk outside. Great casual to-go Mexican place. Their burritos are the best, you definitely get your money's worth! The pick de gallo is very fresh along with other ingredients used there. Quick order turnaround and clean, the owner is friendly and works behind the counter herself at times. You can tell she takes pride in her buisness. Super Burrito also has RN&R's with other magazine/ newspaper resources which is handy when I'm there for a quick bite and would like to see what's going on locally.
