Meh. I was hoping for a little more than what I got. Restaurant is super outdated. Service was normal for a Chinese buffet place. Everything was fully stocked and seemed fresh. General tso was crispy but watery. Definitely not a gravy and more like a sauce/soup combo. Everything I tried wasn't what you'd normally expect out of a Chinese buffet. I included photos of the bathroom which was SOOOO nasty I couldn't use it and felt like I'd get E.Coli just standing in there. The disabled toilet had a sewage backup or something and the pipe was filled with something I wasn't going to stay and look at. Of all places for an accident to happen that's the worst. Oh WOW!! Man have we missed this place! Everything is back in it's usual spot and even better than remembered. The lomein is firm but done all way through and the perfect thickness. The fried rice is that good yellow rice with just the right amount of veggies and isn't too soft. General Tsos here has always been my favorite and I think it was better than ever. The crab Rangoon...not too sweet, plenty of crab, and so crispy. Chicken on a stick with those charred edges and juicy insides is a wonderful combo. They have always had great peanut chicken and tonight it was hot and fresh. Just amazing. The black pepper chicken and shrimp have that sweet crispy edge with a pepper kick in the back. This post is for all you Chinese Buffet fans! Honestly, I am not a fan of buffets but I was out voted by a class of 14, and honestly, it was good. Again, there were 14 in our party and we were greeted by a very pleasant host who pointed out to us that the coupon we had would cost us more then the actual lunch buffet without the coupon I appreciated such honestly! The buffet had a wide variety to choose from. I chose the vegetable lo mein with extra vegetables . I added some general tso sauce to it, and I must say it was very good! The people I went with ate variety of different items from sweet and sour chicken to beef and vegetables. The cold bar offered a salad bar and various fruits . The servers were around frequently to take your plate. The reason for my 4 star review was that the food to me was not very hot especially for a buffet style restaurant and the ambiance was dark, but that may be preference. read more

We eat here regularly, so you know it must be good! Unless you see the french fries, or the "onion rings" come out fresh, you might want to try one before you take a serving... these two items cool off quickly and get soft instead of crunchy. (Give the egg roll a tap with the tongs to see if they are crisp as well.) Other than these cautionary checks, their food is wonderful! One other person mentioned that the Sesame chicken and the General Tso's chicken taste the same. I did see them pour the same sauce into both of these pans. Actually, the last time I tried the General Tso's chicken, it finally had a bit of chemical-heat to it, thanks to the spices, which had been very, very mild up to that point. I hope they keep up the extra tasty version. I am a fan of cucumber, so I usually try the tempura version, and the Beef Pepper steak, which has sauteed cucumbers in it - and they are marvelous! They haven't had chocolate ice cream for the last few weeks, but I have to admit that the vanilla is always frozen nicely, and has plenty of flavor. If you want to try a new taste sensation, take a ladle of the wonderful wonton soup stock (with or without the actual wonton,) and add some of the shrimp with peas and carrots. (Also take a spare soup bowl and cover your other bowl to keep it hot for the whole meal!) read more

I'm not sure if I'm just coming at the right time or my standards for Chinese food just aren't that high. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. I almost feel sad about their bad reviews...except about the bathrooms. They could really use some updating and regular checking. I'm a chicken-aholic so I love the fact that they have peanut chicken, jalapeno chicken, pepper chicken, mushroom chicken, general tso's chicken, sesame chicken, chicken on a stick, and more chicken that I am sure I'm forgetting. I almost feel like Bubba Gump with their chicken! Other dishes that are pretty good are there dumplings, fried shrimp, and spring rolls. They do have a wider selection but I am pretty picky and usually stick to mostly chicken. The dessert bar is what you would find at any Chinese restaurant with dry cakes and the bananas and strawberries glaze. The stop is usually friendly enough and will come around and pick up your dishes after they're pretty stacked. Call it 2.5 stars. The sign on the building, and their business cards say just "China Buffet", but the phone listing is still in the name of "Super China Buffet". Ambience and cleanliness was a just a tad below my expectations. Men's room was clean, but needed some remodeling. Back in the dining area, my table top was wiped down, but still had a sticky film on it. Price for dinner: $7.95 including soft-drink and tax. Inexpensive buffets have been having poor quality food lately, but this place is definitely within the "met expectations" category. I would not want to go here in between lunch and dinner, but as long as you go during the main meal hours, you'll get fresh food. I'd say it's a little bit better than the average "Super China Buffet." (Which I know, isn't saying all that much.) Very extensive selections, but all within the standards. Some lettuce, cucumber slices, marinated tomatoes, onions, and green peppers. Cold shrimp. Cold creamy fruit salad. Cold (fake) crab salad. Bananas in red sauce. Red jello. Soft serve frozen custard machine. Vanilla wafers in pudding, plus a few more standard cheap pastry dessert items. Three steam tables, each of which are double-sided, so there are lots of selections, all of which are pretty much standards. Items with pork are marked PORK on the label, including the egg rolls, and the stuffed mushrooms. Some chicken dishes were kind of rubbery, but overall acceptable. Sauce, while fresh, was still "gunk sauce" that doesn't sit well for long. That's why you have to go during the peak meal hours to get fresh food. Two different kinds of shrimp in the steam trays, plus the cheesy seafood dish, plus a fresh vegetable and seafood (shrimp and fake crab) dish which I liked. The brocolli in the various dishes containing brocoli was fresh. Grilled chicken on a stick. Fried Rice. White rice. Won ton soup. Much more that I don't remember. Lots of families among the clientele this evening (a Friday), and the children were well-behaved. Not a place to impress boss/wife/gf/inlaws. It's good for a family value meal or a cheap date if you like Chinese food, but it's not gourmet. I went here just to rate it. Given a choice of where to go, for this neighborhood, I'd actually go to Asian Spice, just a few blocks up on Emerson. Or if I had to have Chinese and didn't have to have a buffet, I'd go across the street to Bamboo House to order off the menu. read more

My dining companion and I both got incredibly sick after we ate here. This buffet is above average for most Chinese buffets. The dinner includes fried shrimp and a type of shrimp scampi. The lunch is the same without the shrimp. The egg and spring rolls are sub-par but the Crab Rangoon is great. They offer broccoli chicken, pepper chicken, beef and green peppers, sweet and sour chicken, BBQ beef, mushrooms, General Tzo's, sesame chicken, teriyaki chicken, garlic green beans, and an ice cream machine. Drinks are included in the price. The bathrooms are in bad shape but the rest of the restaurant is OK.
