My wife and I have shopped at Super King for years. Just this past Sunday we had a checker by the name of MELANIE that did NOTHING to help bag our groceries . My wife is blind so she couldn't help bag. I bagged the groceries my self and STILL, Melanie would not help. As I was bagging my groceries MELANIE was pushing aside my groceries and checking in the customer behind us. Ever since all the Armenian employees have left Super King, the customer service at the check out line has died. I'm very sceptical about going there again! read more

I am so lucky to have this super market up the road from my house. It changed ownership a few times which has kept me away until now. This is the best and most diverse super market I have ever been to. It puts Whole Foods to shame. The prices are substantially cheaper than anywhere else. The variety of fruits and veggies is amazing. It is definitely an ethnic grocery store, but what ethnicity? Middle Eastern, Mexican, Filipino, Chinese? They have everything here!! The deli is a world all it's own. My boyfriend comes for the insanely cheap black forest ham and I, the olives. Reasonable deals aside, I have never waited long standing in line. Whoever the store manager is must value customer service because there are plenty of cashiers and each one has a bagger. Where I see most grocery stores downsizing on staff, they seem to be employing more people than necessary. I love it! read more

Expect to spend at least 30 minutes if you want to find parking, grab one item, stand in line, and get out of the parking lot. Everything here is a steal! The only problem is that some of the produce is not ripe. For examples, if you are going to make guacamole that DAY, you cannot buy the cheap 30 cent avocados and use them that day. They might take 5 days to ripen. So remember, grab a cart and don't be afraid to shove your way through those aisles! read more

This is a unique place. Worth checking out. The deli counter is impressive. They have cold cuts you have never even heard of. There is fancy bacon from across the globe. You can spend some $$$ on high end caviar and the like. My personal favorite: German bologna. The bakery is good too. Fruit torts are done right, and you have to be a fan of fruit torts to know what I am talking about. Butcher counter is big and has quite the selection. Prices are good. Doing your own Korean BBQ?, check out the ribs!. Fresh produce. The liquor section will catch your attention. They have some very high end booze at a competitive price. I think they try to compete directly with Vendome Liquor and Mission Liquor, not that far away. Here is where I ding them one star; The wait time at the deli and/or meat counter can bring you to tears. They either do not have enough people working there, or the ones on duty will take their sweet time helping customers. Too much chit chat with their co-workers. When I arrived to purchase, I was told sorry its for the 24 pack 7 oz bottles, "just a mistake in the flyer"!! Pretty sad when they wont stand behind their advertised pricing! I love Super King Markets however I don't always buy what I'm looking for here and parking sucks (reason for the subtraction of a star). Parking 99% of the time is a nightmare. There are some exceptions like going super early to avoid the traffic build up of midday/afternoon. The parking lot is shared with a few other businesses (Panda Express, Verizon, Tacos Ensenada) which is also a result of nightmare parking. Meat quality in my preference is better at Stater Bros (BUT SK also has great meats if you don't want to make 2 different trips just Stater Bros is my favorite), regular items like frozen food/cereal etc. most of the time is cheaper at Food 4 Less however their produce section is one of the best. They sell quality produce at a stellar price. This market also sells unique items from all over the world, so 9 times out of 10 they'll have what you're looking for if it's uncommon to regular markets. Their bakery section is also amazing (including the staff!) I went in about 2 weeks ago around 8:30pm and they were out of the specific bread I was looking for. The baker said if I don't mind waiting he'll bake some up fresh and he did, only took about 15 minutes. Great service UPDATE: Bakery closed forever. One of the main reasons I would drive up here (second reason their fresh fruits/vegetables are the best). I still will continue to occasionally come for fruits and vegetables but that's about it. After reviewing my receipt I noticed I was overcharged on an item. So I called the store and spoke to Jahaviel. He was very helpful on the phone and understood that being overcharged is a big inconvenience. He said just come in the next time you come in to shop and bring in the item and mention my name and we'll take care of it. Went in today and explained my situation with "Mary" who first of all did not want to listen to me, than didn't believe me and questioned it. I asked to speak to Jahaviel but she ignored me. Finally after a few minutes with a lot of hesitation she gave me credit for the overcharge. After the credit card gets credited she walks away without apologizing and nose in the air as if I inconvenienced her and taken too much of her time. She should know that it was the cashier who overcharged me and it was my time and gas that I had to waste to reconcile this overcharge!! I find the most unique and great produce at Super King all the time. Just today while shopping I bought prickly pears, sunshine raspberries, and a healthy green drink among other groceries for $10. It's incredible that you can spend so little and get so much. I definitely shop for the produce all the time. For other non produce items I go to other markets. To the Dairy department, you'll see the shelves are stocked with various products from around the world. I think that's why I really like Super King Market. It caters to so many different cultures. I can't say much about this grocery store. But... I drove all the way out here from the South Bay to pick up a Tres Leches cake that I feel is probably the best I've had in LA yet! If you like Tres Leches cake, go here! In my opinion, better than Portos! My coworker brought us a round cake a year ago for us to try for the first time. I ordered a 1/4 sheet for my dad's birthday this past weekend and our guests loved the Tres Leches with dark chocolate cake. My only complaint? this can be a very busy place with long lines so i suggest you visit off-peak hours. parking seems full but there is always a spot available. Wide selection of basmati rice; i recommend the most expensive bag which a smoked basmati about $22 for10 lbs. You dont need to wash it. Also recommend mulberry jam which is super delish. Olive oil quality is meh but they do have organic olive oil every now and then. Sometimes (if its your lucky day) there is a batch of sardines that tastes real fresh; we all know there is no such thing as a fresh canned fish; but here you can get it sometimes and it tastes great and has the cheapest price on the shelf. Sure, it's cheap but quality is definitely lacking. I stop by here time to time because it's so close to my gym. My stomach has never agreed with their "fresh" meats behind the counter and also their seafood (specifically, the ceviche). The quality of their produce isn't really that great either. ALTHOUGH, if you're into juicing and you don't mind diminishing your product, it's fine (kale, beets, etc). Then again, I suggest better quality produce. Ah, Super King Market. Here lies a bargain of good things. So, I've been doing this thing lately. Juicing. Did you know this is kind of a pricey habit? Yeah, it totally is. But, when I need things like carrots, cucumbers, beets, and other produce for a good deal and for pretty good quality, this is clearly the place to go. On a day like today, there was also fresh litchi available. Granted, I didn't get any, but it's definitely cool to know that I'll be able to find more exotic fresh produce at Super King when they get it in. Apricots, peaches and more, beautiful signs of a bountiful summer. Cucumbers at 5 for a $1. Bring your reusable bags, or else be prepared to pay 20cents per plastic bag. The meat section is commendable. The fish section is all right. Basmati Rice is worth the price. And there's a bit more throughout the store. I must admit, I know that a Super King gets bloody crowded, but my first forray into the store on a Saturday afternoon was pretty damn chill! What luck! Parking can be a tight pain. Patrons can be extremely annoying with stopping randomly, parking their carts slant-wise in an aisle and generally losing a bit of intelligence inside of a grocery store, like most grocery store patrons do. Duuudes, this place is pretty freakin' awesome! Their bakery section is amazing! My eyes were filled with hearts when I saw all of the sweets! I only went to one side of the market, but from that, it's worth going back for. A lot of their stuff is sold for cheap..much cheaper than other supermarkets..ESPECIALLY alcohol! At least 5-9 dollars off from regular prices. They aren't those suspicious alcohols either. I got some of their homemade guacamole and some delicious garlic pita chips..perfecto. The only thing I didn't like about this place..is that they don't have a 15 items or less line. 5 stars for the produce alone!! The produce section in this store in unbelievable! It's HUGE and they carry lots of different varieties of fruits and veggies, even things you don't always see like fresh ginger root, sweet lemons and more. My dad is a vegan and this is his go-to produce spot and now I see why. Best of all it's fresh and you can't beat the prices here either.
