In this instance, unlike the ex's chili, I won. A tender golden sponge is pinwheeled with vanilla pastry cream, and the result is simple and simply delicious. I stopped here after work for some dinner takeout to try a new place and change it up from my regular places. The place is in a strip mall and very small with takeout and delivery with C19 at my visit. The menu is large and I did my usual, get a combination if they have them so the beef and mushroom with chicken fried rice that comes with an egg roll sounded good. My food was ready in 15 minutes and I was on my way. The egg roll was the stupid tiny kind that most places serve now, I want the full size egg rolls that I had from years past. The egg roll was fairly disappointing, mushy on the inside like frozen and didn't satisfy my egg roll crave at all. The chicken fried rice was the greasy/oily/soft kind that was bland and had .05 ratio of chicken to rice but it did have some onions, carrots and peas in it. The beef and mushrooms was just like the rest of the food, bland with no big asian flavors but it did have plenty of beef and mushrooms with tender thin sliced beef. Ugh. Giving one star for the friendly smiles of the kids trying to cook. Several weeks ago i got takeout and it was fabulous! The place was bustling and the Fresh Jade i ordered was a glistening freshly sauteed box of impeccably cooked green veggies. I ordered ahead today and was a little disconcerted to walk in to see several very young kids with no headwear or aprons cooking looking liike they didnt know how to handle a wok. And all were causasian. What happened to the asian chefs expertly mastering the woks? It looked like the kids went into the kitchen to heat up pizza puffs. The fresh jade was terrible - the brocoli old with visibly yellowed crowns. I had also ordered egg drop wonton soup - gloppy yellow tasteless broth with gross gummy wontons. Where were the tasty delicious home-made dumplings from my last visit? I had paid ahead and if i could have gotten my money back would have cancelled the order. Grubhub had misleading reviews. It wasn't the worst Chinese I've ever had but the stars are deducted for cheap fillers. I ordered beef with broccoli, Kung pow chicken, and shrimp with cashews. There were about 5 pieces of shrimp, maybe 5 cashews, and a lot of celery and zucchini. Other places it's all shrimp and cashews in a sauce. The Kung pow chicken also had A LOT of celery. Cheap filler. Beef with broccoli sauce was delicious but the amount of broccoli definitely outweighed the beef. I continued to get food here because they *had great vegetarian meat substitutes. We've continued to have issues with long delivery times (at least an hour and half to two hours), but for the most part it has been consistent with the exception of there subpar customer service. They never seem to care that the food is taking forever or that they've forgotten things in the bag. Tonight I order the same dish as always and it was chewy, overcooked, and rancid tasting. I called and they passed the phone between three different people before telling me they'd credit my account. I asked that instead they bring me new food because I was hungry, they agreed. They brought the EXACT same rancid, overcooked, inedible crap. I'm not even that picky, clearly - if I consistently eat delivery chinese food, but this was BAD. They didn't even taste it before sending new food! A massive waste of $15, and my time. I will never order from them again, which is too bad.. because I'm clearly addicted to vegetarian Chinese food and they were making a ridiculous amount of money off of us. Prices are noticeably higher since the last time I was there. But I guess that's pretty much the same for all restaurants nowadays. Charged an additional $1 for the privilege of using a credit card. Chicken wings were not particularly big, and I had one with feathers attached (How does one not notice that?). Egg rolls are rather small. Beef was quite tender for a cheap cut, but with little flavor. Scallops where baby scallops, and I mean baby. Not a particularly good value for the money. Next time I'll keep driving. read more

I may have found a new spot for Chinese delivery! On a recent 100 and whatever degree day in Oak Creek, I had no desire whatsoever to cook, so I decided to try a new option that a friend suggested. I am very happy I followed his advice. The House Special Soup was amazing. Sort of an "everything but the kitchen sink" Soup, it had Won tons, beef, chicken, pork and tons of vegetables. It was definitely a meal in itself. Beef in Garlic Sauce had a great, garlicky brown sauce, perfectly cooked veggies and lots of tender sliced beef. An order of Egg Rolls (2 rolls)were fried crispy, but not at all greasy. Delivery was quick and friendly. read more

Was a night in for delivery and was exciting about trying some new Chinese. We placed our order with some old reliable favorites, fried chicken, general tso, chicken fried rice and egg rolls. The lady taking our order was not an native English speaking woman and there was a sound of difficulty and confusion and later in the night it was obvious. The order was placed a little after 7:30 and it was ridiculous how long it took for our food to arrive. We decided to call at about an hour wait and the lady immediately said it was on its way. We waited more. By about 915p we began calling again in which the phone was consistently off the hook and/or ringing non stop with no answer. By about 930, it was frustrating and upsetting. Next we decided to head toward the restaurant to check up on this in person. The food arrived at about 10:15 with no explanation at all. I understand when things are backed up and busy but this was unacceptable for any restaurant. Worse thing of all is the food was terrible. Tasted like canned food and bottled sauces. Outstanding. No meat is a "mystery", nor does anything taste overly greasy like a lot of Chinese delivery places we have tried on the South Side. We had vegetable rolls, pork love mein, Hunan chicken, and sweet&sour pork. All tasty business. Definitely recommend this place....so far, so DELICIOUS. Bayview finally has Chinese delivery that is (barely) edible. Menu has all of the usual suspects, and online ordering to boot. Nowhere close to the stuff you'll find on the east side, but light years ahead of the other options in Bayview. Every time I've ordered delivery it has relatively quick, with one exception where it took over an hour and a half. I called to complain, and a few days later a $10 coupon arrived in the mail. The pan fried dumplings were tasty, but the szechuan sauce that comes with it kind of brings it down a notch. The spring rolls were good and the fried rice was okay. There is a very big selection and they have a lot of coupons. Overall, I would probably not go here regularly. We order from here every other month or so. The food has always been good, delivery is great the people have always been nice, polite and on time. I've never experienced a problem. Since the pandemic we stopped ordering delivery and eating out mostly due to the possibility of financial problems. So yesterday we ordered from Super No 1 for the first time since February. I didn't have a problem with ordering or delivery. It was the food; it was NOT terrible we still ate it and are alive to talk about it lol. I guess I'm disappointed in the quality or flavor of the food and the quantity. I understand that a lot of restaurants took a huge hit financially and cuts have to be made in order to survive but I'm not sure if I'll order from here again. The food arrived piping hot: crab rangoon, shrimp and veggie egg rolls, shrimp fried rice and beef fried rice. The rangoon looked like pot stickers and tasted too greasy maybe sat in oil to long? The vegetable egg rolls were small and underdone on the inside also greasy. The shrimp egg rolls were also really small but there were no other complaints. The beef fried rice was missing the beef (not really but it was hard to find or taste) and I had asked for 2 more eggs be added and they were not. Portion size again was small. As for the shrimp fried rice well let's just say the shrimp were few! I want to give Super No 1 a pass but seriously just about everything we ordered was messed up in some way or another. I wanted to give 2 stars....but this is the first time in 2 years I've had a legit complaint with the food from them. read more

I have ordered from here several times and today was probably my worst experience yet. The fried items which included eggrolls the crab Rangoon all tasted like old grease. I've ordered from here a couple of times and the Kung Pao Shrimp is pretty good but the wontons are simply awful. I tried them twice, the first time they were undercooked and bland, the second time they were overcooked and burnt and still bland (what I tried to eat anyway) so I strongly recommend not ordering them. The Crab Rangoon was excellent, however, and that pretty much saved the meal. All in all, okay for a quick fix if you want delivery, but there are better places for Chinese food. read more

I feel guilty writing this review, only because the last 10 times I've ordered in from home, it has been exclusively with Super No 1. As a result, I see it as an obligation to put forth an honest review on something that could possibly give me a heart attack sometime in the near future. So let's call Super No 1 a beautiful mistake. Often compared with the likes of Chopstix, Super No 1 is known for its super delicious and greasy Chinese-American cuisine. The closest Asian restaurant to my home (aside from Pho 27), I strictly see it as an alternative to the regular unhealthy food I can force myself to eat once a week. Only, Super No 1 is good and slowly burning a hole in my pocket. What I think may distinguish Sup No 1 from other notable joints can come down to several things: 1) Crab Rangoons - A lot sweeter tasting than other places. I've suffered from dealing with the usual bitter and overdone crab rangoon, but this is different and best served HOT. Tastes much better. 2) Fried rice - Nothing makes me more happy picking through my dinner plate of shrimp lo mein and rice to find bits of steamed chicken. Yummy! 3) Their Singapore Chow Mei Fun is disgustingly amazing and I recommend that to anyone and anything. With that said, is their Sweet & Sour Chicken, Kung Po, General Tso, Egg Drop Soup distinct enough to provide a totally unique experience different from anything you've had before? Probably not, but it gets the job done in those moments of severe gluttony. The interior of the place is extremely small and could use a little bit more organization and cleaning. I mostly get food my food delivered, and have had one case of whoever doing so forgetting to bring extra change for bills $20+. We recently received a menu in the mail, and I was interested to see that Super No 1 offers vegetarian "meat." On the next night I didn't feel like cooking we decided to try out an order for delivery. We were told 40 minutes on the phone, but waited more than an hour and a half for the food to arrive, and even called to make sure it was still coming. When the food arrived the General Tso's (nonvegetarian) chicken was described by my husband as OK, decent, as were his steamed dumplings. The vegetarian "meat"on my Szechuan Vegetarian Chicken was disappointing, as it was actually just large chunks of extra firm tofu. What I was expecting was mock meat, not Szechuan Tofu. It pretty much tasted like stir fried tofu as well, not really like vegetarian chicken such as Gardein or Morningstar chikn strips. I asked the delivery driver about it and he told me to call the restaurant, and when I talked to somebody, she told me that is always how they make their veggie meat. The dish itself was OK, but I feel it is a stretch to call chunks of tofu vegetarian chicken. I ate the food and took it as a lesson learned. Just beware that this is not the "vegetarian meat" that you would expect from restaurants in Bay View such as Hue or Honeypie. read more
