The torta was ok. I'm a fan of anything sandwich but all the hype about this place maybe gave me too high of expectations and it fell short. It's a huge sandwich with greasy meat and pre made egg patties. I get it the lines are long and one guy makes ALL the sandwiches so they have to find places to cut corners. Certainly is a treat to watch them make the food but maybe I don't want to see the pre made food get patted down with a paper towel because it's too greasy or how they don't use gloves while touching the food. Also, we asked for no pork but we got it anyways. Despite in my opinion nothing truly to rave about, it is a good pic op for a huge sandwich stuffed with lots of items. I love little family owned spots like this. This is located on central and 41st street in east Los Angeles. Right on the coroner you can't miss it. First time here, and what can I say. AMAZING. I'm not even a huge fan of tortas but this was the best I've had. Definitely only locals know about this. Would highly highly suggest coming here. This place could get swamped on peak hours. This place is amazing!! My BF finally remembered the name of this place and was itching to take me. We stopped by at 9pm on a Thursday night for some bomb tortas. I'm glad we came late because I've heard the wait gets pretty long. The $10 cubana is the way to go if it's your first time. It comes with 10 toppings (basically everything)... this sandwich is HUGE, definitely enough for two meals. The bread is perfectly toasted - crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. The toppings are so good, especially the deep fried beef, and the chipotle sauce. I don't have too much experience with tortas/cubanas, but this one wasn't as greasy as I would imagine it would be. I'm not saying any one sandwich is better than another, but these are the best Tortas north of the border and I've been to Mexico City and it ranks right up there. The real difference is size and construction, but I'll get more into that later. It's not a Mexico City Torta, but it's made in that style hence the distrito federal in the name. Everyone tells you to get the Cubano and it's good, but most of those people have never had a real Cubano in Florida and couldn't tell you what the difference between that and a Medianoche is. I've tried a lot of great sandwiches and part of their glory is simplicity and interplay. The Cubano here is massive, ham, chorizo, egg, 2 cheeses, pork leg, milanesa, avo, mayo, chili, hot dogs and it's probably just over a pound and a half. It's well constructed and isn't messy as long as you leave the wrapper on it while eating, but the egg doesn't add anything, the chorizo doesn't stand out and you totally lose the Cubano aspect of it all together. Now when you consider this without the name it's pretty good, but has way too much going on to compete with famous sandwiches, still very massive with excellent ingredients and well crafted. The telera bread is fresh and I'm sure they are made larger just for them. It's filling and inexpensive and in my opinion one of the best food trailers in all of LA (should easily be mentioned in the same breath as El Chato). When you watch the tortero making them you realize he's got real skill for this stuff. A real specialist. As you watch him make it you may have some regrets on it's size. Not some fat sals type stuffed sandwich these ingredients are more thought out and more complimentary. It's a sight to see new customers come here their reactions while watching him. They've been around for years and are slowly getting acclaim. Call ahead if you can as long as you don't want any crazy customization. They don't speak the greatest English so your order may not be right Don't take off that wrapper or your going to have a hard time containing all that stuff. The wait can be a little long, but start with the Cubano and then try the other menu items named after different countries/regions like Italy, Holland, Hawaii, Argentina, Spain, etc. They all start the same, same roll, same butter, same mayo, the cheese is always standard gooey quesillo and some have additional cheeses. The fried and breaded beef milanesa in the rusa pairs well with all the liquid ingredients or non meat/cheese parts. It's pretty cool someone did a D.F. stype torta only place. It will really open peoples eyes as I found out myself in my visits to Mexico City was that they have an underappreciated food scene that's different from the rest of the country and highly underrepresented here in the states. read more

Pros: Trendy Food Truck, Good customer service, and the quantity of food. Cons: Parking is the worst! Cost: $15 for one torta that can be shared. (Recommended for sharing) Experience: These TORTAS ARE HUGE. When I say huge I should've shared one with my cousin because they cut them in half and I could've had one half and my cousin could've had the other and be stuffed for the rest of the day. Which we were. It can feed 2-3 people. Like it's STUFFED! We got La D.F. and La Chingona but taste wise they had a lot of unnecessary ingredients in the actual torta like sausage links, egg and ham. It wasn't even a torta Cubana and so it was very dry because of a rather large layer of carnitas. Now don't get me wrong I love me large portions but you needed so much salsa for these tortas. The salsas were good but they had such small containers that we only took around 10 which I only got to use 5 and we needed 10 each. YOU NEED THE SALSA to keep to moisture and meat ratio. Watched Eater LA's dining on a dime this week and saw them feature this little cart. OMG halfway through the video I was drooling and having hunger pangs. I then decided that I'm heading down on Friday to try this places out. Best choice I ever made. Holy crap the sandwich was just like the video. Juicy, huge, flavorful, and overly satisfying. But that's the quick description. It's somethings I recommend everyone who loves good sandwiches has to try at least once. I ordered the cubana which by no means is like a Cuban sandwich in the traditional sense. This is on a whole 'nother level. Let's start... If you want to wait an hour for OK tortas, this is your spot! They do not give a sh*t about modifications to their menu. We said no mayo and it still came with mayo. My bf ordered the cubano and thought it was ok. This place is definitely not vegetarian friendly. I ordered the Suiza which did not indicate any meat but had some kind of ham. Hot dogs on top of deep fried pork on top of scrambled egg, salsa, guacamole - you name it, it's in there - some cheese to hold it altogether, in between buttery golden grilled buns. Supposedly Super Tortas in super famous in the area. I can see why--portions are huge, ingredients just continue to stack on top of one another without stopping, and lots of butter and mayo. The locals around us were saying how people wait hours for a torta so we were good to come right at 3:30. For me though, the flavor didn't measure up to all the hype. There are layers of cheese in the torta that I felt like should have been melted thoroughly. It just tasted a bit too cold. Also, the meat could have been piping hot, but the cook was in such a hurry to feed all these hungry folks so I forgive him for working too quickly. Retrieving our order was a bit complicated. It's as if they just memorize your face and know what you order. There's no number or name they get from you. We knew it was our turn when the lady pointed as us to grab our food. So stand close to the truck so you know exactly when your food is ready. Lots of residential street parking around the truck so we opted to take it to-go and eat in our cars. I went on a weekday night with a buddy, there was no line to order, but it did take a good 10-15 minutes before we got our food ( this felt like an eternity when the chef is making it right in front of you) We got a Cubano and rusa, don't get the rusa. Came here one early evening for a torta craving after see a video on facebook about them. It's a stationary food truck location on a small side residential street. The area is a little sketchy. Parking is street so it can be difficult. The menu is right in front but it's in Spanish. So either have a translation app or a translation friend lol They have sandwiches named after countries which is pretty cool. The staff is friendly but bring cash. Cubans are $8 and everything else was $6. Now to the food. The tortas are on the big side. Enough for me to have 2 meals out of it. The quality of the food is superb. I came to Super Tortas on a Friday night around 7:30 P.M. The wait was honestly pretty painful because it just smells so good and it took about an hour! However, we can't exactly judge this place by the wait, since it's so damn popular. Most people have probably seen the LA Eater video about this place, which is the main reason why I decided to visit. This place doesn't disappoint and the video hypes it up, but it meets your expectations. The PORTION The FLAVOR The PRICE This is the best Torta you'll ever taste in your life. I believe this little food truck perfectly demonstrates how amazing LA food can be. No matter how ghetto or rich the neighborhood is, you will find something to satisfy your needs.
