Do not go here for a skin fade. Waited for 45 minutes just for Tanner to tell me they were unable to do a skin fade because they didn't have a blade. I would have had to wait even longer for another employee to do it instead. I left after a massive waste of time. Please make sure you have all the tools to do your job or atleast advertise that you cannot do certain basic hair styles. read more

It was time for a whole hair overhaul, so I made an appointment for a color and cut. I made an appointment and got in really quick. When talking about my desired color (Cherry chocolate) the hair stylist asked for a picture and looked a bit nervous. Deciding the color took a bit and she kept having to stop and consult with another stylist due to nervousness about the color and I have a small patch of gray hair on both sides. Despite this, I appreciated that she had another stylist to consult with if she wasn't that seasoned yet and my hair looked beautiful. The price was much higher than the quote given when I made my appointment, so be mindful of that. Overall, I love my hair and it was cheaper than most stylists read more

There is a time in everyone's life, when they leave school and enter the real world. When you enter the real world, you need to look your best and that means paying for a professional hair cut. Super Cuts can give you that professional hair cut, and cost a bit less than say Sport Clips for the sam quality. I went here on a Saturday, there was maybe a 10 minute wait (less than Sport Clips). I got a good hair cut. The barber also used a warm towel to wipe the back of my neck. I tip my barber. You are paying for a custom job, everyone's needs and hair is different. A tip is a small price to pay to look good. Pros - short wait - affordable price - no need for a reservation. Cons - the parking lot is small, can be a bit of work to get in and out. Not the fault of Super Cuts side note: When you were in college, you let your roommate shave your head to save a few bucks. A GREAT experience this afternoon at the La Mesa Supercuts. I had an urgent need for a haircut today. I was welcomed and taken in on time in a nice, clean, air-conditioned salon. I've never been to Supercuts before and was very apprehensive of them and also Fantastic Sams. Too many complaints re Sams and Supercuts is closer to me so I made my appt. with Supercuts and hoped for the best. I had LAUREN and she was very accomplished and knew exactly what she was doing and what I wanted. I am sooooo pleased with my cut and treatment at this salon and will be back for sure. I received a good haircut from this Supercuts but was shocked when they charged me $20 for a simple haircut without even a shampoo. I pay $10 out the door nearby where I live and I expected this cut here to be a about $12-$15 dollars with a shampoo. Corporate is definitely pushing it charging $20 for a simple men's haircut. Anyways, the prices are not set by the employees at the shop and the lady who cut my hair was very nice and did a good job with my hair. I do look all perdy now so that is a good thing. Her station was clean and the whole store was in good order. Be sure to read the prices before you commit. I hate to say this, but I felt kinda ripped off when I left the store and I still do. I have been going to Mai for a couple of years now for a simple trim. I've never had my hair professionally colored before and always did it myself out of a box. I noticed the gray wasn't covering whatso ever anymore so I asked Mai if she could color it. I was nervous to say the least but the outcome was perfect! Laura has been there for me for a few years. I have super fine hair and not everybody knows how to cut it properly but she does. It takes me a long time to find someone that can handle feather fine hair. It's a skill. If it's cut just a bit too short, the style is ruined. This Supercuts can be a bit hard to find as it's crammed into a little strip mall with a bunch of random stores. It's important to note that the parking lot is very small and street parking sucks in this area. I've been to Supercuts maybe only a handful of times in the last several years. Usually when coming by here the wait sucks and I move onto another place. But my visit here during a Wednesday afternoon proved to be a pleasant experience. I called ahead and made sure they weren't busy and what kind of time frame I could expect. The person answering the phone gave me an exact time and put me down on the list. When arriving at the quoted time, I was taken right back and got my haircut done quickly. The stylist was very talkative, made clearly sure what kind of cut I wanted and provided some pointers on what I should go with. The woman did an excellent job and definitely deserved every bit of tip I had left her. I was surprised to learn that this Supercuts isn't a corporate ran store, but rather a local franchise ran by a man who owns several in the area. Overall it was a quality ran place, was clean and the staff were friendly. I would definitely return again. read more

The salon manager earned this one star. Laura is her name. Yesterday I came in as a walk in to get a haircut, blow out, and waxing services. I was advised that there would be a 30-45 minute wait which I anticipated it being Saturday and I was walking in. I had zero issues waiting. Upon it becoming my turn Laura grabs my ticket and starts seeing the services that I'll be getting done and proceeds to tell me that she won't have time to do the blow out because they have reservations coming in. This caught me a little off guard because I had waited for my turn and I wasn't initially told that this may be a problem. So quickly that became a turn off, but I agreed and said okay that's fine. I get in Laura's chair and I proceed to verbally explain what I'd like as I search for the video that I had saved to provide further clarification. All of sudden she impatiently says with a short and rude tone, "Can you just show me a picture!" Again I was a little caught off guard because I didn't understand why she was being so impatient with me? Then I asked her if she was okay!? She said yes and that she is just trying to be efficient. She told me she was an efficient hair stylist and if you want someone who is going to take their time then maybe I should wait for Edlin her coworker at the time because that's not her. I said, wow okay. So not only did she insult her coworker in front of a customer by essentially calling her slow, she already refused a service that made me feel like even though I'm a paying customer I'm not as important as the reservations that were coming later on? Her rude tone and impatience led me to leave because I was fuming and lost all confidence in the stylists there. This was a huge deal to me because I've worked for Supercuts before and the Bob Jerome franchise. I know what the expectations are. There is an expected balance of efficiency and great customer service. Unfortunately, this salon manager felt that customer service wasn't a priority. I can sympathize with the best because I've been there on those Saturdays before reservations where a thing and you have a wait of over an hour and your clients are visibly upset, but this was not the case. I didn't mind waiting. I was upset leaving because someone made me feel inadequate and less important and less deserving than the other customers and that's truly a shame. To be honest if no stars was a thing I wouldn't even give her that. Shame on you Laura for not being a better example to your stylists. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!! I was just denied a haircut by Mgr Lauren because I asked for my extentions to be cut. Her reasoning was because it's expensive hair in my head to be replaced if it is messed up. I then asked what's the difference with real hair and she stated " well it's OK because it can grow back" DEFINITELY MADE NO SENSE. She then proceeded to look away and not make eye contact with me by a better way of saying there is nothing more to discuss!!! DONT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!!!! This Supercuts is a good one, they aren't as busy as most so the wait times aren't bad. The best part is of course the prices, you can not beat a hair cut under 20 bucks. The cuts are normally great, the stylist may not have the fancy training but most have years and years of experience, which in my mind is better than any school. Just make sure you don't get the new girl and you should be fine. It's great for kids too, a hair cut of 13 and bang trim for only 5 bucks. After growing up with my mom cutting my bangs, not very well sometimes, I can not will myself to even try to do my own daughters. At 5 dollars it's defiantly a luxury I can afford. No 5 stars though, it;s still Supercuts! I will update with the name and review of my stylist next time we get our hair cut. read more

Im giveung this place a 1 star. I would consider a 1.5 because the girl who did my kiddos hair cut was nice and did the job and the place was clean from what I could see. However it's not possible so I'm giving a 1 for my overall experience. I called at 10:40a.m. and spoke to a nice girl named Marissa (who ended up cutting my kiddos hair) about my son getting a haircut. I explained that my son has ASD with sensory issues. He is sensitive to noises and ticklish with using clippers. I let her know he may cry, but that he will sit still and that my husband normally has him sit in his lap to feel safe. The girl said that was ok and that they would be able to cut his hair. I scheduled the appointment for 12:00 p.m. today March 31st. When I arrived at my appointment I was told I would need to wait 15 to 20 minutes for some to be ready. That was irratating since I scheduled the appointment ahead of time. I told the lady at the register (she had long dark brown hair) I was going to grab a coffee across the street and be back in 10 minutes. I get back and see that the women I was told would cut my kiddos hair was done. When she came up to the register I let her know I had an appointment and wanted to show her what kind of cut we were wanting. She looked at me and said, "Ok well you're going to have to wait 10 to 15 minutes. There's someone ahead of you". Confused I said, "I made an appointment and was told to come back and I was next." Another girl came over and said that I was next and had already checked in. The lady that told me I had to wait (redhead named Laura) looked a little irratated and said it will be a minute and went back to her station to clean up. Another stylist named Marissa walked up and said she could help us. I told her the situation and an example of the haircut we wanted. Everything was understood and she started the haircut on my son. He started to cry since the sound of his hair being cut startles him. I apologized to her and others in the salon ( royal of 3 stylist, 1 kid getting her haircut, and 1 other parent in the salon) in advance and mid cut. Halfway into the haircut the redhead named Laura turns to me (while shes doing a little girls hair) and in front of her and her parent says, "Just so you know we don't do haircuts on kids who are crying." I look at her confused and shocked and say, "Ok would you like us to leave?" She says, "No. But we don't do these kind of cuts. If your child is crying we wont cut their hair. We also dont allow the parent to have them sit on their lap during the cut." At this point I'm confused at why she felt the need to say this at this moment in front of others. I tried to hold back my tears and walk out for a couple minutes to compose myself while my husband and kiddo were in the chair. I was so hurt. My child doesnt know what's going on and how to process some noises. I walk back and let the girl know to just do what she can and we will get out of their hair. She was nice and finished up without any complaint or frustration. I just wanted to get out of there since Laura the store manager made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcomed at the salon. After all is done I go to pay and ask for the name of the owner and a phone number. I get the name of the owner of the franchise and when I asked for a phone number the lady Laura chimes in to just give me her manager named Amy's phone number. That was not what I was asking for, but I took it anyways and jotted down the name of the franchise owner. I explained that I did call and got the ok that the haircut could be done and how I didnt see the policy about not cutting kids hair who cry on the website or anywhere else. Laura again chimes in with to tell me again that they dont cut kids hair if they are crying and blah blah. All stuff she already said 2 or 3 times prior and how it's their policy. She was saying it again in front of her customer. This was not only very rude and unprofessional, but was humiliating. I have never in my life had such a bad experience with a haircut salon. I recognize our situation is a bit different, but we are by no means the only family with a special needs child who has sensory processing disorder. I will never ever go back to this place. I urge those who have children with special needs not to go here. If like me you have a little one with SPD or on the specturn with difficulties of being overwhelmed while getting a haircut don't go here. Just dont go here. This woman named Laura was rude (with a stupid smile on her face), not accepting of my childs difference and difficulties, and very unprofessional. There could have been a better way to have handled this versus making it be known to us and others that you don't accept my child or others like him which may cry from the clippers or scissor noises. I had a great experience getting a haircut with Cindy, and I plan to get my next haircut here, too! I've also gotten so many compliments on my new haircut and couldn't be happier. I prefer a faster haircut that doesn't keep me trapped at the salon all day, so I like that both the shampoo and blow-out are optional additions here. With just a quick rinse, my haircut only took half an hour, which is really impressive since I have really thick hair. I asked for bold, short layers -- providing a photo on my phone definitely helped make it easy to know exactly what I wanted. When I ask for short layers at other salons, they're still way too timid, but Cindy totally delivered with a fun and bold haircut. She was extremely communicative every step of the way, and kept confirming with me with how short/long I wanted my hair to be. In the end, I got one of my favorite haircuts in years for only $20! (Plus she was down-to-earth and pleasant to chat with, which is a plus!) read more

I've been coming here for trims for more than 20 years. Laura or Ana usually help me but all the staff are great. I have kind of cut takes about 5 minutes to do and I'm out of there. I usually call ahead and get on a wait list so it saves me same time. They have a card that they punch-- you buy nine cuts and the 10th is half off. The price is cheap, the staff are friendly and it's quick...all of which I appreciate and it keeps me a loyal customer. Twice a year I go to a different stylist for color or a different style. I came here with the my boyfriend this evening to get a front bang trim for myself and a haircut for him. My name got called first, but his would take longer so I said he could go first. The woman Insisted that I go first because it was faster, so I agreed. Long story short she cut them quick and wrong. They're not even straight. Not to mention that as soon as she finished cutting my bangs she asked the manager if she could leave. She basically wanted me to go first so she wouldn't have to take the time to cut my boyfriend hair. I don't even know what to do with my bangs at this point they're cut so horribly and uneven. I get my hair cut here frequently. It's usually pretty good. Today was the exception. I made an appointment. I showed up on time and there were only 2 cutters there, still I was in a chair in minutes - good. Three minutes into my haircut the phone rang and my cutter (without a word to me) left and went to the front to answer it (the other cutter was closer but she was cutting the hair of a really cute young guy and they were really having a good time). My gal spent a good 5 minutes with the phone-in while doing the computer stuff. I thought holy crap what am I - chopped liver here? Then she came back and again, without a word, continued cutting. 5 minutes later phone rings again. Again she goes off without a word and same thing ensues. When she returned I said, "if this is not a good time for you, I can come back." She laughed and said, "Oh no, that's OK." Third time the phone rang, she started to go but thought better of it and waited for the other gal to get it - which she did. Hair cut was soon done, she asked if it was OK. It really looked a bit uneven to me, but I had no idea what to say. I mean it's a haircut, I'm no expert. I'll live to get it cut again. When I got home, my wife said, "What happened to your hair? It looks terrible." So lesson learned. No more SuperCuts. BTW I gave her a big tip anyway, because she has to make a living. I blame the management and training. Went in for an appointment today and I'll admit I was nervous. The last time I was at a Supercuts years ago it wasn't the greatest of experiences. So when this time I went in after it was recommended to me by a family member who frequents this location and after all was said and done I was more than pleased. Ana was the stylist that cut my hair. It was refreshing that despite me explaining what I wanted my hair to look like in the worst of ways she 100% understood and did exactly what I was hoping for. I recommend getting your hair shampooed by her as well, it felt fantastic and my hair looks and feels awesome. My bangs are perfect. This experience has definitely changed my opinion about supercuts. It wasn't unreasonably priced at all like I had anticipated, and there isn't an extra charge for girls who have long hair like myself. I'll be returning to here for my next haircut for sure. read more

Don't waste my time. If I call ahead and you tell me 25 minutes and it shouldn't actually be twice that. The ONE staff member there taking 10 minutes "orienting" herself with a client is not okay. Talking about what she wanted, showing her her laptop with images, asking for advice. This lady didn't even know what she wanted, yet she was taken ahead of me despite me calling ahead. The receptionist, when asked about an updated estimated waiting time was very rude, un-conciliatory, and had an attitude telling me she "hasn't even started" "it'll be another 25 minutes".
