This is an amazingly cool place to eat, especially for the Florence/Shoals area. In my opinion, they have the best burgers in town. They are always cooked perfectly, and big and juicy like I want my burgers to be. They serve breakfast all day. Many of their breakfast dishes have superb presentation. We have been there a few times for breakfast, and it's been good.... But slow. Don't go when you are in a hurry. A few weeks ago we decided to try their dinner again. The first thing we noticed was that the restaurant reeked. I would rather not specify of what here. It was warm and humid in the restaurant, and there was no ice available for the drinks. While the waitress was gone to get the drinks a string of loud vulgarity came from the kitchen. We got up to leave at this point, and another customer was at the counter asking about the language from the kitchen. I did not ask for a call from the "main manager," but the hostess did make the offer. I left my name and number, but was never contacted. This business is in the middle of downtown of a beautiful city, and schools were having their "meet the tigers" event this night. So the downtown area was covered up with potential customers. It's a shame that this is how Superhero Chef was represented. read more

As much as I wanted to be impressed, I have to say I wasn't. My mom sits on the Chamber Board with one of the investors of this restaurant and raved about it. She wanted me to give them a try and I had high hopes but personally I didn't feel it was anything special. The staff was very nice but the food just wasn't all that to me. They also were expensive and the food is mediocre. I went with my mom, grandma, husband and both of our kids so we all ordered different things and tasted a little of each other's dishes. We started with the Waffle Bites. In all honesty they tasted like French Toast bites. They were actually good, sweet and covered in cinnamon sugar with a little compote and whipped cream. Yum! We also ordered the Sub Zero Pancakes (Blueberry Pancakes with Lemon Mascarpone), Red Velvet Pancakes, Banana Pudding French Toast, and Candied Bacon Breakfast Sandwich. We also had ala carte items like eggs, house made sausage, and hash browns. Let me start by saying the pancakes were super pretty in appearance but lacked in taste. They were also dry. Anybody that knows me knows, I love Red Velvet anything and I get excited to try anything Red Velvet. However, these pancakes fell short. The Red Velvet Pancakes tasted more like chocolate and were extremely dry. They come with 4 thick pancakes and I only ate half of one and trashed the rest. The blueberry ones weren't as dry as the Red Velvet but they were still dry as well. They also didn't taste like good blueberry pancakes I've had before. Something was missing. I wasn't impressed. My husband raved about the breakfast sandwich and I must say it was decent. My grandma said the French Toast was good and she ate it all so I guess it was good. The sausage was horrible is appearance but it had a good taste. The hash browns were good but weren't anything special. They looked like breakfast potatoes out a bag. Overall, the concept of the restaurant down to the details and menu were awesome but the execution (food) wasn't impressive to me. The food we had was great! We had the banana pudding French toast and the sausage and cheese omelet. I was worried the French toast would be too sweet for me, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't! I would HIGHLY recommend the French toast!! We also got a side of their homemade sausage which wasn't exactly what I expected. It reminded us a lot of chorizo and it was ground up sausage instead of a sausage pattie. The service was decent and we luckily didn't have to wait since we got there before 8. However if you go on the weekend, be expected to wait if you go any later than 8:30. I hate to leave a bad review, but let me start off by saying, I have worked every front of house position in a restaurant from hostess to salaried manager all across the country. This morning, our service at Superhero Chefs was nothing short of lousy. I wish I could call her by name, but our server never introduced herself. We started off with water, OJ, mimosa, and coffee. The OJ truly tasted like water with a squeeze of orange (concentrate mix?), the mimosa was warm, and when she brought the coffee, she asked if we needed cream and sugar, to which we said yes. At least 10 minutes passed before we got the cream and sugar, and that's only because I had to flag another server down and ask for it. The coffee was cold by then. When our entrees finally came out, I would say it was definitely sub-par. I got the Superhero Chefs Eggs Benedict, and the grit cake was exceptional! The eggs were definitely over done (supposed to be runny but almost over hard). My boyfriend got the traditional breakfast platter with an add on pancake. The pancake and biscuit were not really warm, and the pancake was overdone and hard. It didn't come with syrup or anything of that nature, and we never saw our server again to request it. When she dropped our food off, she specifically said, "Yall are my only table now, so you will have my undivided attention!" But we literally never saw her again until she FINALLY dropped the check. She never came back to pick up the check, which we had waiting on her as soon as she dropped it by. After about 10 or so minutes of waiting, I took the check up front to the VERY SWEET and ATTENTIVE hostess, who apologized over and over, and gave our check to our server to run. I was waiting by the server and hostess to retrieve the check to tip and sign, but the server handed it to the hostess, never looked at me, apologized, or anything of that nature. Truly, I HATE to leave a bad review, and if the service was better, we might have been able to overlook the subpar food quality, but the only positive about this experience was the hostess. We had called ahead, and as soon as we walked in the door, she was super friendly and attentive, kept us updated on our place on the list, and even gave us menus to look over. While we were there, she was consistently working, cleaning, bussing, and seating tables. Had she been our server, I KNOW I would not be writing this review right now. She is sincerely the only reason this gets two stars instead of one. It really sucks that this experience was so poor, because I really truly would like to see small businesses in Tuscumbia thrive and flourish, but I really just don't see that happening here, unfortunately. We were pleasantly surprised with this place. Good food; varied menu; good looking sandwiches and salads. I enjoyed the full-size Wonder Woman salad. I ate every bite. I think this place is wonderful. We've eaten here a few times and there is absolutely nothing on the menu that wasn't delicious! The southern egg rolls are phenomenal, we make sure to order those every time because you truly can't go wrong. The Juggernat is one of my personal favorites, but honestly I haven't tried anything on the menu that didn't knock my socks off. So delicious and not too pricey. This place is also a black-owned business which is a plus if supporting black-owned small businesses is important to you! I really couldn't recommend this place more. 11/10! read more

We stopped in this past Sunday for brunch. We arrived at around 11:30 with 8 people and they sat us immediately. We had two small kids with us and they insisted on being walked through the tables to see the different superhero logos. The food was excellent. We had no complaints from any one and everyone loved their food. I personally had the Stuffed Granola Encrusted French Toast, it was excellent. My SIL had the banana version and he inhaled it, so I'm thinking it was great as well. I thought someone would order a lunch item but no one did, so we will have to return to try lunch and dinner menu. read more
