I don't write Yelp reviews, but I had to for this vendor. We averted a major crisis in our old home in NW DC by calling Ben at Superior Appliance Services. Our older refrigerator is built into the wall and cannot be replaced easily. When it stopped working we were alarmed. and also concerned about how much time we would need to take from work to wait around for people to come. We have dealt with SO MANY of the standard service providers and this was the ONLY one who did what they said they would do, and when they said they would do it. Ben was prompt the first day, polite, knowledgable and worked efficiently. He diagnosed the problem within 10 mins , called for a part and returned within 2 days to install the part. He also gave us an interim solution so that we could use the unit. We are not going anywhere else for appliance repairs, Give this guy a shot. He knows his stuff. Go Ben!! I'd like to give these guys more stars. Many repairmen I've used have not taken the incentive to figure out the cause of a problem. While I was convinced that the washer was leaking (because water leaks into the floor below EVERY time the washer ran a cycle), they stayed for about an hour and tested it thoroughly and found NO leak. What! There's water coming through the ceiling below. Humm, they then figured out that the water was actually coming from a faulty drain connection which was not visible in the wash room area. Now, while they do not do plumbing, it was a true relief to find out the real cause, and now I can solve it. Most repairman would have said, the washer is OK, and here is the bill. These guys were truly interesting in helping me. VERY reasonable. Money well spent. I will always turn to them first for appliance repair. read more

I called superior appliance on a Thursday afternoon to repair my refrigerator that had stopped working and they came on the same day. The repair man had a replacement motherboard for my refrigerator in his truck, so he was able to replace it immediately. The whole diagnosis and repair took about 30 minutes and was $368. He even called me the next day to make sure the refrigerator was working well. I recommend this company, they provide quick and reliable service. read more

I am looking to have a brand new double wall oven installed. Based on Superior Appliance Services website, "All major home appliances serviced, repaired, or installed." I mistakenly assumed they installed appliances. They do not, as it was abruptly told to me over the phone. Seems to me this is a minor issue unless you actually need an appliance installed or you assume their repair work is somehow more reliable since they claim on their website to "install all major home appliances." read more

Called at 9:30 am, someone was at my house by 1 pm and finished by 1:40 same day. My stackable dryer was not heating, technician replaced the thermostat for $220. Technician was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable; I would definitely call them again if needed. read more

Our technician was Ben and he did a fantastic job. We were having issues with our Sub-Zero fridge not maintaining a cold enough temperature. We had another person come to fix it and they replaced very expensive parts that didn't actually fix our temperature problem. When we called Ben, he came on the same day and early in the alloted time window. He was obviously very knowledgeable and polite. He gave me several options to fix our issue instead of immediately giving me the most expensive choice. He also left us with his card and several contact numbers so that we could reach him if we continue to have issues. read more

Our fridge broke and I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find a repair person. I always have a sense of dread about repairs and how to find the right company to go with. I checked Yelp, Angie's List, and Google to find a few places. I called ~6 different places, and Superior Appliance was one of the few responsive ones that serviced LG fridges in DC. They came out the next day (gave me a 4 hour window but called me 30 min before coming to give me a heads up). He had the parts on hand, and fixed the fridge and freezer within 10 minutes. It was incredibly easy. I also used their $35 off coupon, which is available on their website -- I just had to reference it and he took it off the final price (total for fixing my fridge/freezer was $175, which included parts + labor, and diagnosis/service fee). A little gruff/brusque, but efficient and professional, and seems reasonably priced for the DC area. read more

Repairman quickly identified the problem, kept my wife and I fully informed of the process and the time it would take. By Sunday afternoon, the refrigerator was working again. Originally, I tried to go with another local appliance repair company I had a good experience with in February, but after trying to contact them through their website and by phone, I never got a response. Superior Appliance Repair was my second choice and, I'll be honest, I wasn't thrilled to have to take a chance on a new company. I now see this as a lucky break! The service I got over the phone was excellent. I had to request several changes to my window due to complications that kept popping up on my end--work hours, a water shutdown at my condo, etc--things that I know made their jobs harder, but the gentleman I spoke to on the phone never gave a sense that I was inconveniencing him. I was really stressed about my washer/dryer being fixed as I will be out of town this weekend and am literally out of clothes, and to my great relief, they were able to make time for me within 2 days of my contacting them. Zouhaier called prior to his arrival and was here at exactly the predicted time, well within the window I was quoted on the phone. He worked quickly and competently and, something of a rarity to me, was never condescending when I asked questions or offered my own guess as to what was going wrong. As a woman, I rarely am taken seriously by maintenance workers, so I think this is an important thing to highlight for any ladies out there looking for help. He listened to what I had to say and didn't double check the work I had already done to diagnose the issue as he could immediately tell once the machine was on that I had the right diagnosis. Furthermore, he was very generous in teaching me how to deal with issues that might come up with my machine on my own in the future. He gave me honest and really helpful answers to all my questions, and the price I paid for maintenance was MORE than fair. Best of all, he had the part that needed to be replaced in his van already--I was dreading another week waiting for it to arrive, which is what has happened every other time I have ever had a machine with a busted part. Now my problems are all taken care of and I get to do the mountain of laundry that has been piling up while I waited for that other company to get back to me. I had no prior dealings with this company, I normally rely on a friend in the housing industry for service provider recommendations, but called this company based solely on reviews. I have a Bosch under counter dishwasher (contrary to another review, they do service Bosch). Gave them the model number during the first call and described the problem (probable defective instrument board). They came within 24 hours of my call and fixed it. Tech was polite, knowledgeable and worked without delay. Also, gave advice, when asked, regarding an issue with another appliance that they don't service. If I have a service issue with another unit, I will call them first to see if they handle it. Very satisfied. read more

Ben, the owner, and his employees are excellent and reliable. Our front loading Maytag washing machine was leaking and the door gasket (rubber lining) had to be replaced. He came and fixed it right away without having to make an initial service call as other companies some times do. During the repair, Ben told me about a small leak in a hose that had been punctured by a wire from a bra. He did not have to tell me about that but he did because he is so honest. His company concentrates on residential appliances and he lists the ones he services. He will honestly tell you what he is capable of doing and only charges for the excellent work that he does. I recommend Ben and Superior Appliance Services very highly. It is a big relief to find a good company that charges a fair price. read more

He told me he needed to order a part and would keep me updated on the ordering status and install it quickly since it was the week before Christmas. We had a Kenmore HE3 dryer that stopped heating, so it was likely that it was the fuse or heater element - on the old side, so who knows. I called Superior Appliance on a Sunday around noon and the repair technician was at our house by 3 pm, done by about 3:45 - he had a new heater element (the culprit) in the van. Cleaned out the lint-filled undercarriage of the dryer, all good as new. Couldn't ask for more: courteous, professional, thorough, prepared. And relatively inexpensive to cap it all off. I was able to make an appointment for my washing machine repair within a couple days after another company tried to give me a date more than two weeks out. They came in the time window stated and did a good job explaining what the potential issues could be. He spent the time to slowly drain the backed up water in the washer so as not to flood my basement and even mopped up afterward. At the end of the day, it was a sock caught in the drain pump. Great service. Price seemed slightly high given no new parts were needed, but is was quite a bit of labor to get the water out of the machine without spilling it everywhere. All in all, very satisfied. Would use them again and recommend them to others. read more

I made an appointment for last Saturday and I was told that the technician would arrive between 10:00-12:00. At 11:45 the technician called to report that he was running late and would arrive soon. He and an assistant arrived at about 12:30 and I explained the problem: That earlier that week I had called Washington Gas to come and check my stove after smelling a strong odor of gas while using the stove. The Washington Gas person had come to check the stove and asked my permission to disconnect the stove until it could be repaired. I agreed and so the stove was disconnected when technician Ben arrived. Ben and his helper proceeded to reconnect the stove and then began to inspect the stove without any further conversation with me... although I was working at a table within 10 feet of the kitchen and was within speaking distance. Much to my surprise, and without having provided a quote or any kind of feedback to me, Ben completed the work and then informed me that he had replaced the igniter and that the charge would be $225. I was surprised and asked if he normally does work and then announces the cost. His responded by telling me that he had to replace the igniter in order to determine if that was the problem and that if I wanted him to remove the new igniter he would do so. I didn't like his approach to the job but since my stove had been disconnected for 5 days, I wanted it fixed and so I agreed. Fortunately, I had located a coupon on the company's website for $55 off the first job and I showed it to Ben and he adjusted the bill. Just a small point, I noted that the invoice is for "Appliance Services" and not "Superior Appliance Services." A subcontractor, perhaps? I would not use the company again simply because I have never had a repair be done before being given a quote. read more

With all the glowing recommendations on Yelp, I called Superior Appliance service and talked to Ben. He said he would send someone out Saturday (11/12) between 10 and 1. I told him I would have to leave by 2 p.m. and gave him the model number of the clothes dryer that stopped working. So, Saturday morning, I was ready at 10 and ready at 12:40 when someone called and said they were on their way. I was still waiting at 1:15 when Saif arrived. I knew the call was $50 just for coming here. Saif checked and, yes, it was the belt that was busted. Did he have a replacement? No. Ben didn't tell him the problem with the machine, so he wasn't able to bring a replacement belt. He said they would have to order the belt since the machine was old. I said, why did Ben not tell you before you left? After all, I did give him the model number. He would have known that you did not have a belt and would have told me. Then I saved myself $228. How? I asked him how much he would charge me on his return to install the belt. He said he would not charge me the travel fee of $50, but just the installation fee of $228. I said just to install the belt? Yes. I said, God bless you, but do not come back. I said it is outrageous to charge that kind of money to do half an hour's worth of work... if that. He was a nice fellow and probably would have done the job just fine, but for $299 I can get a brand new dryer! As it was, I wasted $50. Had they told me that they did not have the belt, I may have asked how much to replace it and on hearing the bill, I would have decided just to get a new machine. As it is, I found the exact GE replacement belt online for $10.51 and a tutorial on how to install it (many tutorials, in fact) on Utube. Oh, well. $50 wasted, but a lesson learned. Will I ever call on Superior Appliance again? No. PS. I studied how to replace the belt by watching videos on U-Tube, got a new belt for $8.95 and fixed the dryer myself. Not counting the study time, the entire time to fix the problem? Half hour. And these guys wanted $278.00 for the job. read more

Excellent customer service! I called this company to repair one of my appliances at home, and not only were they prompt and professional, but very honest, too. How honest? At first, there was an initial misdiagnosis of the problem (which we had done over the phone), but when the representative was at the house, they realized that there was a different problem with the machine. Rather than putting the blame on the machine or on me, like many other companies might do, the representative just owned-up to the initial diagnosis, then went back, got the right parts, and came back and fixed the problem. I really appreciated that they took ownership of the situation, and were very professional about making sure that the appliance was fixed the right way, using the right parts. Other companies would have tried to put the blame on the customer, or tried to somehow finagle their way into multiple visits, just to charge extra. But, not this company! It's hard to find honest technicians these days, but I really enjoyed my experience with this company. The appliance, by the way, is running beautifully now. Would highly recommend Superior! read more
