Light coming through immediately after install
    Joshua B.

TLDR: This company's "elite tech" couldn't diagnose or install a simple fridge gasket correctly, which caused me to get another brand new gasket and reinstall myself. I regret ever hiring this company. I will never use them again. I used their company to swap a fridge gasket. They quoted me $195 to swap both gaskets. When the tech came out he looked at the first one that I tried myself and told me it was installed correctly and then they swapped the second one within 1 minute. During this he also said that the gaskets weren't the problem and wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain why they were (I could see light coming from the fridge and condensation built up around that area). The tech took the shelf out of the fridge to show me that I was wrong and damper door was closed. He ended up being wrong and the channel where the damper door was, had just frozen over because of the over-use due to the gasket leak. He tried to talk down to me and make me feel dumb even though I was ultimately correct in my diagnosis. After he was done I could see even more light coming out of the side than with the old gasket. He spent a few more minutes trying to heat it up to form it to the door and then tried to charge me the whole $195. I stated that he only did 1 gasket and not 2 so I should only be charged half. He rolled his eyes and then went back and forth and he said "fine how much do you want to pay" I said "I guess 110 since you tried to help with a diagnosis". After he left I noticed that the brand-new-out-of-the-box oem gasket that I had installed was damaged at the exact spot that he jostled the shelf from and the new gasket had more light coming out of it than the old gasket. When I called in to have them come rectify the situation they told me the "elite tech" wouldn't have made this mistake and if he had, he would've noticed. I mean WTF kind of response is that. So they did nothing except give me my money back for the service. They also said that the gasket would form itself to the door after a couple of days/weeks. After two weeks of my fridge being out of order waiting for the new gasket to arrive, I then double checked to see if the one they installed ended up forming to the door... they were incorrect about this as well and the light was still coming through. With a little time and YouTube research I was able to figure out where the tech went wrong and how to install both of them correctly (the magnetic strips inside the gasket need to make full contact with the door when closed), and now they're both fully formed to the door making a solid seal.

    Report from Bosch

I called them to have a technician install a dishwasher who was able to come out within a couple of days. I was told by technician that the dishwasher's control board was faulty and to call Bosch/Home Depot for a replacement. I arrranged with with Bosch to have one of their certified technicians review the installation and actually see if the control board was faulty. The Bosch technician was able to start the dishwasher without any problems (there was about a 5 to 10 second delay from the dishwasher starting up but the Bosch tech explained that this long pause is common on the initial start up of a Bosch dishwasher). Since the dishwasher started just fine the Bosch tech inspected the work done by the technician sent out by Vision. The first thing that the Bosch tech noticed was the loose wires on the floor to power the dishwasher, stating that this was a fire hazard. The dishwasher installation kit did come with a junction box so these wires would be not exposed and cause the potential for harm. The Bosch tech also noted that the dishwasher drainage pipe was lower than the recommendation for installation, which would cause the pumping motor to work a more and cause more wear. After the Bosch tech explained to me what needed to happen to properly install the dishwasher, I went to work to disconnect the wires and hoses from the dishwasher. The first thing I did was install the junction box under the sink and used an existing hole to feed the wires through. Connecting the wires in the junction box, was as simple as matching the colors of the wires and screwing them in place. I screwed the junction box at a location high enough so the wires would be protected from any water linking or pooling. Next, I drilled a new hole on the cabinet wall adjacent to the dishwasher so the dishwasher drain pipe was higher than it was left by the Vision technician. A few days after I re-did the installation, I received a call from the installation tech, who asked for an update regarding the dishwasher. I relayed the events as I state above, and he stated that he wasn't actually done with the installation as a way to explain why the dishwasher was left the way it was. He I would be charged $200-ish for the installation. I requested to speak to his supervisor to discuss the subpar installation work, but I haven't received a any sort of contact from his supervisor only a VM from someone in there office saying I still owe $200-ish for the installation.

The post visit photo - missing screw, scratched pull top

A botched $300(ish) repair job cost me a $2,000 refrigerator. On 26 June 2021, Vision Appliance tech Max tried repeatedly to pry out a non-functioning ice maker from my Samsung refrigerator; and, in the process the sealed system was broken causing a Freon leak and ruining the cooling system for the entire refrigerator/freezer. Adding insult to injury, I had to pay $59 for this "service" and the company has not responded to my emails and Facebook placed complaints (I did notice that my Facebook based complaint was buried below older compliments). At the time, Max claimed he uncovered a pre-existing leak but not to worry because the ice-maker system would not affect the rest of the refrigerator. Within hours of Max's visit my refrigerator was losing temperature and Freon gas had leaked both inside and outside the refrigerator tainting the air and any uncovered contents. 24-hours after the visit the refrigerator held no cooling air. Before the repair visit, it was 12months that the ice maker hadn't dispensed ice; an unfortunately common problem with Samsung ice-makers to freeze up. Yet, the refrigerator and freezer worked perfectly. Max is a super friendly guy with whom I have gotten great service on multiple projects since 2019. This time, it seems trying physically to force the ice-maker - vice putting it through "forced defrost" or calling Samsung for advice - irrevocably damaged the system.

Our GE refrigerator/freezer that is only 1 year 8 months old. Control modules and fans typically fail.
    John L.

Needed repair work on a GE refrigerator/freezer that was in use for only 1 year and 8 months. A loud noise was coming from the evaporator fan. This company had a 4.9 rating on Google reviews based on 408 reviews. This rating was for the DC business. I contacted them and they set up a repair visit through their MD business. The visit was two days later on a Saturday between 9 AM and noon.. The trip fee and diagnosis costed $59. The $59 is eliminated if you have them repair it. The technician arrived at 10 AM and was wearing a mask. This mask thing is important to people because of Covid-19, but the vaccine will make it mute in the near future. He removed his shoes at the door. The technician removed the freeze door and the freezer back wall to get to the fan and evaporator. The evaporator was coated with ice, so the noise was due to the fan scraping the ice. He deiced the evaporator and put everything back together. A new control module was needed because the defrosting wasn't working right. He needed to order the part. I had to wait until Monday for the repair. The refrigerator worked, but started making the same noise on Sunday night. After the technician left, I attempted to put a few things into the freezer. The freezer drawer made a thunk sound when I opened it. While closing the drawer, it would get stuck 3 inches from full closure. It required a hard push to close it. It had never been like that until the technician took it apart. I called the company on Saturday night and left a message to complain about it. A woman called on Sunday to say that she would put in a work order for the door and they would talk to the technician about the door problem. Everything was fixed on Monday. The evaporator was thoroughly deiced, the control module was installed and the door was fixed. Come to find out, the technician installed the screws to the door rails backwards. That caused the tall screw heads to hit the plastic bump stops in the rails. That stopped the door from closing easily. Total repair time was about 3.5 hours. 2 hours for the first visit and 1.5 hours for the second. Total cost was $375.61. The control module costed $184. That price was only $9 more than the online price at a parts supplier. There was no charge for the door. The work was thorough, the technician was reliable and professional, the company was responsive and the cost was reasonable. I would use them again. GE refrigerators, maybe not.
