On a whim, I visited this new BBQ place to me, for some meat to add to my salad I had picked up. I…read morewas greeted immediately upon entering, and was treated wonderfully! I am exceedingly picky and selective about my BBQ coming from a BBQ family my entire life, prefer BBQ dry rubs versus any sugary sauces that seem to disguise and mask flavors to me of really good meats, so chose accordingly on both the turkey and brisket. When I got home and got a really good tasteful of each before adding to my salad, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Both were incredibly juicy (the turkey moreso), fantastically melt in your mouth tender, and the flavor was out of this world, just like I remember from living back at the East Coast and unlike most other disappointing BBQ I've tried in CA over the last 25 years (when I spot BBQ I have to try some). A bit pricey by the pound, but perfection is worth it. The sandwiches and rest of menu look reasonable. I'm a purist, watching my carbs, and the meat I had is just too divine to not be eaten by itself or flavoring a salad for me. BTW? It was the BEST salad I've ever eaten in my entire life if that gives you an idea!

Wasn't really impressed, food was cold and not very tasty…read more Dickey's used to be really good BBQ, we went to the one in Placerville, we were very disappointed.

I cant believe this is what Dickey's calls tacos. No sauce, no produce!! Just dry meat & a cheese slice. I will never go back!!

Super amazing BBQ food, great vegetarian options, and perfectly tasting EVERYTHING! I will definitely look for these guys next time I'm out in Apple Hill, or any other event they're catering and recommend them 10x over!

Fun, classy, and the moistest mouth-watering BBQ you'll likely sink your canines into 'fer miles around. We stumbled upon Keith's Sierra Smoker by accident - we were up at Grandpa's Cellar in Apple Hill. Had already eaten a disappointingly bland BBQ plate at the Jack Russell Brewery (liked their IPA though!). The guys at Keith's were so nice we ended up chatting with em - then we were offered some tasty samples and were blown away by the tenderness, juiciness and flavor! Apparently they marinate their tri-tip for two days, and it really shows up when it hits your taste buds. Even though we'd just eaten BBQ for lunch, we decided to order a plate to go. $10 got us a container brimming with their apple- and cherry-wood smoked meats, homemade beans (oh yeah) and macaroni salad. I'm not really a fan of mac salad, but their house made version was light and tasty, with nice crunchy pieces of celery. Apparently, they're based in Placerville and they do catering jobs. So, the south may have lost the war, but Keith's Sierra Smoker southern style BBQ has won us over!

Do NOT get married here. The venue is very pretty, but organizationally, they are a complete mess…read more We were trapped into it with lofty promises and a deposit of half the whole cost. There was no communication between staff, poor communication between the management and us as clients, employees were unsure of their own roles and our provided "day of coordinator" had zero idea how to coordinate a wedding and I as the bride had to keep the day moving and tell her what to do next. (Even though we came up with a typical schedule together.) The management didn't know the size of the tables available at this location, and at our rehearsal the day before our wedding, we were told that we had to redo our whole seating chart because the tables were actually smaller than we knew. The food was brought up all the way from Sacramento in a U-haul truck, which was visible to the ceremony site during the ceremony. Half of our guests got sick afterwards. The food menus they gave to us to select catering from did not reflect what was actually available either. The chef took our selections down with a sticky note, and they lost that sticky note. They had to call us to confirm our choices. Choices we had to change AGAIN because the menu changed again. I even had to fight to have a decorated cake, and even then it ended up being extremely minimalist by design. More than once our wedding detail consultation dates had to be changed in favor of weddings that were much larger than our smaller event. They basically left our event planning to the very last minute. 2 months in advance. We spent $500 on liquor and sodas for people who didn't care for our pre-fabricated signature drinks (old fashioned's and French 75's) but the venue provided bartender never even touched those supplies. Instead, he opened up all of our red wine bottles at once, giving no thought for guest demand. We had to throw out half of the untouched wine bottles at the end of the night. Our guests had ZERO idea that there were more drink options. Please save yourselves and get married somewhere else. We are haunted by this experience.

I had a few ideas of how I wanted the night to go and Sue helped to make that possible at her gorgeous log cabin venue. I had quite a few things to set up and Sue allowed us in early to take care of the setup so we weren't rushing and stressed right before the event. The holiday decor was transformed from Christmas trees to classy and elegant whites and golds for my event colors/theme. Everything was beautiful and the tri-tip buffet was delicious!! I would love to have another event at the Sierra Banquet Center! Thank you Sue (and your team) for all that you did to make my dads celebration so memorable!
