We called Steve out to do some minor fixes in the house and repair termite damage and dry rot outside. Right away he tried to convince us to restucco and repaint the whole house. I'm glad we didn't. We were initially given one estimate but soon were given other added costs. Soon a job that should've taken a couple of days stretched to more than a week because he wasn't showing up to finish work that had been started. He sent a buddy of his to finish the job and it turned out well after all but not because Steve did it. Steve was rude and condescending and threatened to back out of the job when we complained about his absence or rising costs. Don't waste your time with this company your job may not get finished or it'll cost you more than you expected. Very unprofessional! read more

Steve is a fast talker who persuaded me to replace my kitchen cabinets instead of modifying the shelving of the lower cabinets (with rolling shelves). After starting the job, he and his fiancee took a vacation, leaving me without a kitchen till his return. The final work was shoddy--2 cabinet doors have fallen off due to inferior screws (the first happened before he was finished the work), cabinetry did not completely cover the subflooring in places (ceramic tile had been installed 20 years ago around the built-in cabinetry) and left the stove hood exhaust pipe exposed. One lower cabinet has a gap between two units that did not line up properly, which opens to the sub-floor, and which would permit bowls and pots to fall through to the subfloor with no way to easily retrieve them. Not to mention allowing bugs and vermin to enter from below. He tore out cupboards above the washer-dryer before I had a chance to consider his proposal to put in a pantry and then, when I rejected the pantry idea, he installed a smaller cabinet that does not hold all the contents removed from the original because he had hauled off the old cupboard without waiting. This means that cleaning supplies are out in the open. He also removed a cupboard that was above the refrigerator and did not replace it. More lost storage. He charged me $30,000 and now I will have to pay someone else come in to fix the job. Avoid this guy. read more

Walked around the property prior to start and explained that we need our fence to pass inspection for the new pool and explained the minimum height and clearance requirements for the fence. We should have been more careful to include every nuance into the contract. Steve constantly kept coming to note things that would cost more money. Additionally, Steve seemed to constantly forget and mis-remember discussions and cost agreement. Within a day our $7k project became a $12k (but was finally negotiated to $10k). Anytime we tried to have a normal discussion to address overage costs and to resolve issues, Steve would get extremely defensive, aggressive, or anxious and start threatening to walk away from the project. Additionally, he brought a literal combat trained attack dog to hang out in our backyard while he worked. If you decide to work with this company, make sure all conversations are in email or text message so there is no question about what was said. Additionally, make sure every detail, no matter how small, is included in the contract, even if it needs to be 3 pages long for simple fence repairs. After dealing with Steve's defensive, aggressive, or anxious behavior for a week we paid him to leave. With 94% of the contract paid out this was the state of our fence and new gate. read more

Well, reading the one star ratings, this is 'Déjà vu all over again." Steven asked if my husband would give him a good review for the work performed. Seriously? Not in this lifetime!!! A contractor's license does not mean quality craftsman ship - and we got a a nightmare with sloppy workmanship. Of course, he thought his work was excellent. He was defensive, overly aggressive, had an attitude, and was demeaning. He even told us he was recording our conversations because we were harassing him. Only way you could get his attention was to yell. He literally thought we should pay him more money to do the job correctly. We told him, if he did not do the job correctly, to get off our property and we would see him in court. And oh yeah, he thought if no one told him NO SMOKING on the property, he was free to light up through out the day with cigarette butts all over our patio. BTW, I am an asthmatic. Update - 3/14/18 - I added some pictures of the new AstroTurf Steve and his team installed. It looks great Update - 2/18/18 - after a short break in work so I could save up some more cash to continue work resumed so I'm adding some more pictures of the progress. Nice to work with someone that understands your on a budget and can plan work accordingly so I could cash flow the renovations along the way. I have used these guys twice. Once last year to do some minor repairs and upgrades to my Condo prior to listing it for sale (new garage door, new faucet, touch up paint)and Now I am using them for a much more extensive job at a new beach house I purchased. New retaining wall, install vinyl Fence, install astro turf, and build me a storage shed and build a front and back deck. I got multiple bids and his were the best price. You did the roof on my mom's house a few months ago. You also replaced a non compliant gas and water pipe. It seems the quality of work was acceptable, but you promised to finance the job by cashing a series of checks she wrote for you on a monthly basis. You cashed 11 checks in the month of January. Then the last 2 in April. If you tell someone you're going to do one thing, then do something else, your reputation (which is marginal to begin with) is shot. You made a verbal agreement with her and broke your agreement. You should be ashamed of yourself making an agreement with an elderly widow then acting like it never happened. Unethical , untrustworthy, dishonest, and scheming are a few words that fit your business model. And then after soaking her for over seventeen grand you can't even stop in and take a look at things she has questions about? You wrote in the contract for black and white shingles. She claims she wanted gray. You said you never said black and white, then you end up using black and white. Painter volunteered to paint door, but Steve said no. You still left 5 gallons of paint, 3 heavy ass packages of shingles and a 15 foot long 2x8 board The solder job you did when this all started was crappy too, solder got into the water pipe and made the shower faucet so to wouldn't shut off. It gave you a chuckle and you acted like "oh well" I talked to you on the phone prior to the work, found out we were both veterans. I figured I'd advise my mom to go ahead and use your service based on that and the fact that you seemed reasonable. I know now that was a mistake, I should have contacted the state contractors board and read your yelp reviews. It looks like Maria had a similar experience. Do not use this service. This company not only misquoted my bid at $1,200, but then charged me $2k up front. The contract reflected a $600 discount listed within it, but it didn't get applied at the end of the transaction. Steve the owner will purchase the wrong materials, over purchase supplies, and buy the lowest quality goods in order to rip you off on his margin spreads. When I asked to view the Home Depot material supplies invoice he offered limited financial transparency. He will leave the job half finished while he chain smokes two packs of cigarettes on the job and rushes through the work. Also, he wanted an additional $200 after he failed to build the HVAC system I needed done. He doesn't clean up the jobs site after he is finished working either. I'm disputing the transaction with Venmo and demanding my money back because I need to redo most of the work with a contractor who can take instruction. read more

I saw Steve's ad in the paper for handyman services. I was in need of someone to come out and install a half door that protects the water heater and furnace. We do live near the beach and have had to replace that door 2 or 3 times in the past. I set an appointment with Steve for 8:00 am on a Monday morning. He arrived right on time and was very personable. After looking at the area, Steve suggested that we do a permanent fix. He said if we just slap another half door on, he would be back in a few years with the same issue. We did have some water damage to the wood inside the area that needed replacing as well. This required the water heater to be taken out and put back afterward. Stucco work would have to be done as well to facilitate the new full size fiberglass door. He got right to work. Steve worked diligently throughout the day without a break cleaning up as he went. I thought there was no way this was a one day job. Steve completed the work by 6:00pm that evening including stucco work and paint match. We are extremely happy with his work and all for a very fair price. I highly recommend Supreme Handyman and will definitely use him again. Thank You Steve! read more
