One of my favorite places the go to when I'm in Oxnard. I start with their chicken wings are crunchy and tastes sweet and sour. I also get the kimchi and pork soup and bulgogi. Both come with black rice which actually looks purple. Because the flavors all compliment each other so well, I just mix all of it with the Banchan and eat it that way. I love their kimchi. It's not as tangy as other kimchi I've had. I believe kimchi gets more tangy the longer it is fermented (which I also love!) The dinner sized bulgogi isn't too sweet on the marinade. My only gripe with it is that the meat seems like it's close to being ground up. I wish the pieces were a little bigger. I comes out to about $75 for my husband and I every time we go. The restaurant is at a nice location with ample parking and bathrooms are clean. Definitely give it a try! read more

Updating my review after five years of being a patron. Quality of food is still okay, but the once appealing taste of their dishes is now nothing more than ordinary. The place is now starting to show it's age. The once vibrant place that proudly shows it's Asian heritage is nothing more than just a normal eatery. Except for few decorations here and there, there was no effort to improve or at least maintain the decorations. The quality of service realy declined. The friendliness and hospitality that asians are known for are just a distant memory. I ordered three meals online for three people today, and when I picked it up, I asked if I can get extra cup of fish cake since three people will be sharing the single tiny cup. The lady rudely told me that one is all I can get and if I need one, I have to pay extra. Heck, if I and my friends ordered seperately, each one of us would have gotten one each easily but this lady is more focused on making small profit, not even thinking that the tip I gave them when I ordered is way more than enough to pay for 20 of those tiny dish. I was really tempted to say that and take back my tip, but for the sake of decency, I did not. it looks like the friendliness that they used to show to attract customers has been replaced by greed to make profit, no matter how small it is. Will I recommend this place? Probably not anymore. If a loyal patron for five years like me has seen this decline, then I will not take the risk of getting embarrassed by recommending them. Find another Korean restaurant somewhere else. This place is not the same place it used to be. You can keep your profit, but you just lost one loyal customer. read more

1st time eating here. The place is small but cute. Server was friendly and polite, restaurant was clean, also the restrooms. My fish was cooked well, crunchy the way I like it, just needs soy sauce. The tofu soup was good. The banchan was not that great because not a lot of selection. Other than that it's pretty good I recommend it giving it four star and will come back and eat here again sometime. If you've had any LA Koreatown KBBQ you may not be super happy with Sura. We got a bulgogi dinner combo and while the meat was flavorful, it came with bones and had a lot of tough parts (not the greatest quality). The banchan flavors felt a bit bland and strange and the tofu soup was very watery and was a let down. Sura is good for not being in a LA but its hard to recommend for any KBBQ lovers. read more

Stumbled upon this pretty good Korean restaurant in Oxnard located in Seabridge market. Open during the pandemic they also had indoor seating available. However we decided to order takeout. We tried the kalbi which is pretty tender and flavorful but the portions are very few. It was about four cuts of kalbi and not the full strips. It came with purple rice and a fried croquet. I wasn't fond of the croquet as it had teriyaki sauce on it which I wish they didn't have any sauce on it at all. We also tried the tempura which is pretty good but again the tempura dipping sauce was too sweet. Most tempura sauces are not that sweet. The daikon soup was excellent. The side dishes were pretty good. Overall I would probably go back if I'm in the area. read more

One of my favorite lunch specials!! So many delicious options at a beautiful location. Spicy Soups, Tender BBQ and all the delicious heathy Korean sides anyone could ask for. Another classic spot I have yet to have a bad experience at.. my only complaint is that dinner menu always seemed a bit intimidating do to the prices and portion size so I have yet to try it. I am disappointed in myself for coming to this restaurant for years and not leaving a review. I started coming here in 2016 and I have always had a great experience here with the flavors and ambiance. I enjoy the quality meats with the sides served, such as pickled bean sprouts and daikon radishes. The stone bowl soups are spicy and savory. This last visit I had brought my girlfriend with me, she is from the bay area and is a tough critic, but Sura has managed to win her over with the black bean noodles. Since moving here from Vegas and out of my korean mothers home I'm always craving for some good korean food. Upon walking in, the ambience is nice. They have classical music playing. Overall very clean restaurant. Sat down and was given our menu. In my opinion this place is just a bit too pricey for a Korean Restaurant. We ordered Japchae, Spicy Pork and Yukgaejang. The japchae was literally made with bulgogi sauce not your typical traditional japchae. Was disappointed in that. Next my bf ordered the spicy pork and came with a side of korean radish soup. The Spicy pork was okay. For some reason it didn't taste like pork. It gave me more of a chicken vibe with the texture. I'm a huge pork fanatic. But I could be totally wrong. I really enjoyed the yukgaejang though. That was good! I wish it was just a little bit spicer though. For a korean restaurant and probably the only korean restaurant here in oxnard it was so so. Ok - let me talk about this place. First off, we live an hour from Koreatown but we learned about Sura from a friend. We were nervous about trying a place 30 min from our home but thought to give it a shot. Service: 10/10. Judy took our order, was prompt, attentive and ensured our food came out FAST. She's warm and incredible with customers. Food: The kimchi pancake was crispy and packed with flavor. I can tell they used ripe kimchi which made everything 10x better. The Galbi (beef short rib) was juicy, tender, and the marinade tasted like galbi you'd get in koreatown (just without the stress of driving in traffic) Ok - the TOFU SOUP. We loved the broth. It had a deep and toasty flavor to it. We crave Korean food often and I'd say this is the best in Ventura county! read more

[INSIDE] Smaller restaurant than other Korean places I've been to, it's more of a narrow restaurant better for smaller groups than large ones. [FOOD] - Takoyaki: Crispy outside, steamy, delicious filling, the right amount of mayo on top without it being too saucy. - Chicken wings: not huge pieces like Korean fried chicken, but they're the perfect size wings for an appetizer too. The wings come covered in a glazed and topped with sesame seeds, so flavorful! - Soon tofu: I love a good tofu soup! It comes with banchan and purple rice (mix of black and white rice). It was the perfect amount of spice for me and tofu to meat ratio was perfect too. Good restaurant for a location not known for having a lot of Asians. Feedback on making it a better experience: Less/no sugar especially in meats. Too much sugar detracts the flavor. More side dishes for patrons who want them and less/no side dishes for those who don't want them so there's minimal waste. Otherwise, keep up the quality! read more

Husband and I + baby went for an early dinner, which was worth it because the place was filling up as we were leaving. We got jajangmyeon, kimchi pancake, tofu soup, and a chicken dish. This is the best Korean food currently available in Ventura County. It is a little pricey but everything is these days, so don't be discouraged to try it. And depending where you live, it's not around the corner, but definitely worth a visit. My family and I tend to order the same items each time: bulgogi, kalbi, bibimpap, mandu or sundubu soup, but the quality and flavors are consistent. The banchan is good and there is variety, although at lunch there are no seconds on banchan so it may be better to order dinner service for a few more dollars and have access to more. The kimbap is really well done. The only thing negative is one of the staff tries to clear my plate before I'm finished eating, like every time we go. When I eat out I like to enjoy my meal and finish my food if I desire. Not feel rushed like if I don't eat fast enough that my plate will be removed. So for this reason sometimes the experience is better ordered to go vs dine in. read more

I love SURA. When I lived in LA, I would venture to K-Town for some authentic Korean food. When we moved to Ventura, I searched for the same kind of experience. Sura has it all. My go to is Bi bim bob with veggies and tofu. The ban chan is perfect. Sapporo on draft and yummy bulgogi to satisfy the husband and boys. Service is hospitable, however you may need to know a little about Korean food otherwise it's assumed you know what you're doing. Passing through Oxnard, we wanted to look for a restaurant with excellent Yelp reviews. We found this restaurant and was so glad we did. They serve excellent Korean food. Dinner comes with salad and cup of soup with Daikon. Both were quite good for its simplicity. We ordered beef Bibimbop, beef soft tofu soup, spicy pork, and spicy pork belly with calamari. The servings were just right and the flavor was rich and one of the best Korean food we've had. The service was excellent and there's even a water view in the back of the restaurant.
