    Lunch Amberjack blackened

Amberjack blackened w/ fries. The Jack wad firm, cooked well and tasty (firmer fish than I want, but fine). Service was pedestrian. Views spectacular.

We stopped in for lunch since the Surf Hut was directly across from our hotel. The location directly on the beach is beautiful. We sat inside since it was a cooler day and they had the windows closed. The server was friendly and checked on us a couple times. I felt like the food was a little on the expensive side, but I do realize I'm in a tourist area. We wound up sharing the create your own catch thinking it would be a good size portion for $43 and we would have spent that much if we both got the least expensive items on the menu. It was not quite a shareable size. I actually felt bad for taking any of the fish. The grouper was small, not sure it was 6oz and the rice and beans were not well seasoned, they were quite bland. The mashed potatoes were very good, but I'm not a fan of paying $42 for good mashed potatoes. I am not sure I would return due to the cost and portion sizes.

We were told the wait would be about an hour, but we were pleasantly surprised and were seated in only 25 minutes. Our server was great, the food came out quickly, and everything was delicious. Overall, a wonderful dining experience!

The view was great and the food was good. We were seated quickly and the service was great. I ordered the shrimp sandwich, and there was so much shrimp! The fried coating was a little soggy by the time it came out, but overall everything still tasted good.

Definitely recommend Surf Hut. Earlier in the day we went fishing and caught some red snapper and grouper and was so excited that Surf Hut would do a hook & cook for us. They cooked our fish to perfection and gave us multiple variations of it. Nick, the manager, was super accommodating and helpful. We ordered the crab and shrimp dip which was great. Our sides of mashed potatoes and vegetables were also great along with the stunning view. Our server, Jessica, was so attentive and kind. The service was honestly amazing and we had multiple people come and ask us how we were and about our catch. Highly recommend!

Cone for the view, especially sunset, and enjoy the food, too. Dining: Shrimp and oysters with fries and coke slaw. Just the right amount of everything and all nicely done. Large shrimp with plump oysters. Tasty but not overpowering breading. Second entree: chicken kabobs were evenly cooked and tender. Veggies, too. Drinks: Blood orange from Goat Island; honey brown from Truck Stop. Cold and tasty. Service: good. Attentive. Perfect beach spot on a gorgeous fall night.

Great service, good quality food, not many non seafood options (however it is a coastal location, so that is to be expected). Nice atmosphere, cheerful staff. Only dessert option is Key Lime Pie. Great sandy beach area & corn hole games to play while waiting. Family Friendly!

Stopped at the Surf Hut for dinner with our extended family tonight. They were able to accommodate 17 of us at dinner time with no issue. The food was pretty good. My wife had a seafood salad and I had a burger. The seaside views were fantastic as the sunset. I recommend this place if you want a solid meal on a night out.

We didn't have a wait by trying this place on Mother's Day weekend. We tried to the cucumber salad which was good and the taco trio. Surprisingly, the bbq taco was the best. The fish taco wasn't good at all. The bean and corn side were really good. Unfortunately, we experienced hair in a food which left a bad taste in our mouth. There's also a view from beach if you choose to sit outside but beware of the birds.

This place might was the highlight of our dining experience in the Destin area! We arrived for dinner on the earlier side (5) and had no trouble getting a table for a family of 5. Looking right out to the white sand beach and gorgeous ocean with a fun area for the kids to play. Food was delicious- highly recommend the salmon and shrimp tacos. We had the nicest waiter and enjoyed the amazing beach after! Will definitely be returning when we're in the area!

I'll be so honest. I wish I could get my money back on this experience. The venue is beautiful. It's right by the waters. Our server seems pretty checked out and didn't care to be there or answer questions. We paid nearly $40-50 per person. And the food was pretty mid. The chimchurri sauce lacked flavor and the seasoned vegetables were mush. As someone visiting from out of town, I was disappointed with the quality of service and food at this restaurant.

Service was good, loved the outdoor seating. Food amount was small and quality was not the best for the price.

Is there an early bird or happy hour menu?

Is there a way to check in online for a waitlist?

No. As said in a number of reviews, it is first come first served. You must check in at the hostess station. They will text you when your table is ready.

Is the outdoor seating area dog friendly?

Only service dogs are allowed on the property.

Will you allow small well behaved dogs on the deck?

As of March 2021, no. Only service animals are permitted. Per the hostess - we heard her explain this to a few patrons who walked up with dogs.

I don't drink alcohol. Do they have non-alcoholic frozen lemonades?

They have non-alcoholic frozen drinks but I'm not sure if one of them is lemonade

Do they offer gluten free options?

    Yes

Coke or pepsi? Never mind I just ate there - it's COKE all the way!!

    I wanna say Pepsi

The flavors and the fresh fruit were perfect complement for all the dishes. The chicken and waffles were crispy and moist. The sauce for the chicken had a mild smokey with a little spice at the end. The bacon was so fatty also it was almost inedible. I paid almost FOUR DOLLARS for an extra egg and it looks like they forgot it (the plate comes with two) because the portion was so small. Not that I have ever been to a real fish camp but a restaurant with fish camp in the name calls to me so my sister and I visited Stinky's for an early lunch. Stinky's is an awesome spot for lunch because you can get half of a salad and half of a po' boy or half of a po' boy with a cup of soup. I was tempted by those halfsies combinations but ultimately I went with a basket. Much to my surprise, the basket could be ordered fried, grilled or blackened. I went with blackened shrimp and they were excellent - perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. So many places and people (myself included) overcook shrimp but these were timed perfectly! The basket also included tasty, crispy, big curly fries and hush puppies. What's not to love about fried dough but the hush puppies weren't my favorite. Those shrimp on the other hand . . . I am still thinking about them! I am sorry I am not remembering our server's name because he was awesome and absolutely deserves a shout out. He was super kind, attentive and personable. He had my heart when we offered me a Diet Coke to go. I'd go back to Stinky's just for his hospitality . . . And those blackened shrimp. The atmosphere is very casual and it has its own parking lot. Next door is Stinky's Bait Shop which is a unique spot offering fish and tackle, coffee, happy hour and a casual simple breakfast. I look forward to returning to Stinky's - either the restaurant or bait shop, maybe both!
