Went here for breakfast this AM. I'm weird with smells and when we first walked in it smelled ... off. It's also very tight inside. The staff was so, so friendly especially our waitress. If I could rate them on that alone I would give 4/5 stars. My daughter ordered 3 peanut butter pancakes which she said were "ok." Me and my other daughter both ordered 2 scrambled eggs with home fries, toast and bacon. When our food came out we both looked at each other and laughed. Never in my life did I see a tinier breakfast. I feel like a lot of people exaggerate on Yelp but when I tell you there were 4 forkfuls of home fries ... that was it. I was going to ask if maybe we got the kids menu by mistake but I doubt it. The food was warm (not hot) and just ok. But visually plated and portion size ... very, very small. Since we went at 11 maybe they were running out of food? For the portion size with 2 juices at around $45 before tip - issa no for me. Don't come here if you're hungry as this is a very LIGHT breakfast. Everything is expensive in Wildwood, so that's a given. The service was great but food quality and portion size makes this a one and done for us. read more

I love the old school vibe of this diner. Also the place is spectacularly clean which is difficult in a shore town in the summer. The reason for the 5 stars - the wait staff excellent. The cook even though extremely busy came out to check on everyone as did the hostesses. The food excellent. I had thee best cream chipped beef I have ever eaten and they have a special it comes in a bowl with their potatoes American cheese and a fried egg on top with toast on the side. The challah French toast was really good. They also have old school potato cakes. I will definitely be back - they have earned my continued business I don't know that I have ever given a 5 star for a breakfast spot. read more

So we had a great pleasure of meeting owner Micheal. As he told us some history about Surfside, his father opened it on July 4, 1963 ran it with his family. In 1994 his Father Toni passed away on July 4th. So with that being said 4th of July is a very important day in their family.... Thanks for the hospitality!!! If you ever go to Wildwood make sure to stop by Surfside West and try their Green eggs and Ham, everyone that's works there was very nice and friendly. One of my favorite diner in town!!!! read more

We just had our first amazing breakfast of summer 2023! The egg white omelette with straccatelli cheese, cherry tomatoes with pesto drizzle was amazing. My friend had the lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries- absolutely delicious. Everyone is so friendly and accomodating. My husband said the breakfast burger he had was outstanding. A amazing Memorial Day here in wildwood NJ. Woke up brutally hungover with my friends and wanted to get some breaky. Everywhere was packed and we didn't want to wait so we stumbled upon this place. Upon entrance they made me put a shirt on which was annoying as it was hot and I forgot my shirt at home. We walked in and the place was outdated and smelt like straight piss and cum. We got used to the smell adventually but it wasn't great to eat with. The food was very average and eggs tasted odd. I wouldn't recommend this really due to the price and the small serving sizes. On a good note the service was fast and nice the girl that brought our food out was hot but we only saw her once. Positives: Super friendly atmosphere. Everyone on the staff is open to conversation. Really good selection of hot sauces and a hot spice, including Dave's Insanity Hot Sauce which I'm gonna end up buying for the house. Not so positive: Cuban burger was ok. The burger had good flavor, but could have been a little crispier on the outside. Maybe needed a hotter burner. Served with potato chips which I'm not so much a fan of. I love french fries with my burger. Lettuce was brown at the edges. Another note: Owner made some small talk. It was cool knowing his contribution to Wildwood through the years. I didn't like the solicitation for 5 stars. Judging by the pictures, this diner has more to offer. I would have to give this place one more shot when I go back to Wildwood. read more

Went here for breakfast after we checked out of our hotel. My gf said they were #1 on trip advisor so we have it a shot. We got seated right away placed out orders. I got the two eggs home fries and ham. Everything's good I cut up the ham and there is a long brown hair under neath, waitress comes back I tell her she apologizes and new plate comes out almost immediately and it was cold. Bill came and the food was still on it and at full menu price, I was at least thinking the manager would make his way over to our table and nothing...very disappointed. read more

So nice we came here twice in two days! Traditional, cozy diner with very friendly and efficient staff. Generous food portions, great variety and consistently good. I throughly enjoyed my Belgian waffle topped with fruit, whipped cream and syrup! Surfside has been our go-to spot for years, a bell bed vacation tradition. Yesterday was our first trip in since COVID hit. We were early enough to be the only family sitting outside and we're fortunate to have our usual server, Robin, whom we adore! My party and I had the opportunity to dine here for lunch and we had a great experience. Upon entering the diner, we received warm welcomes and were seated immediately. The menu comprises mostly of breakfast items that you'd find in most American diners. Everything was delicious! During the entire dining experience, the staff was very attentive and was very friendly. The owners checked on my table multiple times to ensure that everything was great. They even provided crayons and coloring pages for my children while food was being cooked. Although this diner has been around for a long time, the owners maintained it very well and it looks great. The environment was very vibrant and clean. However, the men's restroom could use some renovation/remodeling. It has a toilet and a urinal. However, there is no door to the toilet stall and no visible lock to the entire restroom so privacy can be an issue. read more

Stopped by this place after riding bikes on the boardwalk. If on the south end it's just a few blocks away -- easily walkable. The place is reasonably-big, so wait shouldn't be long if you're going on a weekday. Service was great, and food better. I had the "green eggs and ham," with a cup of hot oatmeal on the side. Our Waitress, Hannah, was attentive and friendly, making our experience very enjoyable. The potato cakes is one small ball of mashed potato that has been deepfried. The price for just one of these things is outrageously high. Also, their breakfast sandwich comes on an English muffin instead of a Kaiser roll. Portions generally very tiny overall. Weird for a diner. read more

I had been going to the original Surfside diner ever since I was little, and when that business shut down I was so disappointed. Then my mom and I discovered Surfside West a few years ago, and it's just as fantastic. Surfside is a traditional small diner that serves breakfast and lunch. The wait staff has always been friendly, and the last two times we were there the owner stopped by and talked to us. Food prices are also reasonable for down the shore. I am the worst person to review the menu, because the only thing I get when I'm there is their famous Hangover. It's a bowl of homefries topped with cream chipped beef and a over easy egg on top with toast. Absolutely awesome. There's honestly no need for me to ever try anything else. Every year when my mom and I trek to Wildwood we always stop here for breakfast. It's definitely worth a try! read more

The two stars are for the wonderful customer service but at an expensive cost. First off it should be said I understand restaurants, and diners, in tourist towns are inherently more expensive. Today's order was French toast (2 slices) with bacon (3 small generic cheap bacon) and a cup of coffee for a shocking $13.50. There was nothing wrong with the meal but way overpriced. Confirming the meal was overpriced a quick check of several award winning Cape May breakfast menus all came in CHEAPER or the same. In closing the first experience will be the last. read more

I saw the Surfside day's ago while driving through and spoke to my wife about going there to try their breakfast. It is very difficult to satisfy us by serving breakfast at late hours. Most places in Wildwood advertise that they have breakfast all day but do not stay open past 11 a.m. or noon. Yesterday I left New Jersey for the day and she brought the kids to the Surfside West Diner and told me the food and service were both terrific. As I write this, I am sitting here enjoying a late breakfast, served at noon. From ordering to my first bite, the food was served all at the same time in less than 5 minutes. The omelette was massive and super delicious. The bacon was right on the money .... not too well done, but soft, still crisp, and delicious! It was made fresh and certainly wasn't sitting around waiting to be ordered. The sausage was very tasty . It is a unique breakfast sausage link, larger than normal breakfast links but very good flavor with an enjoyable but not too overwhelming spice. Surfside West's sausage is NOT a brown and serve, it is a freshly fried sausage cooked to perfection. The staff was right there without delay, experienced, courteous , outgoing and friendly. They were certain not to let me wait very long as I sat right at the breakfast bar. The seating was comfortable, not too close as most breakfast bars are. This was important because I am a fairly large guy at 250 lbs. The overall size of the breakfast was perfect. I was pleasantly full and enjoyed every bite. I enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant has that 50's - 60's ambiance inside and very clean. The AC was comfortable and I haven't had a better breakfast in Wildwood since we arrived on the 23rd of June. My family and I will certainly return again for breakfast and lunch. We all enjoyed their food, service and friendly atmosphere. The music played fit the building with the oldies. I hope all of those who wish to enjoy breakfast see this review. I was delighted that I found the Surfside West Diner and hope you do as well!
