This place is unbelievable. The pancakes are heavenly! The prices are reasonable and the people are amazing! We loved it so much we went 3 days in a row! I HAD PANCAKES 3 DAYS IN A ROW!! Loved this diner! While the offerings are fairly standard, it's definitely a step up from your typical diner in terms of creativity of preparation and quality of ingredients. I had a veggie omelette that came with a fresh and delicious tomatillo salsa, something I didn't expect. If you ask for hot sauce, they'll give you an entire basket of them. Watch out for Michael John, he'll convince you to try Dave's Insanity Hot sauce, and you, being the hot shot bad ass that you are, will try some. You are not a bad ass, you WILL burn your tongue and you will regret not heeding this warning. With that being said, I think the chef has a great sense of humor, he definitely pulls that on any poor soul that asks for hot sauce. We always look forward to starting our day with breakfast, especially when on the road. Tripadvisor puts Surfside at #2 in Wildwood, so off we go. The season is coming to an end so there was no wait for a table. Quick service with the coffee and menu. Daughter ordered the chocolate chip pancakes. Wife order the French toast with brown butter, brown sugar and macadamia nuts. I had the Greek hangover which is potato's, chipped beef, feta, spinach and tomato's all in one big pile. I have to say that all of us left happy and full. My Hangover is a big, heavy mess of goodness. Not something that you tell your Doctor that you ate, but what he does not know won't hurt him. Five stars for service alone, 4.5 for the food all together but because they were so nice it definitely gets the bump to 5. We came in on the Saturday morning of Father's Day weekend as it was close to the hotel and had solid reviews. Those reviews were right. We beat the rush as we were in by around 8:30am which is great because we were seated promptly. Our server was a delight, brought us coffee and offered suggestions. I ordered the hangover because I love SOS (creamed chipped beef), what an awesome way to serve it over hash browns with an egg on top. They had other options but I went for the original. It also came with delicious buttered toast. The hash browns could have been a bit crispier especially with the chipped beef on top of them, so that was a bummer. But it was still delicious and I ate it all. The wife got an omelette which she enjoyed. Portions were huge. I love the hot sauce variety they give, I love hot sauce and having some great options was outstanding. The cashier was the sweetest woman, 84 years young and so we entered upon a good impression and left the same way. We didn't come back because we wanted to try a couple different places but next time I am in Wildwood I would definitely come back here. read more

If you like sweet, creative pancakes and french toasts, you will LOVE surfside. I love diners, and this one gets an A in my book. Sweets: The specials this week included apple pancakes with brown ale mixed in. In fact, each week's special pancakes have ale mixed in. Which is pretty fun. The lemon-ricotta pancakes are a must, the flavors pop in your mouth. The fluffy texture makes it a real cake. French toast options were all challah and sounded delish. I had the greek salad - lots of oily olives and peppers with a hard boiled egg and minimal lettuce, meh - and egg whites with mushrooms. My eggs were definitely scrambled with plenty of butter on the pancake griddle. The taste of butter and batter overwhelmed any umami that could have been savored. I won't order eggs next time. After trying to decide which diner in Wildwood was the best with my mom we took to Yelp to settle our debate. Surfside was the highest rated and closest to where we were staying. And surprisingly neither of us had ever heard of it. So we scrolled through some of the great reviews and pictures and decided where we were going for breakfast. The parking outside was a little awkward but once inside we were seated right away. However, we were greeted by a screaming baby that sounded like something out of Jurassic Park. Still, I know there's not much the restaurant can do about that. I just wish the parents would have done something to appease their child. I ordered a porkroll, egg, and cheese on a bagel with a side of home fries and my mom had the cream chipped beef. Our food came out very quick and was delicious. Exactly what I wanted from a diner. Sunday morning of the Firefighter's convention we found this place on Yelp and I have NO IDEA why it wasn't packed! Hands down the most delicious breakfast spot I've been to in a long time! Hubby got the (yawn) Western and I tried this shrimp, feta omelet with a tomatillo sauce and a potato cake thing that was so good I talked about it until we stopped for lunch 4 hours later!!!! This place is all the best of retro in decor. It's clean, bright, and fun. They have some unique menu items that are fabulous. We went for breakfast simply because they were open early enough for us and were so pleased to have found this gem. The pancakes made with ricotta & lemon...so good. And the omelette we recommend, I believe is the Cresse. They make their own basil pesto which is on a few of their breakfast dishes as the perfect finishing touch. Very disappointed in this diner and had a terrible experience. My family of 3 was seated after only a minute of waiting for a table. We waited for our waitress to acknowledge us, and she did after about 7 minutes. She greeted us with "I'll be back in a few minutes." In the meantime, my son needed to use the bathroom however the stall (yes, one) in the men's room has no door. We waited for another 5-6 minutes for our order to be taken when the waitress decided to take orders from a table seated after us. Conveniently that table of two knew the owner. The waitress knew she acted poorly and unprofessionally, defending herself by saying "I just was going around the room." Probably one of the best breakfasts I've had down here! The only thing I can't stand about my trip is usually I have horrible breakfasts but decided to try this place since reviews were good! Bf has the hangover which was creamer chipped beef, eggs and potatoes in a bowl! He loved it! I had a bacon egg and cheese on this soft almost-potato bread like roll it was fabulous and cooked perfectly! The shredded home fries were a great touch since not many people serve them! Came here with my family and the menu was very basic which was fine because we just needed something to hold us over until lunch. The waitress mixed up our order with the table next to ours by giving us the wrong orders more than once and was very scatter-brained. She was acting as if her blood sugar was low or she was drunk idk. Food was bland and ehh alright. The decor is old and it looks musty. Had breakfast here the other morning with my husband and toddler in tow and can't say enough wonderful things about the food and the outstanding service. I had the Greek omelette, hubby had eggs over easy with pancakes and our wee one had blueberry pancakes. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. Hubby commented on the fact that so many places can't seem to cook eggs over easy properly, but this place did it perfect. Oh, and the coffee here? So good that I had a few extra refills ;) Come here for breakfast - you won't be disappointed! So good. I've been here a few times and haven't had a bad experience. My favorite is the wedge, which is potato wedges and two scrambled eggs topped with cheddar cheese and a creamy horseradish sauce. The ricotta pancakes are so good too. They remind me of a lemon cheese Danish in pancake form. The potato cake is amazing too. All of the food I've had there has been good. All in all, a great local spot. The only thing is that it runs on the pricier side. A single ricotta pancake was $3.50 and the wedge was $7.95. $1.75 for coffee. It won't deter me from going back for more deliciousness though. read more

Last time I went hear for breakfast a 12 year old girl left the restaurant and immediately threw up out front... directly in front of the window we were eating in front of. Stopped in last week for breakfast and I have to say, it was pretty pretty good. My coffee was fresh, hot and brewed to perfection. I ordered 2 eggs, bacon, sausage etc... Everything was cooked fresh. Good old fashion diner food at good descent prices. What impressed me the most was the great level of customer service the staff had. Made the mistake of eating breakfast here this morning. Never in my 64 years have I only gotten 1 peice of burnt toast with 2 Sunnyside up eggs. I ,asked for hash browns extra well done ,which they weren't. The 4 table spoons of potatoes were ice cold. My friends short stack of pumpkin pancakes were not light or fluffy, but at 4 dollars a piece ($ 7.95) for 2 small pancakes is way overpriced. I watch the owner's wife eating at the counter. Half of her huge helping of hash browns ended up in the trash. Upon checking out I mentioned the lousy single piece of toast to owner's wife ,here reply was " My husband is tired of wasting food " and I should have been offered a choice for a second slice, which I was not ! Her husband should monitor his wife`s wasteful ways. She made no attempt to rectify my cold burnt toast, and skimpy cold hash brown breakfast. Never again for me. read more
