The process was smooth and fast, he confirmed the spots before I get pierced. I chose Studs because they offer flat-back screw for their earrings and use piercing needles manually instead of a piercing device. So the healing is better comparing to using a piercing gun. This place is definitely on the pricey side, especially their jewelries. I personally wouldn't get my jewellery here, I'm just here for the piercing and got a titanium stud for now. It was okay not the best I got two swap out piercings for the first time after having gotten pierced. I felt they could've cleaned my ears first and then inserted the new earrings. I took my son to get his ears pierced in August. And here we are in October and his piercings have not healed in the slightest. In fact they are pussing and infected. He recently lost an earring, and he went to the Topanga location to replace the missing one with an exact match. When he brought it home for me to put it in I realized the flatback is titanium and not 14k gold. When I took him to get pierced I informed all the techs there that we can only do solid gold because myself and my daughter are highly sensitive to any other material. I could not be more clear when I advised they could not be titanium, gold plated, vermeil, or anything other than solid gold. The tech actually praised me and said she was glad we were fully aware. She said don't worry, we pierce with a surgical needle and use only titanium, and you purchased 14k gold so we should be fine. She advised the technique using the single needle is much more sanitary, safe and less painful talking down on you're run of the mill Claire's that uses a gun. I was fully confident in paying $270 for both 14k earrings and the piercings. I didn't think to double check or look because typically when a retailer sells 14k jewelry and you purchase 14k jewelry they are usually ALL GOLD even the photos on Studs website show gold flatback labrets. I was not expecting a microgram 4 prong 14k stud with a titanium post. You know the post... The part that actually is inside the pierced part of your body exposed to your blood and directly in contact to your skin? The part that is most crucial to be needing 14k gold or whatever you need innorder to heal, especially when you know you're already highly sensitive. I was NEVER made aware that the flat back posts were titanium otherwise I would have gone elsewhere or not have proceeded. Nowhere in the piercing agreement does it state that all the piercing jewelry comes with titanium flat back posts. You have to go searching in the FAQ on their page in order to find out for yourself. I've contacted Studs customer service twice via email with no reply. You may pride yourself on your piercing techniques. But you misinform your clients by your marketing and wording even on your website. And to be quite honest. I, my daughter, my sisters, my nieces we have all gotten our ears pierced with a piercing gun with our solid gold jewelry and never had any problems!!! I had my ears pierced as a child and it was done with a piercing gun at a store in the mall. One of my ear piercings closed up recently as an adult so I wanted to find a place that could re pierce it but I didn't want a piercing gun. I remembered STUDS was an option because I had seen them at Bravocon last year. I made an appointment at your century city location for my daughter to get her second lobe piercing after having an exemplary experience at your Las Vegas location. This experience did not come anywhere near close to the one I had with the team in Vegas. On the contrary the century city front desk employee who rang me up was rushing me and my daughter and on top of that was so lazy. Charging me incorrectly and making me have to beg her to delete the original charge and to fix it. They didn't fill out my piercing booklet correctly like the Vegas team did. They also charged me for two of the wrong jewelry items which I didn't notice till today because they didn't include the tags to the booklet like the Vegas team did. When I went to look at the non piercing jewelry she even turned me away and told me I could only receive a piercing from that section. I was planning on buying for my other piercings but after that I decided I would just order online to get my 20% off. The only redeeming part of this experience was our piercer who was very sweet and patient with us. Although I will not recommend the century city location I would love to find additional CA locations to fall in love with. Otherwise I'm happy to hit up the Las Vegas location when we're in town. Either way, thanks again for the amazing service last night Vegas studs team! I went to Studs, bought 5 earrings, and had one of the employees put them in for me. They were very nice, but somehow caused one of the holes to bleed, even though it's been healed for years and had a different earring in it when I came in. It ended up getting infected. The front of one of the flatback studs kept falling off, and after the 3rd time I couldn't find it. I also got a micro cz flatback stud, which ended up being so small that it went through my hole and I lost that one too. read more

The process of downsizing was very frustrating. I have for months felt that my post was sticking out too much, constantly getting stuck on my hair, flipping/rotating in different directions... leaving me in a constant cycle of re-traumatizing the piercing. I had visited the Century City location multiple times and they were extremely dismissive. The most recent time was the most frustrating because the piercer hardly even looked... couldn't even be bothered to step out from behind the counter. Instead of listening to me, she was very disrespectful and gaslighting me. I went with a friend who was also shocked with how I was treated. I went to another location (Topanga) the next day and after a careful look, they concluded that I was in fact ready to downsize, as I suspected. Since my downsize, I have felt amazing without the constant and repeated trauma to the piercing. It's depressing and demoralizing to think I could've been downsized earlier to avoid additional trauma if I gone to a different place with piercers who listen and do an actual assessment. If I were to do it again, I would not come here. read more

Stopped by here with my bachelorette group to get spontaneous piercings. Darin did both my helix and my friend's mid-helix piercing. Mine took less than a minute but my friends' took quite some time as he wasn't able to get the backing through because she was bleeding a bit. He tried again about 3-4 more times before calling over one of the other workers who was able to get it through. I would've probably preferred him getting someone else after the second try because my friend was visibly in pain but she also has a lower pain tolerance. I will say that Darin did a great job in keeping her calm and talking her through it. Mine's healing nicely so far and same goes for my friend even though she has some large bruising. Would definitely not mind having a shop like this in VA to do some quick, professional walk-ins! read more

I got a single upper lobe piercing at the Century City STUDS location, my 13th piercing overall, and it was by far the best experience I've ever had. Turbo Stabs did my piercing, and they were incredible. The pricing reflects the level of care and professionalism you receive, so it's definitely not cheap, but in my opinion, completely worth it. The studio is really cute, and the piercing suite is super sanitary. The actual piercing was nearly painless (as much as a needle being stabbed into your ear can be), but what really stood out was how smooth the aftermath has been. I've had little to no pain, only a brief moment when I pressed my phone to my ear. Other than that, I can touch around the area without any soreness or lingering discomfort. I've been pierced at several well-reviewed local studios before, but nothing has come close to the STUDS experience and Turbo's skills. I'll still need to see how it heals over time, but I know my body well & how it reacts, and these initial days gives me high hopes for an easy healing process. They also let me know I can downsize at any STUDS studio, for free, which is great as I am from out of town. read more

I have mixed feelings with this place. When I originally went in, I had a great experience with my piercer Sonny, but I was a bit gagged by the price at the end because when on the wall it said "one piercing $50" or whatever, I.. I guess foolishly assumed that getting your ears pierced would count as one..! Not the case..! And I believe you had to buy jewelry on top of that? But that was ya know my fault for not clarifying, and Sonny took such great care re-piercing my closed ears, I didn't care. I came back for a check up as he recommended a couple weeks later and he switched the backings or something so they were shorter. Well, when I went back a third time a couple months later to ask if I could get checked to see if I was ready to switch earrings, the woman at the front desk just said basically "if it hasn't been 4 months, then no" pretty dismissively. These were just re-piercings and they seemed fully healed to me and I wasn't too far from the 4 month mark, so I was hoping to just have Sonny check them out again..! Unfortunately, seemed he no longer works there. I just felt like since I paid over $100 to get my ears pierced and I was planning to buy new jewelry from them, they could just take the time to look but..! A few days ago I replaced my anxiety with simple joy by getting my ears pierced at Studs. Not wanting to go to a tattoo parlor and more than one close friend telling me how their ears got infected at Clare's I searched for a place to get my ears pierced. I made a same day appointment and I was set. Lupe (my piercer) greeted me with a genuine smile. She talked me through exactly what she was going to do calmly and confidently. The immediate "pain" was only a mild discomfort. It was not abrasive and my ears have been adjusting very well. I was done (paperwork, and all) within 15 minutes. I have gotten a few piercings here at studs and from the times I have went I have had a good experience with the piercers! However I got my helix done have in July 2024 and so I am nearing a year with this piercing. Helix piercings really shouldn't take this long to heal however I have had such a bad healing process. Same goes for my rook and conch done in October 2024 both also done here. I have been consistent with hygiene and limiting irritation, however nothing has helped. About a month ago I visited studs for a check up, I wasn't even greeted or offered help until I made eye contact with a girl working there so I asked for help. I told her how my piercing haven't been healing well and all she told me was to get a piercing pillow and clean better and dismissed. Now I am pretty sure that almost year old helix has developed a keloid, not an irritation bump. I'm pretty sure I will have to remove the jewelry to prevent further growth and irritation. The jewelry and piercings here are also not cheap so money wasted. I'm not sure what really was the issue but maybe consider going to a real reputable piercer. read more

I drove in from Huntington Beach due to all the options and I also liked that they specialized in piercings . I'm pretty conservative when it comes to piercings, but I really knew I wanted to get one on my upper cuff of the ear . I had an amazing piercer named lleana , she really spent quality time with me and never made me feel rushed for not being to sure exactly what size or style I wanted . She ended up spending extra time with me and made me feel very comfortable that I ended up getting two piercings instead of the one that I initially wanted .Her customer service skills are excellent !! I have to preface this review by first saying my experience day of at studs was great. This is not a review on the service. I have multiple ear piercings, a nipple piercing, and a bellybutton piercing. I understand piercing after care and I have good hygiene. I was pierced on my right and left ear lobes at studs on February 22nd. 3rd piercing on my left lobe and second piercing on my right lobe. It is may 17th and my ears are still not healed, have had multiple keloids pop up that I am trying to treat, and my piercings are nowhere near healed. I am not sure if it was the piercer or the jewelry, but my intuition is telling me the jewelry is what is impeding the healing process. I was pierced by a guy who had JUST finished his apprenticeship, and was trying new techniques, but I don't think it is necessarily his fault. I don't want to point fingers but I've never had a piercing healing process be this difficult, I'm considering taking both piercings out. I MAY go to another professional piercer to have the jewelry switched out to make sure that is not the problem. It's a cool concept but I would never get a piercing here again. I visited the Century City location today for the first time. I had looked at their selection of hinge hoops online and it looked like a promising place to find a replacement nostril hoop. The store is small, but well organized. It's easy to see the different types of jewelry and selection of sizes. I walked in at the same time as two young women who introduced themselves to the employees as interns from a neighboring business, but they left within a minute or two. I stayed for about 5-10 minutes and was the only customer in the store. The two people working at the time didn't greet me or engage with me during my visit. I understand I could have asked to see the hoops I was interested in, but when the employees didn't acknowledge a customer in the store I thought it better to leave. She makes sure that I am okay during the process of piercing. I got a Flat and Tragus on my left ear. I only feel a pinch like a bug bite at first and then no pain at all.
