Came here for dinner and was happy to see a good variety of menu options. Due to COVID-19, customers were being seated at every other table and staff wore masks. We still received good service. I was very impressed by their Unagi ($2 for one piece). It was like butter. Sir Justin's Roll was quite unimpressive since all I could taste was crunchy tempura flakes in every bite (snow crab salad and crunchy tempura, topped with ahi poke, wasabi mayo, and wasabi tobiko, $12.95). Rising Sun Maki was better but a little dry (tuna, crab, and shrimp rolled with tobiko, topped with Japanese mayo and scallions, $11.95).

3 rolls tuna, smoked salmon, and yellowtail. They all were ok. I would say they are only ok and I have had fresher.

Average place with average sushi. We got 3 rolls and they were all acceptable but not amazing

It was supposed to be a California roll but I see only rice and avocado. you pay for California and only get avocado.

I ordered a california roll and a philly roll. the California roll had only rice and avocado, hardly any crab. and the philly roll I asked to change the smoked salmon for a fresh one and they charged me $2 extra. I really don't understand what the difference is if both are salmon. I do not recommend!!

Came here for date night with the hubs. Hostess wasn't very friendly at all. We got sat right away because they were super slow and she picked the worst table for us to sit at. Once we got to the table she slammed down the menus and walked off. Didn't even say anything. Our server was friendly and gave suggestions. My husband got a salad and although it was big, the core of the lettuce was in there as well as a lot of white lettuce. The sushi was good but it took a very long time considering how slow they were. Also, I got the surf and turf roll and the meat in it was very small! The steak was teeny tiny! Decent sushi but nothing memorable.

    Dragon Roll- Excellent!!

Love this restaurant. Sushi is always good as are other items. The appetizer, Gyoza is wonderful. If you are looking or something other than sushi, the teriyaki salmon is great. Friendly staff and clean.

    Calamari

Not a one bc I've had worse. But I came back here from being out of town for years, I always come for the calamari and maki 101. It's always a fave. But this cost wasn't the best. I ordered calamari, maki 101 w salmon and the firecracker roll. The calamari was either cooked way too long or was freezer burned. Either way it was hard and rubbery w a burnt oil taste. Maki 101 was cooked thru to the point I've order plank salmon on a wood grill cooked less than my sushi was. And the fry on the rice for the firecracker was so hard it left pieces of the roof of my mouth hanging I have never experienced anything like this here and whoever fried food between 5:30 and 6 on June 27th needs some instruction. I will be back in hopes I can have my faves served properly again and hopefully this review is only taken critically and not disrespectfully.

    It was ok.

I will said the sushi chef needs more practice with the rolls with definitely have better experience in other sushi restaurants in Ballantine it was ok.

    Vegetable tempura
    Sunshine M.

Food was ok. I had spicy tuna, vegetable tempura, cucumber roll and a mixed ginger salad. The spicy tuna was like black and didn't taste good. The vegetable tempura was like they threw all veggies together and fried them and cut them into blocks. Definitely wasn't traditional. It batter was ok. My ginger salad was drenched in dressing. I only took a few bites. The only thing I enjoy was the cucumber roll. The service was ok. Definitely won't be back. I left hungry.

Lots of options to choose from, but I feel the sushi isn't worth the price. Not bad tasting, more like average good, not exceptional.

I normally make reservations just to be on the safe side. I prefer a booth and I normally am able to get one. The staff meeting you at the door are always nice and friendly. They will seat you immediately. the waitstaff here are pretty awesome. The scene here is a little dark and moody and this is what I love about this restaurant... Very Dramatic! Now Food ‼ So, if this is your first time and you want to keep it light, I highly recommend the cob salad! This is the best salad because of the homemade croutons! The serving is pretty large and the dressings our house made and every single one of them are great. My favorite would be the Thai dressing, if I had to pick. I've also tried the burger and it is extremely HUGE and flavorful. You may not be able to eat it all in one setting. I've also had the blackened salmon with the pasta and it was perfectly cooked. I get mine at medium rare. TIMING~ The servants come out pretty fast. By the time you've had your first drink the food is already coming out. This is my honest review as I have been coming here for the past decade and I've never had an issue. You will be pleased. This is also the perfect spot for a first date, business meeting, anniversary and also a birthday.. P.S. Another reason why I am drawn to this particular location, is that 131 Main has maintained a clean place to eat. My number one pet peeve is a messy bathroom. I have yet to find any issues with this restaurant. The bathrooms are always clean Everything is fully stocked and servers are Super attentive, so I will continue to come back.

Really has the makings of a 5-star restaurant, but there were some off-putting things that got in the way. Menu is excellent. Lots of choices, your place mat is your menu until you order. Our server stuck to his order of march: drinks, appetizers, mains desserts. It was mostly a non-alcohol dinner, so the drinks were an odd mix of soda water and colored drinks with flags. Can't tell you about wine list or other prices. Order taking took awhile and we got through it. My son and I each had the Steak Frites ($39.70). Nice portions. Suggest you order meat cooked to a higher level of doneness as they tend to go light on cooking. I ordered medium and got almost rare. Son ordered medium well and got high medium. Truffle fries were plentiful and a bit too salty with the Kosher salt. A decent dinner. One Maxx Burger ($21.85) inhaled by the 16 year old male. Liked it. One Kid Chicken Tenders ($10.30) with three sides. She liked the mashed potatoes and the chicken. One Chicken Picatta ($25.50), a special. Son paid the bill, I don't have receipt. Wife liked the chicken and the accompanying spaghetti with capers was very good. She took home a portion good for lunch the next day. One Pappardelle Bolognese ($29.35) well enjoyed by granddaughter. One California Chicken Sandwich ($20.70). Daughter-in-law ate half of it. Not a big eater. I did not like the finished meal plates snapped up one at a time. We were talking and it took awhile. Suggest you tell your waiters/bussers to wait until everyone is done, to ask if it is OK to take the plates and get it done. The slow eaters are under the gun to hurry up...and we, after dinner, thought that Burton's wanted diners to move quickly through their meals and clear out for other guests. This was evident when our server, who was not very well-versed, asked for dessert orders. We said no desserts. He left the table for a rather long time and returned, again asking for dessert orders. Obviously he was stymied not having that item accomplished. He left. Again, after quite a pause, we flagged another server down and asked for our bill. So, great menu and decent offerings, but we felt rushed. We all agreed, over ice cream bought at another vendor. Will be back. Burton's has a lot going for it, so will be worth your time, effort and money.

I stopped in here on a Friday afternoon to grab a quick bite. Upon entrance, I really liked the paintings and other decorations spread throughout the dining room. The kitchen is visible as well which makes for a more immersive dining experience. The menu seemed to have plenty of seafood but I figured I'd opt for their special, a Blackened Red Snapper with Bacon Jalapeño Cream Sauce. It came with two sides so I decided to try out their okra and collard greens, after a recommendation from my waiter. I typically don't order collard greens but he said they have pork and are delicious. The place wasn't too busy so food came out quickly, about 10 minutes after I ordered. The food looked decent upon first glance, but I wasn't sold just yet. After my first bite of fish, I was taken aback by the delicious flavor of their cream sauce paired with the blackened fish. It was a solid portion of fish and tasted of good quality, so it didn't stand much a chance. The sides were also just as delicious. It's hard to mess up fried okra so my expectations were met to a tee. The collard greens were actually so incredible as well. I don't really know what they're made of but I definitely will be trying it more in the future, if other places prepare it as good. They also had a house hot sauce with was more flavor than heat, but paired wonderfully with everything. The whole meal was so good so I understand why they seem to a have solid amount of regulars at this place. The staff were very kind and attentive throughout the entire meal. If you want a taste of Louisiana, this place is a solid option in Charlotte.

That said, Yard Dog is not a dog at all, but a superb little restaurant with a great menu and mouth-watering foods. Oh boy! Wife and I entered and were surprised at just how small their dining area was. Couple that with a not-so-pleasant noise level, you will have difficulty seating more than four and conversation will be tough, but not impossible. You came to eat. It is a very cozy, busy and fun place. In addition to the super menu there is a chalk board with specials. Check those out first. I spotted catch of the day, which was Red Snapper, a favorite of mine, which came with two sides ($26). When served, it was three fillets, so the whole eatable parts of the fish, topped with a Cajun spice mixture and a horseradish sauce. This is a to-die-for or last meal item. The fish was perfectly cooked and my side of collards were as mammy has done for eons: flavorful with pork and a perfect complement to my catch of the day. And the fried okra was great and I paid the $.50 for ranch dressing, as fried okra SHOULD be so complemented. Wife does not eat sea food, so she was, initially, confronted with the challenge of finding a dish without seafood in it. She did. There were a number of options, like pasta with Andouille sausage ($21) which is listed as with shrimp, but they omitted the shrimp for her. She also spied blackened meatloaf and some other items for the next visit. The place is busy and the wait staff is hustling as fast as the kitchen can get orders out. The kitchen looks so small, but they are a blur of motion cooking and plating. Kudos to the kitchen and servers. Our server was Sophie and she was excellent. There are beverages on a separate menu, mostly wine, beer and hard cider, with some non-alcohol items also available. We both had hard cider at $6 a can. Draft beer was available at $7 a glass. We will definitely return, even give lunch a try. I will most likely answer the siren call for five stars, which is certainly in the cards. See for yourselves.

The menu and decor immediately signaled that this wasn't the Greek-style Mediterranean food I'd come to expect - no spinach pie, no feta in sight! With a simple "What do you enjoy?", she expertly navigated me through the menu, leading me to the most delicious meal. At $12.99, It was priced fairly and prepared perfectly. Every dish at Jasmine's is made fresh, and the short wait is absolutely worth it. Even though I live 45 minutes away, I'm already planning my next visit - and I'm bringing my sisters!
